A group of screenwriters including Eli Roth, Graham Yost and Amy Chozick have issued an open letter decrying the Writers Guild of America’s silence on last week’s Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel.
In the letter, posted to the blog site Medium, the screenwriters mention the statements already issued by other Hollywood guilds, including SAG-AFTRA and the directors’ guild.
“When it comes to taking a stand, the Writers Guild of America has always led by example,” the statement said. “When employers sought to exploit our work, the Guild bravely spoke up. When the BLM movement took flight, the Guild rightfully spoke up. When the #MeToo reckoning came and Hollywood needed to change, again the Guild spoke up. But when terrorists invaded Israel to murder, rape, and kidnap Jews… the Guild stayed silent. It remains the only major Hollywood union to do so.”

AnnaLynne McCord is sharing more about her mental health journey in the wake of her dissociative identity disorder diagnosis. In an interview with Good Morning America, the 90210 star recalled filming a season 2 scene for The CW series in which a teacher, played by Hal Ozsan, rapes her character Naomi. "My whole body like just went into panic mode as if I was living out my life on camera," McCord said. "These moments were coming to light through my work. I didn't understand anything about the mind or the brain at the time, I was just trying to do my job and I couldn't." McCord explained that though she had an intense emotional reaction around...

In “Infidel,” Jim Caviezel plays Christian blogger Doug Rawlins, who travels to Cairo to participate in a televised conference on religion. The Muslim host seeks commonalities between the two faiths. “We love Jesus Christ,” the man says, after which Doug pauses for a moment, weighing his words, before rejecting the figurative olive branch. “He is God,” Doug says. “And He wants to be your God.” The audience is stunned at Doug’s audacity. Less surprising to all parties, Doug is kidnapped from his hotel room by angry Muslims a few hours later.
The latest film from controversial writer-director Cyrus Nowrasteh (“The Path to 9/11”) actually opens with a forward glimpse of Doug facing a firing squad on a Tehran rooftop, so we know from the jump that his Cairo visit didn’t go well. "The days of Entebbe are long over..." An official trailer has debuted for a kidnapping thriller titled Infidel, from American filmmaker Cyrus Nowrasteh. Inspired by true events, the film was shot on location in the Middle East. An American man, played by Jim Caviezel, is kidnapped after a friend invites him to Cairo to speak out about recent militant uprisings. He is eventually taken to Iran and imprisoned on spying charges. His wife heads to Iran after hearing the news, determined to get him back since the government won't help. This also stars Claudia Karvan, Hal Ozsan, Stelio Savante, and Bijan Daneshmand. An important warning - this film is being released with D'Souza Media, a known extremist and dangerous propagandist who supports xenophobia and hate. It's obviously a true story anyway, but the film may have a hateful side. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Cyrus Nowrasteh's Infidel, direct...

Director Olivier Megaton is set to direct a sci-fi action film called The Champion. The movie is described by THR as being in the "vein of a futuristic Spartacus, Champion tells of a man falsely imprisoned for an act of terrorism who must battle through the prison’s gladiator program to regain his freedom."
Megaton has a solid resume of action films that include Taken 2, Taken 3, Transporter 2, and Colombiana. He will be directing the film from a script being written by actor-turned-scribe Hal Ozsan (Dawson’s Creek).
The Champion sounds like it could make for a really cool action film. Who doesn't like gladiator movies?!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a science-fiction stylised take on the Gladiator genre is in the works with the Taken sequels director Olivier Megaton. Brandishing the title, The Champion, the prospective film is being described as 'a futuristic Spartacus', depicting the ordeal of a man imprisoned for an act of terrorism he apparently didn’t commit and forced to participate in a type of gladiator arena that yields the possibility of winning his freedom.
It’s a familiar sounding story, recalling the various versions of the Roman Empire-era-set Spartacus story like the 1960 Kirk Douglas-starring classic and the iterations of the 2010-2013 Starz Spartacus television series like Blood And Sand, starring the late Andy Whitfield. This time of year most everyone in the film world is talking about Oscar contenders, movies like Boyhood, Birdman, and Selma, which get more press each week as awards season marches on. However, I'm here today to provide a recommendation for a film you likely haven't heard of, which you can check out right now on VOD. The film is called Layover, and it is an impressive high-concept drama that took me completely by surprise. The first outing from writer-director Joshua Caldwell, Layover is very much in the vein of Richard Linklater's Before trilogy. Driven not by traditional plot mechanics but by the characters we see on screen and the way they interact with the world around them, Caldwell's primarily French-language film centers on a Parisian woman named Simone (Nathalie Fay) as she navigates the city of Los Angeles for a night after her connecting flight to Singapore is cancelled.

As Richard Linklater has perhaps most famously shown, a lot can happen in one night. The hours between sunset and sunrise have inspired numerous filmmakers to tell stories about the drama, comedy, and romance that can unfold, and another tale of a nighttime connection has arrived with writer/director Joshua Caldwell's "Layover." Starring Nathalie Fay, Karl E. Landler, Bella Dayne, and Hal Ozsan, the story follows Simone, a young Parisian on the way to her wedding in Singapore, whose connecting flight in cancelled, forcing her to spend the night in Los Angeles. She heads into the city to meet a friend, but is soon left on her own downtown without a ride, where she meets a motorcyclist who takes her on an adventure that makes her question the future she has waiting for her. In the clip below, you witness the encounter that takes Simone through the streets of L.

This year, I’m not necessarily as excited for the start of the TV season as I usually am. Oh, sure there are some high points, of course, there always are. Mostly, though, I’m looking forward to returning shows more than I am to new ones, with only a few exceptions.
The major networks seem to want to get new comedies off the ground and I really wanted to like “Dads”. After all, the cast has the return of Martin Mull (who I’ve always thought was a dependable actor for those guys who seem to be the only ones with any common sense in a room full of hyper whackos), Giovanni Ribisi, and Seth Green. Usually, I find Seth Green hilarious, even if the rest of the material around him isn’t quite so funny. I watched the first episode. It should have appealed to me on a couple of levels.

There are probably only six people in the world who care about this. Luckily, three of them work at Zap2it.
James Van Der Beek stopped by the taping of tonight's "Dancing With the Stars" to promote his new show, "Don't Trust The B---- In Apartment 23," because cross-promotion is what ABC does best. Van Der Beek's wife wasn't able to join him because she's got a newborn at home, so he brought another date -- and our hearts sang when we spotted him.
"Bonus points for the DC fan who can tell me who I'm sitting next to at DWTS..." the Beek tweeted.
Duh. His plus-one was Hal Ozsan, who appeared in 14 episodes of "Dawson's Creek" over the course of the series' last two seasons. Ozsan played Todd Carr, a temperamental director who ended up taking Dawson under his wing and showing him the ropes of the film industry.

Geek Girl Navigating the World – Supernatural will top my list for a long, long time
I am kind of a TV junkie. I’ll admit that. There are several shows that I watch frequently and have a tendency to recommend to anyone who’ll hold still long enough to express even the barest hint of interest. There are also several shows that I have purchased in their entirety on DVD. For a long time, if I were asked what my favorite show was, I wouldn’t have been able to name one.
That all changed in 2005. I considered the WB to be a haven for soapy and fairly ridiculous teen-drama fair after they’d pretty much abolished and animation line-up that I’d loved to watch. There was a new show premiering, though, that looked promising. As a sci-fi/fantasy fan, the lack of anything to take the place of “The X-Files” was disconcerting.

Looks like agent Peter Burke is going to spend some time behind the cameras this season on the USA Network drama, "White Collar".
Tim DeKay, who plays FBI agent Burke, will be making his television directing debut with the episode, "Stealing Home," set to air February 2012. The episode, set around a "priceless stolen baseball," began shooting Tuesday in New York City, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
"It's interesting because I look at it from an actor's point of view," DeKay told The Hollywood Reporter last week. "It confirms my thought about always relying on the director when he or she gives me a note. To a degree, they perhaps know the moment a little better than I do as an actor because [they've] been with the script much longer."
In more "White Collar" news, Hal Ozsan (90210, Californication) will appear as Gordon Taylor, a thief from the U.K. Gordon came to Manhattan...

The “suit” is sitting in the chair, the director’s chair that is. White Collar star Tim DeKay will try his hand at directing and will helm the episode “Stealing Home” that is set to air in the middle of the second half of Season Three in February 2012. DeKay told The Hollywood Reporter that directing will be different because he’s coming from the actor’s point of view. ”It confirms my thought about always relying on the director when he or she gives me a note. To a degree, they perhaps know the moment a little better than I do as an actor because [they've] been with the script much longer.” We also find out that “Stealing Home” is an episode where a priceless baseball is stolen and Hal Ozsan (Californication, 90210) will guest-star as Gordon Taylor, a con artist from Great Britain who is assembling a super-team of con artists for his next big job.

In Groupie, we have one of the more recent efforts from director Mark L. Lester. If his name rings a bell with film buffs out there, it’s because he is also responsible for such classics as Stephen King’s Firestarter and Commando. However, I would suggest not popping Groupie into your DVD player expecting another future classic along those lines. Although this film does contain Lester touches that reminded me of certain elements in those films, thus bringing back a pleasant bit of my childhood for me, this is nevertheless… not quite the same.
Groupie tells us the story of a rock band called The Dark Knights that may or may not be cursed thanks to a horrible tragedy that we as viewers are witnesses to at the very start of the film. You see, The Dark Knights are apparently just as well known for their...

My DVD collection contains some oddities, to say the least. I have stuff ranging from all of the seasons of Due South to the most complete collection of Snoopy cartoons I can amalgamate given current releases (which is pretty darn shockingly complete, if I may say so myself). So it’s honestly not a surprise to find some strange or obscure movies in there.
I recently ordered a copy of the movie Groupie and watched it over the weekend. I’m going to have to admit that the main reason that I bought the movie is because it’s got Hal Ozsan in it. Since he is one of the actors I currently really dig, it was kind of a no brainer when I realized that it would be released on June 14th and it was relatively inexpensive.
I’m also going to admit that I’m pretty easily entertained.

From the director of Firestarter, Class of 1999, Showdown in Little Tokyo, and Commando comes Groupie, a psycho thriller about a psychopathic rock groupie terrorizing a popular rock band on their comeback tour.
Groupie marks the first time Mark L. Lester has stepped behind the camera since 2005's highly rated Syfy original Pterodactyl. Taryn Manning (Hustle & Flow) stars as a mysterious groupie that hooks up with a famous rock band named "The Dark Knights" looking to rise again on their comeback tour. As she insinuates herself more and more into their lives and career, the more death and mayhem follows.
Hal Ozsan ("90210") co-stars at the band's troubled lead singer, along with Betsy Rue (famously naked in My Bloody Valentine 3D) and the venerable Eric Roberts as the band's almost assuredly soon-to-be-dead manager. Michael Feifer (Dracula's Guest) and Randall Frakes (Hell Comes to Frogtown) are credited with the screenplay.

A few things are going down in the near future for "90210." A hip hop icon stops by, a new guy makes Naomi blue, and an old enemy makes her a prisoner.
The CW released the description and a sneak peek of the midseason return episode titled "Liars," airing Monday (Jan. 24), take a gander:
Naomi Is Taken Hostage By Her Rapist -- Naomi is taken hostage in her own home by an out-of-control Mr. Cannon (guest star Hal Ozsan) who also lures Silver (Jessica Stroup) into the situation. Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Dixon's cousin Emily (guest star Abbie Cobb, "Jonas") from Kansas comes to town for an extended visit, but Emily immediately gets on Annie's nerves. Dixon confronts Teddy (Trevor Donovan) about his kiss with Ian (guest star Kyle Riabko) and promises to keep his secret. "90210," you did it again. We loved Adrianna's men-deer, but we felt a bit bad for the little people playing the elves. We loved that Teddy has given into his crush on Ian, but we hate that Ivy got so much screen time. We hate Ivy, but we love that we were right about her deadbeat dad. We hate that there won't be any new episodes until Jan. 24, 2011, but we love to hate "90210" for the uh-mazing cliffhangers.
Teddy and Ian: We tend to agree with Ian (played by Kyle Riabko) that dating someone in the closet could be interpreted as a step back for someone who has been proudly out for several years, but it's Teddy (Trevor Donovan)! And to invoke Naomi's catchphrase in this episode: "But, he's so hot." So, of course, we have to approve of Ian's decision to throw caution to the wind and get some Teddy kisses in the stairwell.

Hello, "Vampire Diaries" fans! It's Carina and Tierney, back again -- but this time, we actually agree on something. (There's a first time for everything, right?)
Vampire-Diaries.net dug up the casting call for Klaus, the vampire out for Elena's blood and looking to seek vengeance against Katherine for slipping through his grasp 500 years ago. In order to break the vampire curse and walk in the sun without a ring, Klaus needs to kill not only Elena, but Bonnie, Tyler, and Caroline as well.
According to the casting sides, "Klaus is late-20′s to mid-30′s. He's handsome, charming, intelligent, with a sharp wit. He's the only person who can out-Damon Damon. That's because he's got a thousand years on him. Klaus is one of the Originals. Possibly the oldest. But you'd never know it because he keeps up with the times."
Ooh, sounds sexy. We put our heads together...

All that And Teddy’s finally doing something interesting. Let’s give the wacky seniors of West Bev their report cards for episode three.
We’ll start with a solid B for Annie’s (Shenae Grimes) freaky boss story: They want to buy her eggs for $20,000. I like that idea, but I think making the little murderer a surrogate would keep things even more interesting, just like when Adrianna (Jessica Lowndes got pregnant in season one. And we all know the show likes repeating storylines, as Teddy (Trevor Donovan) and that random theater guy are totally going to be the new Adrianna and Gia (Rumer Willis.)
Silver almost being raped by Mr. Cannon: B+
Mr. Cannon (Hal Ozsan) may have lured Silver (Jessica Stroup) to his home, but her Katie Couric hair and equally Couric-esque instincts figured out what he was up to. I see things getting ugly for that rapist.

I sincerely believe that "90210's" third season is epic right now. The producers have finally taken off their kid gloves and decided to get their hands dirty.
There are so many juicy things going on! Where do I start?
Down with Mr. Cannon: I'm so excited that Silver (Jessica Stroup) figured out that Mr. Cannon (Hal Ozsan) is a big gross pedophilic liar before it was too late. How amazingly edited was that scene of him trying to drug her interspersed with shots of Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) downing wine and a few too many pills? Okay, so maybe the wild animals playing in the background was a bit too much. In the end, though, it was necessary that Silver hears the voiceover in the documentary and match it with what Naomi said during her tribute video. So, I'm not mad at "90210" for stealing a bit from "Mean Girls."
I'm thankful that Silver figured it out.

Hard-nosed journalist Silver suspects Naomi is always lying — so she doesn’t believe her when she confides that Mr. Cannon really did rape her.
What’s worse is that Mr. Cannon (Hal Ozsan) has set his hungry eyes on Silver (Jessica Stroup) and she won’t even see it coming. That’s pretty much the gist of 90210’s Sept. 20 episode, which found Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord) lying to everyone and throwing a ridiculously lavish 18th birthday complete with panthers… Panthers! This isn’t True Blood, Naomi. Some things are too ridiculous!
Speaking of ridiculous, here’s a clip of West Bev’s resident perv Mr. Cannon in action:

I guess some other stuff happened as well, including Ivy’s (Gillian Zinser) possibly fake-British friend Oscar (Blair Redford) tricking Dixon (Tristan Wilds) into letting some girl do a body shot off of him. This pissed...
