Since January has given us an extra week, we decided to do a special Kickstarter episode! Sometimes there are amazing comic book creators who’s fantastic ideas could use a bit of help from fans in order to get us a finished book. We are featuring two great writers who are starting Kickstarter campaigns to promote their titles. From the LRMOnline family we have Kat Kalamia and Omar Morales writer for “Cruzader: Agent of the Vatican” and Guinness World Record holder for the largest comic book published. Kat is promoting her title “Life Father, Like Daughter” and Omar talks about the “Not Forgotten” anthology he is working on. We then venture into our Top 5 independent comics and finish off with the books for the week!

The Goddamned #1
Writer: Jason Aaron
Artist: rm Guéra
Colorist: Giulia Brusco
Publisher: Image Comics
Price: $4
Jason Aaron is best known as the Man Who Made Thor A Lady. Which is hardly the most transgressive thing he’d written up until that point; his Vietnam War series was about as seriously critical an examination of the topic as comics can be and doesn’t let anyone, least of all the United States military, walk away unscathed. But with a title like The Goddamned, one gets the feeling Aaron might have been pulling punches so far. It’s not necessarily surprising; he’s openly talked about becoming an atheist after growing up in a Southern Baptist family but this is, as he said, definitely “not going to be for everyone.” But is it for you, the discerning reader of Destroy The Brain?
Well, let’s talk about what The Goddamned is about.

Special Mention: Shock Corridor
Written and directed by Samuel Fuller
USA, 1963
Genre: Psychological Thriller
Shock Corridor stars Peter Breck as Johnny Barrett, an ambitious reporter who wants to expose a killer hiding out at the local insane asylum. In order to solve the case, he must pretend to be insane so they have him committed. Once in the asylum, Barrett sets to work, interrogating the other patients and keeping a close eye on the staff. But it’s difficult to remain a sane man living in an insane place, and the closer Barrett gets to the truth, the closer he gets to insanity.
Shock Corridor is best described as an anti-establishment drama that at times is surprisingly quite funny despite the dark material. The film deals with some timely issues of the era, specifically the atom bomb, anti-communism, and racism. It features everything from a raving female love-crazed nympho ward,...

Ninjak #5 Review
Coming off the fantastic twist, expansion, and elevation of the Ninjak series that was last issue’s glorious Roku origin, Matt Kindt and Clay Mann manage to bring us back while not disappointing, shifting back into gear to our confrontation with uber read headed assassin and Valiant’s E. Honda, Kannon, and Ninjak’s mission to infiltrate Weaponeer. I need this because the Ninjak I most recently saw, in Valiant’s Book of the Death #1, was really underwhelming. Back to that in a moment.
I don’t have a tremendous amount to say about the issue because while there is definitely revelation, it’s such a seamless continuation of the end of Ninjak #3 you find yourself kind of just riding with it… maybe in the sweet Ninjakmobile that belongs to Colin’s parents, that resembles Ninjak’s colors, especially his classic duds. Also, I just read it once...

Review – Valiant’s Book of Death #1
Valiant’s Book of Death kicks off as a bit of a mixed bag.
There’s a lot I like here but what doesn’t vibe with me is hard to shake and is directly related to how amazing I just told you the Book of Death tagged Legends of the Geomancer #1 was.
Let me start with the good. I want to warn you now of spoilers from Book of Death #1, and also information they gave last month about the series’ villain.
As an original Valiant fan you are immediately fanning the proper flames of interest anytime you echo something I tend to associate with what makes Valiant great. Anytime you have a plot device that offers glimpses of the future to come you are tugging on my Rai #0 strings, a landmark comic for a previous Valiant universe and to a lesser degree an era of comics.

Legends of the Geomancer #1 Review
I loved this so much.
Damn, I’ve missed me some Fred Van Lente pacing. I’ve been enjoying the hell out of Valiant comics who has had talent like Jeff Lemire, Joshua Dysart, and Matt Kindt writing a stable of books that are among the best of the year, especially when considering Kindt’s and Trevor Hairsine’s Divinity, but where books that trio are helming are often grimdarkish looks at the Valiant present and future, Van Lente be the perfect choice to helm what is a bit of an odd project in Book of Death: Legends of the Geomancer, because of his cynic-proof style of storytelling that Archer & Armstrong fans have had to miss in the Valiant universe.
And he was. And we did.

This won’t be a review and you will learn nothing about what occurs in this issue from me. In the recent past I have gone on at length raving about Matt Kindt and Trevor Hairsine’s work on Divinity for Valiant. You can find those pieces here at Boomtron on each issue as I, more often than not, gleefully stumble trying to find the nature of and meaning of a new god in a new comic book (and possible future cinematic) universe, both in their initial stages of existing. Ninjak #4 though? I don’t even want to talk about this issue. And I really won’t. Not because of the same reason I didn’t talk about Dead Drop #2. I loved this, and you have to experience it.
You won’t be able to telegraph it.
The ending of the last issue left us with that was more or less a standard cliffhanger.

Now that it's overseas and on most VOD platforms, La Casa seems to be marketed as a horror film, which it really isn't, but the film's ability to make you think you're going one way until it takes a sharp left into crazytown is what makes this film outstanding.

It’s finally come down to this, the end of World’s End. This drawn out excuse of a weekly has been going on for a good half a year and now the oversized creative crew gets to do their final send off to the book and this entire world. It’s about as disappointing as one would expect.

Batwoman #38
Written by Marc Andreyko
Art by Juan Jose Ryp
Published by DC Comics
Batwoman marches on towards its rather unfortunate cancelation. In doing so, Marc Andreyko has been presenting one of the most refreshing Kate Kane stories to date: a bizarre yet entertaining team up with heroes, anti-heroes, and villains across both Gotham’s underground and DC’s mystic roster.
The issue opens up as all good team ups do, with the yet to form Unknowns (Batwoman, Etrigan the Demon, and Ragman) all bursting in on an arcane ritual to resurrect Morgaine le Fey with the help of an unwitting Clayface. It’s a fairly decent battle, showcasing everyone’s abilities until it’s ended by Etrigan choosing to blow up the entire block to stop le Fey. Unfortunately, it’s after there that the issue starts losing its appeal. Everyone goes their way with the day seemingly saved instead of proper team bonding.

After directing the Best Foreign Language Oscar-winning film "The Secret In Our Eyes," Juan Jose Campanella has done everything except make a feature-length follow up. Instead, he's helmed episodes of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "House," Argentinian mini-series "The Man Of Your Dreams," upcoming entries in the next season of "Halt & Catch Fire" and more. And now, he's taken another left turn with the animated family film "Underdogs," known abroad as "Metegol." And after opening internationally across 2013 and 2014, the movie is coming to U.S. shores this year, and a new trailer has arrived. Featuring an English-language cast that includes Nicholas Hoult, Ariana Grande, and Matthew Morrison, this tale involves foosball, soccer, love, kidnapping, and the adventure to save a small village. Maybe you should just read the official synopsis: From Academy Award® winning director Juan Jose...

Detroit's silver-plated cop returns to the big screen this week rebooted with a sleek black suit and The Killing's Joel Kinnaman on leading man duties. Though Paul Verhoeven's 1987 original is the most well-known incarnation of the character, he stretches far beyond movies into TV, video games and comic books.
Digital Spy takes a look back through the RoboCop video archives below...
RoboCop (1987)
With a B-movie premise, a relatively tight budget and a director in Paul Verhoeven who'd never made a movie in Hollywood before, the odds were stacked against the original RoboCop from the start. However, Verhoeven and writers Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner managed to inject the film with great action, memorable one-liners and a cutting satirical edge that commented on American culture. We'd buy that for a dollar!

DC Comics unleashes another volume of its New York Times best-selling series with Nightwing Volume 3: Death of the Family. The collection includes issues 13 through 18 of the monthly title and issue 17 of Batman. There's a lot going on in this graphic novel collection and it makes reading it all the more fun.
Nightwing has his hands full fighting crime these days in Gotham City. Our hero goes up against Lady Shiva before facing down the homicidal Joker. The Clown Prince of Crime is dead-set on taking out the Dark Knight's sidekicks and it's Nightwing's turn to play bat-and-mouse with the laughing lunatic. In the aftermath of these events, he finds himself dealing with the death of a brother-in-arms before making a startling and life-altering discovery.

Not content with simply providing Batman with a new villainous group, DC Comics commissioned Scott Snyder to create an evil society calling themselves the Court of Owls, which has run Gotham City since before the 1900s. Snyder came up with a cartel of high society malefactors so rich in history and detailed that it's taken literally every Bat-Family book in the belfry to bring the story to a close. Those weren't even enough to get the whole story told. A new series entitled Talon was birthed out of the event dubbed "The Night of the Owls."
Talon Volume 1: Scourge of the Owls collects issues #0 through #7 of the monthly title. It revolves around a young performer with Haly's Circus named Calvin Rose. Little did he suspect he was being secretly raised to be a killer known as a Talon for the Court of Owls. Rose flees from his evil destiny,...

There've been many complaints from comic book fans over DC's New 52 reboot. It's been proven time and again nobody likes change. However, one thing I've noticed with the Bat-Family books is a newfound dedication to fleshing out the villains and making them more menacing and disturbing than ever before. Batman: The Dark Knight Volume 2: Cycle of Violence is a perfect example.
Batman: The Dark Knight Volume 2: Cycle of Violence collects issues #10 through #15 and #0 of the series. It's made up of one story-arc and a quick look into Bruce Wayne's past. I would say this is probably one of the most focused graphic novel collections I've read in a while.
Issues #10 through #15 find Batman facing his own fears as the Scarecrow returns to Gotham City to wreak havoc. The psychotic super-villain refines his fear toxin using kidnapped children and is ready to unleash it upon the people of Gotham.

Update: Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have named their baby girl, Luna Encinas Cruz, according to the Spanish publication, Vanitatis. Javier reportedly registered the birth of his daughter during a visit to Madrid's registrar office on July 30. The name Luna translates to mean moon in Spanish, while Encinas is Javier's first surname. The moniker could also hold special meaning for the couple since the name also belongs to their late director, Juan Jose Bigas Luna, who passed away this past April. Penelope and Javier shared a close bond with Bigas Luna, who they credit for introducing them on the set of their first collaboration, Jamon, Jamon. Penélope and Javier welcomed their second child in Madrid two weeks ago on July 22. People magazine confirmed that Penélope Cruz gave birth to a daughter, but few other details have been revealed about the latest addition to the Cruz-Bardem family. Penélope showed no signs...

There can never be enough Batman books featuring Ra's Al Ghul and the League of Assassins. Countless story arcs utilize the notorious villain either as a central character or the mysterious antagonist who pulls the strings behind the scenes. Although the Dark Knight always finds a way to foil Al Ghul's plans for the moment, the arch villain continues to return and cause more trouble.
Batman Incorporated Volume 1: Demon Star is proof there are still plenty of tales to tell centering on the Al Ghul family. The book consists of issues #0 through 6 of the popular monthly series. Readers could easily find themselves so mesmerized by the engaging story that they read this in one sitting.
Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, Talia, puts a hit out on her son as revenge against Batman. She's also created an army of brainwashed followers and skilled assassins called Leviathan with the goal of destroying Gotham City.

It's almost time!
Penelope Cruz, 38, was seen out and about yesterday in Madrid, Spain, casually dressed in jeans, a leather jacket and wedge sneakers. The actress is seven months pregnant with her second child from husband Javier Bardem and from the looks of it, she's been keeping her famous curves in check and has barely put on any weight.
Just this weekend, legendary Spanish filmmaker Juan Jose Bigas Luna -- who shot Cruz and Bardem to fame -- died from cancer at 67 years of age. In a heartfelt statement, the Oscar-winning actress said "When I was with him I felt time stood still. He was truly special."
"I don't know where to begin," Cruz's Oscar-winning husband added, and said he owes Bigas Luna "the woman I love," and "a career that I never dreamed I could have."
Cruz's next film, Pedro Almodóvar's "I'm So Excited," is expected to hit theaters in June.

Penélope Cruz stepped out in Madrid, Spain, last night. The actress, who is seven months pregnant, looked stylish in a quilted leather jacket with jeans and wedge sneakers. Penélope is in her hometown after vacationing in Barbados with Javier Bardem and their son, Leo, last month. Penélope wore a bikini that showed off her baby bump on the trip, which came shortly after the news broke that she and Javier are expecting their second child. Penélope and Javier will welcome the baby this Summer, before their joint project The Counselor arrives in theaters in the Fall. That movie saw the married couple working with director Ridley Scott, but it isn't the first time Penelope and Javier made a picture together. In 1992, Penélope and Javier first met on the set of the film Jamon, Jamon. That film was Penélope's big break, and both she and Javier received the sad news over the weekend that its director,...

Come Out and Play
Directed by Makinov
Written by Makinov
2012, Mexico
Narciso Ibañez Serrador’s 1976 cult classic Who Can Kill a Child?, a film adapted from Juan Jose Plans’s novel, is arguably one of the best Spanish horror films ever made. Due to haphazard distribution and saddled with a number of other titles (including Island of the Damned and Death is Child’s Play), Serrador’s film barely surfaced. Despite the limited exposure, the film acquired a devoted following. Horror aficionados passed around bootleg VHS copies and occasionally the film would appear on late night television until it would receive an uncut release on DVD in 2007.
Come Out and Play is the English-language remake of that film, helmed by Makinov, the elusive director who refuses to disclose his true identity. He began his career as a focus puller in Russia, and later traveled to Mexico to direct documentary films on Huichol shamanism.

The 1976 cult horror film Who Can Kill A Child gets an update by the masked director known only as Makinov. The original film, directed by Narciso Serrador and based on the Juan Jose Plans novel, may seem like prime property for an updated rendering for those who don’t appreciate the affecting original.
Makinov succeeds at intensifying the assisting elements of suspense and tension through technical structure, but a distinct lack of character development and a focus on emulating the original in a somewhat “shot for shot” perspective keeps the film stuck in a familiarity.
The story introduces us to a pregnant woman named Beth (Vinessa Shaw) and her husband Francis (Ebon Moss-Bacharach) who are on vacation in a tropical paradise. They decide to rent a boat and visit a small island that is holding a festival. Upon arriving on the tiny island they are welcomed with desolation, and the only population is a roving,...

All are first features by wildly original voices who are remixing potent multi-cultural heritage and inventing their own unique brand of genre. So much talent! Makes this Chicanita so proud!
Let’s start with numero uno:
1. Water & Power – from Chicano wordsmith warrior and Culture Clash iconoclast, Richard J. Montoya and produced by Mark Roberts. This is the screen adaptation of Montoya's 2006 play originally performed at the Mark Taper Forum in La. Rife with The City of Angels' legends, haunts and lore, the Chicano noir tale (how cool is that?) takes place over the course of one fateful night. An intense story centered on twin brothers nicknamed “Water” played by Enrique Murciano and “Power” played by Nicolas Gonzalez who were born and raised on the East Side streets playground - one grows up to be a senator and the other a high ranking cop. The young gifted musical artist and composer Gingger Shankar (Circumstance, Charlie Wilson's War) has contributed music to the film. The project participated in the 2007 Sundance Institute screenwriters & directors lab. A madly prolific playwright (a regular Berkeley and Yale Repertory Theatre collaborator), I got a chance to see Montoya's uproarious American history redux play, American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose last fall (read the La Weekly feature review here). An uncompromising artist with a thundering voice all over the culture pop pulse, Montoya's first feature film tops my list of films to watch out for in 2013. Can. Not. Wait.

2. Pardon – written and directed by R.F. Rodriguez and produced by his production company BadMansSon. A story that deals with a cholo ex-con who returns to his barrio in Highland Park and sets to go on the straight and narrow but soon finds himself pulled by his old gang familia may sound familiar, but never has it been as emotionally excavated and depicted with such sensitivity and complexity. Hector Atreyu Ruizis Saul Sanchez whose driving motivation is the chance to reunite with his estranged daughter. Guided by a sympathetic parole officer, played by Tracey Heggins (from the 2008 indie African-American gem (Medicine for Melancholy), Saul tackles catch-22 circumstances towards his mission and confronts growing uneasiness from his vatos who continue to test if he's still down. At its core the film is an exploration about fatherhood and home, in particular highlighting the social phenomenon of absentee fathers because they are behind bars, an issue predominantly afflicting Latino families and communities.
Rodriguez, a USC film school grad, made the feature before graduating, having fleshed the story further out of the short film he made of the same name. His project mentor, Patricia Cardoso (Real Women Have Curves) encouraged him to do more with it and this is the amazing result. With earnest and raw performances, the moving and powerfully directed film marks this a sign of a true filmmaker talent discovery.

3. Recommended By Enrique written and directed by Daniel Garcia and Rania Attieh and produced by their NY based company En Passant Films. Shot in border town Del Rio, Texas (the U.S. side of the Rio Grande) with an offbeat hipster cast of young non-professionals plucked locally, the quirky, mystical tale is about an aspiring actress and an old cowboy who each arrive into town with respective plans and expectations, only to end up waiting for something to happen. Forced to wait out their time, they've nothing to do but explore the bewitching town and its people. Lino Varela plays the Cowboy and Sarah Swinwood, a Canadian newcomer actress nails the airhead wannabe star.
This is the second feature film from Texas native Daniel Garcia and Lebanese born Rania. Their first film, Ok, Enough, Goodbye screened at San Francisco International Film Festival among other world wide festivals, and the duo were included in 2011's Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film. Undertones of a Twilight Zone type of dimension and the spellbinding pull of the dusty town are perfect captured - as anyone who's been in these strange little Texas towns can attest. An unexpected, unpredictable and ultimately lyrical film, this definitely gets my recommendation.

4. Vincent & Luzy (Fka On the Run) written and directed by Alberto Barboza and produced by Cinético Productions. A charming, hip and modern fairy tale love story between a soulful graffiti artist,Vincent, played by Miguel Angel Caballero, and sexy tattoo artist, Luz, or Luzy played by Iliana Carter Ramirez. The film captures and romanticizes the happening, multi-culti rockabilly/emo scene and counter culture of Boyle Heights and Echo Parque, and features lots of home grown talent and spots like Self Help Graphics, the community visual arts mission center. The posters created by Vincent in the film are designed by La native, rising street artist, El Mac (Miles MacGregor). You'll recognize some of his murals around La like this one on Hollywood and Wilton, one of my favorites. He just did the album cover for No Doubt.
An eclectic soundtrack featuring local Vallenato band, Very Be Careful, Hermanos Herrera, Irene Diaz, Doghouse Lords and more. The cast also includes ol' G', Sal Lopez (American Me) and Lupe Ontiveros in what may be her last film role before she passed away last year (she also has a small role in Water & Power).
Fresh, exuberant and inhabiting a distinct, heightened magical street reality, Vincent & Luzy might be the first film to truly reflect this young, vibrant artist subculture, making this one a hot to track.

5. Blaze You Out – written and directed by Mateo Frazier and Diego Joaquin Lopez and produced by Alicia J. Keyes. Set in the rarely seen mystic world of New Mexico, this young female driven thriller is uniquely atmospheric. Starring the rising young talent, Veronica Diaz Carranza (Mamitas) along with Elizabeth Pena, Q'orianka Kilcher and Raoul Trujillo, all who ignite the screen. Diaz stars as Lupe, a DJ who is forced to venture into her town's heroin trade underworld in order to save her younger sister Alicia's life. To do so she must confront mysterious occult figures and harness the power within her to connect with the divine that surrounds her.
I was thrilled to hear that Lionsgate picked up the film at Afm a couple months ago. Lionsgate/Grindstone will release the film July 2013. 6 Sales is handling rights to rest of world. Intense and wicked and unlike anything else this is a film to look forward to. In the meantime, check out the press kit, pics and more on their site.

Must Mention
Chavez – written and directed by Diego Luna and produced by Canana Films, Mr. Mudd and backed by Participant Media. The biography of an iconic Chicano figure, labor rights activist Cesar Chavez, and Luna, who is an international name talent, has obviously been given major press coverage ever since it was first announced so it doesn't really fit my 'Discovery' profile. That said, it is a highly anticipated and eagerly awaited film. I truly hope the film opens wide and mainstream - although Participant will likely need a partner to make this happen in the U.S. Michael Peña, the Puerto Rican actor catapulting towards leading man roles and more regularly Hollywood roles (he's also in Gangster Squad opening this weekend), embodies a young Chavez. It wasn’t quite ready for Sundance so it’s possible the film will bow at a high profile festival like Cannes or Toronto. Although I'm hoping Stephanie Allain, director of Film Independent's La Film Festival will go hard after the film to wrangle what would be a fitting La gala premiere. Diego Luna proved his salt as the filmmaker of Abel, an eloquent and heart-stirring portrait of a little delusional boy who pretends to be the man of the house since his father left. Peña recently shared his approach was to be truthful to Cesar the Man not necessarily the legend or myth generated by his colossal perseverance and labor rights feats. All eyes will be on the representation of such a querido and influential figure. My bet? All in. I trust the filmmakers and cast will deliver a resonant and accomplished cinematic film worthy of the inspiring civil rights story, and more importantly re-introduce Chavez to mobilize our millennial generation.

A controversial change to the judging criteria for the L.A. Stage Alliance’s Ovation Awards is roiling the Los Angeles theater community and could lead to an “evolution” of the rules. The peer-judged awards are meant to recognize excellence in Los Angeles–area theater. But whether that’s recognizing theater produced in and around Los Angeles, or whether that’s theater produced by Angelenos—that is the question. A change to the 2011–12 Ovations judging criteria meant that if a show was originally produced in another location and contained multiple members of the original production team, it was a “presented” production. That meant it couldn’t be considered in individual award categories. The new rule led to some confusion among theaters in their submissions and by the alliance in its judging. As a result, the alliance had to disqualify several nominees, including Center Theatre Group’s “American Night: The Ballad of Juan Jose,...

Some members of the Los Angeles theater community awoke Friday to news that their nomination for an Ovation Award had been revoked. The La Stage Alliance, which bestows the peer-judged theater honors, announced Thursday that several of the 2011–12 nominees were, it turns out, ineligible for the award. Alvin Colt, who was nominated in the Costume Design, Large Theatre category for "Forbidden Broadway: Greatest Hits, Part Two" at Theatre West, was ruled out because his work was not "original." The Alliance said that Colt "created the costumes for a previous production a number of years ago. As a result, those costumes are not eligible for Ovation Awards consideration. Respecting Mr. Colt's excellent work, he will remain a nominee in this category, but will no longer be eligible to receive the award." Even if he'd remained in contention, Colt wouldn't have been able to collect the honor himself. He passed away in...

What’s the difference between writing a comic and writing a TV show? Increasingly, not a whole lot, according to Robert Kirkman. The Walking Dead overlord knows of what he speaks being both the creator of the original comic and one of the scribes responsible for the AMC adaptation (which returns to our screens October 14). “Television has become more and more serialized,” says Kirkman. “It’s moved into much more of a model where there are important plot details that continue from episode to episode. That’s something which has been in comics so long — we’re getting to the...

The 1976 Spanish film Who Can Kill a Child? is completely unknown to those outside of the hardcore horror cinema crowd, and the film has enjoyed a strong but quiet shelf life as a cult item for those who've gone through all the obvious stuff and need to find the "mini-classics" from around the globe. That Narciso Serrador film is frequently referenced when we talk or write about "killer kid, non-occult division" horror movies like Village of the Damned, The Brood, or The Children. So while it sort of makes sense to remake a horror film known only by serious horror fans, the remake producers also risk alienating that fan-base.
Regardless, a filmmaker known simply as Makinov is taking a second swing at the Juan Jose Plans source novel, and while Come Out and Play is not as dark, stark, or exotic as the 1976 film, there's enough simple filmmaking prowess here...

Andre Greipel, who won stage 4 of the Tour de France on Wednesday (July 4), logged a repeat win Thursday when he sprinted across the finish line in Saint-Quentin leaving Team Sky's Mark Cavendish to finish fourth.
Cavendish had a rough stage 4 after hitting pavement when several bikes snarled in a tangled crash.
Australian Matt Goss and Argentine Juan Jose Haedo finished second and third on the 122 mile stage 5 that took riders from Rouen to Saint-Quentin in western France. The course was mostly flat, favoring sprinters and Greipel handily won his second stage in a row, as predicted.
Fabian Cancellara retains his overall Tour lead, followed by Bradley Wiggins and Sylvain Chavanel. Wiggins, along with defending champ Cadel Evans, is favored to win the race.
On Friday riders will ride a mostly flat 207 km course from Épernay to Metz.

Updated: 20th Century Fox informed us that this rumor is not true and there is no script yet. Can trust these Puerto Rican newspapers nowadays.Latino Review reader 'Juan Jose' alerted us that Puerto Rico's second-largest newspaper "Primera Hora" confirms that "Die Hard 5" will film in Puerto Rico in 2011.According to the newspaper, (which is in Spanish) it quotes Gustavo Rivera Aparicio, who's credited as general manager of 20th Century Fox offices in PR, as confirming that "Die Hard 5" will film in Puerto Rico in 2011. The announcement was made jointly with the Puerto Rico Film Commission. Aparicio says the decision was spurred by the succesful filming of "Fast Five" in early 2010, and "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" a few months ago. It also goes on to say that the movie will also film in L.A., New York and Vancouver. Also "Die Hard 5" is just a working title.

Wolverine: The Best There Is has been announced as a new Marvel Comics ongoing series launching this winter. The series, written by former Moon Knight writer Charlie Huston and pencilled by Juan Jose Ryp, will reportedly not focus on the character's past. "Wolverine seems to have been kind of stuck in this rut where he deals almost exclusively with his past," Huston told Newsarama. "He's almost always dealing with something that he's fought before." To change this status quo and begin telling (more)...
