1. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: Cancer Man (2008)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Walt tells the rest of his family about his cancer. Jesse tries to make amends with his own parents.

Director: Jim McKay | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 29,455

#7 - S1 E4: Cancer Man (B Tier) The weakest episode of the first season and one of the weaker episodes of the entire series. But, while it's not underrated, it serves its purpose and I don't feel enough people appreciate the character-building it has for Jesse. 7/10

2. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal (2008)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Walt and Jesse try to up their game by making more of the crystal every week for Tuco. Unfortunately, some of the ingredients they need are not easy to find. Meanwhile, Skyler realizes that her sister is a shoplifter.

Director: Tim Hunter | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 29,590

#6 - S1 E7: A No-Rough-Stuff-Type Deal (B Tier) Because of the writer's strike, this is an infamous finale that most people feel is improper. The majority of this episode is Walter and Jesse getting into shenanigans I don't care much about. But for the ending itself, I always found it quite intriguing and think it's a solid way to conclude the season, even if abrupt, which I know will be a warm take. Nonetheless, this is the weakest finale in the series. 7/10

3. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: Gray Matter (2008)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Walt rejects everyone who tries to help him with the cancer. Jesse tries his best to create Walt's meth, with the help of an old friend.

Director: Tricia Brock | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 28,964

#5 - S1 E5: Gray Matter (A Tier) A highly underrated episode this season that I had in B tier for a while before I bumped it up to a respectable low A. We really dive into Walter's psyche here, as well as his past with, you guessed it, Gray Matter. There's a lot that can be analyzed. Aside from that, Walt's talking pillow monologue is a personal favorite of mine and is a definite highlight of the season that doesn't get enough attention. 8/10

4. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: Cat's in the Bag... (2008)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

After their first drug deal goes terribly wrong, Walt and Jesse are forced to deal with a corpse and a prisoner. Meanwhile, Skyler grows suspicious of Walt's activities.

Director: Adam Bernstein | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 31,604

#4 - S1 E2: Cat's in the Bag... (A Tier) This is a good example of Breaking Bad's humble beginnings with a fun episode of Walt and Jesse getting put in a sticky situation. Back when Breaking Bad could sort of be considered a dark comedy, this makes for a great rewatch. 8/10

5. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: Pilot (2008)

TV-MA | 58 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Diagnosed with terminal lung cancer, chemistry teacher Walter White teams up with former student Jesse Pinkman to cook and sell crystal meth.

Director: Vince Gilligan | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 43,221

#3 - S1 E1: Pilot (A Tier) The teaser is iconic and speaks for itself as to why. The rest of this package does an amazing job of establishing the unique premise and the story's characters, especially Walt's. Simply one of, if not the best, pilots of all television, even if it's still figuring things out. 8.5/10

6. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: Crazy Handful of Nothin' (2008)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

With the side effects and cost of his treatment mounting, Walt demands that Jesse finds a wholesaler to buy their drugs - which lands him in trouble.

Director: Bronwen Hughes | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 34,191

#2 - S1 E6: Crazy Handful of Nothin' (S Tier) The episode that first hooked the majority of fans. We get to see the first "Heisenberg" episode, which might contain the most iconic scene of the season. And it's straight up badass seeing Walt taking his own advice and growing a pair of balls when he goes toe to toe with the scene-stealing Tuco. Definitely an epic episode with a handful of great, stand-out moments. 9/10

7. Breaking Bad (2008–2013)
Episode: ...And the Bag's in the River (2008)

TV-14 | 48 min | Crime, Drama, Thriller

Walt and Jesse clean up after the bathtub incident before Walt decides what course of action to take with their prisoner Krazy-8.

Director: Adam Bernstein | Stars: Bryan Cranston, Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Dean Norris

Votes: 30,616

#1 - S1 E3: ...And the Bag's in the River (S Tier) For me, I was already hooked by the third episode. It's all too real as Walt desperately wants any justification to spare Krazy-8. But our dear friend Domingo still has to get murked anyway after just being humanized to us and Walt. We're really put into their shoes here. When I first started watching the show, I had the wrong idea that this for the most part would be all fun and games, and here, these assumptions were disproven. Truly a great piece of television and a favorite of mine. 9/10
