This show is a blast
8 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I don't think I ever saw a show to which I can relate that much... First of all I know a lot of girls addicted to alcohol and ruining their lives... I'll admit, that at first it seemed quite unrealistic that Gas meets women that are interested in him pretty much everywhere he goes, but people need to notice the details on why he is attractive to these women... Gas is not a an alpha male, nor he is a complete loser... He is not physically attractive, he is not rich, he can be quite boring and insecure at times, but there is one super important feature about him: he does not let women walk over him and I believe this is one of the most important features to be an attractive man. Women will not admit it, but they generally go after men that respect themselves... The show starts with Gas girlfriend telling she cheated on him... He does not try to forgive her or win her over, or bend himself in front of her to keep her, he just does the right thing - dumps that witch straight away... Another example of Gas being a man... Mickey(new hot girl he met) invites hime to a party , Gas waits for her for half a day and when she comes, guess what she does? She runs after her Ex boyfriend... What does Gas do ? He does the right thing - no, he does not hang around Mickey while she chats to her ex, he goes to the centre of the room, picks a guitar and joins a local music band for a song... What happens to Mickey? She notices him again, because a boring Gas suddenly becomes the centre of everyone's attention...What Mickey does? She approches him right in a middle of his song to take him away for a chat... But Gas is not an idiot, he ignores her and does the right thing - he finishes the song and goes chatting to another chick that genuinely got interested in him... That is the kind of show this is, this show teaches how to be a man that women love and rescpect when you can not be a muscled boy with a pretty face running around a hot girl fulfilling her every wish...

MMO film made right
30 September 2018
I just watched the film for a second time and I enjoyed it no less than the first time, I thought this doesn't happen any more... Most of the Hollywood films feel very similar nowadays , with same old shoot and chase scenes... Although there is a lot of shoot and chase in !Ready Player One", the film makers had a creative approach towards the film action... Every gun, every outfit every character has a special detail added to it, it's a nerd film made with deep love of pop culture... I think what makes the film different from a lot of other similar movies is the side story of Oasis creator, which adds a story within a story ... An important thing to mention that overall experience of on-line gaming community is presented in a correct way which makes this film more enjoyable for those who like on-line computer games... Although we might be 30 years away from Oasis becoming a reality, I hope some day I will see it too...

The good the bad and the ugly
24 May 2018
It is quite amazing what Gareth Edwards managed to achieve with nearly the same budget on Rogue One... I can't say Solo is a bad film, nor I can say it's a good one... Guess what, in 2018 we have a perfectly average Star Wars film... Solo seems to have a lot of Deja Vu moments that seem to come mostly from Return of the Jedi, it is sad they're not the best ones though..The set design is average, the technology design is average, the story is average, the acting on the other hand is actually good... The first third of the film starts pretty well, but soon enough we are introduced to the local Jabba and there's even a thermal detonator around... I think the middle is the most problematic part of the film, the infamous Kessel run is the most vague space chase in the history of Star Wars, something seems to be happening, but you do not see much , nor you are bothered to see, it's just loads of smoke, explosions, tie fighters and asteroids flying around so you are not even paying attention on what exactly is happening... Then suddenly comes the ending sequence which is actually surprisingly good because you finally get some unexpected plot twists, some action that matters and an introduction to a character you did not expect to see at all, the END... Almost forgot you also get a new incarnation of Jar Jar with feminist attitude whom Lando ... No see it for yourself...

Lost in Space (2018–2021)
8/10
It's literally "LOST" but in space
15 April 2018
I will start this review as someone who never watched the original, but watched the 1998 version... The 1998 version, which is a very bad film by itself is what I was preparing for before watching this, so my expectations were pretty low from the beginning... Did I enjoy this ? - Absolutley... The Tv show starts in the middle of story, without explaining too much about how the characters got where they are and as the action proceeds, the story unfolds itself bit by bit through flashbacks in a "LOST" style... The dialogues are not stunning but they're not bad either, the CG and sets look stunning, it is a very high production TV show after all...The story is intriguing enough for me to binge watch it... Now there are some inaccuracies in science, like ice freezing too quick, but most of shows have some dumb moments anyway even "S.T.:Next Generation" ... This show reminds me "Earth 2" most of all so far which I enjoyed in 1994 and which is where JJ Abrams stole his "LOST" ideas from... Now if you enjoy sci fi with a good story and superb looking scenery, you will love that, but people who's favorite films are "K- Pax", "Gattaca" or "Space Odyssey 2001" would better re-watch "Martian" or something...

A lot of reviewers seem to be giving extremely negative reviews for no reason really... Don't get me wrong the Tv show has some minor flaws, but generally it's pretty great...

Prometheus>Covenant>Nostromo>Sulaco and David is sick...
12 May 2017
To be honest I actually wait when Ridley Scott stops making films about Aliens and makes a grand Sci Fi where the characters discover a Dyson Sphere or a Rama ship...

That soundtrack that they used in both Prometheus and A.C. implies "WE WANT TO EXPLORE, WE DON'T WANT MORE OF THE GORE"...

Prometheus was more about exploration to a certain point, but with Covenant they ran out of Steam completely... The trailer implied that in a film you would see what happened to Elizabeth, why the Engineers created that virus, but what we get is no explanation whatsoever, to be honest the story route "David is a sick bastard" reminds me when in "Matrix" Wachowski suddenly decided to make agent Smith the root of all evil...

Overall the film was enjoyable to watch once, but not a single moment left me surprised although the space scenes were visually great... The main character of this film is not Daniels it's David... The moment when first chestburster appears is literally Ridley's "Look, look!! - I created it and not anybody else!!!"

The metaphor of the final scene when David saves a couple of alien embryos is not for the sake of a sequel, but it's for the sake of saying:

" - Come on , you know who is the main character there, nobody cares about another female survivor or a deep space exploration mission, you all came there for the gore... " And that is why exactly we will be seeing this over and over again and again and Ridley won't bother writing a grand Sci-Fi about Dyson Spheres ...

A show with a lot of potential
23 April 2017
This show could possibly be the best sci-fi show on TV but there are things it lacks... The story is pretty decent, a cold war between 3 space faring factions with a discovery of alien life... So the story, visual effects are all great, but the acting could be better... The most memorable actors in this show are the leaders of Earth(Iranian woman) and Belter(Black Guy) factions. Another thing to mention that if you compare this show to Star Trek, Babylon5 or Battlestar Galactica despite the visual effects being on a level as good or better in Expanse the scale of the show is actually quite small right now compared to others, because all the action is happening in our Solar System so far, where in other shows mentioned above the scale would be entire galaxy, hell I miss Babylon5...

Gotham (2014–2019)

A City of Villains
20 April 2017
If you like Batman you probably have seen most of the Batman films, hence you will most probably enjoy Gotham... In fact the only people who do not like it are probably Batman Comic Nerds who want strict consistency...

Why I love Gotham?I think it is all about the characters that had troubled lives... I love Penguin, Nigma, Barbara, Alfred, Harvey, Butch, Leslie & Gordon...Bruce is there for the sake of it, but great acting though...

The back stories are great, the performance is stellar, all characters are messed up as hell and all have troubled lives and romance, they are all twisted but so alive. I think Gotham is the only of the "Hero" type shows that offers not a typical good vs evil predictable show (Smallville,Flash,Arrow,Shield,Supergirl etc ), but some crazy

ride full of madness and joy...

IT is a serious Business
19 April 2017
It is hard to describe how much love I have for this TV show as an IT professional who builds Personal Computers himself. If you love IT as much as I do, then this must be the first show on your list of TV shows to watch in the next 24 hours. If you are still wondering why you should watch this. Joe, Gordon, Cameron these names don't tell you much, but each of them has a story to tell, a story which will be very familiar to everyone working in a competitive technology business... This is a story of an attempt to change the world, it's a story of hard work, sacrifice and ingenuity as well as a story of exploitation competition, success failure and self discovery... I don't want to spoil anything, enjoy it yourself...

Ghost in The Shell is Ghost in the Shell, nothing more nothing less
30 March 2017
The producers of this film decided either play it safe or maybe there

were too many fans on the production team... As someone who has seen Gits, Gits2, Gits3 and 1st and 2nd Gig all I can say - IT IS GHOST IN THE SHELL...

To find out what is Ghost in The shell one needs to look for it's cyberpunk inspiration roots a bit deeper, maybe look a bit at Blade runner. The original Manga of Gits was written in 1989 and I do believe the author was inspired somewhat by Blade Runner.... What did these two had in common? It was Atmosphere!!! An atmosphere of this computerized robotized future world where people are very similar to robots and robots similar to people.

Now if you look at this new film as an old GITS fan - it does not add anything new to the story, but it keeps the main elements intact with quite a deep precision. I think pretty much every key scene of the original anime film was added to the new film, the story had some differences however, but overall feeling stayed the same.

Scarlet is a perfect actress for this role, the funny thing is though it is not a role or character which required to show deep emotions... The only scene that disappointed me was the spider tank battle, it simply lacked the dynamics that the original anime had...

Overall it's a nice sci-fi action film with neat looking cyberpunk environments, even in 1997 it wasn't revolutionary ideas wise, but the sci-fi elements felt much fresher back then, if you go to watch it as a GITS fan you will be OK with it, if you go to watch it as someone new to GIST universe, well that's a decent introduction...

A sweet Romantic Sci fi Love story
25 March 2017
I don't know why there is so much hate for this film, but I think it's probably because people stopped dreaming and tinder turned romance into shopping. This film is not an action packed "Gravity", nor it is as intense as "Martian", but being a single sci-fi nerd I enjoyed this film. Quite possibly it's a film more targeted at men. Yes I get that in reality there is a communication delay between Mars and Earth, in reality we don't have transparent notebooks yet, in reality a city on Mars is 50 years away from now, in reality no girl would wait a boy for 7 months and then go through years of an astronaut training program to see him again(oh wait he ain't even a dream man of every woman on Earth,50 Shades is that way>>). So boring realists, please just leave this film for hopeless romantics who dream about cities on Mars and a sweet tender teenage love...

This awakened emotions in me unlike LalaLand
17 February 2017
It's hard to define the genre of this film, but it was a decent romance and a decent thriller... Marion Cottillard makes every film a mystery. Some say there was no tension and they are wrong, nobody knew if she is a spy or not right until the end scene. I enjoyed every moment of this film from action scenes right until the ending credits. Quite likely the film will not get a single Oscar, but the story and performance were stellar. I felt deeply emotional at the end of the film. It will be sad if a fake romance of Lalaland will win anything over this suspense love story...

Emerald City (2016–2017)

A breath of Fresh Air
8 February 2017
Why this show scores lower than 8 is a pure mystery to me, maybe because the show is more intelligent than an average fantasy show out there... I am a big fan of Game of Thrones and I can see there is a lot of inspiration in Emerald City that comes from Game of Thrones, the difference however is - no tits, violence and sex ... I think one of the reasons why I like the show is that it has a certain touch of realism politics and characters being somewhat messed up. Just look at them - everyone apart from Dorothy is obsessed with either power, revenge control or magic...

The Story 9/10

A cold war between 2 kingdoms and witches that are an opposite of each other

Characters 10/10

Love the wizard, the 2 sister witches are a contrast of chaos and order, Dorothy - a sweetie, Jack/ Tip/ Masked Princess are a blast!

Environment design 9/10

The sets, locations and computer Graphics are great!

A modern musical about those who pursue a Dream
16 January 2017
Lalaland is sad. I don't know what I was expecting from a film that gathered so much attention... Probably I was expecting a lot of music and everyone singing... I was expecting a nice love story and a happy end. And if it was all I got it would be a musical version of "Notebook", but things got just a little more complicated. If you want to achieve something you need to sacrifice a lot. I think the main idea behind this film is expressed when they meet after his first concert. I understand perfectly why she reacted the way she did for his first performance in a band and I understand perfectly why he enjoyed what he was not that much into, it was a first success in a path of grim failures... She started to see him as bit of a different person, who betrayed a bit of himself and she felt sort of cheated. But was that the problem really? From my point of view, he always loved her and probably waited for her, right until the end... But did she ? To sum up, don't go to this film with a date, it will leave a bitter feeling. The film is about sacrifices in a creative career and about the love of one man.

The Force is Strong with this one
16 December 2016
I will admit after a certain disappointment with Force Awakens I had low expectations when going to this... In fact I was terribly afraid I'd have the same depression for a week like after watching Force Awakens, but mate, how wrong I was...

Cinematography : From the first shot in space you see, this is a space scene done the right way... The director puts the shots and lighting in a way so that it all looked as if you actually lived out there...

Story : we all know how it ends pretty much, yes it's a simple story it was obvious from the trailer, but believe it or not there are moments that will make you feel for both heroes and villains, there is a sense of danger, you know the stakes are high and you know any of these characters can die any time...

Characters: By the end of the film Jyn will become your Joan of Arc in Star Wars universe... Every single sarcastic moment will come out of the mouth of K-2SO, he will make your day... Ben Mendelson did a great performance as villain, the decisions his character made are not as good as what Thrawn would do but, his last moment will be epic!!!

Attention to details and Universe: Now I will say, George Lucas will be proud, the space battle in the end is on an epic scale, no lame dark shots like Force Awakens, the battle is in the Orbit of a Blue planet, every detail on every ship looks great, the fleet operations are stunning, special thanks to Ramming Frigate!!!

Resurrected Characters : Those will make your jaw drop...

In Conclusion I should say, yes they took a lot of ideas from Return of The Jedi, but mate, they made it right and improved upon it...

A must see for every true Fan, more than once...

Jyn Forever!!!

The Force is Calling to you...
17 December 2015
Warning: Spoilers
From the first scene in Space a fan will notice the cinematography difference...The acting is good, the characters are good, the story flows somewhere, but where? I have been a fan of Star Wars since 5 and I wanted to see what happened next... All the basic blocks of Star Wars are present, but some are missing, which are the details... George Lucas is a genius... Even though people might hate "Phantom menace", you couldn't call it unoriginal, there was no fan service either. I will admit, I left the cinema with a lot of exact same questions that I had before the film... What happened to the New Republic? What happened to the Empire? What happened to Luke Skywalker? What happened to Imperial fleet?Who is Snoke? Partially you get the answers to these questions, but those answers are lazy.It also seems like the republic hasn't built a single capital ship in 20 years, nor it bothered to develop the new star fighter types. Don't get me wrong, the film is a hell enjoyable ride for the three quarters of it, but then you just get a rehash of the "New Hope", I've seen this in "Into Darkness" before. It also seems that JJ does not quite understand the concept of the "Jedi" and the "Force". It seems like anyone can use a Lightsaber and fight a trained Sith fighter in "Force Awakens". They tried to make the new villain as similar to Darth Vader as possible, but failed. Vader wasn't a psycho, he was intimidating. There was supposed to be a Jedi fighting Kylo Ren to protect the new characters, unfortunately they can take care of themselves without one. Who needs the Jedi training when you can kick the ass of the main villain 5 min after you took the Lightsaber? The Death of one of the main characters was as much as unnecessary as the 3d Death Star. Overall I am sure this film will find new fans and probably gather a few billions in ticket sales, but the Universe it portrays is not as detailed as the one George Lucas created...

A show that isn't a spin off or sequel
4 July 2015
How long it's been since we saw a spaceship based show which is not a spin off, sequel or reboot? Yes Star Trek, Stargate and BSG spin offs were successful in many ways, but still they didn't offer a brand new Universe. Right now this show looks like some sort of inspiration from Firefly/Andromeda/Cowboy Bebop with a feel of EVE online if you know what I am talking about and I am absolutely loving it... I can see Joseph Mallozzi learned a couple of lessons from SGU failure, so now the producers of the show try to balance action with a slow story development and hints on how far and global the story can go... It's great, the ending of episode 4 boosts imagination - jump clones, a killed emperor, potential intergalactic conflict... And the humor, it's not dumb... So if you like intelligent Space sci-fi with bits of mystery , you're welcome...
