Exclusive: Taylor John Smith (Where The Crawdads Sing) is attached to star in What’s Left of Us, based on the 2009 memoir by Ritchie Farrell who has adapted for screen.
The project marks the next directing effort of The Fighter and Patriot’s Day scribe Paul Tamasy who most recently made his directorial debut on Paramount acquisition Depravity, also starring Smith.
What’s Left of Us charts the tough upbringing of Farrell in a working class neighbourhood in Massachusetts. To overcome a birth defect, his father pushed him to become a star athlete – sometimes he would use a belt as a teaching tool. Once, he used an electric carving knife. By the time he was 30, he was a heroin addict, stealing from friends, shooting up during visits to his children and running from shameful family secrets.

Tim played Tim Taylor on the ABC show from 1991 to 1999, with Patricia Richardson co-starring as his wife, Jill Taylor.

Is the world ready for the return of Tim ‘The Tool Man’ Taylor? Home Improvement was one of the biggest sitcoms of the ’90s and helped launch Tim Allen to stardom, and like many classic sitcoms these days, it could be due for a spinoff or revival.

Zachery Ty Bryan appeared in an Oregon court Wednesday afternoon to face charges stemming from a July arrest, which marked the latest in a string of legal issues for the troubled former child star best known for Home Improvement.
During today’s proceedings, Bryan, 42, pled guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence. As part of a negotiated resolution, a second count was dismissed and, rather than spend 19 to 20 months in Oregon Department of Corrections, Bryan will receive a “downward dispositional departure” to 36 months of supervised probation, seven days in jail and he must abide by a set of conditions typical of domestic violence cases.
Those conditions call for no contact with the victim without the probation officer’s approval, alcohol and substance abuse treatment, and no alcohol and drug use moving forward. Should he violate any of the above conditions, Bryan would be subject to serving...

Actor Devon Sawa’s career has run the gamut from teen idol to leading man. However, he realized that playing the president of the United States on the SyFy series Chucky is infinitely easier than navigating the perils of teen superstardom. Here’s why Sawa stepped away from acting after being a teen idol and why it was one of the best decisions he ever made.
Being a teen idol ‘never felt normal’ says ‘Chucky’ star Devon Sawa
Teen idols are a unique set of celebrities. They are generally between the ages of 15 and 25 and dominate magazines, which is the mindset of young fans.
Pre-internet, being a teen idol, was even more dramatic than it is today. Appearances in leading publications geared to young people, coupled with a hit song and a steady gig in movies and television, comprised most of these celebrities.

Zachery Ty Bryan is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Police arrested the former Home Improvement actor in Eugene, Ore. on Friday, July 28, following an altercation with an unnamed woman, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly.
The one-time sitcom star, 41, reportedly assaulted a woman, whose name was not released. When police arrived at the residence, Bryan was no longer there. He was later tracked down and booked on charges of felony assault.
The incident comes nearly three years after Bryan’s arrest in October 2020, also following a domestic violence incident. In that case, he was accused of assaulting his 27-year-old girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and taking her phone away when she attempted to call 911. He was booked on a felony charge of strangulation and misdemeanor charges of assault in the fourth degree and interfering with making a report, Us Weekly reported at the time.

The Lion King is easily one of the most successful projects Elton John has been involved with. Not only is it considered one of Disney’s best soundtracks, but it also earned John his first Academy Award. It was a departure from John’s standard material since he had never written music for the stage or screen at that time in his career. It was also a shift for him, and one song from the Disney film made him question what he was doing.
‘Hakuna Matata’ from ‘The Lion King’ made Elton John question his career
Disney had a ton of success in the early 1990s with hit movies such as Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. In 1994, the studio would release The Lion King, an animated musical that was their most successful film for a long time. Part of The Lion King’s success was due to its remarkable soundtrack,...

Zachery Ty Bryan struggled to find acting work after starring as eldest son Brad Taylor in all eight seasons of Home Improvement. He opened up about the struggles, and the hard comedown from teen fame, in a new interview that details his child-star past and his present life, which is riddled with legal issues tied to domestic violence charges, DUIs, and an apparent cryptocurrency scheme. Home Improvement starred Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson as Tim “The Tool Man” and Jill Taylor, parents to sons Brad (Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Bryan said it was “was actually really difficult” to land more acting jobs after the Home Improvement series finale in 1999, despite the success of the ABC show. “If you star in a TV show today, you can be in any film that you want, but back then, it was the polar opposite,” Bryan told The Hollywood Reporter.

Every episode of ABC’s blockbuster 1990s sitcom Home Improvement ended with a life lesson. For eight seasons and 203 episodes, Americans tuned in weekly by the tens of millions to watch Tim “The Tool Man” Taylor, wife Jill and their three sons wrestle with dilemmas typical of middle-class American households, only to discover solutions and restore peace in a tight 22 minutes.
“What a Drag,” a season seven entry that aired Feb. 24, 1998, focused a lens on eldest son Brad, played by Zachery Ty Bryan, as it’s discovered he stashed marijuana in the family’s backyard gazebo. When confronted, Brad lies and deflects but eventually comes clean to his parents, played by Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson, and younger brother Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), who says in melodramatic fashion, “I’m just trying to figure out what’s going on with you.”
The episode culminates with a heart-to-heart on the living room sofa.

The Movie: "I'll Be Home For Christmas"
Where You Can Stream It: Disney+
The Pitch: This year, when you think of live-action Disney movies involving Santa Claus, you're more likely to bring up Tim Allen's "The Santa Clause" thanks to the brand new Disney+ sequel series, "The Santa Clauses" (which will apparently be returning for a second season). However, the comedian isn't the only "Home Improvement" cast member to branch out into holiday movies. During the popular sitcom's final season in 1998, Jonathan Taylor Thomas starred in "I'll Be Home For Christmas."
Due to his father remarrying less than a year after his mother passed away, hot shot boarding school student Jake (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) has grown estranged from his family back in New York.

What is it about Pinocchio? It’d merely be a funny coincidence if Guillermo del Toro’s dark new take on this classic tale were only the second adaptation in recent memory, after Robert Zemeckis’s Disney version from earlier this year, which starred Tom Hanks as Geppetto. But both were beaten to the punch by Pauly Shore’s that went viral back in March. And that version was relatively fast on the heels of a live-action version from a few years ago directed by Matteo Garrone, an Italian director most famous for his slim,...

In a year full of Pinocchio adaptations, 1996’s Pinocchio’s Revenge stands the test of time as a dark, disturbing update to the living wooden boy narrative.
“I wish you were a real boy. Then I wouldn’t be all alone.”
Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio was first published in 1883 and for more than a century it’s proven to be an evergreen text that’s fascinated so many diverse storytellers and filmmakers. It’s Timothée Chalamet Day in Venice.
This isn’t a national holiday, but perhaps it should be. It’s just past 1:30 p.m. outside the Venice Film Festival’s Sala Casino, and a crowd of youth have set aside work and school commitments to travel into the Lido to catch a glimpse of the American superstar arriving for a press conference.
Every generation has their movie star heartthrob — from Jonathan Taylor Thomas to Brad Pitt in the ’90s and Robert Pattison at the dawn of the Twilight movies. For many young women, Chalamet represents the pinnacle of Gen Z cool. The Chalamet stans arrived as early as 7 a.m. on Friday to catch a glance of Timothée. They are, not surprisingly, mostly female. They describe their favorite performances as “Call Me By Your Name” and “The King” but are mostly drawn to Chalamet because of his talent, and kind and friendly nature.

There’s no spell necessary to adore Dakota Johnson’s filmography.
The “50 Shades of Grey” alum is currently on the awards circuit for her scene-stealing turn opposite Olivia Colman in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s “The Lost Daughter,” and Johnson’s two films at the 2022 Sundance Festival — “Cha Cha Real Smooth” and “Am I Ok?” — both landed at major streaming services.
But some may argue that it was 2018’s “Suspiria” remake that truly first showcased Johnson’s haunting range. Luca Guadagnino revisited Dario Argento’s classic 1977 horror film by adding a new context of the German Autumn to create a larger-scale production, according to screenwriter David Kajganich.
“I went into just hard research about the history of witchcraft,” Kajganich told IndieWire. “[I was] just trying to figure out as practically as possible what a real coven in Berlin in 1977 might look like, and how it might behave, and what their rituals might involve.

Zachery Ty Bryan and Jonathan Taylor Thomas side-by-side? Thanks to a throwback pic, Home Improvement fans have suddenly found themselves right back in the '90s. #ThrowbackTuesday got a whole lot sweeter once Zachery, 39, took to Instagram on Sept. 21 to share a photo of himself alongside his comedic former co-star, Jonathan, 40. The actor jokingly captioned the pic of the two wearing matching outfits, "The 2nd best looking guy in a photo of 2…" Naturally, the adorable pic prompted to fans to wonder aloud whether the two have reunited over the years after their hit show—which also featured actors Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson as their TV mom and dad and...

Robin French, a talent agent who worked with legends including Marlon Brando and Elizabeth Taylor and later headed production at Paramount Pictures in the late 1970s, has died. His family said he had been in declining health for the past few months and died September 6 in Palm Desert, CA.
“Dad left knowing that we love him so much, and that we are all safe and secure thanks in large part to his fierce devotion to us,” his children said in a statement. “He was so smart, funny, loyal, friendly, grumpy, opinionated and just a one-of-a-kind guy. We will all miss him forever, but feel so lucky that he was our Dad.”
French began his career as an agent at Chartwell, working with his father, Hugh French — a former actor who become an agent whose clients in the 1950s and ’60s included Brando, Taylor and Richard Burton — and Jerry Perenchio.

It's apparently the summer of pop culture nostalgia: Last month, we got a rare sighting of '90s teen icon Jonathan Taylor Thomas. Now, we have Ashley Olsen, also spotted in the wild. Literally. The 35-year-old notoriously private Full House alum, fashion designer and one half of the Olsen twins was recently photographed hiking in the woods with a machete. Bet you didn't have that on your 2021 bingo card. Ashley's boyfriend, Louis Eisner, posted the photo on his Instagram Story Friday, July 9. She wore a white sweatshirt over a black top, white linen pants, a button-up white shirt tied around her waist, black Yeezy sneakers, a matching baseball cap worn backwards...

Breaking news: Jonathan Taylor Thomas doesn't look "unrecognizable." He just grew up. We know, we know, this may come as a shock to some, but teen idols are not, in fact, preserved in amber like that insect in Jurassic Park, and our latest example of this phenomenon is the reemergence of Jonathan Taylor Thomas a.k.a. J.T.T. (though true fans know his real last name is Weiss). The 39-year-old former child star was recently photographed out in the wild like us regular humans for the first time since 2013, though he last appeared onscreen in Last Man Standing in 2015. On June 20, Jonathan and his two small white dogs were spotted in Los Angeles on a casual...

He's our childhood crush, all grown up! It's been eight long years, but Jonathan Taylor Thomas has finally resurfaced. The 39-year-old former child star was recently spotted publicly for the first time since 2013, though he last appeared onscreen in Last Man Standing in 2015. On Sunday, June 20, Jonathan and his two small white dogs were photographed in Los Angeles on a casual walk. He wore Nike sneakers, loose jeans and a zipped up dark hoodie, along with sunglasses, a New York Mets baseball cap and a black mask that was worn around his chin. An eyewitness described him as "relaxed looking" while he smoked a vape on the street. The last...

It’s not too often with these ‘whatever happened’ articles that I actually get to say that the star in question is retired, especially when they’re still relatively young like Jonathan Taylor Thomas. The guy is only 39 years old at this time and has reportedly been retired as an actor since 2016 when he appeared on Last Man Standing. One could say that he had a fairly successful career, but they might have to go ahead and mention that a lot of it was spent acting in shows and movies that a lot of people barely remember, though there are

Exclusive: Sony Pictures Television has acquired the rights to David Henry Sterry’s memoir Master of Ceremonies: A True Story of Love, Murder, Roller Skates & Chippendales, to develop as a series. Emmy-nominated Gordon Smith is set to pen the series adaptation and showrun the project for Spt, where he is under an overall deal.
The memoir of Sterry’s time as the Mc at the world-famous male strip club is a window into the girls-just-want-to-have-fun, greed-is-good, party-all-the time, coked-up world of 1980’s America through the eyes of Manhattan’s hottest show: Chippendales, where women rule the roost and men get rich and famous (or infamous).

Members of SAG-AFTRA have ratified a successor deal to the union’s master contract covering work on feature films and primetime television.
The performers union announced the approval Wednesday evening following three weeks of voting and spirited campaigns for and against the pact with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. The three-year deal is retroactive to July 1.
The pact received 74% approval among those voting. Turnout was 27.15%.
The performers union, which reps 160,000 members, rolled out several videos in recent days with president Gabrielle Carteris urging a “Yes” vote on the new deal. Her key points are increases at $318 million over the three-year term of the contract, a 26% increase in fixed streaming residuals, and “groundbreaking” improvements in provisions for performers in nude and simulated sex scenes.
“I am grateful for the many members who got involved and used their voices to help set the priorities for this contract,” Carteris said following the vote results.

SAG-AFTRA’s Los Angeles board has voted to oppose ratification of a successor deal on its master contract for feature films and primetime television work.
The move came Tuesday, two weeks after the national board of the performers union had approved sending out the contract for ratification by a vote of 67.6% to 32.4%. Ballots are due back by July 22.
Backers of ratification, led by president Gabrielle Carteris, have touted increases of $318 million over the three-year term of the contract, a 26% increase in fixed streaming residuals, gains in pension and held benefits and improvements in provisions for performers in nude and simulated sex scenes.
Opponents have said the new contract will “destroy” syndication the decades-old fixed residual formula with a three-year loss of $70 million and an eight-year loss of $170 million. They have also asserted that 1.5% of the proposed 2% pension and health increase will be deducted from the wage increase and that there...

Leaders of the Writers Guild of America have unanimously endorsed the successor deal reached with studios on its master contract, triggering a ratification vote among the 15,000 members.
In an email message to members Friday morning, the WGA said, “After the negotiating committee’s unanimous recommendation of the agreement, last night both the Wgaw Board and Wgae Council voted unanimously to recommend the contract. Upon certification by the WGA’s chief negotiator of the final contract language, the Guilds will conduct a ratification vote later this month among eligible members.”
The WGA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers reached a tentative three-year deal in the early hours of July 1. The agreement, reached after six weeks of negotiations conducted by Zoom, eased Hollywood’s concerns about labor strife adding to the industry’s struggle to relaunch production amid the turmoil of the Covid-19 pandemic.

For weeks now Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy have led their fellow “The Masked Singer” judges in terms of the most correct guesses for Season 3. But with Nicole Scherzinger‘s last-minute prediction of Hunter Hayes as the Astronaut in Wednesday’s 13th episode, these three judges are now tied at five apiece. Sadly, “Dead Wrong” Ken Jeong is still the only panelist to guess incorrectly each and every week in Season 3. We’re tracking the judges’ scores all season long, so scroll down to see the updated tallies.

‘The Masked Singer': Astronaut Reveals ‘Little Hints’ He Gave Fans Through the Colors of His Costume
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for tonight’s “Masked Singer” episode.)
Country music star Hunter Hayes was revealed to be the Astronaut when he was eliminated and unmasked on Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.” And now that he’s rocketed off the Fox singing competition’s third season, Hayes was finally able to talk to TheWrap about his time on the show, including why he picked his out-of-this-world costume to begin with.
“I signed up for the show as early as I could, so I had the benefit of getting to look at multiple different costumes and masks,” the singer told us. “I was honestly between two, I was between the Robot [which ended up being taken by Lil Wayne] and the Astronaut. I felt like the Robot was kind of part of my past story, but the more we talked about it the more I realized the Astronaut is way more, I’ll say relatable. But what...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 3, episode 14 of “The Masked Singer,” which aired April 29 on Fox.
Hunter Hayes is no longer “Wanted” on “The Masked Singer.” The country singer was the latest star to be unmasked on the hit Fox reality competition series, having been disguised as the Astronaut.
For his final performance, Hayes performed “Story of My Life” by One Direction on Wednesday night’s episode.
Hayes told Variety that he took the “Masked Singer” gig because, coincidentally, his next album — the second in his “Wild Blue” trilogy — will focus on themes of “the unknown and embracing the unknown.”
“It was a great chance for me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things in a safe place — even though it airs on national TV,” Hayes said. “I think being behind a mask gave me confidence and gave me the chance to really push myself.

Gabrielle Carteris has been re-elected president of SAG-aftra, fending off challenges from Matthew Modine and three other contenders.
Carteris won handily with 13,537 votes, or 44% of ballots cast, to 10,682 for Modine and 5,048 for Jane Austin, 1,096 for Queen Alljahye Searles and 367 for Abraham Justice.
The results were announced early Thursday morning at 4 a.m. following one of the most bitter election campaigns in memory, including multiple accusations of misconduct.
Camryn Manheim won the secretary-treasurer post with 16,047 votes, or 53%, as Carteris’ running mate. She defeated Modine ally Jodi Long, who garnered 10,251 votes, followed by Chuck Slavin with 2,204 votes and Rob Stats with 1,790. The union mailed a total of 145,700 ballots, so the participation level was about 21%.
Carteris, best known for playing Andrea Zuckerman on “Beverly Hills 90210,” has been president since 2016. She and her allies in the moderate-leaning Unite For Strength and United Screen Actors Nationwide have been in control of SAG-AFTRA and SAG for a decade.

As SAG-AFTRA’s two factions threaten to fracture the guild further – now they’re threatening to see each other – independent presidential candidate Jane Austin has embarked on a campaign to unify the 160,000-member union in advance of next year’s negotiations for a new film and TV contract.
Saying that “the two-party slate system represents an antiquated system that no longer effectively serves the interests of the membership,” Austin now is rolling out her endorsements for board candidates from both parties – incumbent president Gabrielle Carteris’ Unite for Strength slate and challenger Matthew Modine’s Membership First opposition slate. Austin, currently the guild’s national secretary-treasurer, was elected to that post two years ago on the Membership First slate.
“Based on the board candidates’ statements, and my experience working with them, I’ve chosen to support these specific candidates no matter what slate they’re on because I know...

SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris and seven of her supporters are threatening to file a lawsuit against their opponents over recent allegations of misconduct by Carteris.
United Screen Actors Nationwide, which endorses Carteris, issued the threat Thursday against presidential challenger Matthew Modine and 19 of his allies running on the Membership First slate, including Ed Asner, Diane Ladd, Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Martin Sheen.
Pamela Jeffrey of the New York firm of Levy Ratner wrote a cease-and-desist letter in response to a July 29 threat from attorney Robert Allen to file a lawsuit on behalf of unnamed members if Carteris was not removed from the ballot. Allen accused Carteris of allegedly using insider information to take credit for SAG-aftra’s new deal with Netflix and alleged that she has been using union resources to promote her candidacy via official SAG-aftra videos.
Jeffrey called the allegations baseless and accused the 20 members — many...

SAG-AFTRA president Gabrielle Carteris and members of her slate are fighting back against Matthew Modine and his slate’s threat of a “frivolous” lawsuit over her alleged use of guild resources, including “insider and highly confidential information,” to advance her candidacy — a claim she vehemently denies. Modine’s team even demanded that Carteris be removed from the ballot in the upcoming election.
In a letter to Modine and his team, Pamela Jeffrey, an attorney representing Carteris and her slate, wrote:
“Our clients demand that you immediately cease and desist from using costly litigation at the expense of SAG-aftra and its members as a tool to advance your own personal political agenda,” wrote “If you do not publicly retract or disavow in writing the threat of a frivolous and unwarranted lawsuit and other demands, my clients have informed me that they will consider other appropriate action to protect the...

Membership First, the “loyal opposition” at SAG-AFTRA, has unveiled its slate of candidates in the upcoming elections. Patricia Richardson is running for president of the guild’s Los Angeles local, and Frances Fisher and David Jolliffe are vying for two local vice president slots. As previously reported, Matthew Modine heads the slate in his bid to unseat Gabrielle Carteris as president of SAG-aftra, and Jodi Long is running for national secretary-treasurer.
Richardson, who is the La local’s first vp, was defeated by incumbent Ken Howard four years ago in the race for president of the 160,000-member union — “We have the largest local, half the union’s members,” Richardson said in her campaign statement. “Our building, doubling as national headquarters and our home, now a construction site rented at $6,000,000 a year, is inadequate for our needs. We still have to rent other spaces for any large meetings. Thanks to Membership First,...
