Writing a short review but had to be said.
This finale was something inevitable. The person Jimmy became needed to make amends for all the awfulness he caused. It was truly emotionally mature, dense and heavy. An antidote to Breaking Bad's flashyness. It came full circle. The show has always been a pretty grounded and realistic courtroom crime-dramedy and it went back to it's roots. Huge twists during hearings was the bread and butter of the show. People that complain about this ending clearly haven't been paying attention to the series/or expected a BrBa type finale, but this show is it's very own unique thing and is proud about it.
It's definitely more sophisticated, psychologically analyzing every decision characters make. Truly fascinating show about human nature.
BrBa was about someone who changes completely, BCS was about someone who couldn't change. Until the very end.
This finale gave me an overwhelming sense of sadness and tragedy. The black and white actually works in its favor a lot, as in the present every color is drained out from all the darkness that Saul spreaded out. Everyone's lives impacted by Walter White's actions. No hope, no escape, nowhere left to hide, no color.
This will stay spoiler free but man... I think fans that are disappointed should definitely rewatch the show. This was the finale that everything was building up to. It's really brilliant writing and TV.
The black and white teasers at the start of every season, if we think about it they were flash forwarding to build up to this finale, thru out an ENTIRE series. Something I don't think any series ever did.
Overall literally every single scene and line of dialogue had a point and a deeper purpose, would take too long to really dive into everything. But this is the finale we deserved, even if it might not be the one we wanted.
A (very) bittersweet ending. Still thinking about it.
