Well, I didn’t think this day would come. But I guess this also means I’ll have this day to look back on—the day I was either brave or foolish enough to try to explain the inexplicable. There was no guessing what route Nathan Fielder and Benny Safdie’s uncomfortable and unbelievably raw exploration of white guilt, gentrification, and narcissism would have taken. None of us could’ve expected the finale of The Curse to leave us more baffled than we already were when the show started toying with us. You know that big question that’s been bugging Asher in the background as his life goes out of whack? We’ve kind of been pranked into taking it off his mind and into ours, along with the curse of having a much bigger and more absurd mystery to solve.

It’s only January, but we feel pretty safe saying we won’t see a more surreal and confounding season finale this year than the one The Curse just served up. Let’s try to make sense of it!
The finale — which debuted on Paramount+ With Showtime on Friday and airs this Sunday at 9/8c on Showtime — picks up months later, with a now-pregnant Whitney and Asher appearing as guests on Rachael Ray’s talk show to promote their show, which has been relegated to HGTV’s streaming service. After 10 episodes of unbearably awkward white-savior bullsh*t and some top-shelf acting, especially from Emma Stone, The Curse ends on the most baffling note possible. With Whitney (Stone) on the verge of giving birth and their HGTV Go series warranting an interview with Rachael Ray, Asher (Nathan Fielder) wakes up one morning to find himself stuck on the ceiling. Terrestrial explanations for Asher experiencing a highly localized reverse polarity of gravity are suggested (we'll get into them), but the upshot is that Asher floats upwards indefinitely, past the clouds and the upper atmosphere, into space, gone forever. And that… is the end of the show.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The Curse” Episode 10, “Green Queen.”]
“We thought it was a sad thing, and it is a sad thing, but it’s also funny, too. Or there’s humor that could be found in it. Because art is about… really, art is about, um… sometimes you have to go to extreme lengths to make your point.”
In the above quote from Episode 10, Asher (Nathan Fielder) is struggling to describe Mel Brooks’ classic film “The Producers,” but he may as well be talking about “The Curse.” After all, Fielder and Benny Safdie’s impossible concoction of sad things and funny things elevates its tale of marital disillusionment and cosmetic social concerns to an extreme ending. The second half of Episode 10 is so remarkable, so unexpected, and so brain-bendingly bonkers it overwhelms everything that came before it. If you thought the Rachael Ray cold open was surprising, it’s the last thing on...

The first 25 minutes of The Curse‘s 10th and final episode are pretty much what you’d expect. The story of Asher Siegel (Nathan Fielder) and Whit Siegel (Emma Stone) begins to wind down and the husband-wife duo appears to have gotten (almost) everything they’ve ever wanted.
Their Flipanthropy renovation series, now rebranded Green Queen, has a spot on HGTV … albeit the HGTV streaming app but HGTV all the same. They get to promote their program on an episode of The Rachael Ray Show. Granted, Rachael is far more interested in her guest Vincent Pastore (of The Sopranos) and his meatball recipe but still … Rachael Ray! Whit is finally even pregnant, perpetually resting her hand on her bulging belly as if to reassure herself that the baby they tried so hard for is actually there. Baby Braxton, of course, is in...

Jon Rosen, a longtime WME agent and executive who has represented some of TV’s best known news anchors and celebrity chefs, is leaving the Endeavor-owned agency to launch his own management firm, according to three people familiar with the matter.
Rosen, who represents NBC News’ Stephanie Ruhle, Willie Geist and Hallie Jackson as well as CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, is set to manage many of his current clients, according to one of these people, and they are expected to retain WME as an agency. A WME spokesperson did not respond immediately to a query seeking comment and Rosen could not be reached immediately for comment via a call Wednesday.
His exit comes as WME parent Endeavor has come under new scrutiny on Wall Street. The company, which recently helped create the combat-sports company Tko, suggested in October that it might consider going private.

The first Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Spca) was organized in England in 1824, primarily to prevent the abuse of carriage horses in the days before automobiles. Horses were driven through freezing cold winters and stiflingly hot summers, often with little food, water or rest. The carriage drivers were interested only in making as much money as possible, and would beat the horses if they refused to or were unable to pull the carriages.
The Spca helped to pass laws that regulated the carriage-horse business. With this success, the Society expanded to include dogs and other animals in its fight against cruelty.
The first American Spca (Aspca) was started in 1866 in New York City. There are now SPCAs all over the U.S., and indeed, all over the world.

CBS Media Ventures President Steve LoCascio is retiring after 34 years at the company and its previous iterations as the division will become part of the portfolio of Wendy McMahon, named this morning as President and CEO of CBS News and Stations and CBS Media Ventures.
The consolidation is not surprising. LoCascio’s departure comes amid a seismic changes in the syndication business marked by a major contraction in first-run syndication, primarily in the talk shoe arena. CBS Media Ventures and CBS TV Distribution’s top shows, Judge Judy, Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray, all ended their long runs in the last few years. Tony Bennett is one of the most well-known names in music and entertainment. Sadly, he died in July 2023, and he left behind a legacy fans will never forget. Racheal Ray from the Food Network was extremely close to Bennett — and she called how she nearly killed him once. Here’s what she shared.
Rachael Ray recalled a time when she ‘almost killed’ Tony Bennett
Tony Bennett and Rachael Ray became close through the years, and Ray even cooked for Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto. Unfortunately, one dinner party night didn’t go according to plan. Ray asked Bennett and his wife to come over for cocktails and food, and she wanted to make sure the house was spotless before their arrival.
“When Tony’s coming over for supper, I get a little nervous,” Ray shared on her talk show, Rachael Ray Show. “I super clean. I don’t just vacuum,...

Password is considered one of the greatest television game shows of all time — so great that it has been revived in different iterations on CBS, ABC and NBC over the past 60 years. The current reboot, hosted by Keke Palmer on NBC, is eligible this year for Emmy consideration in the outstanding game show and game show host categories — two honors that for the first time will be part of the Primetime Emmys instead of the Daytime Emmys.
Password first aired on CBS in 1961. The premise: two teams, each composed of one celebrity and one “civilian,” battle to be first to correctly guess a hidden word. Each team is given a single-word clue and works against the clock to guess the password and earn points toward a cash prize.
