Creep 2 (2017)
Not As Good As The First
When firs watching this film, I was expecting it to give off the same feeling of suspense and for lack of better words, "creepiness". However, upon watching this, I simply wasn't able to enjoy it the same way I enjoyed its predecessor. That being said though, I didn't find this film to be awful. Rather than draw from the suspense it was supposed to portray, I was instead able to view it in a more playful, comedic way. And while typically that isn't the point of a horror film, I do believe that the most important thing a film is supposed to do is entertain the audience. So while I can't say it's a wonderful horror film, I can say its still an alright one nonetheless.
The Thing (1982)
My Only Perfect 10
This movie has literally everything I could ever ask for in a horror movie. Carpenter was an absolute genius in creating this piece. It portrays a true sense of isolation and dread that most movies can't convey. The suspense it delivers, its originality, its rhythm and environment, everything is made near to perfection
Halloween (1978)
Respect it, but it's just not good
I don't hate this film necessarily and I respect it for being a staple in the horror franchise, but I don't really ever want to watch it again. It's just incredibly boring and I have a hard time sitting through it. It's not that it wasn't thrilling at one point, just that I've seen too many movies much better than this for it to affect me in any way a good horror film should. Even at its most basic form as a work of entertainment and sadly when I feel a movie has failed at entertaining me in the slightest I feel it's failed at doing anything. Because that's a films job, first and foremost is to be entertaining to the audience. Bad movies can be bad but can still be a joy to watch. I think film is an art but as well as it being subjective, I think it only became an art as time went on. And its first purpose still remains.
Devil's Due (2014)
Lacking
Doesn't make you squirm in the way a good horror movie should. Just made me generally uncomfortable
The Thaw (2009)
Overused themes
Not that enjoyable, unique, or fun. Really more of just a "meh" movie that borrows off of ideas from other films
