Sitting down to interview Bridget Everett and Danielle Macdonald, it would have been too easy to forget to turn on the recorder. Everett, an icon on the New York City alt-cabaret scene and protégée of sorts to Amy Schumer, arrives first and asks if it would be Ok to let Poppy, her Pomeranian and an Instagram star in her own right, out of her carrier during our time. (Everett's necklace says "Poppy" in gold cursive.) We're deep into sharing our rescue dogs' obsessive-compulsive behaviors when Macdonald, an Aussie actress who's had bit roles on American Horror Story and Glee, sidles up.
The 26-year-old is still wearing her high heels after many hours of press junketing at Hotel Polomar in West Hollywood, which Everett commends her for. (She'd already swapped her own for a pair of pink flip-flops.) Talk of heels turns to talk of drag and, before long, Macdonald and I realize we both played in the same...

[CUSTOM_PLAYER_BRIGHTCOVE "4786868761001"] Since Bobbi Kristina Brown died last year after being found unresponsive in her bathtub, questions have swirled about the involvement of her boyfriend, Nick Gordon. In a statement to People, Gordon's attorneys, Jose Baez and Joe S. Habachy, say that their client is innocent - and has been going through a difficult year. "Nick Gordon's life has been tumultuous since January of 2015 when he lost the love of his life," say Baez and Habachy. "On top of being prohibited from visiting Bobbi Kristina at the hospital for the last six months of her life, Nick has been publicly humiliated for more than a year.

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 12, “The Black Widow”
Written by Harley Peyton & Robert Engels
Directed by Caleb Deschanel
Originally aired January 12, 1991 on ABC
“Wine comes in at the mouth, love comes in at the eye;
I hold my glass to my lips, I look at you and sigh …”
Twin Peaks without David Lynch is certainly not the same, but it’s impossible to completely lose the magic. Watching these season two episodes can sometimes feel like one is consistently making excuses, forgiving this scene and that scene and placing them within the proper context for it to go down a little easier. The truth is that so much of the series still works, even as it tries to work against all that it has built by, say, giving James his own storyline.

I interviewed James Ellroy, the great American noir novelist, at La's venerable Pacific Dining Car in April 2001. We were there to discuss his latest book, The Cold Six Thousand, but wound up tackling a myriad of subjects over our three hour lunch. Ellroy sported a snappy fedora that I said would have looked great on Meyer Lansky. He barked a laugh and removed it, displaying his bald pate. When he looked at my full head of 33 year-old hair, his eyes narrowed: "That thing on your head real or a rug?" "Real," I replied. Ellroy exhaled for what seemed like a full minute, then murmured: "Cocksucker." We were off and running.

Twin Peaks, Season 2, Episode 7, “Lonely Souls”
Written by Mark Frost
Directed by David Lynch
Originally aired November 10, 1990 on ABC
“It is happening again.”
And finally, the truth. Leave it to David Lynch and Mark Frost, though, to offer something less than comforting. The pair may have been bitter from the pressure to reveal the killer, which they never intended to do, but regardless, this is a brutal hour of television. It’s difficult to imagine that many viewers, so wrapped up in the mystery of who killed Laura Palmer, were all that satisfied with the answer once it came, not that an answer could ever have been as satisfying as the question. The truth is more horrifying than any of us could have imagined.
The majority of the episode attempts to paint Ben Horne as the culprit, as he reveals to Audrey that he loved Laura and had slept with her.

Newcastle‘s manager doesn’t really do under-statement when things are going his way: fair play to him, his last two results have been won on the back of belligerent rigid structure and patience (as well as thanks to some costly mistakes by the opposition). But surely he wasn’t suggesting that he was just like Sir Bobby Robson in the wake of his latest victory against Liverpool?
Perhaps his allusion to Robson having some dark days on Tyneside was just an indication that it can happen to anyone, and that life up here is “not all gin and tonics and aperitifs” (no, me neither). Perhaps he wasn’t trying to say that he is to be judged alongside the Geordie knight, but it’s hard to resist that when he’s also claiming he sort of foresaw victories coming, a little bit (but don’t...

Cougar Town Season 5, Episode 5 “Hard On Me”
Written by Mary Fitzgerald
Directed by John Putch
Airs Tuesday nights at 10pm Et on TBS
There aren’t many recurring characters who bring as much gravitas to a comedy as Ken Jenkins does on Cougar Town. Anytime Chick Cobb shows up in town, Cougar Town morphs from a slapstick comedy about 40-somethings into something more existential, using the established father/daughter relationship to explore some of the more difficult, unanswered questions we face as we head into the middle portion of our lives. “Hard On Me” is no exception: even when it’s not focused on Chick and his Alzheimer’s, death (in the form of an infected Ellie) hangs over the entire episode, a symbolic reminder of life’s cruelest inevitability whenever Chick isn’t on-screen.
As expected, Chick’s presence yanks the attention away from anything else going on this season,...

The Ewings pulled off an elaborate masterstroke to regain control of Ewing Energies and get revenge for J.R.'s death in the two-hour season finale of "Dallas." It was a testament to what this powerful family can do when they work together. Of course, in the aftermath of that unity, the cracks immediately started to show.
Their target was Cliff Barnes, who'd orchestrated a hostile takeover of Ewing Energies. The long-time foe to the Ewing family was outsmarted by J.R., working from the grave through his brother, Bobby. John Ross married Pamela, securing 1/3 of Barnes Global, while Christopher finally got definitive proof that his mother had died way back in 1989 -- Cliff had been paying off her then-husband to pretend she was still alive. With her will, Christopher gained another third of Barnes Global, and just like that the Ewings had controlling interest in both companies.
Meanwhile, Cliff was framed for J.

The mystery behind J.R.'s death may have been "J.R.'s Masterpiece" - but it was his funeral that brought me to tears.
I've watched J.R. Ewing on my TV since I was about 8 years old, so Larry Hagman's portrayal of this charming, dastardly scoundrel will forever be seared into my memory. My only unfulfilled wish for this episode was that I would have loved to see clips from the original series, but maybe we'll be graced with that in the future.
Bobby, Sue Ellen, John Ross, and Christopher traveled to Mexico to identify J.R's body. Yes, it's definitely him but what the hell was he doing in Mexico when he was supposed to be in Abu Dhabi? Thankfully, some of those answers were revealed.
But first we saw everyone react to his death.
John Ross was almost inconsolable. His daddy's dead and he was...

Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Episode 11: To Thine Own Self
Throughout the course of five seasons of Anarchy, one thing has become clear: Clay Morrow is untouchable like Eliot Ness. Bullets don’t phase him. He has a carte blanche license to kill like James Bond. And – no matter how steep his “pile of shit” and atrocities against the club rises – he always manages to find someone who has his back.
“To Thine Own Self” ended tragically, depending on your perspective.
Juice, aka the club rat, was tasked to find the legal documents Clay lifted from his “stolen” safe. It was the evidence Jax needed to throw Clay under the reaper. Unfortunately for Juice, after he found said documents, Jax told him to put it right back where he found it – in the air vent. Jax wanted to reveal the evidence – in front of Clay – with the rest of the club present.

Sons of Anarchy Season 5 Episode 9, “Andare Pescare”
“My conscience is clear.” – Clay
“That was something that never got in your way.” – Bobby
If there’s one thing I’ve learned from five seasons of Sons of Anarchy, it’s that Clay (Ron Perlman) is hands-down one of the vilest (and luckiest) characters in TV history. He’s up there with Snoop (Felicia Pearson) on The Wire, Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson) on 24 and Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) on Game of Thrones – characters you just wish were dead because they are so repulsively evil.
In Episode 5.9, “Andare Pescare,” Clay once again escaped Mister Mayhem. After receiving a lead on Frankie Diamonds’ location from the mafia, the club went up to the cabin where Frankie was hiding. Samcro had voted in favor of Frankie’s death for his wrong doings. While this would have benefitted Clay, Jax and Bobby needed Frankie alive in order...

Today, my heart bleeds once again. Sons of Anarchy Showrunner Kurt Sutter has done the unthinkable.

However, his friendship with Jax and loyalty to the club his father started brought him back into Samcro. Then, Clay ordered Tig to kill Opie – an order that mistakenly resulted in Donna’s death.
The loss of Donna plunged Opie deeper into the club. In Season two, he was ready to do anything...

In this week’s column, James salutes the work of Michael Fassbender, from his remarkable turn in Hunger to this year’s Shame…
In the film Shame, Michael Fassbender plays a man who is slightly addicted to sex. In real life, I play a man who is slightly addicted to Michael Fassbender.
When I say ‘slightly’, what I mean is that Fassbender’s character Brandon’s entire life revolves around his desperate need to satisfy sexual urges. I’m not so deep in what overzealous medical specialists experts may diagnose as an obsession. I can go several weeks without watching a Fassbender flick or thinking about the Irish actor. Still, intense stress and a continued streak of excellent performances by the man himself may swing things and send me spiralling into hooked depravity.

Supernatural: What Will Happen to Bobby? (Poll)
The midseason finale of Supernatural left us with a cliffhanger. Sure, you can all point to the fact that the watch stopped ticking as proof that Bobby's time ran out, but I don't think that's the case. I think the point of the ending was it was meant to be ambiguous and we'll (hopefully) learn Bobby's fate when Supernatural returns tonight.
But that ending has got me thinking - and agonizing - for the last month. What did happen to Bobby? And, depending on what did happen, what could happen to Bobby going forward?
I really enjoyed the Supernatural poll I posted a few weeks ago, asking readers to vote on how Misha Collins and Castiel would return to the show, and I think Bobby's fate is an opportune time to examine the possibilities and have all of you...

It's kind of difficult to express my affinity for the original Dallas. The truth is (and I know I'm revealing my age here), but it first premiered a year before I was born. Technically, I was barely old enough to watch it during its entire 13 year run. But I remember watching it throughout my childhood with my parents and later in reruns.
When I first heard that TNT was making a continuation of the original series, I was interested. But then I watched the trailer for the new show and hearing that familiar theme song made me incredibly eager to dive back into this show. When I first heard that TNT was making a continuation of the original series, I was interested. But then I watched the trailer for the new show and hearing that familiar theme song made me incredibly eager to dive back into this show. There's just something about that music that brings you back to earlier days, when 90 million people would tune in to a single episode or a show like Dallas rarely had a season that was less than 25 episodes.

Eep! The Castiel cliffhanger in Supernatural's most recent episode is sure to leave fans reeling. The truth is, we don't know exactly what happened to him - whether he exploded or died or simply disappeared for the time being.
Thanks to Cas' walk into a municipal lake, the leviathans got into the local water supply and started possessing townspeople. We learned that there seems to be a leviathan "boss" that the others take orders from and they all seem to be infiltrating various businesses in the area, learning more about humans as they go.
Sam continued to have hallucinations, until Dean seemed to talk him out of it and Lucifer disappeared. At least until the boys headed back to Bobby's house only to find it burned to a crisp and a leviathan ready to kill them. Fortunately, they managed to subdue it, but Dean got a broken leg...

What is Piney thinking? Did Jax and Clay do the right thing? And do you pity Otto?
These are all Una Venta-related questions posed below to our Sons of Anarchy panelists - Matt Richenthal, Dan Forcella and Christine Orlando - in the latest edition of the TV Fanatic Round Table. Reader feedback is encouraged...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What was your favorite scene from the episode?
Matt: The re-appearance of Romeo. That guy is the man!
Dan: Anything and everything between Tara and Piney. These two minor characters discussing one of the most important aspects of the show was so engaging. I was hanging on every word as Piney tried to get information from John's letters out of Tara. The fact that he is willing to look death in the face, only makes me love Piney more.
Christine: I know it was a quiet scene, but I loved the meeting of Gemma and the Sheriff's wife.
“The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.” These powerful words spoken by feminist icon Gloria Steinem belie both the sense of fervor she had for bringing about great change and the seemingly empty theater into which that fuel is poured three decades later. Steinem is the latest (after John, Bobby and Teddy Kennedy) in Director Peter Kunhardt‘s In His/Her Own Words series, and she strikes a sharp figure especially when grouped with those politicians. Kunhardt is more than capable of covering the subject after his experience with all things Americana, but the result (while completely fine) is a fairly flat, by-the-numbers documentary that seems only to educate even without presenting new information. It’s fitting that Gloria: In Her Own Words would stand on Steinem’s shoulders. Kunhardt gets out of the way to let her tell her story, filling in the gaps with vibrant archival footage that ranges...
While it’s hard to imagine daytime TV without All My Children, it’s even more difficult to picture the fictional Pine Valley without reformed badgirl Greenlee Smythe and the talented scene-stealing actress who plays her, Rebecca Budig. But with the future of the long-running ABC soap arguably still up in the air, it may be time to bid the two adieu when the broadcast finale airs on Sept. 23.
TVLine spoke in-depth with Budig about her future with AMC once it leaves airwaves, what she would have done differently with Greenlee’s 2009 return, and, ultimately, where she’d like to...
He played some of the most sublime chess ever seen. Then, as a new book and film illustrate, he disappeared from view. What made such a brilliant mind go into freefall?
In 1999, I spent three days sitting in a variety of thermal baths dotted around Budapest. As grand and attractive as the Hungarian capital's spas are, I wasn't stewing myself for therapeutic or leisure purposes. Instead, I was waiting for someone I'd been told frequented the baths, someone who was said to be a genius and a paranoid obsessive, the greatest chess player who ever lived and an obnoxious crackpot. I was looking for Bobby Fischer.
For the last four decades of his life, that's what people did with Fischer – they looked for him. Fans, journalists, biographers, friends, they all tried to find this mythical creature, either in person or in that fabulous abstract realm that he continued to haunt: chess.
It's been two days and I'm still smiling about Monday's Penny Can-tastic episode of Cougar Town! You can imagine, then, how excited I am that there is another new episode airing tonight!
To get you salivating in anticipation, like Jules preparing to take a sip out of Big Carl, here is part two of my interview with Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence. Enjoy!
As Hollywood continues to remake classic films, so far, the works of Alfred Hitchcock [1] have remained relatively untainted. Of course there's Gun van Sant's Psycho, pseudo remakes [2] like Disturbia and The Truth About Charlie and other films [3] in development [4] but considering the huge amount of movies [5] Hitchcock made, it's pretty surprising that we don't have a new remake being released every single month. According to Moviehole, that trend might be starting, as Piranha 3D screenwriter Josh Stolberg has co-written a remake of the 1955 Cary Grant and Grace Kelly heist film To Catch a Thief, produced by Neal Moritz, and it's already casting. Read his quote and more after the jump. In speaking with Moviehole [6], Stolberg (who also wrote Sorority Row and Good Luck Chuck) said the following: I wrote, with Bobby [Florsheim], a remake of 'To Catch a Thief' for Paramount. Neal Moritz is producing, and it’s exciting...
Earlier this week I debunked many of the supposed controversial scenes that would appear in The Kennedys mini-series, which will be premiering on ReelzChannel (read that article). The truth is, The Kennedys shouldn’t be considered controversial. I’m not certain if the mini-series was re-edited or whether those controversial scenes were never even filmed, but the finished mini-series is a portrait of the family that spans several decades.
It also appears that a lot of critics are divided about the quality of the series. They also point out whether liberals or conservatives like or dislike it. I don't really see what that has to do with it one way or the other, but in the interest of full disclosure, while the Canadian political party system is different from that in the U.S., I consider myself to be a liberal. I also liked this mini-series. Was it perfect? No.
Comic book readers know writer Brad Meltzer best from his award-winning work on titles like DC's "Identity Crisis" and "Justice League" series or his recent "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight" run, but Meltzer's also made a name for himself as a bestselling novelist known for heavily researched political and historical mystery novels.
Already no stranger to the television world due to his role as co-creator of the 2004-2005 series "Jack & Bobby," Meltzer will put his years of research into history's most puzzling mysteries in the spotlight Thursday (December 2) when he premieres his new television series, "Brad Meltzer's Decoded."
Each episode of "Decoded" will deal with a particular mystery from Meltzer's vault, and features the author and his team of investigators as they follow clues, conduct interviews, and attempt to solve mysteries like the disappearance of the White House cornerstone, among other puzzles.
It is easy to underestimate the Saw franchise. As the series has progressed, each instalment has received less and less critical attention as it is presumed to have degraded to Jason Takes Manhattan levels of craptitude.
The truth is, however, that the six (going on seven) films in the Saw series have achieved something no other horror franchise could have dreamed of: $738,465,450 worldwide.
While I am the first to admit that the more recent instalments have wavered in quality, they are buckling under a dense, convoluted plot rather than nuking the fridge with a space-set adventure (Jason X, Leprechaun: In Space) or post-modern metafilm (Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, Scream 3, Halloween: Resurrection). Instead, the producers continue to craft intricate and comparatively competent installments on a yearly basis.
Despite the apparent serious nature of the October 29 new episode of Supernatural (as evidence in the promo and a sneak peek we previously posted), it looks like we’ll be getting some humor, as you can see in the sneak peek from Canada’s Space Channel below. Oh, Bobby, can you ever fail to make us laugh? Likely not. Although, truth be told, I always suspected there was more to Bobby than meets the eye. After all, a guy who spends that much time at home has to have some extra-curricular activities. And you just know they went beyond what we saw in “Weekend at Bobby’s”. Of course Bobby watches horrible reality shows and gets pedicures. Only Jim Beaver could sell it like that.
Check out the sneak peek below, along with the Space trailer. You can also view promo photos for this episode, as well as information about...
If you watched last week’s episode of Supernatural, then you know something is seriously wrong with Sam (if you missed it, read our recap here). On the October 29 new episode, we are hopefully going to get closer to understanding what’s going on with Sam. Dean, no longer a vampire and deeply suspicious of his brother, seeks help from both Bobby and Cas to discover what’s going on. When people are cursed with having to tell the truth, he also demands answers from Sam himself.
We’ve already posted promo photos and a trailer for the upcoming episode and now The CW has released a sneak peek. It looks like Dean is back to dealing with stress with his old proven methods – drinking excessively, making threats and being broody.
The situation between the brothers come to what looks like a violent head in the October 29 new episode of Supernatural. If you missed the most recent episode “Live Free or Twi-hard”, you can read our review here. In the October 29 episode Dean reveals to Bobby that Sam allowed him to be turned into a vampire and then confronts his brother when the brothers stumble upon a truth curse. Here's a quick clarification about Sanjay Gupta's next film. A section of the media has reported that the maverick film-maker is planning to remake a Spanish film, which is expected to star the Deol brothers - Sunny and Bobby - in principal roles. The news is partly true, partly false. Partly true: Gupta is remaking a Spanish film. But the other part of the news - the casting - is completely wrong. The fact is that it's a four-hero project and Gupta hasn't signed anyone as yet. "I haven't signed Sunny or Bobby. We are still scripting," he sets the record straight. The truth is, Gupta will start the film early next year, after the Meghna Gulzar film, produced by him, is complete. As far as the casting of Gupta's film is concerned, there're whispers that he is planning to cast Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Arjun Rampal in principal roles.
The top 10 best Adam Sandler movies. Comedian. Actor. Musician. Singer. Writer. Producer. Swell guy (probably). The sum of all these parts makes Adam Sander who he is today; a much loved and much viewed working entertainer. He makes us laugh. He makes it look easy. There are few comedic actors when have been at the top of the box office for as long as The Sandman, so let’s appreciate this multi-talented dude.
10. 50 First Dates (2004)
50 First Dates (not to be confused with the similar-sounding 51st State starring Samuel L. Jackson) is the 2nd collaboration between the Sandman and Drew Barrymore after The Wedding Singer.
Set in Hawaii, Sandler is Henry Roth, a ladies man (!) who falls for Drew’s character Lucy Whitmore. After managing to romance her, he wakes up the next morning to find she has forgotten who he is and has no prior knowledge of the previous day’s events.
Friday's 17th annual Women in Entertainment breakfast, done in conjunction with the release of The Hollywood Reporter's annual Power 100 List, mixed talk about politics and economic woes with poignant speeches and messages about empowering women.
The event honored Glenn Close and featured a Q&A with the top three women on the list: Oprah Winfrey, Disney's Anne Sweeney and Sony Pictures' Amy Pascal as well as a speech by Sigourney Weaver.
Bobby Brown secretly dated Madonna before finding long-term love with Whitney Houston, he reveals in his new autobiography.
The R+B star claims he successfully seduced "half the industry" after moving on from teen band New Edition and finding success as a solo artist.
And his tell-all book Bobby Brown: The Truth, the Whole Truth and Nothing But..., insists no one was immune to his charms, even the Material Girl.
He writes, "By the time I reached my third single on the Don't Be Cruel album, I was one of the biggest stars in the world. You know what that means. With success comes the women! A wise man once told me that. At this time, I probably had dated half of the industry, including Madonna.
"I met Madonna early in my career. She used to open up shows for New Edition in New York at the beginning of her career, so running back into her and getting to know her better at the height of my success was like a reunion. The list goes on from the who's who to the flavor of the month."
Houston this week hit out at the book, that also reveals lurid claims about her drug habits and sexuality.
Her spokesperson said, "Miss Houston is sad that Bobby feels he needs to say such things, but she chooses to take the high road and will not speak badly about the father of her child, even if it's to set the record straight."...
