Nuovo Cinema Paradiso (1988)
Finest Storytelling !
I wish i have watched this when I was younger than now. So i could have watched this many times by now. My innocence would have created resonance with Toto. Paradiso is unique. The movie can be watched by any generations. You can witness the art of finest storytelling of pure lives.
The movie gave me some fresh air from the Tarantino, Hitchcock movies I've seen of often. The movie is filled with some delightful performances. I have no idea how a little boy's acting creates magic. He's too young for that, unreal talent. There are elegant characterisations even for artists having less SOT and have some best acting moments.
The bond between Alfredo and Little Toto will be there lying on our hearts for years. As the story continues the wonder elements decreases. So do our attention. Projecting Cinema on the square was the best in the movie. Kisses played a major character in the movie.
The viewers also grew with Toto. From the innocent little kid who loves cinema as well as Alfredo; to a young adult, who's deep love for cinema shifts to a girl; to the grownup old man who had achieved his dream for cinema making, yet unfulfilled with his love of life. In every part the bond between him and Alfredo is heartedly created.
"It's so Metaphorical"
A true remarkable achievement in every aspect.
There's so much about this movie. Name a genre; it's in it. Let it be comedy, mystery, thriller, romance, suspence, drama ; Parasite covered everything.
The film keeps developing and the excitement for the upcomings never ends with multiple twists and turns. The film speaks so much about the class differences, mentalities of people having different living style to the hatred towards the people who are suffering in life. Even if we don't want to jump into those political statements, we can thoroughly enjoy the film to its core. Parasite is rare and original .
The Shawshank Redemption (1994)
The Redemption of Pure Cinematic Magic !
Are there people still left to watch this masterpiece? I'm talking to them, this ain't a /sci-fi/action/thriller/mystery/comedy/ movie. No CGI, No gut crunching actions. A drama yet so natural with exceptional acting moments. Just some prisoners talking to each other. Yet it is in the list of all time best. Yes, the makers might have prompted some magic spells same way like they did to the script.
It couldn't win the Oscars but pretty sure it will win your hearts . The Most influential movie for me.
No Country for Old Men (2007)
"You don't have to do this"
The conflict between morality and musings to take the Heart out decided at one coin flip. Can you live long enough with your innocence. That doesn't work here, Life ain't that fair enough to keep the good ones. Oh Wait, who's the good one here, was there? There was an offer - save his wife
Or both of you'll die. On either way undeniably you'll die. Was he ready to protect his wife? And take a chance to battle eye to eye. No he wasn't! So there's none good.
Wasn't it bad vs more bad? Wasn't it Survival and greed vs Grudge and Psychosis?
Ah what a teamsides !
Even the sheriff knew that the one who he searched for was there inside the motel room. And he wasn't ready to be the goat infront of the tiger that waiting to eat even tho he's full! Or he wasn't ready to proudly either arrest the evil or die with honor.
Think who'll win. Will the bad guy wins over the more bad guy. Or the cold-blooded Gargantuan sucks everyone's blood Or will the climax be the battle with bullets firing each other? No it ain't gonna work like that when Anton is there. All you have left to do is take your coin side. There's no hope left to live. Even the absence of music shows the Hopelessness, it tells us that you are witnessing a Wasteland. There was one moment, cameo of God,not visually, yet god showed his power. He knew it, he knew he don't deserve the mercy, that's why he gave the money, yeah more money. Hmm... One of the best ending for an Oscar worthy movie can have with the Oscar worthy performance from the main man.
I know you won't get anything from this writing. Same goes for the movie until and unless you want to.
Such a gore, so much blood which should be r-rated. I love how WB aren't cared about kids among the fans unlike marvel. This was dark as much as it can be. Was so creepy to see aquaman and wonder woman like monstrous. Thomas Wayne as batman was an interesting factor. Actions of Flash and Zoom was flawless. What it lacked was a strong reason for the war even tho it had a decent story line.
Venom had so much to offer, only if they really cared about the script. Only the chasing sequence was remarkable. They really wasted the potential of the plot to creat fierce battle between two symbiote by a rushed climax (and also a cliche heroine role tbh) . Tom Hardy (one of my fav actor) lived the character. It's watchable as a cool approach towards an anti-hero.
Now let's there be CARNAGE !
Let me thank the creators of CINEMA now!
I want to forget what i saw by time and watch it again someday to experience the insanity again. I sorted interstellar as the last remaining Christopher Nolan movie to watch, thank god I kept the best for the last.
Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021)
THE REAL JUSTICE LEAGUE !
Justice served to all DC fans embarrassed by WB and Whedon (sent by disney, i think).
2017 one was insulting for the 5 strongests of earth. They gathered and was moaning for superman's death and brought him back. It was like they had no chance to even try without superman.
Here on Snyder Cut, 5 strongests of earth gathered and tried and brought superman back to complete The Justice League. Yes they might still lose without superman. But here even if anyone of them doesn't rise they'll lose. Everyone had their part to play. It was the complete team work that defeated Steppenwolf.
Cyborg got the backstory he deserved which got emotionally connected with viewers. Now there's an explanation for Steppenwolf collecting mother boxes which remained unclear till now. I don't know why people are complaining about Slow-mo scenes. What do you expect from actions of Flash Superman and WW who can vanish in a blink of eye.
4 hr wasn't even long, got completely satisfied with the epilogue.
My favourite parts were
Fight of Darkseid vs Gods and men
Cyborg's Knightmare scene (it was terrific)
Time travel of Flash.
Amazons vs Steppenwolf
And the Epilogue with Joker (Leto did it nice this time)
Snyder Gifted us what we deserve What he deserves. Waiting for THE JL2 BEGINS... (delete that 2017 crap from the internet)
Justice League (2017)
Embarrassment for DC fans
Before superman came
Batman: Fighting Parademons
Flash: Saving Civilians
WW&Aquaman: Fighting Steppenwolf
Cyborg: Seperating Boxes.
After Superman comes (Batman smiled like an 8 year old boy seeing his dad comes back home)
Superman:Sperated the Boxes
"You can't save the world alone" says steppenwolf
WB replies "unless you are Superman" The end.
The Hangover (2009)
Among the Best Comedy Movies !
What do you expect from a comedy film?
Fun, to laugh by forgetting everything happened in the past. The Hangover serves that. That's all a comedy genre movie needs . Free your mind and fasten your seat-belt for a laughing riot.
Say bye bye to logic :-D.
A Cinematic Achievement (Experiment) !
I have said the whole thing about Dunkirk in the title. It's a Cinematic Achievement without an emotional core. You can't deny the fact that Nolan used or created the authentic fighter planes and ships that were really used in the evacuation back then. I can't even imagine the effort they have taken to get outstanding aerial shots.
Just Think The film is taken in three different matters Soil Air Water How hard will it be to shoot battle between planes and bombs exploding to the water. I don't know any other director and crew will pull off a film like this with practical experiments.
Even though Dunkirk is a masterpiece in visuals, screenplay, scores and all other fields, expect the script, to an extent fails to connect the emotions of the characters to viewers. Maybe the script wanted our complete focus to the events or the evacuation not to the lead characters.
So they considered each one of the 4 lakh waited on the beach for their turn to return to their motherland the same.
The portion the soldiers waiting inside the ship for high tide and the bullets marchinf to their shelter of hope was great.
Dunkirk is not the best film of Christopher Nolan But the best of his crafting capability .
The Suicide Squad (2021)
The Suicide Squad is a tight packed movie with perfect pacing. There's no scene for us to be bored and check the time. It had thrilling moments, terrific actions, blood baths and was hilarious.
I loved every character but the man who stole the frames which he was in was King Shark.
The trash talks and battle between peacemaker and bloodsport was exciting. Harley Quinn got what she deserved. Margot Robbie proved again she's the expert playing as Harley
I expected actions from the civilians conquered by the Starro. Because of that Starro felt like a not properly used threat . We know they'll somehow defeat the giant but felt shallow.
The CGI was amazing (colourful like marvel movies :-P) so do the cinematography and scores, with perfect execution by James Gunn That's it, Nom Nom!
Fight Club (1999)
The First Rule of Fight Club is you do not talk about the Fight Club
The Second Rule of Fight Club is... You do not talk about the Fight Club.
So I'm not gonna break that, know rest of the rules by watching this cult classic !
Be a Member of it !
The Machinist (2004)
Well Made Psychological Thriller.
The Machinist is a movie which is closest to a Hitchcock kinda film in making style.
Its among those movies which keeps intriguing you even after the running time.
The film making is top notch.
Cinematography and Color Grading made the movie look intense.
It keeps establishing new plots throughout to the end. But many of the incoming scenes are predictable. We'll get to feel like it's just a scene to deviate us. But have to always remember its what Trevor Reznik (C. BALE) thinks about what going around him.
Spoiler : [We'll get to predict that he's living a fantasy life even after some run time.]
The mystery wasn't really a mystery. Simple and Good Climax.
Next thing the performance of Christian Bale as Trevor Reznik.
Christian Bale has entered to the legends list.
Usually i don't brag about the physical transitions of actors for movies. But oh Boy Bale looked terrific, he had lost 60 pounds after the American Psycho in which he had a muscle packed body... This was like he'll die starving... The eyes of an insomniac was well captured, both by camera as well as Bale and transported to viewers.
I'm not sure he went to to his original character after director called the cut. Such a performance.
The Machinist is well baked slow paced thriller yet predictable. It had moments which we won't forget. Felt like if supporting characters too had some character development the film could have been better. Recommendable.
The Fighter (2010)
Only for Christian Bale !
I had lots of expectations before i started to watch. It didn't go well at the end.
Not sure that was it my expectations for a fierce boxing killed my viewing experience?
The only great thing about the movie is the performance of Christian Bale as Dicky.
Such a legend he is. The body language of a crack addict, the lame looks, dialogue delivery, deadly ill body which shows his dedication, everything wonders me with such a oscar worthy performance.
I don't know while writing this, whether he got the award or not. Have to check.....
Talking about the rest.
It's a boxing movie and it didn't gifted us goosebumps moment, even cliche sports movie has some moments. There wasn't a single shot which gave me adrenaline rush.
The boxing ring shots was like tv streaming which didn't pleased me personally.
Talking about the lead characters, first Micky- I'm surprised why they have created a hero which lacks character. I didn't get emotionally connected to Micky but to Dicky.
I feel for Wahlberg, he's talented but wasn't up to the mark at this time.
The script provided only some barely memorable moments to micky.
Amy Adams and Melissa who performed as micky's mother was stunning.
The Fighter a movie which could have been much better. It is more of a dramatic movie which based on rise of a young boxer who's guided by a crack addicted elder brother.
Midsommar isn't everyone's cup of tea.
It is one of the best in it's non-popular genre.
The surreal plot is combined with disgust and disturbance... There's no wonder most viewers hate the movie, because most em are watching films for joy, midsommar won't provide you that.
This movie is a craft of elegant cinematography, it draws us to their world.
Bizzare thing is visuals are beautiful as well as uncomfortable.
Scores was intense.
Art Direction and Costumers should be appreciated. They have created a weird planet with different gravity which makes us uncomfortable.
The connection of emotions between people in a particular scene was choking me.
There are moments where i just took time to process and continue watching.
I had a disturbed mind for almost two days.
Hated to interact with people.
Moments of shock and disgusting scenes can't be carried by many of us, we would feel like what did i just watched !
That's what the movie aimed for, so it's a win for the director.
Slow paced screenplay will test your attention.
It's a kind of movie that people won't take a second watch.
The Prestige (2006)
Are You Watching Closely vs Obsession
THE PRESTIGE begins like a usual revenge story going to be end up on one's win over another.
But as the story progressed the movie kept surprising the viewers.
Like a magic trick, Everything was normal until the dissappeared object reappeared from nowhere.
It seemed like a ordinary movie till the extraordinary Climax Twist exploded.
Take a Close Watch to get cleared on progression.
The movie took a flight like revenge as the take off to obsession to destroy the career of the opposition to a Sky diving experience Climax portion.
It contains animosity in human caused by obsessions and protecting one's prestige to any extent.
I'm sure, the only part which reduced the love for the film for some viewers was Sci Fi element. But it was a much needed element for the incoming wonder.
And moreover it showed the non-popular battle between two wizards Edison and Tesla.
Every NOLAN film contains any human emotion as a base of the script.
Here it is obsession and prestige causing to sacrifices.
The movie is filled with 3 timeliness and changes the point of view if I'm not wrong.
The screenplay of THE PRESTIGE is one of the best in nolan movies if not the best.
So does the captivating cinematography owes appreciation too.
The best thing for me was art direction which is really under-appreciated. There was numerous props used for magic tricks and the stage setup for the shows.
Atmosphere created felt like it was happening on early 20th century.
I'm not gonna talk about Nolan I'm an ardent fan of him.
Next the main thing performances : Ah The Christian Bale as Alfred Bordon I don't know how he played such a complex character without showing the complexity outside.
It felt like a magician keeping his secret inside.
Such a Legend I'm already a fan of him after watching American Psycho and The Mechinist.
And then there is Hugh Jackman as Robert Angier Mostly the story was going through his POV And he does his job well.. Be it obsessed face, be it the animosity inside to destroy his only opponent.
The dialogue delivery of him was neat.
The movie doesn't take one's side so we won't sympathise with none makes the story better.
And Michael Caine as John Cutter.
It was nice to hear that he call Bale as Alfred, haha.
The Prestige is the apt title for the film.
It will make you think about the movie after watching. I got amazed by the sacrifice of Alfred and ______ to be the Professor.
Take a Watch it won't fail you.
That's it A CHRISTOPHER NOLAN MOVIE.
VISUAL TREAT what else!
Yes Avatar is a movie which standouts by technical brilliance. It might don't have the best story, but all it provides is a visual treat. Wonder that they have created an authentic language for a movie. It's been 11 years still, it still stands tall on visual effects and moments. There aren't many films which drags you to a whole new world and Avatar Does Exist!
Waiting for the second Part....
COMIC BOOK EXPERIENCE
I didn't read any reviews about the movie before watching the movie...started without much expectations... And Oh Boy the whole movie was flowing Awsomeness! Whatta animation, scores , The Spidey Swings, everything goes to the best. The movie perfectly fit to be a Comic Book adaptation. Finally got to see the Gwen Stacy in a spidey costume...The movie enters not only to the one of the best animation movie so do as a spiderman movie... 9/10 because for people those who haven't read comic won't get much about the villain, it was so linear to the kingpin actions! That's it.
Forrest Gump (1994)
Into the Heart
The way innocence and compassion wins over anyone who comes across forrest gump is too overwhelming and what the cinema left behind to us was love, respect and compassion. Hat's off Tom Hanks, One of the best performances ever happened, and brilliance of the whole crew. The first thing which came to my mind after finishing the movie was whether Tom Hanks got the academy award or not..and he does.... Watch it mates atleast once in your Life :-)
