PG-13 | 166 min | Action, Adventure, Drama

79 Metascore

Paul Atreides unites with Chani and the Fremen while seeking revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family.

Director: Denis Villeneuve | Stars: Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem

Votes: 385,991

Dune: Part One lived up to my expectations in every conceivable way but despite that I was never completely hopeful that we’d see any sort of continuation so the fact that we’re even getting this movie feels like such a miracle to me. I could not be more excited to see Denis Villeneuve continue this story and I truly believe that It’ll be up to the standard he set with that first film. Considering how much I adored that film I can’t imagine anything less than another masterpiece.

2. Nosferatu (2024)

Fantasy, Horror, Mystery | Post-production

A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, causing untold horror in its wake.

Director: Robert Eggers | Stars: Emma Corrin, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bill Skarsgård, Willem Dafoe

Up till now I’ve liked every Robert Eggers movie more than the last and his style fused with this story seems like a perfect storm. Outside of Eggers usual sensibilities, I don’t really know what to expect from this film and that makes me all the more excited. There’s very few directors working today with this unique of a style and I’m totally on board with anything and everything that he wants to make.

3. Mickey 17 (2025)

139 min | Adventure, Drama, Sci-Fi | Post-production

To stop his substitute clone Mickey8 from supplanting him, Mickey7, an expendable robot, is dispatched to an icy planet to settle it.

Director: Bong Joon Ho | Stars: Robert Pattinson, Mark Ruffalo, Toni Collette, Naomi Ackie

It’s hardly an unpopular opinion to say that I loved Parasite and I’ve been so excited to see what Bong Joon-ho does next but I’d be excited for a movie based on this interesting a premise anyway. I loved seeing big budget Sci Fi in theatres and every look we’ve gotten of this movie intrigues me more and more. This has to be one of the best casts of this coming year and with this calibre of director I’m fully expecting something wholly unique.

4. The Bikeriders (2023)

R | 116 min | Crime, Drama

73 Metascore

After a chance encounter, headstrong Kathy is drawn to Benny, member of Midwestern motorcycle club the Vandals. As the club transforms into a dangerous underworld of violence, Benny must choose between Kathy and his loyalty to the club.

Director: Jeff Nichols | Stars: Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon

Votes: 1,228

I can’t remember the last time a trailer ticked every single box I need to be excited for a movie. This type of crime thriller just seems tailor made to my tastes and the delay has just made me more desperate to see it and I cannot wait to see this cast in this setting. I’ve been meaning to watch more of Jeff Nichols and this really seems like the one that’s gonna turn me onto him fully.

5. A Quiet Place: Day One (2024)

Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi | Post-production

Experience the day the world went quiet.

Director: Michael Sarnoski | Stars: Djimon Hounsou, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, Lupita Nyong'o

After the second film improved on the first in almost every conceivable way for me, I’ve been really excited to see another movie from this world and I actually think it really lends itself to standalone installments. The big question with the first two movies is how this event started and I’m so excited to see them finally explore it. Quiet Place is probably one of the better franchises around right now and I just really wanna see it continue to thrive by doing things like this.

6. Blitz (III)

PG-13 | Drama, History, War | Completed

Follow the stories of a group of Londoners during the events of the British capital bombing in World War II.

Director: Steve McQueen | Stars: Saoirse Ronan, Harris Dickinson, Stephen Graham, Erin Kellyman

Steve McQueen is great for taking difficult subject matters and presenting them in a captivating and totally effective way so I think this time period seems like the perfect one for him to explore. I don’t think there’s been enough movies about the Blitz so I’m so excited to see it depicted through his eyes however he chooses to present it.

7. Gladiator 2 (2024)

Action, Adventure, Drama | Post-production

Follows Lucius, the son of Maximus's love Lucilla, after Maximus's death.

Director: Ridley Scott | Stars: Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Connie Nielsen, Paul Mescal

While I’m totally sure this movie needs to happen, I just have to be excited for the sequel to one of my all time favourite movies. The worst thing they could’ve done is resurrect Russell Crowe’s character and since they’re not doing that, there’s nothing this movie can do to take away from the original. I love seeing big budget historical epics so I’ll at least be excited to see it through that lens. Ridley Scott may be extremely hit and miss but when he hits he undeniably hits.

8. Joker: Folie à Deux (2024)

R | Crime, Drama, Musical | Completed

Sequel to the film "Joker" from 2019.

Director: Todd Phillips | Stars: Zazie Beetz, Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Catherine Keener

I can’t deny that really I loved the idea of Joker as a stand-alone story but I also can’t deny this is an intriguing pitch. If nothing else it’ll be an interesting sequel that doesn’t seem like a retread of the original at all. Every Joaquin Phoenix performance is basically an event at this point and I think Lady Gaga is perfect casting for Harley Quinn. Whether it’s good or bad there’ll certainly be a lot to talk about with it.

9. The Fall Guy (2024)

PG-13 | 126 min | Action, Comedy, Drama

73 Metascore

A down-and-out stuntman must find the missing star of his ex-girlfriend's blockbuster film.

Director: David Leitch | Stars: Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Hannah Waddingham

Votes: 16,395

I’ve really come to like the kinds of movies David Leitch is spearheading right now. The scripts haven’t always been amazing but he’s produced so many entertaining movies with amazingly filmed action made on a reasonable budget and this looks no different. I’ll watch anything with Ryan Gosling in it and he and Emily Blunt seem like a match made in heaven.

10. Paddington in Peru (2024)

Adventure, Comedy, Family | Post-production

Follows Paddington and the Brown family as they visit Aunt Lucy in Peru, but a mystery sends them to the Amazon rainforest and up Peruvian mountains.

Director: Dougal Wilson | Stars: Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, Emily Mortimer, Ben Whishaw

There’s definitely a part of me that has serious worries this can live up to the standard of the first 2 films. But given the fact that both those movie are so much more fantastic than they have any right to be I’m gonna choose to be optimistic. The Paddington films are some of the best family films ever made and if this one follows suit we’ll have one of the best family trilogies period.

11. The Instigators (2024)

R | Action, Comedy, Crime | Completed
