Alia Bhatt’s Met Gala Look Gets Brutally Trolled For Not Offering Anything New(Photo Credit –Instagram)
Alia Bhatt walked the Met Gala carpet last night, and her look turned into the talk of the town. The actress, who has often been criticized for something or another, had to bear the brunt because of her designer, Sabyasachi.
Alia wore an intrinsic detailed Sabya Saree, keeping in mind the theme of the Met Gala and sharing her pictures on Instagram. The actress wrote, “We looked to the past as a guide for the future, drawing inspiration from the timeless sophistication of Indian nobility.”
However, the internet could not help but spot major similarities between this saree, Deepika Padukone’s saree at Marathi Filmfare Awards 2017, and Katrina Kaif’s wedding saree! And all hell broke loose. Sabyasachi was called out for presenting Alia at the Met Gala in such a sad state.

Directed by Vishal Bhardwaj
Being an ardent fan of Agatha Christie’s timeless whodunits I was so looking forward to what Vishal Bhardwaj has done to one of Christie’s lesser known murder mysteries The Sittaford Mystery.
But, hell, what is this?!
The thing about Agatha Christie is, even if you’ve read the novel and know who the killer is, you can still return to the story and be just as enthralled by the characterization and plot development as the first time.
In Charlie Chopra, it ceases to matter after a few episodes who the killer is. After a point, you just don’t care about this family of dysfunctional gold diggers. Each of them could have killed Brigadier Meherban...

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah is one of the most forward-thinking artistes of Indian cinema. So, when he talks about something, the world sits down to take notice. The senior actor, who has donned the hat of a director for the second time with his recently released short film ‘Man Woman, Man Woman’, feels that the mainstream cinema of India hasn’t fully stuck to its responsibilities as a medium of art.
Naseer said, “Our mainstream cinema has ruined the taste of the audience forever. Filmmaker Satyajit Ray mentioned about this thing in his book titled ‘Our films, their films’ which he wrote 50 years ago. He wasn’t running down Indian films, but he was merely comparing the Indian filmmakers with international filmmakers.”
The actor shared that Ray wished for our audience to be more “discerning”, and stressed upon the importance of the audience that questions a filmmaker.

There is a video post of a media interview of Ratna Pathak Shah on social media which is generating huge reactions. She narrates her observations on the behaviour of stars on flights. According to her, a star would not even ask for his coffee. Instead, one of his aides would get it, open the lid for him. The star would take a sip and hand back the coffee to his aide. She finds this to be dangerous for a star to be behaving like a toddler and depending to this extent on others.
I don’t know for sure but I don’t think even the kings and princes behaved this way. And, to think that most of these film stars come from ordinary middle class or poor families. So what makes our film stars need so much pampering! Can’t a star ask for coffee from the cabin crew and hold his own coffee?...

Happy Family, Conditions Apply(Prime)

Dysfunctional families are the new functional. Coincidentally the feature film Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar and the series Happy Family, Conditions Apply released this week, share an affinity for the joint family, creaky joints and all, not to mention their lengthy V. Shantaram styled titles.
Happy Family is a strange animal. It infuriates and amuses, exasperates and endears itself provided you stay non-judgemental about the borderline obsessive characters as well as about the content which gives them a freeflowing movement that frequently makes them look foolish.
Part of our mixed feelings come from the fact that the characters, each so sharply written you feel you know him or her (although you don’t really want to), are like that: highly annoying and fixated in their opinions. None more so than Hemlata Dholakia, played smirkingly by the magnificent Ratna Pathak Shah...

Mumbai, March 10 (Ians) Actress Ratna Pathak Shah, who is enjoying the response to their recently released streaming series ‘Happy Family: Conditions Apply’, has shared that comedy opened up new avenues for her as an actor.
She added that in the absence of comedy, her body of work would have turned out to be that of a very serious actress, who does only intense roles.
The veteran actress recently appeared with her co-actress Ayesha Jhulka on a chat show. Ratna, who is known for her iconic role of Maya Sarabhai, said: “I was on my way to becoming a great tragic actress. Actress Ayesha Jhulka, who plays Pallavi in the soon to be released webseries ‘Happy Family: Conditions Apply’, has a comic side to her personality and it’s the prime reason she chose to say yes to the project.
The series revolves around a joint family of four generations, which are divided by their divergent eccentric personalities but are united by their bonding with each other, and how their differences often lead to hilarious situations.
Talking about doing a comedy and playing both a ‘saas’ (mother-in-law) and a ‘bahu (daughter-in-law), the actress said, “After back to back serious shows, it felt great to do a comedy. I just felt that Happy Family: Conditions Apply was a very welcoming change in my life. In real life I’m quite a comic character and I like my life to be lighter in all aspects. Hence, I thought this is a very interesting character and I should do it.

On the afternoon of June 13, 1997, a fire caused by an improperly maintained transformer broke out in Delhi’s Uphaar Cinema, quietly fumigating an auditorium packed for a first-day screening of flagwaving blockbuster “Border” with carbon monoxide before plunging the room into darkness.
Those scrambling for the exits found multiple code violations standing between them and survival; the balcony doors had been padlocked from the outside to prevent late entry. 59 cinemagoers never saw the light again; over 100 were injured.
“It wasn’t a cinema hall, it was a crematorium,” notes one official in “Trial by Fire,” a necessarily sorrowful but forcefully compelling seven-part dramatization of the blaze and its aftermath, which represents one of Netflix India’s strongest miniseries to date.
At its centre are Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy (Rajshri Deshpande and Abhay Deol), a representative middle-class couple who are introduced as they wave their son Ujjwal (Abhishek Sharrma) and daughter...

Trial By Fire
Directed by Prashant Nair, Randeep Jha, Avani Nair
This is not a series. It is a piece of history regurgitated into a meticulously re-designed eyewitness account of what happened on 13 June 1997 when Delhi’s Uphaar cinema went up in flames extinguishing the joy and wellbeing of several families who lost their near and dear ones in the tragedy.
This series recreates the long and endless legal battle of a couple Shekhar and Neelam Krishnamoorthy who lost both children in the Uphaar cinema fire while watching J P Dutta’s Border.
The battle is long. But the couple’s patience, especially Neelam’s , is unlimited. This is the story of resilience determination and obstinacy , so real so tangible you can feel the pain of the couple every step along their painful battle. It won’t be wrong to say the couple fought their own war as fiercely as the soldiers seen in Border.

Trial by Fire is a Netflix miniseries directed by Prashant Nair and Randeep Jha starring Abhay Deol, Rajshri Deshpande and Ashish Vidyarthi. Based on a book by Shekhar Krishnamoorthy.
Trial by Fire is a traditional series in which some parents seek justice and try to find the guilty party to, in some way “return” their lost children.
A clear premise that because of its choice, leads us, undoubtedly, to a portrait about justice and a denouncement of its mechanisms, also political and social around red tape and organization of a country, India in this case, and its problems.
Valued fairly, this is a series which seeks the “denouncement” more than a cinematographic approach. Some characters that are “parents” like any other “parent” in a tragedy that has happened as a singular case but could be considered a generalized problem, systemic if you wish.
