If you're a fan of "Five Nights at Freddy's," chances are you're also a fan of The Living Tombstone. Consisting of musicians Yoav Landau and Sam Haft, The Living Tombstone is considered by many to be the unofficial sound of "FNaF," after the duo created a series of songs and music videos inspired by the games. Or, more likely, you're familiar with that absolutely bangin' remix of Andrew Gold's "Spooky Scary Skeletons." You know, the one everyone dances to on TikTok around Halloween season? Yeah, that was Landau's doing.
This is all to say, The Living Tombstone might not be a household name to the general public, but for those in the know, they're a pretty big deal. So much so that when the "FNaF" movie was first announced, one of the biggest questions (outside of wondering if Markiplier would be making a cameo) asked by the fandom...

One royal expert claims Meghan Markle is intent on supporting the truth — but only if it serves her. The expert explained, she “wants truth to be something which makes her look good.”
Meghan Markle | Chris Jackson/Getty Images Writer claims Meghan Markle has a ‘warped reality’
Vanity Fair writer Vanessa Grigoriadis commented about Meghan’s desire to tell her truth during an appearance on Andrew Gold’s podcast On the Edge.
“She has this warped reality and then she marshals evidence underneath it to support a thesis that may not be the case,” Grigoriadis said.
The writer said Meghan is a “striver” who wanted to be a “household name” to rise above her family’s “shaggy-dog-tale.”
Grigoriadis also said she spoke with Meghan’s acquaintances who said she is friendly but not “someone you can be friends with.”
The writer added, “She was desperate for the press to be interested in her.

Meghan Markle finds herself on the receiving end of criticism after a reporter claimed the Duchess of Sussex lives in a “warped reality.” This bold statement reflects their belief of how Meghan has historically spoken of the intrusive behavior of the press while, at the same time, seemingly embracing them.

Since the premiere of Netflix’s Harry & Meghan, the former Suits star has been lying low. She remained out of the public eye during Prince Harry’s promotional tour for his memoir Spare.
Meghan has reportedly been working at home on projects related to the couple’s Archewell production company. The mother of two, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 19 months, may return to the public eye for King Charles III’s coronation ceremony.

Drag events have become a hot-button topic in some parts of the U.S., but in the 90210, a series of drag brunches at the Golden Girls Kitchen, a tribute to the classic NBC sitcom, are simply a hot ticket.
The pop-up — an officially licensed shindig at 369 N. Bedford Drive presented by events and experiences firm Bucket Listers (in partnership with rights holder Disney) — has six brunches on the calendar through the end of October, four already sold out.
“The drag brunches were fastest to sell out,” explained Bucket Listers founder and CEO Andy Lederman. The show’s four characters — Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia — will be re-created by drag queens who are expected to lip-sync the show’s theme song, “Thank You for Being a Friend.”

The death of Betty White just 17 days before her 100th birthday ended 2021 on a bitter note for fans of the sitcom icon. Former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer may not be the most obvious choice to channel our collective grief in the aftermath of the loss, but he took to Instagram and pulled it off with a mournful cover of Andrew Gold’s “Thank You For Being a Friend, the theme song to Golden Girls.

Welcome to this week’s Nxt review, right here on Nerdly. I’m Nathan Favel and Joaquin Phoenix is a f—— weirdo. I still like him, though. Lee Michaels asked Andrew Gold if he knew what he meant, but Gold just told him that he was a lonely boy like David Soul, who just wants to you to not give up on us baby. We’ve got more Nxt invasion stuff to get to, so let’s pretend that this isn’t just Ring Of Honor painted gold and black and get ready to rock.

In honor of Halloween, YouTube Music has culled the 31 most popular music videos that earned more daily views last Oct. 31 in the U.S. than on any other day of the year in 2018.
The list is topped by unsurprising standards like Ray Parker Jr.’s "Ghostbusters" (the theme song for the cult 1984 film), Michael Jackson’s "Thriller," and Bobby Pickett’s "Monster Mash" -- though it also includes more contemporary hits by artists like Fifth Harmony (whose "I’m In Love With a Monster" placed fifth) and Rihanna’s "Disturbia," which landed at No. 7. Jackson technically has two songs in the top five, given that he provided guest vocals on Rockwell’s "Somebody’s Watching Me," which came in at No. 4.
Not a whole lot has changed since last Halloween -- when "Thriller" took the top spot and "Ghostbusters" was at No. 2. "Monster Mash" has remained steady at No. 3, with...

Every generation has a Halloween meme that exists somewhere in the Venn diagram of weird, scary, and vaguely horny. For boomers, it’s the Monster Mash; for Gen X, it’s the scene in Ghostbusters where Dan Aykroyd gets a blowie from a ghost; for Gen Y, it’s the Kxvo Pumpkin Dance Guy with David S. Pumpkins in close second. Now, Gen Z has their own version of Vaguely Horny Halloween Creepiness thanks to the remix of “Spooky Spooky Skeletons,” a 1996 novelty hit by Andrew Gold that’s now...

Ryan Reynolds and 20th Century Fox are celebrating Deadpool 2‘s superheroic start at the box office by thanking the film’s fans in suitable Deadpool fashion: tweaking pop culture with equal parts wit and raunch.
On Friday, ahead of the Marvel pic’s full second weekend in theaters, Reynolds tweeted out to his 11.1 million followers a thank-you video in the form of a Deadpoolian version of the opening credits to The Golden Girls, complete with the song “Thank You For Being a Friend” written by Andrew Gold and sung in the show’s opening credits by Cindy Fee.
Of course, there were fewer guns and middle fingers in the hit 1980s sitcom’s version — though upon reflection Rue McClanahan’s Blanche was fairly bawdy for her time.
Deadpool 2, meanwhile, is cruising to a mid-$50 million second frame in the U.S., which would give it a domestic take...

A few weeks back, I put together a list of a bunch of different outdoor decorations you can make in order to add some thrills and chills to your yards this Halloween season. Today, we have a great collection of Diy décor ideas that are perfect for inside your home, and some are even easy enough that kids can help out if they want to join in for the festivities.
Craft Tube Candles
As mentioned, these Craft Tube Candles (via Fun 365)are one of the Halloween decorations on this list that younger crafters can help out on (just be sure to offer some assistance with the hot glue gun). They make for fun accents around your home, especially on fireplace mantles, and reusable tea lights mean you can get a lot of mileage out of them, too.

The Man from Mo’Wax is a very strange music documentary. Most films of this ilk are glowing accounts of an individual or band’s inexorable rise to the top of the charts, demonstrating their musical virtuosity, inherent genius and the growing adoration of their fans. Here that curve is inverted, director Matthew Jones painstakingly dissecting a person with next to no discernible musical talent as his career crashes and burns.
That person is producer and DJ James Lavelle – hardly a household name – yet kind of an icon to dance music aficionados. His career spans three distinct periods: the first is that of a musically teenage wunderkind who sets up his own cooler than cool record label, Mo’Wax Records. The second is as creative leader of Unkle, where he collaborated with various musical legends to create a series of increasingly poorly received and badly selling albums. The third follows...

J.D. Souther John David Souther Black Rose Home by Dawn (Omnivore) J.D. Souther's songs are better known as sung by other people, which is good for his bank account but puzzling if you've heard his fine LPs. I wouldn't be surprised if more people nowadays know of him from his acting on the TV series Nashville than from his career in music. If there's any justice, these three reissues will redress that imbalance.

For all of those who were confused by Orange Is the New Black's Emmy categorization as a comedy, a cleverly cut clip of the series' most memorable moments offers a preview of what the Netflix show would've been like if it fit more clearly into that TV show genre. Like, for example, an '80s sitcom like Golden Girls. Over the weekend, YouTube user Robert Jones posted a video mashup of the Jenji Kohan series, set to the Golden Girls theme song, "Thank You for Being a Friend" by Andrew Gold. Soprano Marni Nixon speaks about her not-so-secret roles in some of Hollywood's best-known musicals
Long before another Nixon got mixed up with a secret recording in Washington, Marni Nixon was one of the best-loved voices nobody knew. While stars like Deborah Kerr, Audrey Hepburn and Natalie Wood received the applause and record royalties for their work in musicals such as The King and I, My Fair Lady and West Side Story, it was Nixon's soprano who sang their songs uncredited, often after signing a contract never to disclose the ruse.
Years ago, the secret got out and Nixon became kind of a byword for behind-the-scenes vocal stand-ins, of the type that is used less today. But they still are used, says Nixon, 83. "They just have a cleverer way to do it."

Patrick Duffy says he'd like to participate in a Step by Step reunion movie and that it would be interesting to see how the Lambert family grew up. I just hope such a series spawns a serious topical drama that desperately adds a laugh track when ratings tank, giving the Tgif generation a The Bradys of their own.
You've seen me complain that the dark side of a golden age of television is a too-full DVR that make it challenging to keep up with all the good shows (as well as the guilty pleasures and hate watching) available. It also means that shows like Southland and Switched at Birth don't quite get the attention they deserve. I'm still looking for time to get caught up on Game of Thrones, much less time to get to that third episode of Top of the Lake.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse: Psychedelic Pill (Reprise)
A far better album than Young & Crazy Horse's shabby Americana from earlier this year, not so much because it's songs written by Neil (certainly nobody will be impressed by the rather feeble lyrics on display here) as that he stretches out and jams with the Horse. Really stretches out, as in tracks lasting 27:35, 16:48, 8:33, and 16:26 (along with five tracks in the three- to four-minute range). He quit drugs, but he didn't quit reaching for another state of mind; I'd even say that he may be using this music as his drug. The hypnotic trips he takes here make this his best new album in over twenty years, and one of his top five post-'70s albums. Pretty good for a guy who just celebrated his 67th birthday.
David Byrne & St. Vincent: Love This Giant (4Ad)
This could have been a style rip-off.

While everyone was focused on New Jersey passing marriage equality yesterday, in my home state of West Virginia, Del. John Doyle introduced a civil unions bill in the legislature that is an "everything but the name" bill. In all honesty, I'm unsure how I feel about that – we have a statute defining marriage as a man and a woman, not an amendment, and we can't pass a nondiscrimination law. This may not be the attention we want. Still, yay, us!
Also locally, Stephen Skinner, head of Fairness Wv, our only Glbt organization, resigned today to pursue a candidacy for the House of Delegates.

If you've ever had the catchy theme song of The Golden Girls stuck in your head, you have Andrew Gold to thank. The prolific signer-songwriter died on Friday in his sleep from a heart attack. He was 59 years old.
In addition to The Golden Girls ditty, Gold was well known for writing singles like "Lonely Boy" and "Do Wah Diddy." He started writing songs at age 13 and by the 1970s, he was working as a musician, songwriter and record producer. He released several solo albums and had a successful collaboration with Art Garfunkel, playing all of the instruments on the hit song "I Only Have Eyes for You." In later years, Gold worked with such popular artists as Cher, Brian Wilson, Don Henley, Celine Dion, and members of the Beatles.

Today we’re going to try something new: If I go ahead and acknowledge this whole Cheryl Cole fiasco on The X Factor: USA, can everyone stop writing about? She didn’t work out, she got paid $1.5 million for not working out, and now she’s caused The Voice: UK to go into a bidding war between the BBC and ITV because she might judge.
Scientists have managed to trap and study antimatter for nearly 17 minutes now. As the article states, you can’t let antimatter hit matter, because then the U.S.S. Enterprise goes to Warp 9. Or something like that. In any case, what happened at the 18 minute mark?
The Los Angeles Times did a great story highlighting immigration inequality for binational same-sex couples.
Sony has announced plans for a sequel to Salt with Angelina Jolie. I actually caught the movie on Starz last week, and was pleasantly surprised.

Andrew Gold may not have been a household name, but you probably know all the words to at least one of his songs. The musician and songwriter, who had a top-10 hit with "Lonely Boy" but whose "Thank You for Being a Friend" is forever immortalized as The Golden Girls theme song, died Friday in his sleep. He was 59 and had suffered from renal cancer, but he seemed to be responding well to treatment and may have had a heart attack, according to his family. Born to a singer mom and composer dad in Burbank, Calif., Gold—already an accomplished musician—approached Linda Ronstadt when she and the Stone Poneys performed at his North Hollywood high school in the 1960s. He went on to become a...

You might not have heard of Andrew Gold, but you've definitely heard his work.
The singer-songwriter worked with luminaries like Linda Ronstadt, Art Garfunkel, Celine Dion, James Taylor and Sir Paul McCartney in the '70s, but he was most famous for the iconic tune 'Thank You For Being a Friend,' which was used as the theme song for 'The Golden Girls' during the sitcom's seven-year run.
Gold died Friday of a heart attack in Los Angeles at age 59. You know what this means -- Betty White will truly outlive us all.
After the jump, sing along with us as we honor Gold's life (and amazing contribution to the TV landscape).

A few years ago, I asked my Grandma for her pecan pie recipe. I expected an old family secret. Instead, I was informed it was from the back of the Karo Syrup bottle. Mind you, it’s a really amazing pie. Make your own. Donal Logue’s TV show, Terriers, is one of the best things on right now. The first season’s almost done but you can catch up on iTunes or Hulu and you should. It’s on the bubble right now, FX haven’t announced...

Betty White's appeal is so powerful, they're remaking her old shows in Spain.
Variety.com is reporting that 'The Golden Girls' is headed for Spanish TV. Disney Media Networks, Spanish producer Joe Luis Moreno, and the Miami-based Latin World Entertainment will produce the show, called 'Las Chicas de Oro,' for Spain's Tve.
Variety also points out that this is just another in a long line of 'Golden Girl' translations, which have reached Greece, Turkey, Russia, the U.K. and Latin America. Hopefully all of them have included some version of Andrew Gold's 'Thank You for Being a Friend,' the show's theme song.

If you were just sent the link today to a video featuring J.B. Smoove accosting Ralph Macchio in a coffee shop and asking to see his balls — the ones on the bottom of his Reebok RunTones — you probably weren’t 100 percent sure if Reebok was behind the video. If you’re a Jimmy Kimmel Live fan, you knew the answer. This is the second campaign Reebok and the late-night show have collaborated on. Earlier this year, John Lynch, head of Reebok’s U.S. marketing and merchandising, got a call from a Kimmel producer asking if they’d ever consider doing something with the show.

The Dish Rag can't count how many times we've listened to "The Golden Girls" theme song, "Thank You for Being a Friend."
But it took the Thursday (June 3) sad death of Rue McClanahan (aka Blanche Devereaux) -- whose voice you hear in beginning of the video above talking about the original script for "Golden Girls" -- for us to find out that the catchy tune was actually written by Andrew Gold (seen in the video below) for his third album, "All This and Heaven Too."
As a single, the song reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1978. Who knew? The song was later revived for "Golden Girls" in a version recorded by Cynthia Fee.
"Being a Friend" was also heard in "The Simpsons" episode "Double, Double, Boy in Trouble" at Lenny's dinner party.
Most recently, past and present cast members of Saturday Night Live sang the song during an...

Ashley Greene was looking pretty zippy on Saturday night at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Hollywood. The Twilight beauty was joined by her castmate Christian Serratos at the DoSomething.org Celebrates the Power of Youth party at the museum. Also attending the event sponsored by the volunteer organization Do Something were 90210 starlet Shenae Grimes, Little Miss Sunshine heart-melter Abigail Breslin and noted activist Aubrey O'Day. Take a look at our pics from the event and let us know in the comments section: What's the last thing you volunteered for?...

As we said in our Grammy Predictions, we have a love/hate relationship with the Grammys. But hey, we love music, so we're watching to see what happens. Could be a big year for Lil Wayne (did you see his interview with "Miss" Katie Couric?). Could be a controversial night if Coldplay's alleged Joe Satriani rip-off grabs some hardware ("Viva La Vida" by Coldplay and Satriani's "If I Could Fly"). But plenty of great artists are nominated (M.I.A., Allison Krauss/Robert Plant, Radiohead, Gnarls Barkley, Daft Punk, Brazilian Girls....we could go on), so as always, it'll be worth watching, especially for the performances. Unlike the Oscars, where the show is pretty much all about the host, the Grammys are all about those live performances (remember when Beyonce stole the show with Prince back in 2004?). Hang with us and add to the conversation in the comments!

My brother had a Sportsman McCain sticker on his car, but I wasn’t worried. The night before, a nice young man in a bookstore, a complete stranger, gave me a big peace button and with that pinned to my vest, I was pretty sure I was safe from the McCain vibes, even though we were in a red state.
I watched Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live a few hours later, and although I thought she handled the comedy okay, and my dirty old man merit badge glowed just a tiny bit, I was and am not tempted to vote for her, no siree, and so I guess the peace button was potent even indoors.
Who might that nice young man have been? Merlin? Galahad? The ghost of Thomas Jefferson? Or, given that I was in St. Louis, land of the mighty arch and my childhood, the ghost of my own naïve,...
