‘Cold Case’ Japan Renewed for Third Season at Wowow

The new season, titled “Cold Case: The Door to the Truth”, stars Yoshida Yo, Nagayama Kento, Takito Kenichi, Mitsuishi Ken and Miura Tomokazu. Directors include Takafumi Hatano, Akira Uchikata and Toshiyuki Morishita.

‘The Dirt’ Review (Netflix)

Stars: Machine Gun Kelly, Douglas Booth, Daniel Webber, Iwan Rheon, Alyssa Marie Stilwell, Matthew Underwood, Kathryn Morris, Vince Mattis, Courtney Dietz | Written by Amanda Adelson, Rich Wilkes | Directed by Jeff Tremaine

The Dirt, directed by Jackass alumni Jeff Tremaine, is your ultra-conventional biopic that charts the rise, fall and ultimately rise again of cult status glam rock band Mötley Crüe. Tremaine’s film and his first outside of the realm of directing Knoxville and the likes starts as it means to go on, with poorly injected energy, a terrible introductory voiceover and deeply troubling misogynistic undertones.

If you can make it through the ten introductory minutes of The Dirt you can probably achieve anything in life. I’m serious when I say that if it doesn’t turn your stomach or make you blush, feel free to dive into A Serbian Film, In the Realm of the Senses or any

Reverie Canceled After One Season at NBC!

Reverie is done at NBC

The peacock network has swung the ax on the Sarah Shahi-fronted thriller after just one season.

Launching in May to 2.9 million viewers and a mere 0.6 rating in the demo, Reverie Season 1 went on to average 2.1 million total viewers and a 0.4 rating.

With such low on-air ratings, the show was not expected to return for a sophomore run, and the biggest surprise was that it got to air all of its episodes without being pulled from the schedule.

"A former detective specializing in human behavior is brought in when the launch of an advanced virtual reality program has dangerous and unintended consequences," reads the official logline.

Reverie was picked up to series in May 2017 and was considered one of NBC's more promising pilots, but the delayed launch, coupled with the lack of viewer interest is likely the biggest reasons for its demise.

‘Reverie’ Canceled By NBC After 1 Season

‘Reverie’ Canceled By NBC After 1 Season
NBC has opted not to renew high-concept drama series Reverie for a second season. The news is not a surprise following the series’ low-rated freshman run.

Reverie, starring Sarah Shahi and Dennis Haysbert, premiered on May 30 and averaged 2.1 million viewers in Live+same day, the smallest viewership for an NBC original series this past summer.

From Extant creator Mickey Fisher, thriller Reverie followed Mara Kint (Shahi), a former hostage negotiator and expert on human behavior who became a college professor after facing an unimaginable personal tragedy. But when her former boss, Charlie Ventana (Haysbert), brings her in to save ordinary people who have lost themselves in a highly advanced immersive virtual-reality program in which you can live out your wildest dreams, she finds that in saving others, she may actually have discovered a way to save herself.

The cast also included Sendhil Ramamurthy, Jessica Lu and Kathryn Morris.

Reverie: Season One Ratings

Last summer, the Peacock Network released a horror series, Midnight, Texas, and while it didn't burn up the Nielsen ratings, it did well enough to score a season two renewal. This time out, NBC is introducing the science-fiction TV show, Reverie. Can it lure in enough "genre" fans to earn decent ratings and earn second season pickup? Will Reverie be cancelled or renewed for season two on NBC? Stay tuned. Reverie Season 1 Episode 1 Review: Going Down the Rabbit Hole

Let's call this Touched by a Vr Angel.

A former police negotiator chooses to bring people back to reality on Reverie Season 1 Episode 1.

And maybe, just maybe, she can heal herself as well.

This new drama offers the none-too-subtle message of "Get off your phones and take in the world around you."

Wait a sec. I got a text.

Where was I?

Oh, yeah. Reality: let's embrace it.

I suppose, if you're going to have somebody yank you out of paradise, granted for your own good, why not have it be Sarah Shahi?

It's good to have Shahi back in a starring role on TV. It's been far too long since Person of Interest left the air. (I know. Only two years. It just seems longer.)

She returns on another series that's dealing with cutting-edge technology. Shaw's tactics aren't going to work here,

‘Reverie’ Review: This ‘Black Mirror’-Lite NBC Drama Is a Dazzling and Poignant Summer Diversion

‘Reverie’ Review: This ‘Black Mirror’-Lite NBC Drama Is a Dazzling and Poignant Summer Diversion
In the “Black Mirror” episode “Be Right Back,” artist Martha (Hayley Atwell) makes a last-ditch effort to deal with the overwhelming grief of losing her boyfriend Ash (Domhnall Gleeson). After his fatal car accident, Martha uploads all of his social media into an AI that allows it to mimic the way he thinks, speaks, and acts. NBC’s new summer series “Reverie” also allows people to revisit loved ones via their social media footprint, although in a different setting.

While “Black Mirror” brought the AI to life into Martha’s sphere of existence first via text and phone chats and then in a bio-enhanced android, NBC’s series makes the user enter a virtual world for the reunion. Not bound by the mundane rules of physics and logic, this alternate existence allows “Reverie” to take fanciful flights that lead to exciting visual and psychological explorations.

“Reverie” stars Sarah Shahi as former hostage negotiator Mara Kint,

The psychological thriller focuses on the Reverie program, which uses a client's social media to create a virtual-reality dream world.

Unfortunately, some prefer the virtual world to reality, and Charlie, head of security for Onira-tech, recruits his former co-worker, Mara Kint, to enter these dream scenarios and entice these clients out before they die in the real world.

Reverie stars Sarah Shahi, Dennis Haysbert, Kathryn Morris, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Jessica Lu.

Ramamurthy, best known as Dr. Mohinder Suresh on Heroes, plays Paul Hammond, the groundbreaking architect of Reverie's dream world. Like all other involved with Onira-tech, Paul has his issues with which he hopes Reverie can help.

Ramamurthy talks about the Reverie program and its good and bad sides, his character, Paul, and how the show examines technological advances during

‘The Lodger’ DVD Review

  • Nerdly
Stars: Alexa PenaVega, Spencer Grammer, Kathryn Morris, Richard Riehle, Bryan Dechart | Written by Aaron Horwitz | Directed by Rob Margolies

Originally titled 2Br/1Ba, then retitled Roommate Wanted for its Us release, The Lodger - debuting here in the UK complete with cliched supermarket-friendly dark, brooding artwork which sells the film more as a straight up horror rather than the black comedy is really is (talk about mis-marketing) – is actually a loose remake of 2Ldk, the 2003 Japanese “film” (it only ran just over an hour) directed by Yukihiko Tsutsumi.

Interestingly, 2Ldk was actually made as part of a filmmmaking challenge called the “Duel Project”, which saw Tsutsumi go head to head with director Ryuhei Kitamura to make a film under strict criteria: The script can contain no more than 2-3 characters and must be shot, on a low budget, in seven days and can only take place in one setting. The most important rule?
