Franco Harris, the Hall of Fame running back who made “the Immaculate Reception” — voted the NFL’s greatest play of all time — and won four Super Bowls with the Pittsburgh Steelers, died early Wednesday. He was 72. His son told the Associated Press that Harris died overnight but did not give other details.
Fifty years ago this week, Harris was a rookie when he caught “The Immaculate Reception” in a playoff game against the Oakland Raiders. Pittsburgh was trailing 7-6 with time running out when quarterback Terry Bradshaw’s desperation pass deflected off either Steelers receiver Frenchy Fuqua and/or Raiders defender Jack Tatum. Harris caught the ball inches from the ground and scampered more than 40 yards down the sideline for a touchdown as time wound down.

Four episodes of 30 Rock will be removed from subscription streaming services, purchase platforms, and will no longer air on traditional TV, according to Deadline. The episodes were pulled at the request of NBCUniversal and 30 Rock executive producers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. The episodes will be taken down this week.
“As we strive to do the work and do better in regards to race in America, we believe that these episodes featuring actors in race-changing makeup are best taken out of circulation,” Fey wrote in a statement. “I understand now that ‘intent’ is not a free pass for white people to use these images. I apologize for pain they have caused. Going forward, no comedy-loving kid needs to stumble on these tropes and be stung by their ugliness. I thank NBCUniversal for honoring this request.”

The 17-year tenure of UCLA athletic director Dan Guerrero will end in June, as the Uc Regents approved a six-month extension of his contract, which was set to expire in December.
Guerrero’s decision means the two major universities in Los Angeles are looking for athletic directors. Earlier this month, the University of Southern California’s Lynn Swann resigned as director of athletics. He leaves after a three-year stint marked by the admissions scandal that ensnared actress Lori Loughlin.
For UCLA, Guererro said in a statement that a recent bout with cancer and the birth of a second grandchild led to his retirement.
“For these reasons, it is time for me to step aside and for UCLA athletics to flourish under new leadership while I focus on my health and on my family,” Guerrero said in the statement. “In the remaining year ahead, we still have a great deal of...

The widow of famed actor/dancer Gene Kelly has leaped into the fray regarding Lara Spencer’s comments on ballet.
Patricia Ward Kelly responded in an open letter after Spencer, the Good Morning America host, mocked young Prince George over his ballet lessons, holding back laughter at the prospect of the six-year-old dancing.
“In 1958, my late husband, the dancer, director, choreographer Gene Kelly, decided to take on the stigma facing male dancers in an Omnibus television program for NBC that he created and starred in called Dancing, A Man’s Game,” wrote Ward Kelly. “Gene would be devastated to know that 61 years after his ground-breaking work, the issue of boys and men dancing is still the subject of ridicule—and on a national network,.” She concluded: “ABC must do better.”

University of Southern California athletic director Lynn Swann is facing calls to step down in the wake of a college admissions bribery scandal that has ensnared several people from his department, as well as actresses Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin.
Swann said he first learned of the bribery problems on Friday from an early morning phone call. The administrator on the line told him that senior associate athletic director Donna Heinel had been taken into custody in connection with the case, which alleges various racketeering and bribery charges in connection with attempts to get various students into select colleges, including USC.
Some of the students were allegedly presented as athletic recruits in various Olympic sports. Among the teams used in the scandal were USC’s men’s and women’s water polo. Coach Jovan Vavic, who allegedly received $250,000 in bribes as part of the plots, was arrested in Honolulu and...

The University of Southern California has decided to keep Clay Helton as its football coach, ignoring his 5-7 record this year, including a loss to arch-rival UCLA.
Helton presided over the Trojans’ first losing season since 2000, but USC athletic director Lynn Swann said today he will be back. He may have been swayed by USC’s superior effort in a narrow loss to undefeated Notre Dame.
Many boosters and fans were clamoring for a coaching change, but Helton owns a contract extension through 2023, granted just nine months ago. Overall, Helton is 32-17 at USC, his first head coaching job.
The Trojans won the Rose Bowl two seasons ago and topped the Pac-12 last season. This year it lost five of its final six games.
“I am a strong advocate of consistency within a program, sticking by a leader, supporting them and helping them and their team improve,” Swann said in a statement.

[[tmz:video id="0_ybq78l8v"]] Wanna see Terry Bradshaw scramble like he's dodging a linebacker in the pocket?? Just ask him who the better reciever is -- Antonio Brown or Lynn Swann?? That's exactly what happened when talking to TooFab in L.A. Wednesday night ... when one of the greatest Steelers of all time was pressed with what seems like an impossible question. Terry obviously knows firsthand how great of a receiver Swann is -- after all, they won 4 Super...

Chicago – From the 1950s to the early 2000s, Fred Rogers found new and innovative ways to educate, entertain and enrich the lives of children around the world. He never talked down to his viewers on “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” he held conversations with them. His compassionate care for his audience was not faked for the cameras. He was one of the nicest people ever to be involved in show business.
Few people knew Fred Rogers better than David Newell, who spent over three decades playing Rogers’ speedy delivery man, Mr. McFeely. The character’s original name, Mr. McCurdy, was a direct reference to William F. McCurdy, the president of the Sears-Roebuck Foundation, which underwrote the program for many years. During his presentation at April’s C2E2 convention, Newell said that Chicago was, in many ways, the salvation of “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” and has consistently proven to be one of the program’s biggest supporters.

To Kill A Mockingbird 50th Anniversary Edition (Universal) Robert Mulligan’s film of Harper Lee’s landmark novel pits a liberal-minded lawyer (Gregory Peck) against a small Southern town’s racism when defending a black man (Brock Peters) on trumped-up rape charges. One of the 1960s’ first landmark films, a truly stirring human drama that hits all the right notes and isn’t dated a bit. Robert Duvall makes his screen debut (sans dialogue) as the enigmatic Boo Radley. DVD and Blu-ray double edition. Bonuses: Two feature-length documentaries: Fearful Symmetry and A Conversation with Gregory Peck; Featurettes; Excerpts and film clips from Gregory Peck’s Oscar acceptance speech and AFI Lifetime Achievement Award; Commentary by Mulligan and producer Alan J. This was a really fun and almost heartwarming holiday - oh, sorry, Jack, I mean Christmas - episode of 30 Rock.
Like the title state, "Christmas Attack Zone" was mainly focused on Jack's plan to attack his own mother on December 25.
Like I said last week, I enjoy stories about Jack's father issues more than those about his mother issues because I cannot stand Colleen Donaghy. But at least she did come through with one line this week, wanting the scholarship at Jack's graduation to go to "the other boy!"
The entire A plot turned out great, in spite of Colleen, mostly because there was a minimal amount of Liz complaining - and a lot of great one liners by Alan Alda.
Milton Greene was just on fire this week, with everything from the cover of his new book to mentioning that his son's name is Spiderman because he lets his kids name themselves.

Yes, two cross-dressing "black swans!"...

St. Paul, Minn. -- In TV news, you never get to see microphone switches. But in "The Strategy Room," it's a part of the charm.
In the center of Fox News Channel's newsroom-in-a-tent across from the Republican National Convention, there was another lighter, more nimble news channel that was being produced for the Web alongside the likes of "The Fox Report" and "Special Report."
