Seth Meyers is thrilled to be back. After five months off the air due to the writers’ strike, “Late Night with Seth Meyers” returned on Oct. 2 and the host told TheWrap he and the staff fell back into their groove immediately — with an added pep in their step.
“I don’t recommend going through things like a pandemic or a writers’ strike for the purposes of appreciating your job more,” he said. “You should just do it independent of those massive disruptions. But that is a thing they serve to provide, which is a real appreciation for getting to come in to work every day.”
Meyers said there’s an “eagerness” in the staff’s attitude post-strike, bolstered by the fact that he and his writers all feel the work stoppage was worth the gains they received.
“It helps that the writers, myself included, all feel as though the strike was worth it,...

What are all of the late-night stars up to right now?
As The Late Show, The Tonight Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Late Night and The Daily Show were the first shows to be hit by the writers strike back in May, the hosts of those shows have not had the opportunity to give their hot takes on television in over three months – although the majority of them have all been regularly seen on picket lines across New York and LA.
Admittedly, the strike has largely been over the summer, when many of them would have been on hiatus, but it’s still interesting to see what they’ve been doing since having their desks taken away.
“I hate being off,” Seth Meyers told Deadline in April. “My vacation is doing the show. It is more fun than the beach. It is more fun than skiing. I’m done early enough...

What ever happened to the decommissioned Staten Island ferry that Pete Davidson and Colin Jost purchased back in early 2022?
Davidson offered an update during a recent appearance on the “Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers” podcast, detailing the plans that he and his former “Saturday Night Live” co-star have for the vessel.
“We just got all the plans built, and we had them do one of those computer-generated, ‘show you what it could be’ type things, and now we’re out to a few people,” he told the podcast’s hosts, Seth Meyers and brother Josh Meyers, as reported by People. “And it seems like it’s all going well, but it’s definitely like five years away.”

Among the many big names to join the cast in "The White Lotus" season 2, Michael Imperioli was maybe the most exciting. Although he's never retired from acting at any point, he hasn't been in many big, high-profile movies or shows since "The Sopranos" ended. At least, not including "Many Saints of Newark," where he played the same character.
So it was fun to watch him play Dominic Di Grasso, a much more low-key, even-tempered man than Christopher Moltisanti ever was. While Dominic does have a similar infidelity problem, he does at least seem genuinely remorseful for his actions, and he isn't revealed to have any sort of hidden violent dark side throughout the season, despite what the early episodes seemed to hint at. And after six seasons of Christopher getting worse and worse, it's nice to see Imperioli play a character who actually kind of grows as a person.

Hello, Wisconsin! A spinoff of That ’70s Show — appropriately titled That ’90s Show, as it’s set several decades after the original — is in the works at Netflix.
The new series picks up in 1995, with Eric and Donna’s daughter Leia Forman visiting her grandparents (returning cast members Kurtwood Smith and Debra Jo Rupp) in Point Place, Wis., where she comes of age with a new generation of kids “under the watchful eye of Kitty and the stern glare of Red,” per the official logline. “Sex, drugs and rock ’n roll never dies, it just changes clothes.”

Seth Meyers and the Jonas Brothers went on a day-drinking extravaganza together for Tuesday’s “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” and, somehow, at least one compelling pop song was written.
They were joined by Meyers’ brother, Josh Meyers, and “30 Rock” star Jack McBrayer as the group participated in the usual shenanigans that take place when one day drinks with Seth Meyers — plus some added musical flair in honor of the JoBros.
First, as always, Meyers concocted some cocktails with clever names that don’t taste good, like the First Born, which starts with 30-year-old scotch and is finished off with a tablet of Alka Seltzer.

If you've ever dreamed of day-drinking with the Jonas Brothers, keep dreaming. Maybe one day you'll be just as lucky as Seth Meyers, his brother, Josh Meyers, Jack McBrayer and probably some of their close friends and family. While the brothers' close friends and family were not present, the aforementioned men, Seth, Josh and Jack, were. Together, the group of elites indulged in a strange mix of alcohols and chasers, including, but not limited to Nick Jonas' tequila Villa One—it must be mentioned this video from Late Night With Seth Meyers was not #sponsored, but there is many a mention of the liquor's slogan, which is: "Life as it should be". Nine episodes were provided prior to release
More than a year after its promising debut as part of Amazon’s 2014 pilot program, the ten-episode first season of suburban tennis comedy Red Oaks will be available for streaming tomorrow. As both an ‘80s throwback, and one reminiscent of youth-oriented films from the decade, a streaming service release is probably the hippest thing about the series. The type of coming of age story told by Red Oaks is an unmistakably familiar one, but it’s enjoyable to watch this sweetly mild series play a precise, low-impact game.
With ‘90s revivalism on the brink of claiming the nostalgia crown from the decade’s go-go sibling (let’s set the approaching “Back to The Future Day” as a coronation), the cinematic end of genuine ‘80s appreciation can be felt in the (creatively) bankrupt era grave robbing of movies like Terminator: Genisys and Pixels. If any man alive has the right to argue for TV's recent ascension over movies, it would be David Chase. But "The Sopranos" creator has never seen it that way, telling me a few years ago that the only obvious advantage he thinks TV has is that "there’s more of it, and you can get into more detail. I guess maybe this is what it comes down to: in a television show, you can spend a lot of money on very little small things about people.” That ability to expand stories and drill down on characters has always been TV's greatest strength, but it's been particularly obvious with the migration of indie filmmakers to TV over the last few years. Shows like "Transparent," "Girls," "Togetherness," and Hulu's new "Casual" could have easily been made into 90-minute movies that played the festival circuit; instead, we get longer versions that really...

Digital releases seem to be the way to go for a few different video projects these days, and now Rob Benedict is following suit. The actor from the CW’s Supernatural series is releasing his short film The Sidekick on iTunes, Amazon, and Vimeo On Demand on February 3, 2015.
Written by Benedict and directed by Michael J. Weithorn (of The King of Queens), The Sidekick stars Benedict as Max McCabe, a 40-year-old, obsolete superhero sidekick who is fired by his boss Captain Wonder (played by Ron Livingston) in favor of a younger associate named Kid Loco (Jason Ritter). Max makes a new friend (Lizzy Caplan) and must learn to forge a new path for his life. The Sidekick co-stars Martin Starr, Ike Barinholtz, Josh Meyers, and Key and Peele’s Jordan Peele.

Amazon keeps accelerating the pace and output of its "pilot season" process. The original batch of Amazon pilots were presented to the public in April of last year; of those, only "Alpha House" (which got renewed for a second season) and "Betas" (which remains in limbo) got picked up. The second batch of pilots were unveiled less than a year later, and Amazon ordered almost all of them — other than "Rebels," the pro football comedy that no one seemed to like — to series. That was in February, and while none of those new shows has debuted — "Transparent," the best of the bunch, will premiere all of its episodes, Netflix-style, on September 26 — Amazon yesterday unveiled its third pilot season, even as there's already news about casting for the fourth wave of Amazon pilots. At this rate, they may be ordering some shows before a word's even been written, and traveling back...

That ‘70s Show Season 8, Episode 21, “Love of My Life” & Season 8, Episode 22, “That ‘70s Finale”
Directed by David Trainer
Written by Greg Mettler
Original Airdate: May 18, 2006 on Fox
In this decade it’s extremely difficult to find a sitcom that is as perfect as That ‘70s Show was. This show was, and still is, one of the best coming of age/high school set sitcoms (after Freaks and Geeks of course). It’s probably not the first finale that comes to mind when thinking about greatest television finales; but for me it’s way up there.
With good vibes, brilliant writing, and excellent characters that actually evolve That ‘70s Show is, to me, the ideal sitcom. What starts off as a comedy centered on the ‘70s, with a boy with mistaken ideals and a lack of confidence, soon turns into a series of memories, with six characters who weren’t adults...

With his new project The Awesomes, Seth Meyers is approaching Ryan Seacrest levels of ubiquity. The longtime head writer of SNL will be returning to his "Weekend Update" desk this fall, then exiting in time for the debut of Late Night with Seth Meyers in 2014. (Seth is replacing Jimmy Fallon, who's been bumped up to The Tonight Show.) And then there's The Awesomes, which marks both Meyers's and Hulu's first foray into original animation. Created with SNL vet Mike Shoemaker, The Awesomes chronicles the formation of a new superhero team, composed of heroes rejected from other teams for things like "mommy issues" and "age." Meyers and Shoemaker essentially made the show by following their friends around with microphones; the voice actors include Saturday Night Live cast members Taran Killam, Bill Hader, and Kenan Thompson; SNL writers Paula Pell and Emily Spivey; Madtv's Ike Barinholtz, Bobby Lee, and Josh Meyers...

Being Robin has its perks, chief among them the sweet hang time with Batman, but for the most part fighting crime as a superhero sidekick isn't all it's cracked up to be.
In "The Sidekick," a superhero short starring Rob Benedict (who also wrote the film), Ron Livingston, Lizzy Caplan, Josh Meyers, Ian Barinholtz, and others, a slew of number twos in tights lament their chosen line of work while also setting out to be the best they can be. One of the first things Seth Meyers and Michael Shoemaker realized they had in common when they met at Saturday Night Live in 2001 was a love of comic books. They always thought it’d be fun to do an animated show for adults about superheroes, and around 2006, the idea for The Awesomes began to crystallize.
