The announcement of Halo Studios’ rebranding and its future projects is fuel for cautious optimism. Now, Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries) is looking to turn the page, both literally and figuratively. In the announcement, studio head Pierre Hintze stated, “We start a new chapter today.” But what direction will the franchise take now?

The Halo franchise held a revered place in gaming for decades, but its recent trajectory hasn’t been the best. Once seen as the undisputed king of first-person shooters (Fps), the series has struggled to recapture the magic that originally propelled it to success. Will this new chapter bring it back to its former glory?

There’s no denying the fact that the last couple of years have been a wild one for the Halo franchise. Halo Infinite was supposed to revive the franchise and even brought an incredible campaign to the table, but it still managed to fail player expectations due to a lack of content. Players believed that it was the end of the road for the iconic franchise, and Microsoft would divert its resources somewhere else now.

There was no debating it – Bill Maher’s Real Time was going to talk about Thursday night’s presidential candidates battle and the consequences of Joe Biden’s performance.
Maher started the show with a couple jabs, noting that Trump would not have gotten away with his tall tales if only Joe Biden had been present. It was a theme that carried over to the panel portion of the show, where former presidential candidate and Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard tried to inject a bit of common sense into the rants of Maher and guest Chris Matthews.
Basically, the ball about continuing his campaign is in Biden’s court, it was conceded. “It’s his decision. He’s got the delegates. There’s nothing to do,” Matthews said.
Even if Biden decides to fall on his sword, there’s little change on the horizon, Gabbard said. “I don’t think it makes a difference.

A 2003 MSNBC video has resurfaced of a young Vivek Ramaswamy asking Rev. Al Sharpton about his lack of political experience during Sharpton’s run for the 2004 Democratic nomination. The footage has spread on social media as people, including Ramaswamy’s Republican primary opponents, question the candidate’s own lack of experience in professional politics. Ramaswamy’s background is in business.
Ramaswamy, then an 18-year-old Harvard student, was questioning Sharpton at an October 2003 event hosted by former MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews. Ramaswamy began, “Hello, I’m Vivek, and I want to ask you: last week on the show we had Sen. Kerry, and the week before, we had Sen. Edwards. And my question for you is, of all the Democratic candidates out there, why should I vote for the one with the least political experience?”
Sharpton fired back, “Well, you shouldn’t, because I have the most political experience,” to approving laughter from the crowd.

Rashida Jones will succeed Phil Griffin as president of MSNBC, the network announced Monday.

“The ReidOut,” Joy Reid’s new 7 p.m. MSNBC program, topped the time slot in total viewers with its Monday debut. Unfortunately, the new show still settled for a fairly distant third place among adults 25-54, which is the key demographic for companies advertising on news programming.
Erin Burnett on CNN won the demo in the hour, when 384,000 of her 1.332 million total viewers were between the ages of 25 to 54, according to Nielsen estimates.
Reid drew 2.627 million total viewers last night, with 285,000 of those coming from the key demo. That key-demo tally would technically not be last place on cable news if you counted Hln, but this is generally considered a three-horse race.

New York Attorney General Investigated NBC News, Per Reports; Network Says It’s Not Aware Of Inquiry
An NBCUniversal spokesperson said the company is not aware of any inquiry by the New York’s attorney general into allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation and gender discrimination.
The Daily Mail and Variety reported on an investigation on Tuesday, one day after it was announced that Andrew Lack, chairman of NBC News and MSNBC, would be departing the network at the end of the month.
Former NBC News anchor Linda Vester told the Daily Mail that she was one of the women who was interviewed as part of the investigation, and she said they wanted to know about any involvement that Lack had in claims of retaliation. In 2018, Vester accused NBC News stalwart Tom Brokaw of making unwanted sexual advances, something that he denied.
Variety spoke to three women, including Vester, who say they were questioned by the office, and it reported that a number of others also were interviewed.

In his first interview since abruptly retiring from “Hardball,” Chris Matthews owned up to the allegations of inappropriate behavior against him.
In late February, journalist Laura Bassett revealed that Matthews made unprofessional comments to her while she was getting her makeup done to appear on his show. She claimed he said “Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?” and “Keep putting makeup on her, I’ll fall in love with her.”
Less than a week later, Matthews announced his retirement from “Hardball” on air, surprising many viewers at home and some of his colleagues at MSNBC.
On Vanity Fair’s “Inside the Hive” podcast, Matthews said that Bassett’s account of what happened was true.
“It’s inappropriate in the workplace to compliment somebody on their appearance. This is in the makeup chair, and I did it,” he said.
He also explained why he didn’t refute Bassett’s allegations.

MSNBC cable news anchor Chris Matthews has admitted that his remarks about women and others justified his abrupt retirement last month.
Speaking to Vanity Fair in his first interview since that exit, the former Hardball host admitted that an account by a female journalist in GQ Magazine alleging Matthews made inappropriate remarks happened.

What do Elizabeth Warren, Debbie Downer and James Bond have in common? They all popped up in some of Saturday Night Live‘s most memorable sketches this weekend — some for better… and some for worse.
It was Bond himself, Daniel Craig, who presided over Season 45’s 15th installment, and proved to be a capable, if not spectacular host who was better suited for digital shorts than he was for live sketches. The episode delivered multiple coronavirus-themed skits, but far fewer laughs than John Mulaney’s week-ago hosting stint.

The best episodes of Saturday Night Live are a magic trick in which everything looks easy. In lesser ones, you can see palpable sweat as the cast and crew try to stitch things together. While not nearly the abject disaster that was Daniel Craig’s last time hosting SNL in 2012, his second outing didn’t take true advantage of the comedic touch he’s brought to films like Logan Lucky and Knives Out.

Days after ending her bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, Elizabeth Warren made a cameo on Saturday Night Live alongside Kate McKinnon, who portrayed the Massachusetts senator on the show.
Warren’s cameo came at the end of a lengthy Fox News spoof about the coronavirus, where host Laura Ingraham (also played by McKinnon) discusses “the coronavirus smear campaign against President Trump” with Cecily Strong’s Jeanine Pirro and Mikey Day and Alex Moffat’s Trump brothers. “Look, coronavirus is an urban legend, and yes, I said ‘urban’ as a dog whistle,...

Updated with video: Saturday Night Live took on the coronavirus outbreak in this weekend’s cold open, with help from former Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren.
Kate McKinnon kicked things off as conservative Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who complained that the coronavirus crisis is a hoax designed to discredit President Trump.
“The left continues to wage its deceitful, dishonest, and frankly gay smear campaign against President Trump,” McKinnon’s Ingraham said before tossing to a video of liberals “driving to Whole Foods to buy the last bottle of organic Purell.”
The clip of that anxious liberal was actually a Fast & Furious scene showing Vin Diesel driving off a skyscraper.
“It’s insane,” McKinnon said about the video. “The left is trying to whip people into a fear frenzy of lies.” She then called coronavirus an “urban legend” and admitted she was being racist.

A lot can happen in a short week’s time. On Saturday, February 29, “Saturday Night Live” opened its episode with a press conference about Covid-19 that turned into an impromptu democratic presidential hopefuls press conference because the primaries were the bigger story. But just seven short days later, most of those candidates had dropped out of the race, leaving Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden last men standing, and Covid-19 became a top news story for the events that canceled due to concerns (everything from SXSW in the U.S. to Mip TV in France) and the states of emergencies declared in places including New York. So the March 5 episode of NBC’s late-night sketch comedy show put its spotlight on the virus — but threw in a surprise political cameo for good measure.

Kate McKinnon pulled double duty in this week’s “SNL” cold open as she began the sketch playing Laura Ingraham and ended it playing Elizabeth Warren — while she stood next to the real Elizabeth Warren. You can check out the sketch in its entirety above. If you just want to see Warren’s appearance, skip to the last two minutes or so.
The sketch began as a pretty standard “Ingraham Angle” cold open, with McKinnon’s Ingraham talking about how nobody should actually care about the coronavirus, echoing the Trump administration’s line about the epidemic that, despite claims that it’s not that big of a deal, is quickly sweeping the globe.
Prior to Warren showing up at the end of the sketch, we actually got another big cameo by former “SNL” cast member Darrell Hammond, who Ingraham introduced as the newest Fox News anchor, Chris Matthews. And Hammond’s impression was spot on.

Bill Maher made some controversial comments defending the abruptly retired “Hardball” host Chris Matthews and slamming overreactions to the coronavirus spread.
“A friend of mine lost his job this week — Chris Matthews. Wanted to give him a shoutout because I will miss him and a lot of other people will, too,” the “Real Time” host said Friday. “MSNBC used to run this thing, ‘This is who we are.’ Well, I didn’t like who you were this week and I don’t think a lot of people who work there like this either. I think this cancel culture is a cancer on progressivism.”
Matthews announced his retirement on air Monday and apologized for making inappropriate comments to women on his show. A week earlier, a female journalist wrote an op-ed revealing that Matthews said things that made her uncomfortable in a 2016 encounter on his show and cited numerous other examples of women with similar experiences.

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders doesn’t seem to be forgiving – or at least forgetting – the Nazi army metaphor that now seems like the beginning of the end for Chris Matthews at MSNBC.
A day after Joe Biden’s Super Tuesday victory, Sanders told reporters that his own campaign has had to face “venom by some in corporate media” – and he used the Matthews gaffe as an example.
Although not mentioning the now-retired Hardball host by name, Sanders said today that “there has not been a campaign that has been having to deal with the venom by some in the corporate media. This campaign has been compared to the coronavirus on television. We have been described as the Nazi army marching across France.”
Watch the Sanders clip below.

It’s fair to say MSNBC had a “Hardball” problem. Perhaps it wasn’t just the one everyone was talking about.
Chris Matthews’ growing series of on-air gaffes in the midst of intensifying coverage of the 2020 campaign made keeping him on the air difficult for MSNBC executives, as did a litany of troubling stories about his behavior toward female guests on set and behind the scenes. Yet the show itself, based on a concept that worked in the late 1990s, was also becoming outdated.
Matthews had a long tenure as a top political insider, working as a speechwriter for President Jimmy Carter and chief of staff for the very influential Tip O’Neill when he was the Speaker of the House. But he gained early momentum in TV as an occasional panelist on :”The McLaughlin Group,” whose host, John McLaughlin, helped blaze a trail for programming led by a...

Chris Matthews was a mainstay at MSNBC for two-plus decades until his abrupt resignation on Monday following several on-air gaffes and an accusation he made inappropriate remarks to another journalist. What he was not, however, was a big ratings draw. Last month, “Hardball With Chris Matthews” was dead last in the 7 p.m. Et time slot among adults 25-54, the key demographic for cable news programming most coveted by advertisers. According to Nielsen’s Live + Same Day ratings, he drew just 229,000 viewers per episode in the key demo — trailing both Fox News’ “The Story With Marta MacCallum” and CNN’s “Erin Burnett OutFront”. Still, Matthews managed to draw 1.5 million total viewers, ahead of Burnett but still well behind MacCallum (2.7 million). That means the 74-year-old’s audience skewed a little long in the tooth. Those rankings aren’t just for February — the cable news standings shook out the same way for...

Journalists at MSNBC paid tribute to colleague Chris Matthews after his abrupt on-air resignation Monday night, and so too did Fox News’ Tucker Carlson … in his own way.

Groveling in the end couldn’t save him; it never does. I would say his real sin, of course, was being old and unfashionable. That’s why they’re making him leave,” Carlson said on his show Monday night.

Chris Matthews announced that he is retiring effective immediately, and that Monday’s Hardball would be the last on MSNBC.
“This isn’t for a lack of interest in politics,” he said on the air tonight. “As you can tell I have loved every minute of my 20 years as host of Hardball.”

In an essay published on Friday in GQ, former HuffPost reporter Laura Bassett revealed that the unnamed “famous broadcast journalist” she had accused in a 2017 piece of making inappropriate comments to her when she was a guest on his show was MSNBC’s Chris Matthews.
“In 2017, I wrote a personal essay about a much older, married cable news host who inappropriately flirted with me in the makeup room a few times before we went live on his show, making me noticeably uncomfortable on air. I was afraid to name him at the time for fear of retaliation from the network; I’m not anymore. It was Chris Matthews,” Bassett, now a freelance journalist, wrote in GQ. (A representative for MSNBC did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.)

A freelance journalist said in a column published Friday that veteran MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews made inappropriate comments to her while she was getting ready to appear on his program – the latest account of allegedly insensitive behavior over the years by the longtime political commentator.
Writing in GQ, journalist Laura Bassett described a 2016 encounter with Matthews while sitting in a makeup chair to appear on “Hardball,” the program he has anchored for many years. She writes: “Matthews looked over at me in the makeup chair next to him and said, ‘Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?’ When I laughed nervously and said nothing, he followed up to the makeup artist. ‘Keep putting makeup on her, I’ll fall in love with her.'”
An MSNBC spokesperson was not able to offer an immediate comment.
