Bojack is framed for a murder. Meanwhile, Todd and Mr. Peanutbutter are sprayed by a skunk.

Director: Amy Winfrey | Stars: Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins

Votes: 3,986

Just a weak script that doesn't feel like it fits and could be cut out with nothing being missing. The PC, Todd and Mr. Penutbutter's subplot was bearable but Bojack and Diane's story feels like it leads to nothing by the end.

2. BoJack Horseman (2014–2020)
Episode: BoJack Horseman: The BoJack Horseman Story, Chapter One (2014)

TV-MA | 25 min | Animation, Comedy, Drama

A publishing house eagerly awaits BoJack's memoirs, but he hasn't even started yet. His agent/ex and his publisher try to talk him into working with a ghost writer, but BoJack's too despondent about being washed up to focus.

Director: Joel Moser | Stars: Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins

Votes: 6,574

This episode has a problem with telling us about the characters instead of showing us, it's a very basic way of introducing the characters that never gets to this extend again and is an outlier for poor storytelling in this show. At this point Raphael's plan was to mislead the audience into believing that this was your run of the mil family guy knock off and pulling back the curtain in both episode 8 and episode 11. Bojack hates the troops is a much better episode due to it having some fun slices of social commentary elements which represent the show better than this episode.

3. BoJack Horseman (2014–2020)
Episode: Live Fast, Diane Nguyen (2014)

TV-MA | 25 min | Animation, Comedy, Drama

A business trip for BoJack and Diane takes a detour; Todd runs a scam that gets him in trouble.

Director: Joel Moser | Stars: Will Arnett, Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins

Votes: 4,944

Just a kind of meh episode that doesn't leave an impact.

4. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005– )
Episode: Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life (2008)

TV-MA | 24 min | Comedy

Director: Fred Savage | Stars: Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson

Votes: 3,027

I can never really make it all the way through this episode, none of the jokes really land for me.

5. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005– )
Episode: Mac and Dennis Break Up (2009)

TV-MA | 22 min | Comedy

Taking Dee's advice seriously, Mac and Dennis decide that they're too co-dependent on each other and need to spend time apart. Meanwhile Charlie and Frank help Dee out with a major cat problem in her apartment.

Director: Fred Savage | Stars: Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson

Votes: 2,919

The plot of two best friends falling out and treating it like a break up is a common sitcom trope but they don't really do much with the concept. The episode also changes Dennis' character to be entirely reliant on Mac to function, which isn't consistent with his character.

6. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (2005– )
Episode: The Gang Spies Like U.S. (2015)

TV-MA | 24 min | Comedy

When Dennis and Mac send Dee to spy on the fish factory across the street, Frank and Charlie become suspicious themselves.

Director: Matt Shakman | Stars: Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson

Votes: 2,544

The cream pie gag is an overdone joke, sorry not sorry.

7. Avatar: The Last Airbender (2005–2008)
Episode: The Great Divide (2005)

TV-Y7 | 25 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

Aang is tested as the Avatar when he must help two feuding clans cross a dangerous canyon peacefully.

Director: Giancarlo Volpe | Stars: Zach Tyler Eisen, Mae Whitman, Jack De Sena, Dee Bradley Baker

Votes: 5,611

"Eh, let's keep flying."

8. Cowboy Bebop (1998–1999)
Episode: Boogie Woogie Feng Shui (1999)

TV-14 | 25 min | Animation, Action, Adventure

Jet gets a mysterious note from an old friend, Pao, and finds himself teaming up with his daughter, who uses Feng Shui to decipher it. The two are also chased by syndicate mobsters also searching for him.

Directors: Ikurô Satô, Shin'ichirô Watanabe, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn | Stars: Steve Blum, Kôichi Yamadera, Beau Billingslea, Unshô Ishizuka

Votes: 2,529

The character dynamics of the crew are great when on display and the voice over from Jet is a brilliant concept that continues the style of his previous episodes and arcs, the 1st being a melancholy romantic tragedy in Ganymede Elegy, the second being a classic Noire with twists and turns in Black Dog Serenade and now a detective tale where the cop has to help out the innocent dame. Unfortunately that's where the positives end, the episode itself is focused on an uninteresting character and a mystery with a dull and nonsensical motivation for the Farther character.

9. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: Negro y Azul (2009)

TV-14 | 47 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Rumor is spreading that Jesse killed the man that ripped Skinny Pete off. Walt uses this to his advantage on expanding their territory. Meanwhile, Hank has been promoted to the El Paso office. But it's not all he hoped it would be.

Director: Félix Enríquez Alcalá | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 25,368

Aside from Hank's PTSD moment this episode is entirely forgettable.

10. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: ABQ (2009)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Walt's lies have pushed Skyler to her limit. She leaves with the kids. Meanwhile, Jesse blames himself for Jane's death and goes into rehab.

Director: Adam Bernstein | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 28,280

Way to stick the landing.

Director: Tristram Shapeero | Stars: Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown

Votes: 4,076

All in all, I didn't mind season 4. Sure, the absence of Dan Harmon effected the speed of the jokes and the consistency of the characters but the writers still tried to capture the creativity of the previous seasons. Whether they were successful with their approach or not, I still think it's commendable that they tried to keep the point of the show intact. However, I will say that this episode will a complete dud for me. Dan Harmon's story structure has been broken down by a multitude of people and while not every episode has to adhere to a certain formula, having a sense of real progression in an episode is important. By the end of it, it feels like nothing has happened. The puppet story line is so far from reality that it's hard to be invested to any extent and the out of nowhere song numbers are an attempt to be random which do not succeed. An example of musical segments working in Community is the episode Abed's Uncontrollable Christmas. The reason why the gang is singing in that episode is to go along with Abed's delusion and some of the character's, like Annie and Abed, feel more at home with singing while Jeff and Britta don't. This type of character consistency isn't on display in Intro to Felt Surrogacy, it feels like the character's are being pulled along by the writer and are doing things that they normally wouldn't. At the end of the day, it's the worst episode of Community but at least they attempted something different. Even if it didn't pan out.
