If you want to watch a GREAT version of The Letter you need to watch Bette Davis, 1940 movie. It was rated much higher then Remicks version. Remick didn't have the stuff to even make this. Remicks was just a made for tv movie while Davis stole the show in her movie version. Why do they continue to remake classic movies and then fail?

Michael Keaton and his part just ruined the movie. I gave it 7 stars because the beginning of the movie with Danny DeVito was GREAT! Keatons role was beyond mediocre and his entire part ruined the movie with a bad script.

This movie should have been one of those that were made for tv. I watch previews and make a list of what I want to go see. Usually I grab a nice lunch and then hit an afternoon movie. After eating, I should have went and washed my car.

John Goodman needs to stick to the Roseanne show.

Who wants to watch a bratty entitled poor actor like Jayden Smith? They only wrote in that part probably because of his dad. He had nothing to do with the movie at all. With his incessant back talk he helped ruin this movie.

The professor had about 60 seconds in the film. What? He was instrumental in helping people realize we had to change. GORT had an even lesser role. HOW DISAPPOINTING WAS THAT?

Way to ruin a former episode of Star Trek. I honestly think this is the last episode I will watch. I am not a fan. I've seen a couple of good ones but this was the last straw. So fake. So utterly worthless. Fake reviews are becoming more prevalent.

Sonequa's part is the least credible of them all. I loved her in the Walking Dead and she should have stayed on. She has zero "Vulcan" qualities. The new Spock is even worse. Long hair, a beard and totally unbelievable cast as a lead character.

The show, in my opinion won't last to see a 3rd season.

Wow, they totally hyped this movie only to leave fans in the dirt. Within the first 30 minutes, I saw at least 10 people get up and leave. I looked at my watch and hate to say this but one hour in, we left too.

We went and had a nice steak dinner so our whole day wasn't ruined.

I'm getting tired of seeing a movie rated highly only to know it is probably employees logging in or people paid to do so.

This movie was so horrible I left and didn't finish watching it. Viagra jokes were funny when you were 14. It's worse than the same rehash in sequel movies. Same tired premise with very bad writing. The funeral concept has been done before. I wouldn't finish watching this movie if it was free on Netflix. Yes, it was that bad in my opinion. It's as if they just shoved everyone in front of a camera and thought they were funny. Yet the audience wasn't laughing.

This was no documentary. This was poor acting at it's finest. This wasn't scripted, that's for sure. I watched this and was in utter disbelief that they thought this was worth releasing to the public. Nonsensical, unbelievable, made up, what can one say? It's a farce. Zero proof there was a ghost. Zero proof anything happened at all.

If you want to watch a guy with a cell phone cast for an hour then this movie is for you.

This movie tried to portray him as a victim. No matter how "mean" she was, he still had no right to kill her. Bottom line is he is a common murderer.

I just read where they did not take into account that he was sexually molested as a child and he wants totally freed.

The people of Carthidge only liked this guy because he spread the money around of the dead victim. That shows their true colors and Godless ways. To support a murderer because "she was mean and deserved it" really sets the tone of that town How sad. Mass pity for a murderer. What if he had killed a child? He would be burned at the stake. But because it was a woman who the city did not like sort of justifies it? Insanity. IF he was abused as a kid, so what? He clearly went to schooling to become an assistant mortician. He clearly moved on with his life. He traveled the world. He did not hole up because of years of abuse and stay in that world. He knew exactly what he was doing. First class all the way. Giving away her money. Ingratiating himself for attention. He was closeted gay and didn't want to come out. It shows he still made adult decisions, especially when it came to her finances. I credit the stock broker for him even being discovered.

I don't like the way the movie portrayed the victim at all. As people grow older they get lonely. Relatives sued her for money and lost. The get old, lonely and Bernie saw an opportunity. He wanted to live a nice lifestyle. Elderly people are often victims of abuse and scams. This movie should have portrayed him as exactly that.

The movie had very good acting. The interviews with the towns people made it seem more real. Like everyone wants to see the true behind the scenes dirt on the mean old lady. They are lucky it wasn't them. Remind me never to move or visit that backwoods redneck town. I might get killed and they'd picket to have the murderer released.

What a huge disappointment. In this movie, this kid sure is no chip off the old block. It was painstakingly slow to watch.

I was really mad at the ending. Without spoiling anything, I saw at least 6 different guys take shots and miss that they should have made easily. What was up with that? You can't shoot something that close? You are all experienced gun handlers living out in the wild west, Indian country, and you couldn't shoot a 5 gallon jug on a rock 30 feet from you? The movie was as if it was made on a very small budget and the acting was so general that I paused the movie quite a few times as I was fixing dinner and doing laundry. Yes it was one of those movies.

I would never ever watch this movie again, even in 20 years.

Here on IMDb.com I read "sonofhades" review. He pretty much summed up the entire movie.

This is a very very long and boring movie. It was like watching bits and pieces of the other movies reused because they could not come up with a better plot or dialogue. It was just awful to sit through and watch.

I noticed others were squirming in their chairs, uncomfortable because the movie just didn't keep them interested.

I heard a lot of grumbling on the way out.

It is clear that some of the audience members felt exactly like I did. I felt cheated out of my ticket price and should have waited for this to be run on a free HBO weekend. As long as I didn't have anything else to do that night, like paint a room, scrape old wax off the floor, etc.

Seriously, I wish I would have read more on IMDb.com before I went out to see it. I just didn't think because all the hype made me one of those fans that just dove in without looking. I won't do that again. Nextime, I'll wait for the next Star Wars movie to come out on a DVD for a freebie with coupon from Redbox.

Ever watch a movie and it was so fantastic that you've watched it repeatedly? Ever watch and old John Wayne movie where each time you watch it, you get a feel that it only keeps getting better? The Hateful8 is NOT one of those movies. I thought the gay scene came just out of nowhere and certainly isn't going to be a movie where you would ever want to watch this disaster again.

I didn't like this movie at all. I rated it a 2. I would never watch it again. It had a fake django type feel to it where the characters weren't real at all. The N bombs were filled throughout the movie.

The scenery was great, the horses and carriages appeared authentic. That's why I gave it a two.

When I saw this movie was rated a 9.1 I was thrilled because I haven't seen movies rated that high and thought I'd see something GREAT!. I watched but was hugely disappointed. I stopped it a few times to go get something to drink, throw in a load of laundry and made dinner. It just wasn't the riveting 9.1 that other reviewers are making it out to be.

What is up with the 7.5 out of 10 ratings? I watched this because of that.

"Granny" is played by an actress who is about 55-65. She has lived in the house 63 years. Granny was no granny at all. The acting was absolutely horrible. The actors read their dialogue as if they had just read the line before they said it. No emotions whatsoever.

This was a horror movie? This was more of a very bad acting, poorly produced movie. I rated it a 1 out of 10. Don't waste your time watching this. You can always find something better to do.

Seriously, this was an absolute calamity and shouldn't even be considered a "movie". 1 out of 10 is pretty bad and won't even make Walmarts 99 cent dust bin.

How many times have we searched in vain for a "good movie". We all say, "they just don't make good movies anymore".

THIS is one of them. I watched it from start to finish. I would watch it again and tell others to watch it. It was one of the finest movies I have watched in a long, long time. The entire cast did a fantastic believable job in making this story come to life.

It was something you could watch with the entire family. It literally gives you an inside view of how "hired help" was treated back then. It also showed you what it was like to be part of the upper elite and how so many dared not speak their opinions for fear of being cast out.

It showed you that not only did the help do their jobs but some of them honestly cared for members of the family they worked for.
