Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis indicted Donald Trump and 18 of his allies last month for conspiring to overturn the Georgia’s 2020 presidential election results. The special grand jury Willis empaneled to investigate the scheme wanted charges brought against several other individuals, a report filed Friday revealed, including Sen. Lindsey Graham.
Graham is one of three Republican senators the grand jury wanted brought up on charges for the effort to overturn the election. It also recommended indicting former Sens. David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler, both of Georgia. Graham responded to...

Raphael Warnock has defeated Herschel Walker in a runoff election to determine who will represent Georgia in the U.S. Senate.
The incumbent Democrat was leading with Democratic areas still to report when the race was called Tuesday night. Warnock bested Walker by just under a percentage point during the general election last month, but didn’t cross the 50-percent threshold needed to avoid a runoff. His victory means Democrats will hold a 51-49 advantage in the Senate, expanding their slim majority in midterm elections that were projected to favor Republicans.

Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-ga) was projected to win election to a full Senate term on Tuesday, defeating football star Herschel Walker in a runoff that was the final chapter of the midterms.
Warnock’s victory will give Democrats a 51-49 margin in the Senate, a one-seat gain that gives the party a clear majority.
Walker’s defeat was another loss for a Donald Trump-endorsed candidate, as the former president thrown his backing behind the sports celebrity despite his lack of experience in the political realm and personal baggage from past relationships.
News networks CNN and MSNBC spent hours analyzing the runoff results, with each candidate flipping back and forth in the lead several times. Fox News also covered the results, but as part of their regular primetime lineup.
“After a hard-fought campaign, you got me for six more years,” Warnock told a room of cheering supporters after Walker conceded the race.

Less than three months after its public debut, the “anti-woke” banking startup GloriFi is canceling itself.
The company has laid off employees and informed them the end is nigh, via an email from Chief Marketing Officer Cathy Landtrop obtained by the Wall Street Journal. Landroop cited “financial challenges related to startup mistakes, the failing economy, reputational attacks, and multiple negative stories,” as reasons for the downfall.

It’s déjà vu in the Peach State.
Just like in 2021, the Georgia Senate race is headed for a runoff that could decide who controls the upper chamber.
With neither incumbent Raphael Warnock nor Republican challenger Herschel Walker topping 50 of the vote in the state, the duo will face off again December 6. The runoff is a result of Georgia state law that demands a winning candidate garner more than 50 of the vote. Presently, Warnock has pulled in 49.4 to Walker’s 48.5 with 96 of the vote tallied, according to the AP.
After a long night Tuesday of counting votes in the increasingly purple state, CNN, NBC and various networks and outlets this morning projected an inevitable runoff.
Gabriel Sterling, COO of the Georgia Secretary of State’s office, told CNN on Wednesday morning “the clock’s already up in our office, we’re 27 days and six hours away from polls closing on the runoff election day.

The bare-knuckle brawl for Georgia’s Senate seat is headed to round two. With nearly all of the vote in, neither Sen. Raphael Warnock nor his challenger Herschel Walker will break the 50-percent threshold needed to avoid a runoff.
Warnock is closer — one half of a percentage point shy of the threshold at 49.4 percent, as of Wednesday morning — Walker, meanwhile, trails him by a little less than one percentage point, with 48.5 percent of the vote. The spoiler was libertarian candidate Chase Oliver, who siphoned off a little more than 2 percentage points.

Marjorie Taylor Greene was privately pressuring former Georgia Senator Kelly Loeffler to get on board with the effort to overturn the 2020 election, text messages obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reveal.
The leaked trove of texts show that before losing to current Georgia Sen. Raphael Warnock in a Jan. 5, 2021 runoff, Loeffler was repeatedly pressured by Republicans to join Trump’s efforts to manipulate the certification of Electoral College votes that would finalize President Joe Biden’s election.

“He told me he’s going to, and I think he will,” Donald Trump said today of Herschel Walker’s long-rumored bid for a U.S. Senate seat from Georgia in 2022.

He’s a patriot. He’s a very loyal person. They love him in Georgia, I’ll tell you.”

144 WNBA players arrived at Img Academy in Bradenton, Florida in the middle of last summer. It’s impossible to present an itemized list of how every last one of those athletes felt about playing during such a tumultuous time, but the new ESPN documentary “144” strives to capture the same mixture of resolve and openness that it recorded over the 12 weeks inside the bubble. The result is a portrait of a league that prioritized a unified message over competition, while still managing to let its players chart different paths.
“144” features conversations with players, coaches, team staff, and league officials, some conducted with hindsight, reflecting on the events of last year. High-profile stars like Breanna Stewart, A’ja Wilson, and Sue Bird offer their thoughts on the season, but there’s a wide cross-section of players shown balancing the demands of world-class athletic competition and maintaining a connection with their families. What...

Washington — There is one and only one person who would qualify as the star witness in the second impeachment trial of former president Donald Trump. That person is Mike Pence.
To call the former vice president a key figure in the events preceding and during the deadly January 6th insurrection would understate the matter. Pence amplified Trump during the president’s year-long campaign to undermine the integrity of the 2020 election, Pence remained in the executive branch during Trump’s post-election crusade to overturn the outcome, Pence presided over the Electoral College certification,...

Refresh for updates: A notable day for Americans, January 6th, 2021 was an emotional rollercoaster that kicked off with historic wins of the Georgia elections and later featured the dangerous riots surrounding the Electoral College Certification on Capitol Hill.
Like many Georgia residents, Hollywood figures rejoiced early Wednesday morning as Raphael Warnock declared victory over Republican incumbent Kelly Loeffler. Jon Ossoff won over opponent David Perdue later on Wednesday afternoon, handing Democrats control over the Senate.
Upon the success in the Georgia elections, a number of Hollywood stars and notable names – from Wanda Sykes to Mark Ruffalo to Kerry Washington, reveled in the results. Many praised Stacey Abramas for her efforts to mobilize voters to cast their ballots for Warnock and Ossoff, as she had previously done for the President-elect during the November 2020 election.

Updated: President Donald Trump slammed the news media once again as he rallied supporters at a demonstration outside the White House today, speaking just an hour before Congress is scheduled to begin a showdown over the certification of the 2020 presidential election.
“The media is the biggest problem we have,” Trump said in the opening moments of his address to a crowd of tens of thousands in the National Mall at the “Save America” rally. He once again falsely accused “the media” of helping to “rig” the election results in favor of his Democratic challenger, President-elect Joe Biden.
“We will never give up. We will never concede,” Trump said. The rally crowd at times chanted “USA! USA! USA!” After Trump used the vulgarity, the chant shifted to “Bullshit! Bullshit! Bullshit!”

Showbiz shares and the broad market rose sharply in the wake of what looks increasingly like a Democratic sweep in the Georgia Senate runoffs. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 hit intraday highs.
Only the tech-heavy Nasdaq wavered, falling sharply early the session before creeping out of the red. Apple remained off 1.5%, Facebook down 1.6% and Amazon lower by 0.8% in late-morning trade. Netflix was pulled down too, with shares off 2%. Market watchers cited jitter that the Dems might boost scrutiny of the sector, but also noted that these big growth stocks are high priced, having surged in a 2020 dominated by the global coronavirus pandemic.
Wednesday was a chance for others to shine with the Djia — up more than 500 points, or 1.7% — the S&P 500 and the Russell 2000 all higher with media stocks rising across the board from entertainment to broadcasters to cinema chains. They joined a rally in shares that...

Tyler Perry took to social media on Tuesday to announce he was forced to vote in person for the U.S. Senate runoff election in Georgia after his absentee ballot never showed up in the mail. The New York Times confirms Perry “hopped a flight from Wyoming to Georgia late Monday to vote in person” before polls opened January 5. The Georgia runoff election pits Democrats Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff against Republicans David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler. The outcome of the runoff election will determine the control of the U.S. Senate.

Tyler Perry flew back to Georgia after his absentee ballot failed to arrive in the mail, he tweeted on Monday.
The director, writer, producer and actor sent out a tweet on Monday asking if others also had problems receiving their absentee ballots for Georgia’s runoff Senate vote. He said he requested it in early December and it was supposedly delivered, though he did not receive it in the mail.
Voting rights activist Stacey Abrams, who is often credited for helping Democrats win Georgia in the 2020 election, responded to let Perry know that he could still vote in person if he hoped to have his vote counted. “Vote in person on Election Day!” she wrote. “Just tell the person at the check-in table that you wish to cancel your ballot & vote in person.”

Georgia’s tense Senate runoff will finally reach its conclusion on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and CNN will run dedicated coverage all day Tuesday, both on its cable channel and companion streaming apps.
Republican incumbents David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler are up against Democratic challengers Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff in a tight race that will decide the fate — and political leaning — of the Senate.
We should note it is possible that neither set of candidates will have enough of a lead by the end of the night to report a projected victory. Given the fact that they needed a runoff in the first place, and that Biden defeated Trump by less than 12,000 votes there, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if it’s too close to call at the end of the night.
CNN’s Alisyn Camerota and John Berman will kick off coverage with “New Day” at 7 a.m. Et, where...

Georgia’s Senate runoff races on Tuesday will determine control of the chamber, a hugely important vote that could determine the extent to which President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris can enact their agenda.
That fact has been top of mind as Democratic showbiz activists pour money and time into the races of Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock at a level greater than any recent runoff election. Although this typically is time for donor fatigue, recent weeks have seen a flurry of activity, including cast reunions of Elf, Hamilton and Veep. Outside groups like MeidasTouch.com quickly set their sights on the runoffs after the November election, and on Monday night, Alyssa Milano is headlining a national call-a-thon for the group Indivisible.

With the fate of his early years of his upcoming presidency hanging on snaring a majority in the Senate out of tomorrow’s duel runoffs in Georgia, Joe Biden ripped Donald Trump today at a rally in Atlanta.
“This administration has gotten off to a God-awful start,” the president-elect passionately told a somewhat socially distanced crowd in the Peach State metropolis of the response to the lethal coronavirus pandemic and the vaccine rollout. “The president spends more time whining and complaining than doing something about the problem,” Biden added as the former Celebrity Apprentice host tried to strongarm Georgia officials to award the state to him over the ex-vp.

Ahead of the Georgia runoff elections, Democratic Senate candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock and actress Kerry Washington discussed what is at stake in the January 5th election as part of Rolling Stone’s Georgia Talks series.
“We say all the time that elections have consequences. I have to say that after we witnessed 325,000 American deaths [due to Covid-19], to say that elections have consequences is a gross understatement. Elections are a matter of life and death,” Warnock said. “Tragically, we are seeing in real-time the difference that public policy makes, and the difference it...

That Dawn Porter’s “John Lewis: Good Trouble” is a documentary perfectly timed for the social and political climate of 2020 might seem like happy coincidence. Its subject is the late voting rights and racial justice leader and congressman from Georgia, a state that helped decide the presidential election and whose senate runoff races on Jan. 5 will single-handedly determine the trajectory of our democracy.
But if you ask Holly Gordon, chief impact officer of Participant, one of the film’s distributors, Porter’s drive to tell this story right now was no coincidence.
“The ethos inside the company is that we trust our artists to show us the way. I can’t believe we’re still surprised, but we’re constantly surprised how we end up with a slate of films that started production two, three, four years ago but hit at zeitgeist moments,” Gordon told IndieWire. “It feels like provenance,...

Kenya Harmon and Keynan Williams are cutting it up on a December afternoon at the Kayton Homes in Savannah, Georgia. Williams, a wiry man with big eyes, sits in a wicker chair with a sun-bleached cushion, cigarette in his hand, Miller High Life at his feet, dog staring quizzically out of the screen door behind him. A tinsel wreath, hanging from a railing outside the upstairs apartment, twinkles in the sun above them.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) wants to force a vote in the U.S. Senate on increasing Covid-19 relief checks from $600 to $2,000 per person. And he says he willing to hold up a massive defense-spending bill to get that vote.
The Senate is set to vote this week on whether to override President Donald Trump’s recent veto of the National Defense Authorization Act, an annual spending bill that funds the military. Trump had vetoed the Ndaa in late December because he said he didn’t like that it called for...

When Joe Biden held a drive-in rally in an amphitheater parking lot in Atlanta on October 27th — one week before the election — he made sure to welcome hip-hop culture. Election Day was near, and he was on the south side of the city, in an area that groomed hip-hop luminaries like Jermaine Dupri, OutKast, and Goodie Mob, and minutes from Clayton County, whose voters played a pivotal role in flipping the state from reliably red to unexpectedly blue and solidifying Biden’s victory over Donald Trump.

How one feels about Kelly Loeffler really depends on how they feel about the current way that politics are being run and whether or not they agree with everything that’s been happening in the US at this time. But if you don’t know that much about Kelly then it’s time to read up on the news a bit and realize that she is a staunch Trump supporter as well as a US senator that many people on the left would no doubt have a serious problem with due to her stance on various issues. Without getting into that, thankfully, it

Kelly Loeffler had been a senator for just a few weeks when she found herself at the pulpit of the Rev. Raphael Warnock’s church in Atlanta. He was only 10 days from entering the race for her senate seat, but she was still included as part of the speaking lineup for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day service at Ebenezer Baptist, where the civil-rights giant was once a pastor. Nearly a year later, Loeffler would call Ebenezer a place of “radical liberalism” during a debate with Warnock. But on that January day,...

Photo: Jon Ossoff Jon Ossoff’s Race for the Senate With the 2020 Presidential Election now decided—with President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris officially securing enough electors for the White House—despite continued and baseless allegations of voter fraud from President Donald Trump and his ardent supporters, all eyes are now cast toward the unprecedented double runoff for both of Georgia’s Senate seats. With the deadline for Georgia voter registration having now passed, both Democrats and Republicans are hopeful for large voter turnouts. Democrats need two more seats to tie the Senate at 50-50, at which point any deciding Senate vote would fall onto the vice president. Meanwhile, Republicans, who’ve enjoyed a Senate majority, are pushing just as hard to keep this from happening, imploring their supporters to reelect Sens. Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue, with President Donald Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and other Republicans...

Sienna Miller hopes her revelation in September that the late Chadwick Boseman gave her some of his salary to make sure she was paid fairly for “21 Bridges” will create change in Hollywood. “It should get people thinking,” Miller, who stars in writer-director Tara Miele’s new drama “Wander Darkly” with Diego Luna, tells me. “Just take a beat: What that guy did for that woman — what can I do now? Let’s have some more transparency, at least. Let’s be fair.”

Georgians are poised this January to decide the balance of power in the Senate and shape the trajectory of the Biden presidency in a pair of wildly competitive Senate runoff races. On Sunday night in Georgia, three of the four candidates running showed up to debate: Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler faced off against Democrat Rev. Raphael Warnock. In the other race, the Democratic candidate, Jon Ossoff, debated an empty lectern. Senior Georgia Sen. David Perdue, a Republican, sat this one out. Perdue had a bit of trouble the last time...

Georgia, through a combination of generous tax breaks and an impressive infrastructure, has spent the past 12 years transforming itself into the Hollywood of the South.
The numbers tell the remarkable story of how the state has become a vital outpost for movies and television. The entertainment industry has grown to a $9.5 billion business in Georgia, with 34 major film productions and 33 indies shot in the state in the 2017-18 fiscal year, up from three features and eight indies in fiscal year 2008-09, when the tax incentives for productions were introduced. Now after Joe Biden collected the state’s 16 electoral votes, besting Donald Trump by 12,670 votes and becoming the first Democratic presidential nominee to win Georgia since 1992, the question is, how has the surging entertainment business played a role in the state going blue?

A day after President Donald Trump said he would “certainly” leave the White House if the Electoral College casts its votes for President-elect Joe Biden, he offered a caveat on Twitter on Friday amid a flurry of posts that included retweeting Newsmax and Oann and even a BBC wildlife documentary clip. He also said he would travel to Georgia on the day of the state’s two Senate runoff elections.
The tweets came during a day Trump played golf at his Trump National in Northern Virginia, and Fox News Channel saying it has set a live telephone interview with him on Sunday’s Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo. The network, which has faced criticism from Trump both during the campaign and after the election, said he is expected to discuss the results of the election, Covid-19 vaccine developments and his decision to pardon Michael Flynn in the first one-on-one...

Hollywood Jumps In to Support Democrats in Georgia Senate Races: “There’s a New South That’s Rising”
For months, all eyes were on Nov. 3 as the deciding day of the U.S.’ political future. Now that day is Jan. 5, as two Georgia runoff elections will decide control of the Senate and how much President-elect Joe Biden will be able to accomplish at the start of his term.
Since no candidate surpassed the necessary 50 percent of the vote in order to secure the seat, Democrat Raphael Warnock will again face off with incumbent Republican Sen. Oscar-nominated screenwriter and The Comey Rule writer-director Billy Ray is urging WGA West members to mobilize through the guild’s political action committee to “rid the Senate” of GOP incumbents Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue in next month’s dual runoff races in Georgia.
Loeffler and Perdue “are fairly loathsome,” he said today in a mass email to the guild’s members. “Both are millionaires who have abused their office to enrich themselves illegally, using intel from a Senate Covid briefing last January to improve their stock portfolios while simultaneously telling their constituents that the pandemic was nothing to worry about. They have to go. And we have to do our part.”
The guild’s Pac endorsed their Democratic challengers, Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, in the general election, and is supporting them again in the runoff. Ray called them both “great Americans.”

As 2020 election results roll in, control of the Senate remains in the balance — and everything may all come down to Georgia.
The math is not complicated. In the current Senate, Republicans hold a three-seat advantage, 53-47. If Biden wins the presidency, as appears increasingly likely, Vice President Kamala Harris would sit as the Senate’s tie-breaker, and Democrats would need a net gain of three seats to control the chamber. (If Trump wins, Democrats would need to net four seats.)

Stacey Abrams discussed the triumphant culmination of her long fight to flip Georgia, as well as what’s at stake in the crucial Senate runoffs there, during an interview with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Monday, November 9th.
As Abrams recalled, her efforts began back in 2010 when, as the state’s Democratic leader, she set about building a voting infrastructure that focused on registration, recruiting and training staff, and ensuring the party was active in every county. Updated with Georgia results: A pair of races in Georgia will now determine the balance of power in the U.S. Senate after the race between Democratic challenger John Ossoff and GOP incumbent David Perdue was close enough to force a runoff.
They now join the other race, pitting Democrat Raphael Warnock and incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler, in a pair of run-off elections set to take place January 5. The current Associated Press count in the Senate is 48-48, with seats in Alaska and North Carolina looking to favor the GOP incumbents, meaning Democrats will need to win both run-offs to take the chamber.
Georgia hasn’t elected a Democrat to the Senate since Zell Miller in 2000. Loeffler was appointed to her spot in January after the retirement of three-term GOP senator Jonnny Isakson.
