A serial con-bride Dolly, and her gang, capitalise on all things that are severely problematic about the Indian sentiments regarding marriage. They dupe foolish grooms, and their families, through some very plausible tricks. Namely, making sure the pair are astrologically compatible, pleasing to the mother-in-law’s whims and making a buffoon of a groom believe that he deserves a catch like Dolly. This is perhaps the ‘intelligent’ part of Dolly Ki Doli. Everything else is anything but.
We’re given a snippet of an insight into Dolly’s psyche but apparently the writer’s didn’t think their central character and her back-story warranted any screen time. Seeing as Dolly herself is never revealed to the audience, to ask for a backstory for her gang is far fetched, let alone question how they came to being a con-bridal-party. To add to the complications of the writing, there is also a...

“I am really excited to welcome them here in the UK and I hope they build the most fantastic centres here.
Speaking to the media at the launch, Sophie said, “I have had a wonderful association with The Country Club over the past few years. A few years ago, I was asked to perform at The Country Club in India and it was the most amazing experience to see that kind of community spirit. My first show was in Bangalore and the second one was in Dubai. 18,000 people came to see me perform in Hyderabad this year. The most special thing about The Country Club is that, it’s all about family.”

It looks like Kangna's grievances with the Roshans regarding Kites has been completely washed away. Not only was she treated like a princess all through the making of Krrish 3, we hear she will be shooting a song with Hrithik this week in Jordan. Says our source, "Rakesh Roshan will shoot a love song featuring the other pair (Hrithik and Kangna). Since Kangna plays a mutant it was a tricky situation to pull off in the script. Choreographer Raju Khan has come up with steps gestures and movements that require immense body control and subtle facial expressions from both the actors. Hrithik and Kangna have been put through rigorous rehearsals for the number which will be shot in Jordan." While Hrithik's dancing skills need no corroboration, Kangna too is said to be very skilled on her feet. During the making of Kites when she had to perform a Salsa dance item with Hrithik,...

Long before Shah Rukh wiggled his eyebrows and raised his arms for a hug, and well before Salman built that body, there was the inimitable Rajesh Khanna. If the late 70s were Amitabh Bachchan’s one man industry, then the early 70s were Rajesh’s domain. Truly, the era of the first superstars in Hindi cinema has come to an end when Khanna passed away this past Wednesday.
Often called the Prince of Romance, Khanna offered up a gentler and tender side to romance that is sorely missed in today’s era. Born as Jatin Khanna on December 29th 1942, he was a keen lover of films since an early age. His rise to the top also seems like a struggler’s dream, as he was picked from thousands of applicants from the All India Talent Contest. It’s easy to see why. That twinkle in his eye, the tilted head,...

There was a time in the Hindi film industry when idealism was highly valued. From Guru Dutt’s Pyaasa to V. Shantaram’s Do Aankhen Baarah Haath, from Mehboob Khan’s Mother India to Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Satyakam, the protaganists were people who lived and died for their ideals. Their idealism was stubborn even though it gave them great personal pain.
Things started changing in the 70s when the hardships of stubborn idealism gave birth to personal frustration in the new generation – which found an outlet in the angry young man persona. At the same time, the hippy culture was bringing in a new wave of individualism. The youngsters of the era started turning rebels which was well captured by Raj Kapoor in Bobby, which had teenage lovers rejecting their parents authority and eloping. However the idealism was not totally lost, as the older generation held on to it. Film...

A more than five years long wait finally approaches its end: Munnabhai returns!
After Munnabhai Mbbs (2003) and Lage Raho Munnabhai (2006), Sanjay Dutt will play his most endearing role again: Murli Prasad Sharma, called Munna, the gangster with the golden heart. And again, Arshad Warsi will accompany him as his loveable sidekick Circuit.
Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and director Raju Hirani had planned another sequel of Hindi cinema’s most popular franchise already after Lage Raho Munnabhai was released and became a huge blockbuster. At that time, they had intended to send Munna and Circuit to Amerika to teach Gandhigiri to George W Bush. But after My Name Is Khan showed a similar motive, Chopra and Hirani dropped the plan of Munnabhai Chale Amerika and started working on another plot for Munnabhai 3.
As the wait grew longer and longer, rumours started doing the round that Sanju and Arshad might be replaced...

Remember Zarine Khan? Yes, the same damsel who was touted as the look alike of Katrina Kaif. Well, post her debut in Veer, the actress had been missing from action for a while but then announced her cameo in the under-production film Ready. Ready which stars Salman Khan, Paresh Rawal, Arya Babbar and Asin and is being produced by Bhushan Kumar and Rajat Rawail will also feature Zarine. Initially, though it was said that the actress would only be seen in a small part in the film, now we've learnt that it's not just a cameo but she is also all set to boogie in the film. Zarine will be seen in a glamorous dance number with co-star Salman Khan; she has already shot for a dance number with Sallu over three days in various Bangkok clubs. Further the said dance number has been choreographed by Mudassar Khan and Raju Khan.

Bollywood star Salman Khan, known for his notorious behaviour, shot for a funnily titled song, "Dheela character", for the film "Ready" in Bangkok. The song is aimed at describing his character in the comedy film, being directed by Anees Bazmee. Replete with amusing lyrics and Salman's typical dance moves, the song was shot with 100 dancers who were especially flown from Mumbai to Bangkok, said a source. "Shot a song called Mein karoon toh saala character dhila hai. Hehehe (sic)," Salman posted on his Twitter page after shooting the song last week. Two choreographers - Raju Khan and Mudassar Khan - have worked together on the song to give it a truly Bollywood feel. Producers Bhushan Kumar and Rajat Rawail are ecstatic at the way the song has shaped up and are confident that this song will be one of the biggest hits this year, says the source. "Ready" features Asin Thottumkal opposite Salman.

Music-director Pritam and lyricist Amitabh Bhattacharya worked for six months to perfect the number; and recently Khan finished shooting it in three different nightclubs spread over five days under the choreography of Raju Khan and Mudassar Khan in Bangkok. Seems like there’s not a single unit ...
