Considering how much build-up Longlegs has had – with the stream of teasers, posters and symbols – the horror film had a lot to live up to, at least how it was being marketed. Fortunately for the involved parties, Longlegs looks to be one of the horror flicks to see so far this year, with most praising it for being an unnerving work that features stellar performances and channels The Silence of the Lambs.
Check out some of the early reviews of Longlegs below:
I was so lucky to see #Longlegs, and no exaggeration: it could be the best horror film of ‘24. Oz Perkins can really get under my skin; this is his masterpiece. Monroe gives a fabulously unique lead performance, and Cage? Nightmarish. Maybe the scariest 1st 10 mins, ever. pic.twitter.com/ImMEDDxGXi

Horror fans have been keeping a very close eye on director Osgood Perkins' next project, and the first social media reactions for the mysterious Longlegs are in.
These reactions are highly positive, and it sounds like the movie is a genuinely disturbing, terrifying experience.
Though Longlegs definitely seems to be keeping its biggest secrets firmly under wraps for the time being (and the teasers are all the better for it), we do know that the plot revolves around a rookie FBI agent (It Follows star Maika Monroe) attempting to track down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families.
Cage's character has largely been kept out of the marketing, aside from one unsettling shot.
Check out the social media posts below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer.

"Dune: Part Two" spoilers follow.
In Frank Herbert's 1965 novel "Dune," the main character Paul Atreides, and his mother Jessica, flee into the deserts of Arrakis to escape a successful attack on their home by the murderous House Harkonnen. They fall in with the Fremen, the nomadic natives of Arrakis, and Paul will grow to become their leader. Thanks to some manipulation from Jessica, Paul will also come to be considered the Fremen Messiah. When they first fled, Jessica was pregnant. In her years with the Fremen, Jessica will give birth to a girl named Alia. She will grow to be a toddler with eerie powers, granted to her by the Water of Life, a semi-poisonous worm excretion that Jessica drank while pregnant.
In David Lynch's 1984 film adaptation of "Dune," Alia is played by a young Alicia Witt and voiced by an adult actress. In the 2000 miniseries adaptation of "Dune,...

It’s been forty years since the release of David Lynch’s Dune, and although the film is certainly a flawed adaptation of Frank Herbert’s iconic sci-fi novel, there’s something inherently fascinating about it. That fascination has led to the film growing a substantial cult following over the years, which obsesses over every little detail. After all these years, fans of Lynch’s Dune actually have something new to enjoy, thanks to a never-before-seen deleted scene which has been restored by the folks at Nerdist.
The Dune deleted scene centers around Harah (Molly Wryn), a Freman character who originally had a bigger role in the movie. The scene finds Harah explaining to Lady Jessica (Francesca Annis) why the young Alia (Alicia Witt) scares the other Freman. You can check it out in the video below, which includes an introduction from Wryn herself.

Frank Herbert’s Dune novel has long been considered unadaptable for the big screen because of how extensive its lore is, making it difficult to incorporate and encompass every important detail in the movie.
Dune (1984)
The franchise is indeed one of the biggest and most influential in pop culture, and despite the criticism that David Lynch’s 1984 version endured, it remains top-notch when it comes to authenticity, as compared with Denis Villeneuve’s duology.

Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two has avoided the sequel trap and exceeded everyone’s expectations. The film improved upon the lore that the first film developed while also evolving the lead characters in complex and intriguing ways. Villeneuve has done the impossible with the two films as Frank Herbert’s novels were once deemed unadaptable.
Dune: Part Two has performed very well at the box office
However, to make his cinematic adaptation work, Villeneuve has taken some creative liberties and made certain artistic and creative changes in his adaptation. This included the exclusion of the character of Alia Atreides in Dune 2 who plays a big part in the novel. Villeneuve states that this was a deliberate choice and has plans for the character in Dune: Messiah.

Major spoilers for "Dune: Part Two" follow.
"Dune" fans recently got a surprise when it was revealed that Anya Taylor-Joy has a secret role in "Dune: Part Two," Denis Villeneuve's massive blockbuster follow-up to his 2021 sci-fi epic "Dune." There was no word on who Taylor-Joy was playing in the film, just that she was lurking somewhere within the movie's 167-minute runtime. Now that the cat is out of the bag, and critics (like yours truly) have had a chance to see the film, we can finally talk about who Taylor-Joy is playing in "Dune: Part Two," and what it all means.
First thing first: if you're an Anya Taylor-Joy fan hoping to see a lot of her, I have some disappointing news: she only appears in the film during one brief scene. Her voice is heard later. And that's it! It's a very quick cameo. In fact, it's so...

This Dune article contains spoilers.
After ingesting the Spice Melange, Guild Navigators working for Choam gain precognitive abilities, allowing them to chart paths for interstellar space travel, making Arrakis, the only source of Spice, the most important planet in the galaxy. Such is the premise of Frank Herbert‘s Dune novels, which inspired the 2021 blockbuster and Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming sequel, Dune: Part Two.
In the first movie, the Spice enhances young Paul Atreides’ burgeoning prescience. That effect gives Paul visions of his future leading the Fremen with Chani at his side. But it also tells him things about others, as he reveals to his mother Jessica, “I know you are pregnant.”
We here on Earth don’t have access to the Spice of Arrakis or the powers it endows. So if we want to see the future about movie releases or casting decisions, we have to rely on leaks and speculation.

Leave it to Oz Perkins, the son of “Psycho” star Anthony Perkins, to stir up another cinematic nightmare. The first teaser has been released for Perkins’ so-far-so-mysterious “Longlegs,” out from Neon on July 12, with the director here officially credited as “Osgood Perkins,” also the name of the filmmaker’s grandfather.
The horror movie, which centers on an occult killing spree and one detective’s personal connection to it, stars “It Follows” scream queen Maika Monroe as an FBI agent assigned to a cold case now reawakened. But she soon uncovers a close-to-home link to the crimes, perhaps being orchestrated by Nicolas Cage as the murderer. Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt also star.
Perkins directed his own original screenplay for the Neon release — produced by Cage’s Saturn Pictures, Range, Traffic, Oddfellows, and C2 Motion Picture Group — that shot in Vancouver in early 2023. The marketing so far has been pretty mysterious...

Ever since the dawn of the internet, the art of the tease in marketing upcoming films has essentially gone extinct. We're all used to living in a 24/7 entertainment news cycle, where it's easy for the average layman (let alone Hollywood insider) to know which actor has signed a deal to appear in what movie before the thing ever gets made, let alone premiere on cinema screens. Nostalgic cinephiles like myself long for the days when teaser trailers were a regular phenomenon, made almost expressly to announce to general audiences that these movies are coming soon without giving much (or hardly anything) away.
Although the general trend for movie trailers these days is to essentially throw the baby out with the bathwater in terms of cast, plot, big highlight moments, and the like, teaser trailers do still occasionally get made, and it's always a special occasion when these trailers actually, well,...

‘Longlegs’ Teaser Trailer – New Horror Movie from Osgood Perkins Dives into the Nine Circles of Hell
Neon’s mysterious marketing campaign for Longlegs has set the stage for one of the most hotly anticipated trailer reveals of the year, and the wait is finally over this afternoon.
The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.
Longlegs is said to be “in the vein of classic Hollywood psychological thrillers.”
This first look at the movie doesn’t tell us much more about it than we already know, instead conveying an unsettling atmosphere that’s loaded up with mysterious visuals. We get several shots of Maika Monroe’s character (FBI Agent Lee Harker), a glimpse of a book exploring the Nine Circles of Hell, and even a person being killed from behind with an axe. Whatever’s going on here,...

Neon’s marketing department is taking an awesome approach to promoting Longlegs, the latest horror project from The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel director Osgood Perkins. First, they dropped a trio of creepy teasers online, and you can check those out in the embed above. Now they’ve unveiled a quarter of posters for the film, and they’re all quite strange and unnerving. You can take a look at those, with their accompanying captions, at the bottom of this article.

“Don’t you want to be an urban legend, Nat? All your friends are now.”
We heard from a friend of a friend of our roommate’s sister’s brother that there’s a killer on the loose at Pendleton University. Twenty-five years after administration officials swept a horrible tragedy under the rug, the current crop of attractive students are preparing to memorialize the dead in the most respectful way they can: by throwing a huge frat party. Sensitive Natalie (Alicia Witt) is trying to make a fresh start when her own painful past pushes its way to the surface. It seems someone is trying to send a message by murdering her friends and staging their deaths as urban legends. With the anniversary of the massacre approaching, Natalie has only her best friend Brenda (Rebecca Gayheart) and ethically challenged, but hunky reporter Paul (Jared Leto) to find the killer before...

Neon released a cryptic new teaser for an unnamed horror film that had the internet playing guessing games early on Friday. While the studio has yet to confirm what movie it’s for, this teaser, which played out a 9-1-1 call against a Polaroid, is likely for the Nicolas Cage thriller Longlegs. Indeed, the teaser ends with a shot of suspiciously long legs, so…

This article contains potential spoilers for Dune 2.
For longtime fans of Frank Herbert‘s most famous novels, the new Denis Villeneuve films are a kind of gift. As he made clear in 2021, Villeneuve is a Dune fan first, and a filmmaker second. “To me, reading Dune is like a paradise,” he said two years ago just before the launch of Dune: Part One. “The book stayed with me all these years.” Now, with Dune: Part Two just around the corner, we’ve been given a tantalizing new trailer for the film, one that showcases just how much of Herbert’s original work Villeneuve has managed to get into the second part of his sci-fi epic.
But if it’s been a while since you’ve read the original novel, it might feel like this trailer is almost giving too much away.

It’s that time of year when popular Christmas movies are marathoned on television. By now, you are either on your millionth viewing or you’re absolutely sick of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, as the Chevy Chase holiday sequel is a renowned classic that is played every year along with movies like Home Alone, Home Alone 2, A Christmas Story and The Santa Clause. The movie is a family-friendlier entry for the Vacation series that brought John Hughes back to combine his famous Griswold tribe with his penchant for holiday films.
According to People, Christmas Con 2023 has recently jingled its way to Edison, New Jersey. This year, Chevy Chase headlined a reunion with his co-stars from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. The Clark Griswold actor joined his on-screen wife, Beverly D’Angelo, Cousin Eddie actor Randy Quaid and Miriam Flynn, who portrayed Eddie’s wife in the three Vacation films in which they appeared.

Many actors find early success in the horror genre. Jennifer Aniston battled an evil, pun-loving Irish creature in "Leprechaun" years before she landed "Friends," for example. Charlize Theron's first role came in "Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest." Even "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation" boasted not one, but two future Oscar winners in its cast, Matthew McConaughey and Renée Zellweger.
That said, not everyone manages to go on to achieve that same level of success. For every Michelle Williams ("Halloween H20: 20 Years Later") and Leonardo DiCaprio ("Critters 3"), there are countless horror stars whose careers don't reach the same level of renown. It can be especially interesting to look back at teen horror films, which often feature ensemble casts, to see who made it and who didn't. The actors on this list all have respectable careers, and most are still working in Hollywood; they simply never...

In Frank Herbert’s original Dune novel, the character Duke Leto Atreides is set up to fail. Awarded the mining rights to the arid planet Arrakis by a powerful emperor, and given a limited number of days to exploit them, Leto is sent to the desert essentially to die. And in the end, he should’ve known forces beyond his control were conspiring against him from the start.
One wonders whether back in 1984 if David Lynch felt he could relate. An already impressive directorial talent behind intriguing films like Eraserhead (1977) and The Elephant Man (1980), Lynch was a 34-year-old wunderkind when he was tapped by producer Dino De Laurentiis to direct, and eventually rewrite, Dune as a sci-fi epic intended to rival Star Wars. Yet through the vicissitudes of fate—as well as budget, location photography, and post-production studio mandates—the film that reached cinema screens was a fraction of his sprawling vision.

Up next from writer/director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel) is the Nicolas Cage horror movie Longlegs, and the film just received an “R” rating.

This post contains spoilers for the finale of "Justified: City Primeval."
When "Justified: City Primeval" signed off last night, the limited series finale was expected to be the final word on Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant). After all, fans of the straight-shooting, contemplative modern cowboy got six seasons with the character, plus a surprise bonus in the form of the revival series -- an adaptation of an Elmore Leonard story that didn't originally feature Raylan. And isn't that enough? Wouldn't it be greedy for us to ask for more time in this stylish, thrilling world?
Not according to the show itself. In an exhilarating surprise epilogue, "Justified: City Primeval" ended with a fantastic cliffhanger, bringing crime kingpin (and Raylan's ex-friend) Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) back into the fray in typical over-the-top fashion and putting an immediate question mark on the end of Raylan's early retirement. As far as American actresses go, Alicia Witt is as talented as they come, but she also happens to be a talented singer and pianist. She rose to fame when she was quite young, starring in David Lynch‘s Dune. However, that was just one of the first of many amazing movies she would star in. Years later, the actress has quite an impressive filmography with up to 91 movies to her name. However, this article isn’t about every single one of them. After being saved by the “Ding Dong Keep It On” bell on “New York Night,” Medusa was on a mission to prove she deserved her spot in Wednesday night’s “The Masked Singer” finale. She clawed her way back into the competition, taking out Gargoyle and Mantis in the “Battle of the Saved.” Next, the snake-headed songstress belted her way through the “Quarter Finals (British Invasion Night)” and sent home California Roll in the “Semi-Finals,” the quintet that originally defeated her.

It was déjà vu for David Archuleta on Wednesday night’s finale of “The Masked Singer.” The 32-year old performer who had been masquerading as Macaw all season finished in second place to Medusa, the same position he landed on Season 7 of “American Idol” when he lost to David Cook. His emotional journey of self-discovery ended with performances of “Hold Back the River” by James Bay and “All By Myself” by Eric Carmen. Panelists Nicole Scherzinger and Ken Jeong correctly guessed the musician’s identity, but Robin Thicke and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg were off the mark.
