Pitfire of Hell (2016)
Everything you could ask for from a horror comedy
I saw this today at the Louisville Days of the Dead, and what a gem. I'm not going to spoil any of the movie because it's definitely something that needs to be experienced from a fresh perspective. The thing I loved the most about it is you could tell the people making it were having a good time doing so. It felt like a movie for the fans by the fans. It was multi-layered in its' comedic approach. It was like a really good Troma flick minus the transvestites and penis monsters. That's my only spoilers; no transvestites(that I was aware of) and no penis monsters.
If you're at a convention and you see this movie on the screening list give it a chance and you'll laugh your ass off.
She Was So Pretty (2016)
Hard to sit through but for wrong reasons...
I watched this movie last night at Days of the Dead in Louisville after seeing it heavily hyped throughout the day. I appreciate the effort that went into the movie but I left unsure of what the movie was trying to accomplish. It tried really hard to establish itself in too many sub-genres along the way to really gain a foothold in any of them. The main character was a creepy guy, there's no doubt about that. He has this Jeffrey Dahmer vibe about him from a physical standpoint. The music was decent, and the way it was shot made me hopeful... But it was all downhill from there. For a movie that promises to be so gritty that you'll need to take a shower after watching it, I left feeling more like I needed to drink a Jagerbomb to recoup my motivation.
