I don't necessarily care if a story's purpose is to cater to a certain audience, I don't care if certain people see this episode as being "too political" and I don't care if it's seen as pandering, this is one of the most moving pieces of art that I've ever seen.

Director: Rian Johnson | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 41,798

For a show that gets a bit too much praise in my opinion, people really don't seem to care for my personal favorite episode. There are many reasons why I like it, one reason being it is a very well done bottle episode which I always love no matter the show, but the main reason I love it is because it encapsulates my favorite aspect of the show, that being real surrealism. A man suffering from lung caner chooses to go into the drug scene to make money before he dies, A druggie and a chemistry teacher make a battery for their RV after being stuck in the dessert for 4 days because one of them left the keys in the starter, Jesse makes the mistake of telling an insane hyper druggy that the poisoned meth that they made to kill him has chili pepper in it which he doesn't like so he doesn't sniff it. Moments like these are where the show shines and this episode follows suite wonderfully, the humor is amazingly juxtaposed with the dread that Walter feels about Jane, his family, his life and the feeling that if he makes one more mistake in Gus's lab then his life is over and his mission is a failure. Jesse being suspicious and bewildered by Walters actions but slowly being brought on board as he gets more and more into catching the fly than the drugged, almost unconscious Walter. It is ridiculous and hilarious but also tragic that Walter's fear, his fly; the bug that he can never be rid of will be with him forever, even after it is seemingly killed.
