Here's one more film to watch crawl towards the screen in the coming months, thanks to the American Film Market. Elvis & Nixon is an indie based on the real-life meeting between the crooner and the President, and will mark the feature directing debut of actor Cary Elwes, who co-wrote with Joey Sagal and Hanala Sagal. (And who is probably still best known for his role in The Princess Bride.) To play Elvis, Elwes and his producers have landed Eric Bana -- strike that, Bana is one of the producers. Meanwhile, Danny Huston (The Proposition, Clash of the Titans, John Adams) will play Richard M. Nixon. And if this week's release of J. Edgar proves anything, it is that you don't need someone who is a dead ringer for a famous figure. Actually, I'm not sure that J. Edgar really proves that, but regardless, Huston will probably make a better...

Clare Crean nearly knows everyone. And most buyers know her. She's been with what is now called The Works International since 1999 when it was then operating under the moniker the Sales Company. Just weeks before the Afm, Crean was promoted to head of sales amid a major corporate restructuring and the departure of previous sales chief Carl Clifton to K5 International. Her Afm badge was taken so long ago that it's in black and white but, despite the years between then and now, Crean doesn't seem to have aged much. She talks to U.K. Bureau Chief Stuart Kemp about why the pre-sale is not dead, economizing at markets and why Oscar-winning documentaries are cheaper than fiction for buyers but remain heavy on P&A wallets. Before The Works, Crean sold television and library assets for the U.K. sales, finance and production house J&M Entertainment.

In a bid to resurrect the horror anthology, a cadre of genre directors have signed on to helm segments of Paris, I’ll Kill You, a playful and bloody spin on the art house love fest Paris, je t’aime.

While anthologies are always hit or miss by nature, this mix of directors has me optimistic as several of them have helmed enjoyable movies that challenged the boundaries of the horror genre. Dante’s directed fun flicks that blend comedy and horror in the suburbs,...

Works Media Group tells me its interim financial results are still being finalised but expects its accounting problems to be resolved by tomorrow. The UK film distribution and sales company failed to publish its half-year accounts on time and had its shares suspended on the London Stock Exchange last week. Meanwhile, it's business as usual. Its division Works International just promoted Clare Crean to head of sales at the London-based sales agent after Carl Clifton left to join rival K5 International. Crean is the 3rd head of sales to be appointed at The Works in less than 12 months. Joy Wong left earlier this year too. Crean’s slate includes BBC Films’ Toast, a biopic of food writer Nigel Slater starring Helena Bonham Carter and Freddie Highmore.
