King Richard (2021)
6/10
Entertaining and interesting but too much fighting
27 November 2022
King Richard is an interesting movie following the childhood of Venus and Serena Williams, and the training from their father Richard Williams. The focus is on Venus Williams.

I liked the great performances from the whole cast - Will Smith's performance especially. I also enjoyed learning about the childhood of Venus and Serena Williams.

The one thing that brought this movie down for me was the constant fighting. It felt like for about half the movie people were just arguing, fighting and shouting at each other. Really tiring. Please learn to disagree in a productive way.

All-in-all a movie that's worth watching.

An ok sci-fi movie with good acting but pretty weak characters and plot progression.

Good but slow and a bit boring
29 September 2020
The movie takes place during the American Civil War, and we get to follow a regiment of black soldiers led by a white person. They are first trained to become proper soldiers, and then they go to battle.

I found the movie to be good but a bit slow. It portrayed in a good - and I hope accurate - way the difficulties of the first black regiment in the civil war. I'm glad that it made me learn a bit of history.

I am glad that I watched it but I will probably never watch it again.

Gandhi (1982)
9/10
Non-violence!
23 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
What a good piece of film about an incredibly inspiring man!

The film follows Gandhi in his life-long fight against injustice. It starts off briefly with his time in South Africa, continues with his fight for Indian independence, followed by his fast during the Muslim-Hindu violence after gaining said independence, and ends with his death by murder.

I enjoyed every part of it. What a truly fascinating and inspiring man he was. I learned so much from this movie and I loved it. I learned about Gandhi, of course, but also about the history of India and Pakistan. When he fasted in protest against the Muslim-Hindu violence and finally succeeded, and everyone was standing around him saying that it had stopped, it brought tears to my eyes. What a powerful moment.

One small complaint about the movie that I have is that it shows his death in the beginning, which I felt was a bit unnecessary. I actually did not know that Gandhi was murdered before watching the film.

In all honesty however, if I would solely rate the movie based on it's quality I would probably give it a 7. It is the fact that it is about Mahatma Gandhi which makes it a 9 for me.

I think everyone should see this film. I am sure that I will rewatch it some day when I am in need of some inspiration.

Nice Insights About Catholicism
3 May 2020
I didn't have that high expectations for this movie but I was pleasantly surprised.

The pace and the story were really good. I was not bored during a single moment of the entire movie. I really liked learning about catholicism, and it was also interesting to learn about the military coup in Argentina.

I'm happy I have seen this film I would not mind seeing it again sometime in the future.

Well Made Hollywood Movie With An Interesting Insight Into The Lives of Successful Musicians
1 May 2020
I finally got around to seeing this movie and I am happy that I did. All the actors do an amazing job; I am especially impressed by Lady Gaga as she is first and foremost a singer. Bradley Cooper also make a stellar performance as always.

One of the things that I like the most about the movie is that I feel like it depicts the life as a successful musician in an honest way. It shows both the good parts (thrill of performing in front of people, wealth) as well as the bad parts (people bothering you and taking pictures of you, risk of substance abuse, managers pushing you to become someone you're not and not having your best interest in mind).

The thing I like the least about the movie is that it is such a typical American, Hollywood movie. That's just not my taste, and it made me pretty bored at times, even wishing that it would end. During the final scene I even looked at how much of the movie was left, which is not a good sign.

I got a bit bored by the singing all the time. The songs were good, for sure, I just don't find it that entertaining to watch a musician perform on a stage without anything else happening.

My favorite scene was when Jack brought Ally up on stage for the first time. It was really well done and powerful and actually brought tears to my eyes.

I will most likely never see this movie again, but I understand that people like it and I am happy to have seen it.

A Dank Review: Favorite movie of Stockholm Film Festival 2018
26 November 2018
This was the first movie I saw at 2018s Stockholm film festival - what an incredible way to start! I knew almost nothing about the movie when it started and I am happy that I didn't; it created my favorite experience from the whole festival.

I want other people to have the same amazing experience that I had which makes it very difficult to write a review. I will give you as much information as I had:

One Cut Of The Dead is a low-budget movie about a film crew shooting a zombie movie when suddenly they are attacked by zombies themselves!

That's all I knew and that's all I will tell you. Just take my word for it. Make some popcorn, gather some friends and go enjoy this fantastic movie!

Wildlife (2018)
5/10
Overhyped debute
17 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I watched this movie yesterday at Stockholm Film Festival and what a disappointment it was. I like Paul Dano as an actor a lot and had read promising reviews of the movie beforehand. Just before watching Wildlife I had seen the Palm Dior winner Shoplifters which was a wonderful piece of cinema. Maybe having seen such a wonderful movie before watching Wildlife had a negative impact of my view on Wildlife, but still, Wildlife was still the worst movie I have seen in several years. Let me explain why. There's so much I find bad about this movie that I don't have enough time to write thoroughly about it all. Maybe I will come back to this review when I have more time to update it.

First of all, I found the characters to be completely unbelievable and confusing. Jake Gyllenhaal as a dad was then out of nowhere he starts drinking, refuses to accept his job back and decides to go fight wildfires.

The son who was supposed to be 14 looks like he is 17.

The story about the girl hanging out with the son is completely forced, unnecessary and leads to nothing.

The mother does not try to hide from her son that she's cheating on her husband. She even invites the son to a dinner at his house. Then she proceeds to dance with first her son and then the man she's cheating with in front of her son, while repeatadly singing on a infuriatingly irritating "cha-cha-cha". It was one of the most cringe-worthy scenes I've ever seen in my whole life. I had to laugh and I heard several other people in the audience do the same. This happened at several times in the movie.

The son does not seem to be able to display any other emotion than disbelief by looking stupid with his mouth half open.

I had a few good laughs while watching this movie. See Shoplifters instead if you're looking for a good movie.

A great idea poorly executed
2 March 2013
A friend told me I should see this movie so tonight I finally did. I had no expectations and pretty much no idea what it was about.

After the first five minutes it seemed like a really poor movie, mostly because of weak acting, I think. Then they started talking about John's crazy claim and from then on the movie was pretty interesting. Weak acting was the biggest problem throughout the whole movie, but music, editing, directing and lighting could also have been better.

The best thing about this movie was definitely the story and it really carried it to my 6/10 rating. I really wish this great idea would've been executed better.

Very funny at times, but the end is bad
13 September 2010
Den ofrivillige golfaren is a nice Swedish comedy if you aren't looking for anything special. The acting and the story is mediocre and there's really nothing great about it. On the other hand, it contains some good jokes and it really makes you laugh at times. (Sometimes cause it's so bad (the end))

The good laughs and the mediocre acting and story ends up in a 5/10 rating, I might have given it a 6 if the end was better.

I won't ruin movie for you by telling you why I didn't like the end, but I think that if you see it for yourselves you will agree - it's really bad.

Confusing and uninteresting
2 September 2010
There was nothing good on television when I stumbled upon this movie. I quickly checked IMDb to see what rating it had and if it was worth watching, and the kinda high rating made me decide to give it a try.

At first the movie is OK and sometimes funny (when she describes the old people), but later it gets really confusing and most of all uninteresting. You just see the same thing over and over again: she goes to her old people, some Nazi gatherings, sees her boyfriend and her roommate.

The movie is very slow and there's almost no progress. The result is that it's a really boring film.

Awfully boring
27 July 2010
I was taken away by the description of this movie being one of Disney's best so I decided to watch it.

Big mistake.

This movie is REALLY BORING, and I had big problems staying awake.

I think you have to love classical music to watch this because it's like 80% about the music, and 20% about the animation.

The only good part about it about it was the one with Mickey in it, and the crocs and hippos part was watchable too.

But sadly that's not nearly enough to give this VERY BORING movie anything but 1 star.
