ABC is developing a limited series adaptation of Elin Hilderbrand’s “Paradise” book trilogy with Ellen Pompeo executive producing, TheWrap has confirmed.
The project, based on the trio of novels starting with 2018’s “Winter in Paradise,” centers on Irene Steele, who, after her husband’s perplexing death, learns that he had been living a secret life with an entirely separate family on the Caribbean island of St. John.
The other two books in the series, “What Happens in Paradise” and “Troubles in Paradise,” were released last year.
“Mad Men” alums Andre and Maria Jacquemetton will write the script for the adaptation, with Pompeo serving as executive producer alongside Hilderbrand and Laura Holstein of Pompeo’s Calamity Jane banner.
The Hilderbrand adaptation falls under Pompeo’s producing deal with ABC Signature, which also sees her serving as a producer on both “Grey’s Anatomy” and spinoff “Station 19.”

HBO Max is adapting DC/Vertigo comic book series Dmz as a television pilot, setting Ava DuVernay to direct the pilot.
Dmz, the cynically-prophesizing DC Comics-published Vertigo title depicting a United States left literally divided after a second Civil War, is the next comic book-inspired small screen project embraced by HBO. Indeed, the premium cable channel has brought in a prominent name in Ava DuVernay – who happens to have her hands full with DC film adaptation The New Gods – to direct the pilot.
There's certainly an intriguing and potentially controversial Civil War premise with this project; politically-charged peril that HBO recently opted to avoid by officially cancelling Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss's long-stalled TV project, Confederate, which carried similar themes of an alternate universe in which America has experienced a second Civil War. HBO's retention of this project, however, seems to...

Several of Elin Hilderbrand’s novels are being adapted into a Hulu drama series, Variety has learned.
The potential series, which is in early development at the streamer, is based on Hilderbrand’s summer romances set in Nantucket, specifically “The Identicals,” “The Blue Bistro,” and “The Matchmaker.” Andre and Maria Jacquemetton will write and executive produce, with Hilderbrand also executive producing and Amblin Television producing.
The Jacquemettons’ previous credits include “The Romanoffs,” “Mad Men,” and “Star Trek: Enterprise.” They are repped by Wme and Manage-Ment. Hilderbrand is repped by CAA.
“The Identicals” follows identical twin sisters living on Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard, and the entanglements they get into when a family crisis forces them to take over each other’s lives. “The Matchmaker” sees a woman set out to find the perfect matches for those closest to her. In “The Blue Bistro,” a woman finds summer romance while working at a local restaurant.

Four years after AMC’s “Mad Men” went off the air, nine-time Emmy winner Matthew Weiner is back in the awards conversation for his anthology series “The Romanoffs.” The truly inventive Amazon Prime program tells the story of various descendants of the infamous Russian royal family living in today’s world, with each of its can’t-miss episodes focusing on a different cast and story. Instead of entering the program as Best Limited Series at the 2019 Emmys, the streaming service has opted to submit three of its eight segments as Best TV Movie: “End of the Line,” “The Violet Hour” and “House of Special Purpose.” Will Emmy voters welcome Weiner back to their exclusive party this year?

Former "Mad Men" executive producers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton, along with "Gravity" producer David Heyman, continue developing a comic book-based TV series adapting DC Comics' near future title "Dmz":
Published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint, "Dmz" debuted in 2005, with 72 original issues published over 7 years, created and co-illustrated (with Riccardo Burchielli) by Brian Wood.
"Dmz" is set in the near future, where a second American civil war has turned the island of Manhattan into a 'Demilitarized Zone', caught between the forces of the Us and the secessionist 'Free States of America'.
The "Free States" movement began with an uprising of secessionist groups that formed a separate government in Montana before spreading across the country.
The "Free Armies" and Us military first met in combat at Allentown, Pennsylvania where the Free Armies won, then marched into New York. A planned evacuation of Manhattan goes disastrously wrong, but despite...

“There’s something wrong with that baby.” -Anka
After a disastrous pair of episodes — one a clunky defense of Matthew Weiner himself, the other a dramatically inert travelogue — “End of the Line,” about a couple adopting a baby from Russia, comes as something of a relief. “More royal, more problems,” seems to be the motto the characters at the center of Matthew Weiner’s “The Romanoffs” are living by.
In the latest trailer for the upcoming Amazon Prime anthology series, a slew of people believe themselves to be descendants of the famous Russian royal family — including Diane Lane, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Amanda Peet, and Kathryn Hahn. And these souls find themselves in the middle of (possibly self-inflicted) drama due to their lineage.
“Michael, there are so many people out there with your background and I guess they’re proud, but they’re really f—ed up,” one character says to another in a voiceover. Another (possible) Romanoff laments: “Boy, you’d think that royal blood dilutes over time, but the poison survives.”

The new series — the first anthology for the streaming service — features eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the titular royal family.

If we (and we do mean the royal we) weren’t excited for “The Romanoffs” before, we certainly are now, as Amazon has released a batch of first look photos and the Season 1 episode lineup for Matthew Weiner’s new anthology series.

Matthew Weiner’s “The Romanoffs” is finally coming to Amazon Prime, the streamer announced Saturday during the Television Critics Association press tour. The news was a bit of a surprise, as Amazon hasn’t said a word about the long-gestating project for months, following accusations of sexual misconduct posed against the “Mad Men” creator last fall by a writer who worked on the AMC series.
Amazon revealed the highly-anticipated original anthology series will debut on Friday, October 12. And, because you’ve been waiting so long to find out when it’s coming, Amazon also decided to tell you who is coming when it lands, with a teaser announcing a line-up of huge guest stars.
According to the show’s official logline, “The Romanoffs” is a contemporary anthology series, set around the globe, featuring eight separate stories about people who believe themselves to be descendants of the Russian royal family. The...

"I have always been able to live with ambiguities. I don't really understand a lot of things that regular people understand, that's part of it. So holding those things in my head, (someone might ask), 'Well, which is it?' Why does it have to be one or the other?" This was Matthew Weiner early in his conversation tonight at the New York Public Library with novelist Am Homes, which he had promised would be the only public comments he makes for a very long time about the end of "Mad Men." Those who came to the event (or watched the live-stream) expecting Weiner to run through a point-by-point explanation of the series finale — and particularly of his intentions for the final sequence, which implied that Don Draper had dreamed up the legendary "I'd Like to Buy the World a Coke" ad — likely came away disappointed. Homes seemed only casually...

"Gravity" producer David Heyman, along with "Mad Men" executive producers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton, continue developing a TV series adapting DC Comics' 'near future' title "Dmz" ("Demilitarized Zone") :
Published by DC Comics under their Vertigo imprint, "Dmz" debuted in 2005, with 72 original issues published over 7 years, created and co-illustrated (with Riccardo Burchielli) by Brian Wood.
"Dmz" is set in the near future, where a second American civil war has turned the island of Manhattan into a 'Demilitarized Zone', caught between the forces of the government and the secessionist 'Free States of America'.
The "Free States" movement began with an uprising of secessionist groups that formed a separate government in Montana before spreading across the country.
The "Free Armies" and government military first met in combat at Allentown, Pennsylvania where the Free Armies won, then marched into New York. A planned evacuation of Manhattan goes wrong, but despite that, the...

Daredevil, Preacher, Supergirl... Lost track of the zillions of comic book shows to grace our televisions from 2015? Here's our cheat sheet.
It’s a wonderful time to be a TV-binging comic book fan. In fact, if you were a little tactical about your viewing habits (and not too fussy in your Marvel/DC preference), we’re approaching a state where you could probably fill an ‘all the soap operas’ shaped hole in your schedule every day with the stuff of capes, cowls and crime-fighting.
Of course, we already have Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Agent Carter, The Walking Dead and – for now – Constantine gracing our schedules. Of those, Arrow, The Flash and The Walking Dead have already been picked up for further seasons, as well. With the exception of Constantine, we wouldn’t be too surprised to hear the rest renewed too.
The fun doesn’t stop there.

As it did for feature film scribes in December, the Wgaw today announced the 15 winners of its 2014 Writer Access Project honoring diversity in TV writing. The program first launched in 2009 aiming to help diversify TV writers rooms by highlighting writers with TV staffing experience and bring their scripts to the attention of industry figures. Eligible writers had to submit themselves in one of five categories: minority writers, writers with disabilities, women writers, 55-and-over writers, and gay and lesbian writers. “The intention of the Writer Access Project is very simple. It draws the best, experienced writers who, for whatever reason, have not been able to get their material in front of showrunners and lets their work speak for itself. The focus is put on the one thing that truly matters when hiring a writer: the words he or she puts on the page,” said 2014 Wap Drama judge Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead...

Andre and Maria Jacquemetton are writing Syfy's TV adaptation of Vertigo's Us dystopian comic, Dmz...
It's far too early in the life of the project to experience anything like excitement about Syfy's in-development adaptation of Wood and Burchielli's Dmz comic book series; but the news probably justifies a momentary, mild tingle.
There. Enjoyable wasn't it?
The tingle-worthy team Syfy has created to work on bringing the Us dystopian civil war mark two Dmz story to television includes Gravity and Harry Potter producer David Heyman, and Mad Men writers Andre and Maria Jacquemetton.
For those unfamiliar with the seventy-issue Dmz series, it tells the story of life during a violent American revolt for rookie photojournalist Matty Roth, who finds himself trapped in the war zone formally known as Manhattan. Translating that to television isn't going to come cheap, but done well, it could be quite something.

Syfy certainly seems to be stepping up their game with the development of DC Comics' Dmz, a drama series based on the DC comic book of the same name about a young man living in demilitarized Manhattan after the second Civil War. Premise aside, Emmy-winning husband-and-wife team Andre and Maria Jacquemetton are set to write it; they both penned episodes for Mad Men's first six seasons. Dmz already seems like the kind of show everyone forgets to watch, only to realize after it's cancellation that it was a total gem. So if you watched Sharknado, even as a joke, you are morally obligated to give this show a look-see. (Not that we didn't love Sharknado, but let's just agree to pull it together now. That goes double for RoboCroc.)...

The show Mad Men was created by Matthew Weiner through Lionsgate Television, and produced by Matthew Weiner, Scott Hornbacher, and Andre and Maria Jacquemetton. The show has been broadcast on AMC since 2007, and deals with Sterling Cooper, a marketing agency, and the characters employed there (“Season 1”). Mad Men is like a time machine. The show is extremely effective due to the believable setting, the lifestyle, the musical score, and the development of the main character, which all exemplifies the glitz and glamor of the 1960s.
Mad Men revolves around the introduction of the main characters, but more importantly, an account that main character Don Draper becomes baffled over. The article below contains spoilers for "The Quality of Mercy," the June 16th, 2013 episode of "Mad Men." Turns out, Bob Benson (James Wolk) is not a spy or a journalist tasked to infiltrate and tease out the dark secrets of Sterling Cooper & Draper. He's a fraud. "The Quality of Mercy," directed by Phil Abraham and written by Andre and Maria Jacquemetton, was an episode stacked with grandmaster-worthy manipulative feats and feints in the office and the domestic sphere, one that outed Sterling Cooper & Partners' relentlessly smiley new addition as a man who'd lied about his past, his education and his former employment, who's from West Virginia and previously spent three years as a "manservant to a senior VP" before showing up at Sc&P with a shiny, fabricated resume and some serious ambition. He may not really be 28 years old -- he may not actually be named Bob Benson. That sounds.

Mad Men, Season 6, Episode 12: “The Quality of Mercy”
Written by Andre Jacquemetton & Maria Jacquemetton
Directed by Phil Abraham
Airs Sundays at 10pm Et on AMC
“You’re a monster,” is the key line of tonight’s episode. It’s almost comically literal when you think about it alongside the exchange between Duck and Pete. Duck claims he’s never seen anything like Bob Benson before, and Pete chillingly intones “I have.” You can almost hear the theme from Phantom of the Opera in the background as it cuts to Don. Variations on this theme have been strung throughout the season. Think back on the moment Peggy walked into Ted’s office only to find Don there. He was reintroduced to us in the premiere reading Dante’s Inferno, suggesting a descent into hell, but now it seems as if he would feel at home there, a monster among monsters.

Don Draper just keeps pulling out the dick moves. And with next week being the season six finale, who knows what he had in store for us? A lot of stuff happened on this week’s Mad Men installment, “The Quality of Mercy,” written by Andre and Maria Jacquemetton and directed by Phil Abraham. So much so that Ken Cosgrove gets shot in the face in the first few minutes and it’s barely a blip on the overall drama scale. Another great episode, this one really sets the stage for the impending finale. It also featured Roger Sterling’s proclamation that he “once held Lee Garner Jr.’s balls!” if that’s any indication. Well, not really. But that line sure tickles. As noted, Don behaved pretty poorly this week, which makes for great television, but not necessarily for making his character any more likable. Don is still pretty worked up over the Sally-caused coitus interruptus...
