Eli Roth’s slasher Thanksgiving is now available on DVD and Blu-ray, and fans of the film will be happy to hear that a sequel is already on the way. Sony’s TriStar plans on releasing Thanksgiving 2 in theaters worldwide in 2025, we learned late last year. Eli Roth and Jeff Rendell are back to write the screenplay for the upcoming sequel.
“We’re gonna take a year off so we can really, really write a great script. We want to outdo ourselves. Make it better than the first one,” Roth teased back in November.
So what can we expect from Thanksgiving 2? Will it be a direct sequel to the first film, following the surviving characters? Or will Roth pivot to a new slasher story entirely?
Well, chatting with Games Radar this week, Thanksgiving stars Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman both strongly suggest they’ll be back in Roth’s upcoming sequel.

Sixteen years passed from the time Eli Roth made a slasher faux trailer called Thanksgiving for the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse to the day when a feature version of Thanksgiving (read our review Here) finally made its way into theatres – and the fact that we’re being rewarded for our patience with not just that movie, but also a sequel that’s expected to reach theatres sometime in 2025 is truly something to be thankful about. Now Thanksgiving cast members Nell Verlaque and Rick Hoffman have confirmed to Games Radar that they are going to be coming back for Thanksgiving 2!
When asked if she’ll be in the sequel Roth is crafting with Thanksgiving co-writer Jeff Rendell, Verlaque said, “To my knowledge, yes. I think that it’ll be a continuation of where we last saw (her character). So we’ll see. But right now, I think so.

Sony is bringing Eli Roth’s long-awaited slasher Thanksgiving (read our review Here, check out our interview with Roth at This Link) back to theatre screens, and they’re not waiting for the Thanksgiving holiday to do it. With the Thanksgiving holiday very much in the rearview at this point, TriStar Pictures has made the decision to bring Eli Roth’s slasher Thanksgiving back to theaters this weekend.
Why, you ask? Is it an attempt to drum up interest in the sequel that’s headed our way? Or does TriStar just really, really want the movie to hit $50 million worldwide at the box office?
The likely reason for the post-holiday season re-release is that Roth’s Thanksgiving comes to DVD and Blu-ray on January 30, so a return to theaters could help drum up some additional interest in that physical media release. The film has thus far slashed its way into $31.8 million domestically and $46 million worldwide, so we’ll see how much it gains this weekend.
The film will be playing in a reported 511 theaters across the country this weekend. If you missed it last year on the big screen and regretted it,...

The Golden Globes are dubbed the “party of the year,” and with every great event in Tinseltown, there’s typically a long wind up and a ton of ancillary shindigs. But 2024 is a new year and Hollywood is not the same place it once was.
On Friday evening, however, the scene outside Chateau Marmont mirrored pre-pandemic days. A huge crowd of fans packed onto the slim sidewalk above Sunset Boulevard. Paparazzi scrambled to get pics of Margot Robbie, Greta Gerwig, Nicolas Cage and Emma Stone as they exited their respective SUVs and headed upstairs for cameos at W Magazine’s annual best performances party in the hotel’s disco ball-decorated penthouse. Chateau’s chic gatekeeper Anya Varda was overheard exhaling, “they hate me,” in reference to the paps or the fans, but either could be true.

Eli Roth’s gory and twisted slasher Thanksgiving is yours to own on DVD and Blu-Ray next month. More details here:
Thanksgiving was one of the bigger surprises of 2023, especially after an uneven year of horror films. Released relatively late in the year, Thanksgiving was met with a lot of positive buzz, including from us.
We wrote in our review that “Thanksgiving is probably the best no-budget, straight-to-streaming, goofy horror flick you’ve ever seen – except it’s distributed by a major studio.”
Thanksgiving follows a town terrorised by a serial killer in a pilgrim costume. Patrick Dempsey, Nell Verlaque, Addison Rae, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Milo Manheim and Rick Hoffman star.
Well, if you missed Roth’s gloriously gory film in the cinemas or you’re just a big fan of physical media, you can buy the disc version of Thanksgiving very soon. The film is due to be released...

What’s Good: The movie presents a number of very gruesome and often funny murder scenes that will leave you laughing out loud.
What’s Bad: The characters are paper-thin, and the villain’s motivations are just as dumb.

In this week’s cinematic lineup, viewers can anticipate a diverse range of releases, from the festive cheer of “Merry Little Batman” to the suspenseful drama of “Leave the World Behind” and the heart-stopping, horror-inducing narrative of “Thanksgiving.” However, it’s worth noting a somewhat unexpected scarcity of Christmas-focused movies in this listicle. Whether you’re in the mood for laughter, adrenaline-pumping action, spine-chilling thrills, or heartwarming moments, this listicle unveils a cinematic smorgasbord that goes beyond the anticipated Christmas movie lineup.

Moriah Elizabeth is rolling out another product inspired by her crafty YouTube videos. The DIY creator has joined forces with Bonkers Toys to debut a line of plushies at Walmart.
Elizabeth, who counts 9.5 million subscribers on her primary YouTube channel, is known for her “makeover” videos, in which she redesigns toys and gives them fresh color schemes. Those clips typically feature “ugly, used, old, dirty, cheap, or unwanted” squishy toys, which are donated by Elizabeth’s fans. Each squishy makeover takes hours of hard work, but the resulting videos post seven-digit view counts.
With her new product line, Elizabeth is bringing more plushies into the world — but these ones won’t be as scruffy as the toys she remodels on her channel. Her team-up with Bonkers Toys has produced the Moriah Elizabeth 6″ Mystery Plush Series 1, which comes concealed in blind packaging. Buyers won’t know which plushie they’ve received until they open the box.

John Carver will kill again! Director Eli Roth has confirmed that his recent slasher hit "Thanksgiving" is indeed getting a sequel. Sony Pictures went ahead and made it official, with the follow-up expected to hit theaters sometime in 2025. Roth took to Instagram to personally share the news with his fans in a brief video, expressing his gratitude to everyone who made the first film a success.

Plot details remain under wraps, but (and not to spoil anything) the ending of the first film was just ambiguous enough to leave the door open for a follow-up. No word yet on who, if any, of the cast members from the first film will return for "Thanksgiving 2." Roth also said in the video that the sequel will arrive in 2025 "probably around Thanksgiving," although a firm release date has not yet been set.

A lot of genre fans had been waiting sixteen years to see director Eli Roth’s holiday slasher Thanksgiving (read our review Here), ever since he contributed a faux trailer for the concept to the Robert Rodriguez / Quentin Tarantino double feature Grindhouse back in 2007. The movie hasn’t exactly done massive numbers since reaching theatres a week and a half ago; so far it has racked up just over $30 million at the global box office. But that’s enough to get Sony’s TriStar Pictures to greenlight a sequel! Roth took to social media to announce that Thanksgiving 2 is a go, and he’ll be returning to the helm for this follow-up! Roth’s announcement can be seen at the bottom of this article.

Eli Roth is returning to the Thanksgiving table. The filmmaker is developing a sequel to his horror feature, which bowed earlier this month and has grossed more than $30 million globally. It stands as Roth’s best reviewed movie as a director.
Sony’s Tristar plans on releasing the sequel in 2025.
The first Thanksgiving began life as a fake trailer in Robert Rodriguez’s and Quentin Tarantino’s Grindhouse, released in 2007.
“We thought, ‘All right, we’re done. We made the best parts [in the fake trailer]. Now we don’t even have to make the movie,’” Roth previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “But for years, people just kept posting that trailer and badgering me and guilt tripping me, and it worked. Shaming the director worked in this case.”
Roth penned the script with Jeff Rendell, his childhood friend. The first installment starred Patrick Dempsey, Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, Jalen Thomas Brooks, Nell Verlaque, with Rick Hoffman,...

Director Eli Roth is returning for seconds of “Thanksgiving.” He’s cooking up a sequel to his holiday-themed slasher film, with the follow-up set to open theatrically in 2025. It’s unclear which — if any — any cast members will be back.
“Beeaking News! John Carver will kill again!” the director captioned a video on Instagram, referring to the film’s villain. “Thank you everyone who supported Original Horror in theaters!!! Go see it now on the big screen while it’s in cinemas, sequel set for release in 2025! Taking a year to really get the script right, working on it starting today!”

Certified Fresh at 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, the film is Roth’s highest rated film to date. TriStar Pictures will release the sequel theatrically worldwide in 2025.

Addison Rae Easterling‘s latest acting role comes in a holiday-themed horror movie. The TikTok star and Gen Z icon has a supporting role in Thanksgiving, a new film from director Eli Roth.
Thanksgiving is a slasher film that takes place against the backdrop of Black Friday sales. Easterling portrays Gabby, a popular girl who is best friends with the protagonist Jessica (played by Nell Verlaque). Based on the movie’s trailer, I wouldn’t bet on Gabby to make it through Thanksgiving alive.
Thanksgiving began as a fake trailer that played during the 2007 double feature Grindhouse. More than 15 years later, Roth brought a full version of the movie to theaters. Thanksgiving has received generally favorable reviews, with critic Jeremy Jahns describing it as “a really fun, bloody slasher flick.”
