‘Test Pattern’ Review: A Perceptive, Painful Examination of Sexual Assault and Relationship Dynamics
First-time feature filmmaker Shatara Michelle Ford squeezes a lot out of 82 minutes. In “Test Pattern,” a perceptive and often quite painful examination of sexual assault, relationship dynamics, racial divides, and the corrosive power of violence, the writer and director mines a dizzying amount of topical issues, tying them all up as a compelling two-hander to boot. Despite the density of their subject, Ford avoids heavy-handed platitudes and dramatic tropes, instead relying on The result is a showcase for the film’s central trio, one that resonates long after the film’s slim running time concludes.
Weaving back and forth in time, “Test Pattern” opens on the incident that will drive the bulk of the drama’s action: a woozy Renesha (Hall), still somehow managing to sit upright on a bed, a glass of water threatening to tip out of her hand. She’s not alone, and when Mike (Drew Fuller) comes into frame,...

"Everything in the world is about sex. Except sex." Kino Lorber has revealed an official trailer for an indie psychological thriller / realist drama titled Test Pattern, a film marking the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Shatara Michelle Ford. This originally premiered at the Blackstar Film Festival back in 2019, and it played at numerous other festivals the last few years. Test Pattern follows an interracial couple whose relationship is put to the test after a Black woman is sexually assaulted and her white boyfriend drives her from hospital to hospital in search of a rape kit. The film stars Brittany S. Hall, Will Brill, Gail Bean, and Drew Fuller. Winner of top prizes at both the BlackStar and New Orleans Film Festivals, this gripping social thriller offers a "unique exploration of institutional racism and sexism from a Black female point of view." Those bold title cards at the end about sex are very powerful & entirely accurate.

17 years ago today, long before we knew the Force would have an awakening in 2015, Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace brought new tales of a galaxy far, far away to the big screen for the first time since 1983’s Return of the Jedi. It was the beginning of a much-maligned prequel trilogy that would give us Jar Jar Binks, midi-chlorians, and a love story for Anakin Skywalker. (And some good things! Don’t forget podracing! And Darth Maul!) Ultimate backlash didn’t stop audiences eager for a new Star Wars movie from turning out in droves, though: Phantom Menace was 1999’s highest grossing film, and all three prequel films ended up earning over $2.5 billion at the worldwide box office. Revenge of the Sith was also released on the 19th of May. Today marks 11 years since the prequel conclusion hit theaters worldwide, after premiering at – believe it or not – the Cannes Film Festival.

It's baby time for "Army Wives" star Sally Pressman and her husband David Clayton Rogers, a source close to the couple confirms to Us Weekly. The couple has been married for just over a year.
Pressman has starred as Roxy LeBlanc opposite Drew Fuller as her husband Trevor on Lifetime's program "Army Wives" since 2007. On the show, Pressman has four sons, but this real-life bundle of joy will be her first.
"Army Wives" was just renewed a couple weeks ago for a seventh season, set to air 13 episodes in 2013. Pressman's husband David has recently been starring as Ben on "Jane by Design" on ABC Family.

Lifetime has renewed "Army Wives" for a 13-episode Season 7, the network announced Friday.
"Army Wives is a very special program. It’s rare to find a series that connects with viewers and resonates so powerfully after six straight seasons, and we couldn’t be prouder to have it return to Lifetime next year," Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime Networks said in a statement.
According to Deadline.com, Kim Delaney will likely not return for Season 7. So far there is no word on which other cast members will or will not return after the Season 6 cliffhanger.
"Army Wives" averaged 3.2 million viewers during Season 6, which ended on September 9. The season starred Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Wendy Davis, Drew Fuller, Terry Serpico, Kelli Williams and Catherine Bell. Guest stars included Kellie Martin, Alyssa Diaz and Jj Soria.
The show will return sometime in 2013, though no specific premiere date was announced.

Army Wives just keeps going at Lifetime, which just renewed the veteran drama for a seventh season with a 13-episode order for a 2013 return. Army Wives‘ sixth season, which ended its run September 9, averaged 3.2 million total viewers, down from the series’ heyday but still a formidable number. It starred Catherine Bell, Kim Delaney, Sally Pressman, Brian McNamara, Sterling K. Brown, Wendy Davis, Drew Fuller, Terry Serpico and Kelli Williams. Produced by ABC Studios, with Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin serving as executive producers, the series is based on the book Army Wives: The Unwritten Code Of Military Marriage by Tanya Biank, who serves as a consultant. Related: Kim Delaney Poised To Exit Lifetime’s ‘Army Wives’; Will There Be More Departures? Lifetime signaled its intention to renew Army Wives in May when ABC Studios signed Bell to a two-year deal. Coming into Season 6, I was genuinely hoping this would not be the final run for Army Wives. As we are now four episodes from the end of it, though, "Centennial" has proven that wish might have been misplaced.
Did I miss the memo that the entire writing staff was replaced? What the Hell has happened to what was once one of my most anticipated Sunday programs? I barely recognize it anymore.
Honestly, I try. I really do try to find something good in every episode because I know how depressing it can be when you turn up to read about your favorite program and someone is slamming it.
But let's be realistic here. Army Wives has become such a downer it's difficult to sustain life support by the end of the hour each week. Who's with me? Some of you have to be. You've been watching as long as I have.

Filmmaker David DeCoteau has become famous for two things - creating his own genre of film (boxer briefs horror), and for casting hot young actors who may or may not go on to bigger things, but more than likely would rather have all evidence of their involvement (see above) wiped from their resumes.
Under a myriad of alternate names (my favorite being Richard Chasen), David has brought us such memorable trash as The Brotherhood Series, Leeches!, Wolves Of Wall Street, and well, too many to list. If you go further down his filmography, you'll find a soft core classic (Leather Jacket Love Story), and some more ... directly sexual films.
But for whatever reason, David has turned his attention to carving out his own niche, and is now expanding on it with an ambitious new series of films titled 1313. They combine those DeCoteau...

NCIS: Los Angeles Goes Rogue For “Honor” – Review
In “Honor”, NCIS: Los Angeles investigates when a Japanese tourist dies apparently from a beating he received from dishonorably discharged Marine Connor Maslin (Drew Fuller).
Maslin’s discharge occurred after a prominent Japanese businessman accused him of raping his daughter. The Japanese tourist appeared unrelated to that affair, but it could have been a hate crime on Maslin’s part. When Callen and Sam caught up with Maslin, though, he claimed the businessman’s daughter, Maiko, was his girlfriend, that her father trumped up the rape charges as he didn’t approve of the relationship. Maslin further claimed to have smuggled Maiko into the U.S., and that her father had sent the dead man to bring her back to Japan.
The team could find no evidence that Maiko had entered the U.S. They went as far as to interview her father,...

Married life is full of challenges, but being married to a soldier comes with a whole other set of struggles. Lifetime Channel’s original series Army Wives tries to give a glimpse into life on a military base. The show follows four army wives and an army husband in their day-to-day lives. All of them have children and plenty to do, and their spouse’s jobs could change everything on a moment’s notice. While Army Wives is hardly the new Mash, they should be admired for trying to tell these families’ stories, and I think that viewers will find that this show has a bit more meat than the usual Lifetime Channel fare.
Army Wives follows the lives of Claudia Joy Holden (Kim Delaney), Denise Sherwood (Catherine Bell), Roxy LeBlanc (Sally Pressman), Pamela Moran (Brigid Brannagh), and Roland Burton (Sterling K. Brown) and their respective spouses Michael Holden (Brian McNamara...
