An OK Film When All Is Said and Done
29 October 2023
While the film was faithful to the lore of the games, as well as delivering a fun experience for fans of the franchise, nothing really blew me away. The acting was pretty good across the board with only a few iffy performances, and the design of the restaurant was pretty close to the games. My main issues come from a lack of scares as well as pacing issues. The film feels too long with quite a few periods of inactivity, and if you are expecting this to be a security guard horror centric movie akin to the games, you will be disappointed. This film is more focused on its characters and their state of mind, which isn't much of a negative, but would likely be a let down if you come into this film with the expectation that it will be a horror experience dripping with tension and jumpscares. Overall, I found the film enjoyable enough, but there is definitely room for improvement and, hopefully if there is a sequel, it can delve deeper into the horror elements of the franchise and present a more interesting plot.

Perhaps the Greatest Animated Film Ever Made
27 April 2022
Watching this masterpiece, I felt as though I were unworthy, and like the ending of Raiders of the Lost Ark, I had to look away as I feared my face would melt from the sheer perfection that is Rat Movie.

Tied for best MCU movie in my opinion
20 December 2021
When it came to my favorite MCU movie, I felt that Infinity War could not be beat. However, after seeing Spider-Man: No Way Home, I cannot justify rating it below Infinity War, nor can I rate it higher as I felt Infinity War was the apex of what Marvel could achieve (Endgame is close, but the convoluted time travel aspect of it did bring it down a bit) and the same can be said of this film. Everything about it is great and beyond anything else in the MCU, bringing a great deal of humor, heartache, and exhilaration throughout the runtime. The film is also darker than I expected, managing to be one of the darkest films in the MCU. Effects were great, story was cohesive and provided great stakes and covered all corners providing a satisfying and well rounded plot, and the acting was top notch. The only flaw I could find is minor in that a certain aspect of the ending proved to be very concerning in how the dynamic of future Spider-Man movies in this universe could change, but I feel that if kept in capable hands, my concerns with subsequent films will be put to rest. An all-around fantastic Marvel movie, Spider-Man movie, and movie overall.

Malignant (I) (2021)

Campy Fun
30 September 2021
Do not come into this film expecting another Conjuring or Insidious. Instead, Malignant is more of a psychological thriller, slasher, and body horror film wrapped all in one with a good dose of camp. I found the film to be incredibly entertaining and enjoyable after coming into it with the knowledge (as the reviews I saw said to expect a campy experience) that it wasn't just another James Wan haunted house movie and I had a great time watching it.

Fantastic
18 December 2020
In one roughly 40 minute episode, The Mandalorian tops the prequel trilogy in action, acting, set pieces, and overall story. A fantastic episode that brings the Star Wars of the past back.

Just ok
6 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This film could have been much better than it was. While not a bad movie, it doesn't ever justify its existence other than explaining some of the legends behind Han Solo that didn't need to be explained. The film has some pacing issues, mostly during the first act as it has to introduce characters, important settings, and begin the adventure all within around 30 minutes, causing the film to go through exposition followed by intense action and more exposition. The second act is fairly standard, and the third act is where the film picks up with the Kessel Run sequence and the introduction of the first rebels. Overall, however, the film is uneven and can feel pointless at times and never feels like the great Star Wars adventure it should be, often feeling like a film Frankensteined together with reshoots, probably due to the switching of directors between filming. Give it a watch if you want.

The closest we have gotten to the Originals
6 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Rogue One is the first Star Wars film that feels similar to the originals since The Phantom Menace. Taking place during the Empire's rule yet again, we follow the rebels on a suicide mission in collecting the Death Star plans. The acting is incredible, the characters, while not the most interesting, definitely have chemistry and a sense of camaraderie between them, and the effects are some of the best out of all Star Wars films. The best of the Disney Star Wars films.

I honestly don't hate it
6 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you asked me 4 years ago what my least favorite Star Wars film was, it would be this one. Remembering the last time I watched it being when I was 7, I thought it was boring and uneventful and not worthy of a rewatch and until I was 17, I didn't watch it. However, after watching it at an older age, I appreciated the film more. Of course the Gungans are annoying, the CGI dated, and some of the dialogue is messy, the film sets up Anakin and his relationship with Obi-Wan and Padme, as well as fleshing out Obi-Wan's past. The fights are memorable for the most part, especially the last one, the manipulation starting within the government of the Republic is intriguing, and overall it feels like more is happening to move Anakin's story forward than the second film and does so in a more memorable way.

A Very Flawed Star Wars Film
6 January 2020
When I made my original review for this film, I must have been in a bad mood. While I can say that this is one of the lesser Star Wars films, it is in no way as bad as Episodes 8 or 9. I would place this just above 9 and way above 8 (8 is lying at the depths compared to the rest). The Film has stilted dialogue, effects that have begun to age, and a romance plot that feels awkward most of the time. However, there are some creative set pieces on display and the character of Count Dooku is a welcome addition the Star Wars universe. In addition to this, it serves a greater purpose within the Star Wars universe in setting up The Clone Wars and providing details that are necessary to understanding Anakin's change in character, thus providing more of a reason to exist in the canon than any of the sequel films do. Overall, not great but not as bad as I originally thought.

An all time favorite
6 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
While I understand many don't like the prequels because of the poor dialogue and, at times, acting, I feel this film has less of it than the last two and brings the story of Anakin Skywalker's turn to the dark side to a satisfying conclusion. The film is the darkest in the franchise, has many great fight scenes, Palpatine is a joy to watch, and while still having some issues with dialogue, I can't knock the film down points because I thoroughly enjoy it overall. Ewan McGregor stands out as Obi-Wan, and with so many iconic moments in the film it ranks as one of my favorite Star Wars films.

Highly Underrated Star Wars film
6 January 2020
I don't understand why when I ask people to rank their favorite Star Wars films, this one is constantly at the bottom? Is it because of the Ewoks? Because other than people having gripes with them I can't see many flaws. The story is great as always, the fights amazing, the effects outstanding, the interactions between characters are top notch, and it wraps up the trilogy really well. One of my favorite Star Wars films and really underrated.

The Best of the Star Wars franchise
6 January 2020
This film is the Star Wars film that will always serve as the bar to which all Star Wars films that are released must strive to reach. The story is darker than the first, more interesting than the first, and has so many iconic moments that it is impossible not to think of them when you think of Star Wars. Amazing acting, characters, set pieces, effects, new worlds, arguably my favorite lightsaber duel in Star Wars, and plenty of great plot twists, this film is a truly legendary film.

A True Classic
6 January 2020
While A New Hope is not my favorite Star Wars film, it was the film that got me into Star Wars, and ultimately, inspired my love for film in general. It will always be a movie close to my heart. Great acting, characters, story, and effects for its time. An all around outstanding film.

A decent Star Wars film
6 January 2020
When this film first released I would have rated it a 9, mostly out of the exhilaration of a new Star Wars film being released. However, after sitting on it for a few years, I believe it deserves a 5. The film follows the first Star Wars film too closely and feels like a rehash of things we have already experienced. However, with solid acting, decent to great characters (Kylo Ren), and having excellent effects, the film is competently made. However, in service of the greater Star Wars canon, it provides very little and, with the sequel trilogy complete, becomes a wholly inconsequential story. Most of what is introduced here is either borrowed from Episode 4 or is retconned later, thus I cannot suggest watching any of the sequel trilogy film other than for the spectacle. It is truly a shame, as this film, and the sequel trilogy, could have been much better with creative and passionate minds behind the camera and a concrete plan as to where the story would go.

A Failure
6 January 2020
The Rise of Skywalker, upon rewatch, is hard to place. Some things I enjoyed, most I hate. And thus, when it comes to rating this, I struggle between a four and a five. Thus I will leave a five to be more lenient, though I must say this movie is pretty dumb at times. While not as bad as The Last Jedi, it certainly is still a bad Star Wars Film. Rewatching all of the films in order shows just how off these sequels feel. If I had to place it amongst my ranking of Star Wars films, it would be just above The Last Jedi. Everything else is basically better. I regret that I ever said this was better than Solo, or Episode 2. At least Episode 2 had some entertaining battles, while this did not. An uneven, directionless film that throws continuity and logic to the wind for spectacle.

Dull and boring
22 September 2019
Captain Marvel does everything by the numbers and brings nothing interesting to the table. Brie Larson is not charismatic enough to portray the character well and Captain Marvel cones off as arrogant and cocky without any consequences befalling her because of her being overpowered. She displays almost no weaknesses and is not a very relatable character for the audience. On top of this, the film is a formulaic origin story with no distinct tone. Overall, the film fails to do anything meaningful so that it can stand out in the vastness of the MCU.

Great
17 September 2019
While not quite as good as the first one, and having a disappointing final form for Pennywise, these aspects do not serve to detract from the overall quality and enjoyment I had while watching the film. The cast was outstanding, the direction superb, and, for the most part, the writing tight. With a few missteps towards the end keeping it from being as good as it could be, I still feel that this film does justice to Stephen King's book, and even improves the ending of said book in some cases. Overall, I recommend seeing it as, even though it doesn't quite reach the bar the first film set, it does manage to be an emotional and deep character study that engages to the end.

An amazing series
22 May 2019
Save for season 8, this series is one of the best ever to be on television. Watch seasons 1-7 and ignore 8 if you want, but I won't be penalizing the entire show for one bad season. I still love the show and think its up there with Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, and Deadwood as all time great shows.

Doesn't sit well the longer I think about it
20 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I originally gave this episode a 10 out of 10 because I was caught up in the spectacle, but now, after hearing the opinions of others and thinking about the episode, it doesn't hold up as well. While still a good episode, the writing is what brings it down so much. The build up to the Night King and everything ending in one battle is anticlimactic, as well as the fact that Azor Ahai reborn, the main prophecy of R'hllor never comes to fruition. Ultimately I feel it is definitely better than most of the episodes this season, but that's not saying much. Still I enjoyed it decently but it has dropped significantly in my eyes as I have had more time to think about this episode.

An Updated Review Post Season 8
13 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
After seeing the entirety of Season 8 as well as having time to reflect on this episode as a whole, I realize how blinded by spectacle I was. This episode certainly provides action and entertainment in a visual sense, but I found myself poking holes in the plot afterward. Why are certain characters shown to make emotional 180s in the course of a few minutes? Why is the most compelling aspect of this episode a brief duel that was foreshadowed many episodes ago between two brothers? Why do the characters feel cheap and two-dimensional, as if the writing is pushing them along rather than the actual circumstances? While first witnessing this episode, I feel that the spectacle overshadowed these story based issues and, upon the dogs**t finale, these flaws are made ever clearer. This episode has become, in my opinion, one of the most shallow episodes of the series, and sums up the entirety of Season 8: Spectacle over substance. When reviewing other titles in the future, I must ensure that the visual grandeur of a film/series does not blind me to the blatant carelessness when it comes to the story, lest I provide a surface level review that doesn't cover all of the flaws.

An Emotional Ride
2 May 2019
Avengers: Endgame is possibly the best example of how to give fans the best possible payoff for staying with the series. While it does drag towards the beginning, it does so to develop our characters and make the later scenes more emotional and tense. Overall, while I may enjoy Infinity War a bit better, this was still an outstanding film that serves as one of the best out of all superhero movies.

This episode was incredible. It was brutal, unflinching, realistic, and incredibly satisfying. I am blown away with how beautiful this episode was and I don't exaggerate when I say that this is the best episode of GoT thus far.

Truly Great
17 August 2018
Christopher Robin is a truly great and heartwarming film about the importance of family and friends on one's life. Not only written incredibly well and acted perfectly, the film has a lot of realism to it, even with talking stuffed animals as part of the cast. Blending very real everyday hardships with fantasy gives the film a contrasting look at how bleak the world is when we don't realize what is truly important and tells us to remember our childhoods and try to be a better parent by being a kid with your kids. Overall, the film displays a heartfelt message with a cast of fun characters from an iconic series and does so very well and I suggest you go out and see this movie.
