This show is getting better and better!
7 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I watched the original PLL, I'm a day one fan of the series. Although it doesn't follow the storyline of the OG series, this is a PLL spinoff through and through. The use of A, mobile devices, girl group power, and even the theme song. I love it!

This episode gave us all the Halloween vibes, and I absolutely LOVED hearing Leo Moracchioli's version of Monster Mash playing when A is killing Tyler. Love seeing him get recognition he deserves! The music is kinda all over the place but in moments like that, top tier (also playing Living Dead Girl by Rob Zombie end of episode 1? YES PLEASE).

I binged all episodes in one day. And I cannot wait for the next one to be out!

How do people not get the point?
1 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'm seeing most of the low ratings for this movie are because it "didn't finish the plot" and "didn't answer questions".... When that was entirely the point.

The point was to show Emma's (Ashley Benson) daily life and how unexpecting most people are. The unanswered ending was to show how unaware Emma was and that makes it all the more terrifying.

We clearly don't find out who the stalker was because I'm sure he didn't know her in real life. He found her through the internet b/c he was that skilled in tech. The final scene made me extremely uncomfortable to the point where I couldn't sleep after. You feel so strongly for Emma in that moment, as he slowly comes into the camera view and you know it's the end for her (of course she's gonna die people, c'mon).

Overall it was by no means the best or most thrilling found footage, but it does not deserve the low rating.

Pretty good, but....

The mom (Jennifer Jason Leigh) almost makes the whole show unwatchable. Everyone else is great in their roles, even the people you aren't meant to like, except for her. Her facial expressions and the way she speaks makes me want to skip her scenes altogether. But you can't really watch the show without dealing with her. I know she's supposed to be overbearing and a crappy wife, but GOSH its sooo annoying to watch. The show would definitely have a higher rating if the mom was toned down and played by any other Actress available

Did I watch a different movie?
20 November 2020
This movie was mediocre at best. Don't believe the people giving it 8 or 9. The plot has been seen many times, it was super unrealistic, and the ending fell flat. They tried to market it as a horror/thriller but nothing about it is thrilling. It's a drama through and through. I will say though, the actors did amazing with what they were given. Sarah Paulson was her usual self, good, not award worthy. But Kiera Allen really stole the show. She made the movie (which dragged on for what seemed like 2 hours) watchable. If you enjoyed The Act or have nothing else to watch, give it a go.

Skin Wars: Disappearing Act (2016)
Season 3, Episode 5

I would have went off if I was Hans.
10 September 2020
I mean, all of his points were extremely valid. The competition is more about drama and who the judges personally like, rather than real technique and talent. Hans had beautiful work every single time, and he continued to get shot down by the judges because it wasn't head to toe glitz and glamor (because it shouldn't have to be). This show is just getting worse and worse and worse, I only continue to watch because body painting is so cool. It's not surprising AT ALL that this show got cancelled!!!

How does this have a 5.1????
4 March 2020
Warning: Spoilers
After the hour mark hit, I figured it was too late to turn off the film at that point. I thought maybe this last 19 minutes will be worth this wasted hour. However, I was dead wrong. The first 50 minutes of the movie are set up to make this documentary style film appear somewhat realistic. A couple who obviously have never filmed a documentary before attempt to learn more about the urban legend. They do this by filming 'historical' imagery, interviewing town folk, etc. finally they get out into the creek about an hour in. The next 15 minutes are the couple SITTING IN THEIR TENT, hearing noises but doing nothing about it. From here the movie turns into a ripoff of Blair Witch (as I'm sure you've read on other reviews). Really disappointed I spent any time on this film at all. It has 0 redeeming qualities.

Escape Room (I) (2019)

So much better than I thought it would be!
6 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Whenever a thriller is rated PG-13, I have doubts. However, the first minute of this film keeps you on the edge of your seat, where you stay unti the end. The intensity of the film caused my anxiety to go crazy! The plot also seemed like something that could have been a hit or miss. There have been many films similar to this one, but this one does a nice job of adding never before seen elements. I do have to say, once it got to the point with the final two characters (the drug sequence) it fell a little bit for me. I would still see the sequel though. Another thing that amazed me was the quality of the cinematography and editing. Visually captivating and disturbing. Lastly, I have to give credit to the cast. For not being very well known actors, they all managed to stay in character and portray the feelings of that chaotic experience. Definitely will be watching again!

Slasher (2016–2023)

I loved it!
3 January 2019
So of course this show isn't perfect. It has some plot holes, and there are some cringey written scenes throughout. But you have to remember that this is a show based on SLASHER stories. I don't know about you, but all of my favorite slasher films are campy, gory, and cheesy as hell. That's what makes them fun! In my opinion it can be hard to do an anthropology series right, but Slasher does a good job of making each season brand new. I love watching everything horrific, thrilling, and mind-bending (the kind of person to know the ending half way through) yet even I was shocked at the reveal of the killer for both seasons 1 and 2. I also have to add that I love seeing actors/actresses from one of my favorite OG teen shows ever, Degrassi: The Next Generation. So what if the acting isn't the most perfect, it's still fun to watch! I binged both seasons in 2-3 days. Definitely recommend.

Flanagan should have stuck with the original ending concept...
17 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review. After seeing mostly positive comments, the negative reviews make me feel the need to share my input as well. I have never connected to TV shows the way I have movies, especially when it comes to horror, often because I always find something lacking. However when The Haunting of Hill House came out, that all changed for me. Mike Flanagan created a believable story for me, with a perfect cast list to match. The chosen actors/actresses to play the young vs. old family was spot on in my opinion. They all did an excellent job of making their various emotions believable as well; fear, sadness, anger, grief, happiness. Amongst others. Another striking part of the show was the cinematography. Usually I am not a fan of switching back and forth between past and present. Yet the way Flanagan uses this as a way to connect puzzle pieces is amazing. For example, in episode 9 when young Nell and Luke ask Olivia about their "dreams", which you realize are actually detailed descriptions about their tragic lives in the future. I also love the way he goes back to the same scenes, but from different characters' points of view. I do have to admit that I agree the last few episodes were more drama Than horror based, but I personally think that was the best way to explain their story. One thing I wish would have changed is the ending of episode 10. Originally, Mike Flanagan was going to end the show with a closing shot of the happy family standing with the Red Room's window visible in the background. I feel this would have ended the show on more of that horror tone, and also would have been a good way to set up for season two. Overall, this is the best thing I have watched all year (excluding A Star Is Born), and the best horror project I have seen in years. Reallly hoping season 2 is coming! I have grown so attached to the story and Crain family.
