Interstellar (2014)
Nolan at its best?
I have been going through all sci fi movies made in past three decades. From the back to future ,aliens, the blade runner and the masterpiece A space Odyssey.
A space Odyssey have been the inspiration for the many upcoming sci fi genre and interstellar is no exception. Nolan takes it a step further by adding his trademark mind bending story though it still includes elements from Stanley Kubrick imagination.
Though it is arguable if its Nolan's magnum opus regardless it is best sci fi movie made in recent decade. The effort that has been put into it not to mention sound science explained and visual effects is an achievement on its own . This movie will inspire everyone know more about science and the vast universe we live in.
What makes interstellar unique is that perhaps we all can relate to it in someway, perhaps it is about saving humanity or the love between dad and daughter that makes him take that leap. This movie is all about what a good family sci fi movie should be about and it delivers on all levels.
Lost in Translation (2003)
Slow and personal journey
I finally watched it after it stayed on my watchlist for too many years. It was a surreal experience as the movie explores two entirely different characters and their emotional development in a busy society.
One is enjoying fame while other is turning into a woman and becoming aware of her self. Two characters meet in their own story arch and instantly connect. Emotional connection that is deep and further explores the bond between them. It is some achievement by director Sofia who had to live upto her family name. But one can see her own unique style in this piece of art . Overall it is worth your while.
Babylon (2022)
Pure Art A treat for the movie lovers.
I was eagerly waiting for this movie to be released partly because of its famous cast like Margot and BradPitt. I had a great time in the first hour and half. It surprises you and dazzles you . Music is awesome so is the acting. It has comedy, romance and tragedy.
But i must add it is a bit too long. Some scenes felt like fillers and were unnecessary. After first and half hour, whenever it started to get thrilling it immediately slowed down. This up and down is out of place.
Other than that it is amazing. For anyone who loves cinema this movie is a piece of pure art. It will make you think and feel a range of emotions. In this age where CGI rules the cinema, this piece of art is bold, unique and deserves appreciation. Gotta love for what it is. I would totally recommend it.
Bullet Train (2022)
Full of adrenaline
This is a much needed action movie audience have been craving. Just grab some popcorns and relax on a weekend night and have a blast. It is made to thrill the audience and full of suspence from the start.
It is stylishly made with good colour gradient. The acting is great and story proceeds with good pacing, sometime too fast perhaps for some viewers.
But it is enjoyable . Brad pitt is star of the movie and captures the screen every time he is in the scene.
One thing is for sure that it becomes rather predictable at times and viewers starts to have an idea wha is going to happen next.
Over all a good watch.
The Northman (2022)
Not your average viking movie
I have read some not so good reviews of the movie. Most of viewers are not so pleased with the movie .i guess they had higher expectations.
I was excited a lot after watching the poster and the trailer of the movie. It looked very promising. Though it was not exactly what i had in mind but it was also not disappointing. The movie has a unique style of its own. Its very mythical and mostly revolves revenge and our protagonist have to go a lot of development to progress where he is in position to take revenge. The costumes and cinematography is top notch . Soundtrack also makes it more immersive i know what critics are saying but drop your expectations and rather than reading other reviews go watch this movie.
The Matrix (1999)
What a masterpiece
One of the best science fiction movie ever made. Audience is immersed right from the beginning. The story that tends to make us question reality. Humanity is being held hostage by advanced form of A. I and humans are used as energy source. The story is great ,with costume design and special effects. Bullet time and slow motion effects were prioneering in this movie and are used to great effect. The several concepts of religion and science are presented how everything is related. This movie is just not a piece of art but also represents the correlation of cinema with philosophical ideas. A must watch.
Prison Break (2005)
Adrenaline ride
I didnt know what i was getting into. I only watched the pilot and i was hooked. Fast paced and thrilling ,leaves you at the edge of your seat. Suspence and intrigue, brilliant plot and characters. Micheal scofield is star of the show with everything already planned.
First season was the best in the series.original and thrilling.they carried that pace into the second as well .i recommend first two seaons to everyone. But after two seasons it got boring and predictable. Same old stuff, brothers never catching a break.
Blade Runner (1982)
Surreal and breathtaking experience
I cant believe this flick was released in 1982 .i can praise this movie all i want but it wouldnt do justice .you have to see it yourself. The set and cinematography is way ahead of its time.you will feel like living in those conditions with those characters. Good performances from everyone specialy Mr Rutger did great job.
Ad Astra (2019)
slow paced adventure. Deserve a watch
Bradpitt joins the space race as well. There are lot of movies out there in this genre. Some fails to deliver and some are extraordinary like interstellar by Nolan. Ad astra might not be for everyone.it tries to explore the impact of space travel on physcology and how humans adapt to it in case we do venture far away in our solar system.visuals are breathtaking so is cinematography. Brad has done justice to his character as always.it is slow and may be some science is off so i understand the rating as low as 1 here. But if you patient enough to let it absorb and just enjoy it for what it is, its a wonderful film and good acheivement on behalf of the director. Give it a shot you wont regret it.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)
A fun watch
I was not interested in watching it earlier but after they redisgned the sonic in new trailer i thought to give it a go.dont expect a blockbuster so no high hopes but hey its a sonic movie with jim carrey as dr robotnik.couldnt be more cooler than this. They done a pretty good job on the movie storytellling and overall graphics are pretty good.a fun family movie
Knives Out (2019)
mystery with a touch of humour
A fresh addition in mystery genre.great performance by daniel craig.Plot is engaging enough to keep you interesting with good character development,a little perdictable at times but overall a good movie if you are looking to watch with family.
1917 (2019)
brilliant
I always have loved war movies but never got to experience it in the cinema.i am glad i did it this time and took time to watch this visual treat.it was bit slow for me in the start but it paced steadily.cinematography is extraordinary to give viewers the realtime war experience.Emotional raw and haunting.
