At this point in the season, new episodes of The Voice drastically narrow down the field. The Knockout stages are over, and the competition will only intensify.
Coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, Chance the Rapper, and Dan + Shay still have many talented singers on their respective teams. But that would all change in a new episode of The Voice.

Even on a day when much of America was hoping to see the sun go out, there’s still an ongoing need to hear someone sing “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” That, among many other things, is what’s offered in tonight’s PBS broadcast of a tribute special for Elton John and Bernie Taupin, two of the worthiest talents ever to be awarded the Library of Congress’ Gershwin Prize. If you’re a fan — and who isn’t?, as they say — the two-hour show will provide a total eclipse of all your other most pressing entertainment needs.
Three words: “Joni Mitchell” and “Metallica.” If this salute never moved out of the M’s, it would be worthy enough just based on those two highlights alone, neither of whom probably seemed like the likeliest Elton interpreter. But there they are, on the very same bingo card.

If Sir Elton John‘s career had only spanned the 1970s, he would still be a music legend, an icon of glam and progressive rock. Fortunately, he forged on, segueing into each new era of rock and branching into film and Broadway with comparable success and his signature aplomb and style. As John celebrates his 76th birthday, we’ve undertaken a nearly impossible task — narrowing a huge catalogue of memorable compositions down to the 25 best.
John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947, and showed an affinity for playing the piano at a young age. In 1967, he answered an ad for songwriters and met Bernie Taupin, which led to a long and successful collaboration, with Taupin writing lyrics to which John composed music. It took a few years of struggling, but in 1970 they had their first top ten hit with “Your Song.” In 1972, “Honky Chateau” became his first of seven...

Ryan Gosling took the Oscars stage to perform the “I’m Just Ken” from the Warner Bros. film Barbie. Watch the performance in the video above.
Gosling brought the house down at the Dolby Theater, where everyone was encouraged to sing along with song lyrics playing on big screens.
The actor walked through the audience and let director Greta Gerwig, America Ferrera, and Margot Robbie sing a couple of words, with Gosling’s La La Land co-star Emma Stone sneaking in there as well.
Gosling’s number at the Oscars was an homage to Marilyn Monroe’s musical number for “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend” from the 1953 film Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

The song, co-written by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, is nominated in the Best Original Song category alongside fellow film song “What Was I Made For?” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell.

Mark Ronson, whose song ‘I’m Just Ken’ is nominated for Best Original Song at this evening’s Oscars after Ryan Gosling sang the plaintive ballad in the pink blockbuster Barbie, has revealed the mega-hit nearly didn’t make it to the final version of the movie soundtrack.
Ronson previously collected an Oscar in 2019 for his part in the song Shallow, sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper in A Star Is Born, and has a clutch of Grammy Awards for his work with Amy Winehouse and others.
However, he told The Times of London that when he first penned ‘I’m Just Ken’ with co-writer Andrew Wyatt, studio bosses weren’t convinced it had a place in the movie.
Ronson remembered:
“At that first screening the song wasn’t working. I panicked. The humour wasn’t translating and Greta [Gerwig, director] had to fight. The studio asked her how much she...

Music legend Elton John wrapped up his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour and retired from performing after more than 50 years. However, insiders have now claimed that the ‘Candle in the Wind’ singer has been working on a “top secret” new album that could be released later this year, reports Female First UK.
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “It’s all been very top secret but Elton is back in the studio working on a new album. Starring Lucy Hale and Nat Wolff in the lead roles, the 204 romantic comedy film, Which Brings Me To You, delves into the idea that our existence and love life are a fusion of all our past experiences. Every single one of these experiences has a significant impact on us, especially in our romantic lives. Whether it is in a good or a bad way, however, is quite uncertain, but like all rom-com movies, Which Brings Me To You explores a rather hopeful outlook for the future. This movie unfolds with a balance of humor, heart, drama, self-discovery, and—er, cheese, painting an obvious picture of optimism. The kind of senseless romance you would watch after a heartbreak (scoff!).
Which Brings Me To You explores the intertwining stories of Jane and Will, who cross paths at a wedding. Following an instant connection, they decide to indulge in a seemingly meaningless sexual encounter in a coatroom,...

John won in the Outstanding Variety Special (Live) category for his Disney+ special, Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium. Though he did not attend Monday night’s ceremony, producer Ben Winston accepted the award on John’s behalf.
“We knew this show would be historic because it was going to be Elton’s last ever show in North America on tour,” Winston said. “We knew it would be historic because it was Disney’s first-ever live global stream. We didn’t know it was going to be historic because it was going to win a man, who has created the soundtrack to all of our lives — he’s...

In 1976, Elton John had the opportunity to meet one of his childhood idols, Elvis Presley. John was a longtime fan of Elvis and had long looked forward to meeting him. Unfortunately, the meeting was not what he expected. John found Elvis to be a tragic figure. He walked away from the meeting knowing he did not want to end up like Elvis.
Elton John said Elvis looked terrible when they met
In 1976, John and his writing partner Bernie Taupin attended an Elvis concert. Though initially thrilled to be there, they found the show disheartening.
“We went to see him do a show but it was absolutely pitiful,” Taupin said in the book Sir Elton by Philip Norman. “He was so drugged, he could hardly sing — he just stood there, handing out scarves.”
After the show, Taupin and John went backstage to meet Elvis. This was even more upsetting than the performance.

In October, we heard Taylor Swift had become a billionaire due in large part to the — at that point — $700 million The Eras Tour had grossed. It turns out her pile of money has gotten much larger in the intervening six weeks.
According to an end-of-the-year accounting by live tour publication Pollstar, Swift’s tour has now grossed more than any tour by any other artist ever: $1,039,263,762. And Swift set the record in only eight months.
The superstar played 60 shows in 24 cities in 2023. The tour’s kickoff was on March 17 and its conclusion on Nov. 11. During that time, Swift sold 4.3 million tickets with average ticket price of about $240. Her average per-show gross was $17,321,063.

Music legend Elton John has credited late former England manager Graham Taylor for having “saved his life”.
The 76-year-old singer admitted a foul-mouthed confrontation from the then-Watford boss, in which he warned the ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ hitmaker his drinking and drug taking was “letting down” himself and the club shocked him into receiving help for his issues, reports Female First UK.
An extract from new book ‘Watford Forever: How Graham Taylor and Elton John Saved a Football Club, a Town and Each Other’ published by The Sunday Times newspaper revealed Elton said: “I’ve no doubt that Graham saved my life. Without him, I would have been lost.”
As per Female First UK, on December 26, 1981, Elton — who owned the club — immediately poured himself a whisky when he and Graham arrived at the Vicarage Road stadium, and the next day, the manager arrived early for a board meeting in order to privately confront his boss.

Elton John‘s “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” features a baffling reggae breakdown. John Lennon added that section to “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” himself. In an interview, the former Beatle discussed why he worked with the “Your Song” singer. Shockingly, the aforementioned cover of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” was a much bigger hit than The Beatles’ version.
Why John Lennon played on Elton John’s cover of ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’
“Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” is many things, but it doesn’t have much of a Caribbean vibe. That’s why adding a reggae section to the track feels so incongruous. It’s even stranger when you learn it was the “Imagine” singer’s idea.
During a 1975 interview with Rolling Stone, John discussed his work on the cover of “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. “I heard he was doing ‘Lucy...

The Beatles‘ “Now and Then” was released as a single in 2023, decades after John Lennon’s death in 1980. We can never know for sure if the “Whatever Gets You Thru the Night” singer would have had an issue with his bandmates completing the record without him. However, a comment he made in 1975 suggests he would have been fine with it. In the same interview, he revealed what he thought of a rock star covering “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.”
John Lennon wanted unreleased Beatles songs to see the light of day
During a 1975 interview with Spin, John discussed unreleased Beatles tunes. “There are so many good singles that The Beatles wrote that were never released,” he revealed. “Why don’t people do them? It’s good for me; it’s good for Paul. It’s good for all of us.” From this comment, we can reasonably assume he would...

Kate Bush didn’t attend the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, but some of her biggest admirers celebrated her induction and her decades-long career: OutKast’s Big Boi, one of Bush’s most vocal (and unlikeliest) fans delivered her induction speech while St. Vincent performed the British singer’s resurgent hit “Running Up That Hill.”
Big Boi started his speech by sharing memories of first coming across Bush’s music. “I fell in love with Kate Bush when I was in middle school. My uncle Russell...
