Monster Hunter (2020)
It's alright !
Ok so the fact it ended on a cliffhanger I was annoyed because I was actually kind of enjoying it so.....
But yeah the films ok overall it's not the best but I thought milla and tony were so badass !
The graphics were great and the plot was fun but I hated the continuous glitching moments and sound cut outs , they were really annoying!
But still milla is my heart and such a hero that I think her and Toby really made this film fairly enjoyable.
I thought the beginning was really entertaining but the rest of the movie wasn't as good but still it's ok it's fun.
Not sure a sequel is really worthy but I'd watch it!
[REC] 4: Apocalipsis (2014)
Not as good as the first but fairly entertaining!
So it's not the best of the rec films , but the setting and storyline really make this movie.
There's a lot going on and you'll definitely have had to watch the previous films to understand it, but hey this film if you watch it on a whim is pretty fun
The setting of the boat is claustrophobic but not quite as good of a setting as the original but it's very interesting as to what can happen.
The acting was pretty darn good and so was the cinematography.
The zombie makeup was better than the previous films I thought and I enjoyed seeing Angela return to be the zombie slayer that's he is!
The Taking (2014)
Didn't live up to the hype
It's was ok , the storyline was meh but the acting was very good.
It didn't live up to the hype for me but I can see why people like it.
Well acted and rather Creepy !
So it's not exactly the best horror film but it's very well acted and grounded well to one setting.
It wasn't scary but very creepy I would say, the ending was pretty damn disturbing.
It's worth a watch if you like found footage style films !
Ginger Snaps (2000)
What a blast !
This movie was so much fun and I really enjoyed it , I think it's what gave the inspiration to Jennifer's body in a way it has that same kind of vibe !
Definitely recommend to watch to audiences who want to watch a horror movie but not an ultimately scary one.
Costumes were great to, loved gingers vibe !
Girl on the Third Floor (2019)
Girl in the sale bin.
How does this movie have positive reviews on rotten tomatoes, how? Why?
This film tries to be like evil dead and rosemary's baby or something a standard it misses by leagues!
The acting is alright considering the films script is a shizzer fest , cm punk considering this is his acting debut in a feature film(kinda feel sorry for him that this is his first film) did quite well I thought as I genuinely hated his character he was such an a hole.
But I overall hated this movie, it's not bad but it extremely close to that level and I'm only giving it a 4 instead of a 3 because of the acting and somewhat creative visuals.
It's sucky suck fest and I hope it never gets positive attention again.
The Pyramid (2014)
Tries to be Rec (2007),the descent (2005)and as above so below (2014)
The pyramid is one of those movies that had stable source material and could've worked with a good director and script. But it ultimately fails to scare the audience with its claustrophobic setting which in this case didn't work well.
Not only was I not impacted by what should be a tight space to work in that should've made me feel trapped but I felt that the movie was constantly throwing random facts at me to convince me that the main characters were archaeologists when i don't really need as we already know the main characters are.
James Buckley was about the only character I cared for because he was genuinely quite funny in this movie and complained about every aspect which as a Brit myself is very true, brits complain about a lot of things especially this uninspiring movie.
I did however like the theme of this movie, it's about the only thing that works but only in terms of the beginning.
Overall I thought the movie was ok but i feel as through it wasn't made for its audience of 15+ and R in America it feels as though it was made for 12 year olds due to all the jump scares and cringey dialogue.
I don't think I'd ever watch it again because the plot is predictable throughout excluding the ending because the twist is ridiculous and yeah I found it "meh" meaning it should be in a sale bin and watched by potty training horror movie makers and audiences.
It's not a bad film but it's just very basic and could've been so much more.
Life in a Year (2020)
Melodramatic at times but overall a great film!
Cara delegvines performance truly makes this movie, her characters spunky attitude and vibrant wigs are used to cover up the true pain she is going through which is unleashed at the end of the film along with her incredible heart reaching performance.
Jaden smith is also rather good in this film and I truly believe his acting has greatly evolved.
My face looked like an exploded water balloon by the end of this film, it's unbearably beautiful.
Just watch it, if you don't feel anything I would question wether you have a heart.
Not as good as the first but still well done!
A raw and bloody second course to add to the rec series.
Much duller than the first but still full of flavour, I enjoyed seeing characters return and the correlations with the first movie.
The ending was deeply disturbing and I enjoyed seeing angelia return in a new light in all her gory glory!
Annabelle: Creation (2017)
Pointless jumps are slush.
Too many cheap and inefficient jump scares, weak and inconsistent plot and pointless zoom ins on Annabelle's stupid demon doll face.
Child actors were actually pretty decent, and I thought the ending cleverly opens the door for the sequel.
Still .... throw is a bit of jump scare garbage...a hint of the demon nun..... sprinkle the stupid Annabelle doll all over the place and whella you have yet another crappy conjuring spin-off film in the form of a sloppy bland slush puppy.
An always modern horror movie
Rec is absolutely horrifying.
I watch horror movies all the time.
I'm the type of girl that loves the conjuring movies but hates the spin-offs because there are so many cheap lazy jump scares in them.
Rec is one of the best horror films I have watched to this day and quite possibly for the rest of my life.
It may have a simple premise but it is so effective, and ever since watching the Nun from (2018 absolute horse 💩) I have since been immune to jump scares for the fact that there were so many in that film that I can now not only predict when they are going to happen but what they are going to be.
This films few jump scares are effective and terrifying to say the least, though they are simple they are effective.
Not to mention the theme of this movie is perfect for the time of 2020, stay home guys and watch Rec it won't disappoint.
[Rec]³: Génesis (2012)
Not as good but worth a watch!
By cleverly distinguishing the relationship of Koldo and Clara in clear detail the audience quickly comes to love the couple quite simply for the fact that they are a quirky but lovable unit together.
Once the mayhem begins and the film goes into full blown cinematic mode instead of the original found footage style, Koldo and Clara are split up, the audience is able to sympathise with this and want them to get back together as the both seem very concerned for one another.
This is the films driving meaning to watch on, will they make it together?
This film not only pushes the boundaries of the previous Rec films as it is a different style but it successfully makes us love the main characters for their strong relationship and kick ass take names later attitude.
That scene is the tunnel where Clara finds a chainsaw is pure artistry, at the beginning of the movie she seems so innocent and dainty until her relationship is threatened along with her unborn child which leads her to becoming such a freakin badass!
Koldo is also rather kick ass except his get up (costume) has a more laughable context to it which I didn't mind because it was like Paco Plaza was handing the majority of the power to the wife and mother to be Clara whom I thought was Super cool!
A job well done, was rather shocked at the mildly bad reviews! This film is overall fun, violent and a total change from the original.
If you only really like the found footage kind of thing and hate love stories then I'm sorry to say this isn't for you (maybe) but if you like the previous rec films and fancy a quirky and even more bloody change , then you just might like this!
A Star Is Born (2018)
What a star !
A star is born definitely deserved more oscars than it got.
Well acted, well directed and entirely just a brilliant and bold film.
I will admit I loved the correlation between Jonanne(between known as lady gaga) and Bradley Cooper. The indoor they provide for one another is what truly makes their relationship so magical, they help each other as well as pain one another.
Gaga is gold in this, considering she doesn't have a highly decorated chart in terms of her acting career she could transfer from music to cinema screen within a heartbeat (not that I would want her to her music is even better than this film!)
Both Bradley and Gaga truly made this film fantastic and I was rooting for them the whole way through.
I was dreading the ending though as I knew what was coming and that's the one thing I didn't like about this film.
It's sorrow it's joy and it's a pure pleasure to watch!
A fun, witty and well acted film !
Dummy is a film that I have wanted to watch for a little while now and let me tell you it didn't disappoint.
Brody is so quirky in this film, he truly portrays himself to be an outcast who's only friend is a ventriloquist dummy, he puts his faith in the hollow wooden doll for the smallest of things which is genuinely very sad to see.
He feels as if this doll which is really himself is the only thing he can trust as he can't seem to get away from his outlandish family.
Milla jovovitch who plays his friend "FANNY" or as she prefers to be called "FANGORA" is absolutely hilarious , she is just as awkward as Brody but a lot more in tune in terms of what she wants to do however she finds herself constantly relying on other people and blaming them for her own mistakes, relying on them just as her mother relies on her for her prescription.
Quite simply this film should be a classic yet it is so unheard of , how ?????
This is probably one of the best films from the early 2000's , the cast entirely are today now modern superstars and I truly believe that this film had it been more popular would have perpetuated them to stardom even sooner!
A gripping yet cautionary tale.
This Film has such a disturbing tone, a tone I have never felt nor heard in any other film.
We know something is off between our two main characters, yet we don't know what.
Jessica Buckley has already won a BAFTA, and I can promise you now she will most certainly have an Oscar in the next few years or at least will be nominated for one.
She is a serious talent !
Assassination Nation (2018)
This film is criminally underrated!
This film is not only foreshadowing the possible future but it is also predicting why things like this happen.
People make mistakes and go to hell for it, not only is this film a totally original idea but it is also just plain out badass !
The only reason many critics didn't like it is because of the idea of girls drawing guns to defend their private information.
I can understand why some people don't like this film as it is a very controversial subject but I absolutely love it and will soooo be adding it to my top 10 !
The Mummy (2017)
Not bad, more of a comedy movie than a horror
This movie tries to be a horror but with the Somewhat quirky characters and overemphasised evil, it's actually rather funny.
The performances are pretty good and the cgi is very impressive, worth a rent but not a buy.
So bad it's good !
Alright this film is pretty bad but it's actually rather entertaining! I'll admit I actually cheered when Beyoncé went for Ali Larter , I genuinely felt for some of the characters and I genuinely thought the performances were good !
You'd think there's an explanation as to why Ali Larters character (Lisa) is doing all of this apart from the titles roleAs well as being a totally evil crazy b, but there isn't and that's ok because it's works anyway !
It's a fun watch, one you can have a laugh with as well as being entertained by the impressive performances. And none of these actors have aged, literally they look the same today!
Wish Upon (2017)
Sure it has quite a few cringe worthy scenes and the script isn't that great but you know what , it's very enjoyable! Joey kings performance in this tops everything And is the beat thing about the film !
My childhood 🤣!
This films is literally my childhood and I loved rewatching it , such a good plot and great fun !
When I was kid I lost the 3D glasses though .
Actually pretty good !
Thought this movie was alright in my opinion, the plot is very well coordinated and despite the films obviously low budget it does well with what it's has! I would love to see this film as a bigger more money invested in project it could really develop into something more.
Ending was a shocker by the way !
The Invisible Man (2020)
An outstanding take on the classic tale!
This film not only stands up to a problem (domestic abuse) that is present today for many women but takes a Brilliant bold twist on a classic tale.
The invisible man is a triumph in the horror genre with twist and turns in every corner and packed full of great scares !
If this film doesn't prove Elizabeth Moss needs an Oscar for her tremendous performance then I don't know what does !
Berlin Syndrome (2017)
A thrilling female driven film !
This film is a deeply entertaining thriller/drama movie, Theresa Palmer is mesmerising in every scene along with Max Riemelt who had a very hard part to play (and I'm sure he hated being such a creep!)
The film is very entertaining and packed full of moments that will leave you squirming for main the character Clare to escape.
I would give it an eight but I didn't see the harsh call of justice I so desperately wanted land down upon the villain.
Still a highly watchable film though 7/10
Not as bad as everyone is making it out to be.
Capone is quite a good drama/crime film detailing the last years of life Al Capone had left in good detail and with strong acting.
The script isn't great but is sustainable throughout, this film I feels needed more direction in terms of what it is trying to explain at times but overall it is a well done movie.
Tom Hardy makes it interesting enough as a bold and brilliant actor to keep people entertained as well as some of the other cast.
However I feel that the film started quite strongly but towards to middle became rather weak but the ending is very clear and sudden unlike the rest of the film.
Last Shift (2014)
A low budget horror film that is a blast !
This film is very entertaining considering it's unique plot line and low budget !
The main character officer Jessica Loren is brilliantly portrayed by Juliana Harkavy (who I believe won an award for her performance in 2016) she never breaks character and is continuously impressive in the main characters role!
The film centres mostly around the case of mason family wannabes haunting Jessica because of her past of her father being a cop and unfortunately being killed by them, this allows the watcher to delve more so into the theme of mental health and how she is effected by her past unable deter what's in her head and what's reality.
This easily puts us on Jessica's side and makes the ending shocking !
