Lionsgate’s YA sci-fi adventure Chaos Walking will be released in theaters nationwide and in IMAX on March 5, 2021, a push-back from the previous Jan. 22 date. The move comes as distributors begin to adjust the Q1 calendar in response to the ongoing pandemic, which they are hoping quells by spring given the good news about the vaccine.
The $100M Tom Holland-Daisy Ridley feature has been delayed numerous times, one of its big delays due to $15M reshoots in mid-2018. However, Ridley’s schedule on the Star Wars movies and Holland’s Spider-Man and Avengers pushed those reshoots. In May 2019 it was reported that Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez was helping out with those reshoots in Atlanta while Liman remained on board. The feature was originally dated to open on March 1, 2019.

“Chaos Walking,” a sci-fi adventure starring Tom Holland and Daisy Ridley, has delayed its big-screen debut.
The Lionsgate film, which has already been postponed several times, will premiere in theaters on March 5. It was initially scheduled to release on March 1, 2019, before it was pushed to Jan. 22, 2021, to accommodate reshoots.
Doug Liman directed the movie, which is based on the book “The Knife of Never Letting Go” by Pattrick Ness, who wrote the screenplay with Christopher Ford.
“Chaos Walking,” set in the not-so-distant future, follows Todd Hewitt (Holland) as he discovers Viola, a girl (Ridley) who mysteriously crash lands on his planet. The entire area, curiously, is completely void of women, while the men are affected by “the Noise” — a force that puts all their thoughts on display. As Todd promises to protect Viola from harm, he uncovers his inner abilities and discovers his planet’s dark secrets. The cast also includes Nick Jonas,...

In her review, Heather Wixson wrote that Nicolas Pesce's The Grudge is "a chilling and often poignant tale of terror," and if you missed it in theaters, you can soon experience the latest entry in the supernatural franchise from the comfort of your own (hopefully not cursed) home, as Sony Pictures is bringing The Grudge to Digital on March 10th, followed by a Blu-ray and DVD release on March 24th.
Described as "The Untold Chapter," The Grudge Blu-ray, DVD, and Digital releases will include several featurettes, extended scenes, and an alternate ending. The new footage is described as "scenes too gruesome for theaters," so perhaps we'll see even more of the movie's practical effects on the home media release.

As promised during the Lionsgate earnings call on Thursday, Lionsgate has set a release date for their long-awaited sci-fi Daisy Ridley-Tom Holland movie Chaos Walking which is the post-mlk weekend frame of January 22, 2021. There are no wide entries scheduled on that date.
The pic will follow in the wake of Guy Ritchie’s Jason Statham thriller Cash Truck, which debuts over Mlk weekend.
This is the $100M pic from director Doug Liman that is seen as a big bet for Lionsgate to regain its footing in the Ya space it once owned with The Hunger Games. It was determined in mid-2018 that Chaos Walking needed an estimated $15M of reshoots, but Ridley’s schedule on the Star Wars movies and Holland’s Spider-Man and Avengers pushed those reshoots. Last May it was reported that Don’t Breathe director Fede Alvarez was helping out with those reshoots in Atlanta while Liman remained on board.

“The Grudge,” Sony’s horror remake of the 2004 box office hit, kicked off the new year by bringing in $1.8 million at the Thursday box office from 2,393 screens. It opens on 2,642 screens this weekend.
“The Grudge” is the first and only new wide release of 2020 so far, and Sony’s Screen Gems is predicting a $9 million, three-day opening weekend, with trackers saying it could rise to the mid-teens against a $10 million budget.
While there’s still a lot of awards bait and other blockbusters in the marketplace, Sony has a history of releasing modestly budgeted horror films to kick off the new year. “The Grudge” however has a chance to perform slightly higher considering the name recognition of the property. Last year, Sony’s “Escape Room” earned $2.3 million on the first Thursday of the year on its way to an $18.2 million opening. And in 2018, Universal’s “Insidious: The Last Key” made...

It’s one of several startling moments in the first trailer for the film, which Sony’s Screen Gems is releasing at the beginning of next year.
Andrea Riseborough, Betty Gilpin, Lin Shaye, William Sadler, Jackie Weaver and Demián Bichir round out an impressive cast, which is a remake of both the Japanese horror film “Ju-On: The Grudge” from Takashi Shimizu and an American version in 2004.

Let’s start a list of movies that are being remade or, as the saying now goes, rebooted for no particular reason except that Hollywood can’t be bothered to come up with any new ideas. Sound good? Great, because we’ve now got another one to add to the pile: The Grudge.

We need more Pennywise. It is a novel that has one of the most memorable villains in the shapeshifting Pennywise, and as fans of the book, we really want to see as much of Pennywise as we possibly can. Sure, that very idea goes against everything most great horror films do, but what can we say? We live in an era of instant gratification, and any bit of extra footage that we can get will go a long way in convincing me that this version of the character.
So far in the trailers, we got a couple lines here and there, and a couple of extended looks, but we have still to see much of the clown in motion. In this new clip from a Latin American TV spot, we get to see a little bit more of the famed supernatural baddie. It may seem like small stuff, but seeing...

New Line Cinema’s horror thriller “It,” directed by Andy Muschietti (“Mama”), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades.
When children begin to disappear in the town of Derry, Maine, a group of young kids are faced with their biggest fears when they square off against an evil clown named Pennywise, whose history of murder and violence dates back for centuries.
Check out the scary, and I mean Scary, trailer now. I’ll have nightmares for weeks now.
“It” stars Bill Skarsgård (“Allegiant,” TV’s “Hemlock Grove”) as the story’s central villain, Pennywise. An ensemble of young actors also star in the film, including Jaeden Lieberher (“Midnight Special”), Jeremy Ray Taylor (“Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip”), Sophia Lillis (“37”), Finn Wolfhard (TV’s “Stranger Things”), Wyatt Oleff (“Guardians of the Galaxy”), Chosen Jacobs (upcoming “Cops...

New Line Cinema’s horror thriller It, directed by Andrés Muschietti (Mama), is based on the hugely popular Stephen King novel of the same name, which has been terrifying readers for decades. Last week, the folks over at San Diego Comic-Con had an opportunity to check out a brand new trailer for the film, and it didn’t take long for audiences to sing its praises. Now, New Line has released the trailer to the general public, and man is it dope.
The new full trailer for It gives us our most extensive look at Pennywise the Clown yet, as well as an actual idea of what he’ll sound like. While there are some Stephen King fans who chastise the film for making Pennywise so overtly terrifying, we can’t really blame them for taking this route. The concept his superb, and as it stands he really makes for...

True to its name, The Grudge is a cult horror franchise that refuses to relent.
Not since the release of 2009’s lacklustre The Grudge 3 have we welcomed a new entry into the supernatural series, but that’s all about to change very soon. According to Deadline, The Eyes of My Mother filmmaker Nicolas Pesce has climbed aboard to write and direct The Grudge for Ghost House Pictures, which will be based on a spec script from Midnight Meat Train writer, Jeff Buhler. Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert, and Taka Ichise are all on board to produce the horror reboot, working in tandem with executive producers Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake and Nathan Kahane.
Little is currently known about the plot, but it’s safe to assume that Ghost House Pictures’ reimagining of The Grudge will chronicle the titular entity as it moves from one grief-stricken victim to another, leaving...

Meowing might become a scary sound again, as a reboot of The Grudge, itself a remake of the Japanese film Ju-on: The Grudge, now has a director.
According to Deadline, the latest film in The Grudge franchise is set to be directed and rewritten by Nicolas Pesce, the filmmaker behind 2016's The Eyes of My Mother, a big hit on the festival circuit and a film that our own Heather Wixson called "a hauntingly provocative slice of gothic cinema" in her review.
Pesce is expected to provide additional work to a previous screenplay written by Jeff Buhler, who adapted Clive Barker's The Midnight Meat Train for the screen and also co-wrote the upcoming Jacob's Ladder remake.
A Ghost House Pictures film, The Grudge reboot will be executive produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Taka Ichise. Roy Lee, Doug Davison, Joe Drake, and Nathan Kahane.

With The Mummy landing in cinemas this week, Universal has taken the opportunity to launch the trailer for its next Tom Cruise project. Once known as Mena, it’s now called American Made, and sees Cruise reuniting with director Doug Liman, following their work on Edge Of Tomorrow.
It also looks like Cruise’s most interesting acting role in some time.
The film tells the story of a hustler by the name of Barry Seal – the character is based on a real person, even if the adventures around him use creative licence – who finds himself recruited by the CIA.
Here’s the trailer…
(Apparently, the Us version of the trailer doesn’t have drugs in it, fact fans).
And here’s the full synopsis for the movie…...

In Universal Pictures’ American Made, Tom Cruise reunites with his Edge Of Tomorrow director, Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. and Mrs. Smith), in this international escapade based on the outrageous (and real) exploits of a hustler and pilot unexpectedly recruited by the CIA to run one of the biggest covert operations in U.S. history.
Check out the first trailer now.
Based on a true story, American Made co-stars Domhnall Gleeson, Sarah Wright, E. Roger Mitchell, Jesse Plemons, Lola Kirke, Alejandro Edda, Benito Martinez, Caleb Landry Jones and Jayma Mays.
Edge Of Tomorrow was one of the best surprises in 2014. Combined with a lot of action and tremendous humor, the sci-fi adventure became an instant hit with audiences, grossed $111.1 million the weekend it opened in June 2014, made it the number one film internationally and worldwide.
In Jim Batts review, he described Liman’s film as, “a wild ride and an entertainment blockbuster.

Tom Cruise may be hitting the big screens at the end of the week in The Mummy, but today marks the release of the International trailer for the real-life story, American Made.
The trailer gives Cruise a time to shine in the role as Seal with comedic aplomb from the very outset as he crash lands a plane full of cocaine, which also covers his face and bad 80’s haircut, into a suburban neighbourhood but before legging it before he can get caught hands a youngster bags of cocaine to keep quiet – You never saw me. We glimpse Domhnall Gleason as CIA agent Monty Shafer recruiting Seal in a bar before proceeding to get his groove on, on the bonnet of a car as the men’s deal goes from strength. Typical male bravado, womanising and deals galore commence in what promises to be a refreshing role for Cruise,...
