The four-day fest is set for October 10th-13th at Discovery Park in Sacramento, California.

Some cliche somewhere said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. “Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net” is the outlet for that passion. In this column, I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That’s the aim. While Paul McCartney is best known by his real name, the Beatles legend has used many pseudonyms throughout his career. Early in their careers, The Beatles members thought performing using stage names would be fun. They discontinued the names, but Paul McCartney’s fake name inspired became the inspiration for The Ramones.
Paul McCartney once performed under the name Paul Ramon Paul McCartney | David Wolff – Patrick/Redferns
In the early days of The Beatles, they were known as the Silver Beetles. The band consisted of McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, Thomas Moore, and Stu Sutcliffe. Ringo Starr joined the group in 1962 and became their permanent drummer. In 1960, the group went on a tour of Scotland with Johnny Gentle. Inspired by Gentle’s stage name, the band created pseudonyms for themselves, trying to sound more like rock stars. McCartney decided to use Paul Ramon as his name for the tour.

Yo La Tengo celebrated the fourth night of Hanukkah — and the midpoint of their annual Bowery Ballroom residency marking the Festival of Lights — with an encore entirely dedicated to the Ramones, featuring the punk legends’ longtime drummer Marky Ramone.
The indie rock trio hinted at what was to come Wednesday when they opened their Night Four gig with their instrumental rendition of “Blitzkrieg Bop.” For the encore, Yo La Tengo whipped out five Ramones classics — “Rockaway Beach,” “I Can’t Make It on Time,” “I Wanna Be Sedated,” “Loudmouth” and “Sheena Is a Punk Rocker,...

Altitude has picked up international sales and UK and Irish distribution rights to Mad About the Boy — The Noël Coward Story, a feature documentary about the life of Noël Coward from Barnaby Thompson (St. Trinian’s).
The doc is billed as an exploration of Coward’s expansive career which features credits across the stage and screen, including Brief Encounter, Blithe Spirit, and Private Lives.
Adam Lambert will sing the film’s theme song, an updated cover of Coward’s 1930’s single Mad About The Boy, which will be released on 7 October. The song was produced by Amanda Ghost and Johnny Coffer.
“Noël Coward was a fascinating character. He invented the modern Englishman – witty, sophisticated, and stylish – but was born poor and left school when he was 9,” Thompson said. “He was a sex symbol who was queer in a very straight world and he was exiled from the country he came to define.

Joey Ramone died 20 years ago, on April 15th, 2001, and Netflix marked the occasion on Thursday by announcing that Pete Davidson will play the punk icon in a biopic. It will be based on I Slept With Joey Ramone, a 2009 book by his brother, Mickey Leigh.
Davidson may be three inches shorter than the 6-foot-6 Ramones lead singer, but he has a similar body frame, and side-by-side photos provided by Netflix do make the case that he’ll be able to pull off the role once he’s given a wig...

Beach Boys singer Mike Love celebrates a familiar locale on his breezy new song “California Beach.” Over stacked vocal harmonies, acoustic strums and bright keys, the frontman romanticizes a scene “where surfers and surfing, and dancers are dancing.”

It’s been a little over a month since John Lydon (aka the Sex Pistols’ Johnny Rotten) lit into Marky Ramone, Henry Rollins and a murderers’ row of underground-music legends at an L.A. panel about punk music. “Hello, Johnny Rotten never did the walk?” he bellowed when Ramone suggested he didn’t “walk the walk” like the MC5. The Pistol then got up and strutted around in front of the audience. Although it seemed contentious and over the top at the time, Lydon says everyone failed to see the humor in it.

At the Sir Studio in West Hollywood Monday night, a panel discussion of punk-rock icons devolved into filth and fury — what better way to honor the Epix network’s new docuseries, Punk, which premieres on March 11th? At the heart of the disruption was John Lydon (a.k.a. Johnny Rotten). The Sex Pistol sparred with Marky Ramone and Henry Rollins while the genre’s other icons watched with smirks and wide eyes.
The conversation took place after a screening, and the Justice League of punk trailblazers aligned in front of the screen.

By the summer of 1987, Richard “Richie Ramone” Reinhardt had had enough of the Ramones. The New York punk group hired him as their drummer in 1983 when Marky Ramone’s drinking problem became a massive liability, but after a grueling four years of touring, recording and even singing lead on a few songs he felt completely under-appreciated by his bandmates.

The Ramones' Road To Ruin turns 40 with a previously unreleased music video and a reissue to prove it.
Some fans think The Ramones reached their peak with their fourth album, Road to Ruin, which turns 40 today. Released on September 21, 1978 through Sire Records, it followed Rocket to Russia, which saw a drop off in album sales, pushing Tommy Ramone to put more time into production. Bassist Dee Dee Ramone snagged the drummer from Richard Hell and the Voidoids, Marc Bell and rechristened him Marky Ramone, leaving Tommy to produce the album with Ed Stasium, with a nod to the Phil Spector sound. With the single "I Wanna Be Sedated" as a lead-off, Road to Ruin was considered Billboard-ready. But it only hit 103 on the charts, 50 notches down from the last record. The Ramones recently dropped a deluxe reissue of the album and found a previously unreleased video...

As I mentioned way back on this post from 2008, as much as I’ve tried to branch out, my tastes are pretty narrow when it comes to reading material.
I’d love to say that I’m broadly well-read when it comes to the more celebrated books of the day, but it’s just not true. If you’re looking to engage in a discussion about today’s most incisive fiction, you’re much better off speaking with my wife (who works in publishing) than one such as I. Truthfully, I’ve pretty much lost my taste for fiction almost entirely. Unless I have some vested interest (like, say, I know the author or it’s about something near and dear to me), I usually cannot muster up the interest to crack the binding.
As a result, whenever I’m perusing through the aisles of a bookstore (when I can still find one,...

Killogy is an ambitious animated post-apocalyptic crime series produced by The Boondocks producer Rodney Barnes. The first teaser has hit the web and I think it looks like a complete blast.
Killogy is based on the Idw comic created by Alan Robert and features the voices of Frank Vincent (The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (The Ramones), Brea Grant (Dexter) and Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein (The Misfits).
Synopsis:
Killogy finds Sally Sno-Cones (Vincent), Summer Rhoades (Grant) and Cole Edwards (Ramone) locked in a prison cell, accused of murder — just as the world is being overrun by a zombie apocalypse. The trailer shows the rag-tag gang taking on a disembodied undead head, and a reawakened voodoo curse flooding the streets of New York with blood.

It is an event that draws in crowds from all over the world and features many individuals and companies showing off their latest products in the hopes that those who come to the convention will purchase whatever they’re selling. Frank centers on an eccentric band, giving Fassy fans a chance to hear the Oscar-nominated actor sing, albeit from behind a mask (he’s not bad, actually).

Hard to believe that The Rolling Stones, half of The Beatles and The Who, and a dozen more bands that started a full decade before The Ramones (1974) have outlived them, and in many cases are still touring. They were one of my favorite punk bands ever... and with the recent death of Tommy Ramone (nee Thomas Erdelyi), all four original members of one of New York's finest bands ever, we are not "glad to see you go." The first three -- lead singer Joey (nee Jeffrey Hyman, died 2001), bass player Dee Dee (nee Douglas Colvin, died 2002), and guitarist Johnny (nee John Cummings, died 2004) -- all died only within six years after calling it quits.
They did not go gently into the night. Their off-stage dramas kept them from maintaining their once shared friendships.
Ironic isn't it? The original Ramones, the guys from "Rockaway Beach" that wanted to be sedated, are all gone.

Sometimes it doesn't take much to sell me on a premise. Killogy is one of those, where the notion of three over-the-top criminals squaring off against voodoo magic is too good to resist.
You may already be familiar with Killogy, an Idw comic by Alan Roberts that mixes horror and comedy into a concoction of splatstick madness. Featuring the likenesses of Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, "The Sopranos"), Marky Ramone (formerly of The Ramones) and Brea Grant ("Dexter"), it seems like a no-brainer that this could translate quite easily into some kind of show or movie.
Enter "The Boondocks" creator Rodney Barnes, who will do exactly that. Deadline reports that both Barnes and Roberts will serve as executive producers on a Killogy animated series, which will see Vincent, Ramone and Grant lending their vocal talents to the proceedings.

Rodney Barnes (The Boondocks, Everybody Hates Chris) is partnering with comics creator Alan Robert to develop an animated TV series based on Robert’s hit graphic novel Killogy. The horror/comedy from Idw Publishing tells the story of a group of murderers who inadvertently unleash an ancient voodoo curse upon New York. Barnes and Robert will serve as executive producers, with Barnes penning the screenplay for the pilot. Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, Casino, The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (the Ramones) and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter), who all appeared as main characters in the novel will lend their voices to the show. Producers Chris White (My Super Psycho Sweet 16 franchise) and Jeff Mazzola (Descent) are also on board. The Killogy graphic novel was recently licensed out to territories outside of the U.S. and will see a Brazilian release this summer from publisher NFL Zine.

WikiLeaks founder to judge films at the 21st Raindance Film Festival; 2013 line-up unveiled.Scroll down for full line-up of films
Julian Assange has joined the jury of the 21st Raindance Film Festival (Sept 25 - Oct 6), a London-based event that celebrates independent film in the UK and around the world.
The appointment is a controversial one. The Australian editor-in-chief and founder of WikiLeaks took refuge in the Ecuadorean embassy in London in June 2012 to avoid extradition to Sweden, where he is wanted for questioning about sexual assault allegations.
It is understood that he fears Sweden would extradite him to the Us, where he believes he is wanted in relation to WikiLeaks’ disclosure of a significant amount of classified Us military and diplomatic documents.
Commenting on Assange’s appointment, Raindance founder Elliot Grove said: “Every year Raindance invites interesting people to join our jury. In the past we have had musicians like Mick Jones, Marky Ramone and [link...

Life of Agony bassist Alan Robert is gearing up to release his third original series, Killogy. The comic sees three jailed murderers (based on the likenesses of Goodfellas' Frank Vincent, Marky Ramone and actress/author Brea Grant) and their trek through the zombie apocalypse. The clip, which is light years ahead of most book trailers, shows something colorful, bloody and brash coming from Idw this Halloween.

Ever heard of a comic that uses real-life celebrities as the inspiration for its characters? That's exactly what you'll find in Alan Robert's Killogy, an off-the-wall, genre-busting mash-up of crime, dark comedy, and horror that throws three murderers into one prison cell together.
Written and illustrated by Robert (an accomplished horror comic creator, writer, illustrator, and musician), this original, four-issue mini-series kicks off in October 2012 from award-winning comics publisher Idw Publishing. Robert, creator of the hit series Crawl to Me and bassist for Life of Agony, based his characters on the likenesses of celebrities Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, Raging Bull, "The Sopranos"), Marky Ramone (formerly of The Ramones), and Brea Grant ("Heroes", "Dexter"). He explains, "I had specific ideas on what these characters should look like, and I’d constantly find myself comparing them to the stars we ended up approaching. I thought it would be a complete long shot to get them involved,...
