Outrageous, offensive, tasteless... and totally freakin' sweet!

Absolutely nothing is sacred for a laugh in this animated satire of hopeless oaf Peter Griffin, his family and wacky neighbors in the city if Quahog, Massachusetts. The set-up of characters ostensibly resembles "The Simpsons", but it's more than a rip-off since it goes to such lenghts that almost only "South Park does to succeed. Creator and incredibly voice-talented McFarlane brings us everything from the bad-taste meny: feces- & gas-gags, sex romps, racial & sexist connotations... but also tons of pop-cultural and historical references (like a great Gary Larson cartoon!) songs, puns, drawn-out jokes and sudden weird, inexplicable appearances (such as the fighting chicken and the piano playing 1920's entertainers!).

Favorite characters: Brian the intellectual/alcoholic Dog, Stewie the genius/megalomaniac baby, psychotic Mayor Adam West (voiced by the same!), sex-maniac neighbor Quagmire and Herbert the senior citizen pederast! Also, that title song is classic by now, and SO catchy!

The only thing that does tire me, is the constant bullying of the daughter, Meg. If she was a non-likeable character, I would understand, but she isn't!

Sweden's "Twin Peaks" scores on its own merits! One of those gems in the myriad world of miniseries that I wish could make it internationally. It's the tale of a small northern town in Sweden where a mysterious, almost supernatural visit from an alledged church painter opens a Pandoras' box of secrets: An estranged priest, unhappy marriages, adultery, ghostly voices and paralyzed sons... Great script and performances, drenched in hypnotic, flamboyant camerawork. The finale is unfortunately somewhat of letdown, in my eyes, where the auidence is left without enough promised answers... 8 out of 10 from Ozjeppe

A 4-part mini-series follow the fates of three separate families in Sweden between 1970 and today, and tackles everything from inadequate parenthood, homosexuality, alcoholism, neo-nazism and religious bigotry...

Scriptwriter Jonas Gardell's trademark topic themes are treated vibrantly moody and emotionally charged, told in a highly paced time-overlapping narration technique that keeps the uncertainty hovering and the cliffhanger addiction flowing between the episodes.

Not terribly original content-wise and with an occasionally somewhat unnecessarily solemn tone... but when handled as strongly (and as wonderfully acted, mainly by its youngster cast) as this by director Kaijser, I don't really mind the repetition at all! Excellent production values, too, although some uneven make-up qualities catch the eye...

Broad, lavishly produced Swedish skit-comedy series might look he-haw/low-brow at first glance, but hang on! Manages to mix slapstick, biting sarcasm & varieté-style musical numbers all in one, and does so magnificently, thanks to fine writing (spoofing many entertainment genres and poking fun at different Swedish colloquial humor content plus the TV industry itself) and equally comic acting by its large but tight ensemble.

Its machine gun-pace, enthusiastic energy and laugh-out-loud comic material makes this a definite must for repeated viewings! Among many gems: "Skärgården", "Hemliga dokument", "Jan Bananberg"; "Studentfesten", "Bestefar & me", and no to mention The whole American Southern courtroom drama episode... classics-to-be for sure!
