“Army Wives” alum Joseph Julian Soria has joined the cast of MGM's family adventure film “Max,” which Boaz Yakin is directing from a script he co-wrote with Sheldon Lettich, TheWrap has learned. Story follows a military dog left traumatized by his handler's death in Afghanistan. Adopted by the soldier's bereaved family, the dog bonds with the soldier's troubled 14-year-old brother (Josh Wiggins, “Hellion”), and together they begin to heal one another. You know things have come to a pretty pass when a movie like "The Book Thief" looks wrong coming from a major studio. How did it get made? Well, it took a while. Sophie Nelisse ("Monsieur Lahzar") plays a spirited young girl named Liesel who witnesses the horrors of Nazi Germany while in the care of foster parents (Rush, Watson).
The girl arrives with a stolen book and begins collecting other tomes, learning to read while her stepparents harbor a Jewish refugee (Ben Schnetzer) under the stairs. Nico Liersch also stars.
