This article contains spoilers for The Boys season 4 episodes 1, 2, and 3.
Through its first three seasons, Amazon Prime Video‘s superhero satire The Boys has drifted further and further from its comic book origins. While the series continues to borrow characters from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s long-running comic, those characters often end up changing significantly in adaptation.
Season 3’s Soldier Boy was not a cowardly Captain America pastiche but a powerful super-fascist from America’s golden age. Gen V‘s Tek Knight isn’t a Tony Stark-esque metal man, but a true crime streaming host with the ability to sniff out lies. Now, in season 4, The Boys has introduced two major characters who are completely original to the show with no obvious comic analogues: Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) and Firecracker (Valorie Curry).
While both are sure to play important roles in the weeks to come, the first three...

Chris Evans retired from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for good after Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Yet, his charismatic portrayal of Captain America continues to create ripples among the fandom, particularly the ‘spectacular’ physique he built up for the role. Undergoing an extensive workout regimen along with 12-14 hours of daily shoots, the actor’s physical transformation is one of the best Hollywood has ever witnessed.
Chris Evans’ iconic scene in Captain America: Civil War
But one look at him now makes it hard to believe he is the same actor who showed off his bicep bulge while dragging a helicopter in Captain America: Civil War. Even fans are shocked to see how much weight Evans has lost since his Marvel retirement.

The highly anticipated threequel to the Deadpool series, Deadpool & Wolverine, has breathed life into the dying MCU. And just as it has revived the franchise after a series of losses, it has also given birth to a number of theories. And these theories are not just limited to Deadpool’s own series, but even extend to other Marvel heroes, such as Captain America.

The latest Doom game has a medieval twist to it. Recently revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase after months of rumors and leaks, the game is set to launch next year on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
But that hasn’t stopped modders from already including one of its best new weapons into the original Doom game – the new shield. This isn’t just any old shield. It’s practically turning players into a brutal and bloody version of Captain America.
The New Shield Has Already Been Modded to the Classic Doom
The upcoming Doom game will have flyable mounts as well.
This shield isn’t just for blocking attacks; you can actually use it as a weapon, throwing it at enemies and watching them get wrecked. The shield looks great, and it’s got this rugged, battle-worn design that fits perfectly with the whole medieval vibe of the game.

The sun may be setting on the Marvel empire but the tired old franchise might yet have a few tricks up its sleeves. Refusing to go down without a bang, the MCU has started to collect the debt from its past (and a few from the future). As a result, it’s finally time for Midnight Sons, the highly anticipated project to come to fruition after years of unfulfilled expectations and a grueling cinematic experience.
Midnight Sons [Credit: Marvel Comics]To Marvel’s credit, what the superhero vehicle lacks in quality, it more than makes up for in timing. After scarring people’s memories with movies like Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, the MCU seems to have shifted its gears back to neutral instead of driving in reverse. With Midnight Sons, the franchise can begin to heal its past mistakes and start anew.

You have to hand it to “The Boys.” Production on Season 4 of the Amazon action satire wrapped over a year ago, with its release delayed by subsequent strikes in the entertainment industry. The premiere still manages to be almost uncannily well-timed, with characters waiting on a verdict from the breathlessly publicized Manhattan trial of a polarizing political figure. Granted, the figure in question is Homelander (Antony Starr), the psychopathic Captain America type who serves as the series’ archvillain, not a certain former — and possibly future — president. But the trial’s subject is a clear allusion to an infamous Trumpism. When Homelander eye-lasered a protester for throwing a plastic bottle at his son, he essentially shot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue. And in the ever-cynical world of “The Boys,” Homelander loses about as much support for it as his real-life inspiration.

We've been hearing rumblings about a Young Avengers movie or TV show for several years now, with the closest we've come to that being at the end of The Marvels when Ms. Marvel attempted to recruit Kate Bishop/Hawkeye to a team she's started assembling.
However, at this rate, the McU's Young Avengers won't be young for very long!
In a rumour roundup shared by The Cosmic Circus, Alex Perez claims Young Avengers will likely head our way before movies like Scarlet Witch and Thor 5, suggesting Marvel Studios is finally getting serious about bringing these heroes together.
Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how a movie like this fares at the box office, particularly if it's released before Avengers 5.
As for whether the project will finally unite Wiccan and Hulkling, a popular LGBTQ+ couple in the comics, Perez seems confident it's going to happen. "Billy isn’t even the Wiccan yet.

Taking over the mantle from Andrew Garfield, the Tom Holland version of Spider-Man took a majestic leap straight into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, kick-starting a new era of collaboration between Marvel and Sony. The entry of the teenage web-slinger, though, happened under the banner of Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man during the split within the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, with the character remaining in the shadows of his mentor for quite a long time.

Marvel Studios first announced plans to reboot the Fantastic Four in 2019. The Covid-19 pandemic and Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts' decision to leave the project slowed things down, but The Fantastic Four is finally heading our way next year.

To celebrate, Marvel Studios has released an awesome new one-minute extended TV trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, offering a ton of never-before-seen new footage as the Merc with a Mouth (Ryan Reynolds) teams up with Weapon X (Hugh Jackman) to take on the exceedingly dangerous Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin) and save the multiverse - and their friends - before it's all too late.

Benedict Cumberbatch plays Stephen Strange a.k.a Doctor Strange in the MCU. One of the leading figures of the Avengers, Strange, has made multiple appearances, including Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The character was last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Though Strange is an important character, his future in the MCU has been unclear. However, a recent update sees him taking a backseat to make way for Benedict Wong’s Wong to act as a recruiter. According to a new rumor, Wong, the current Sorcerer Supreme, will be recruiting new Avengers for the film Captain America: Brave New World.

Captain America: Brave New World reshoots are currently taking place in Atlanta and it appears another major Marvel character has been added to the movie.
Based on a recent Instagram post from paparazzi Atlanta Filming (who has taken hundreds of the shots we've featured here over the years), it appears Benedict Wong will return as the McU's Sorcerer Supreme, Wong.
This might feel like a strange move, but it makes sense on several levels. For starters, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings revealed that Wong, Bruce Banner, and Captain Marvel seem to regularly meet to discuss threats to Earth-616, so why wouldn't he touch base with the new Captain America?
Then, there's the fact Abomination is now training in Kamar-Taj; he was created by The Leader and could have valuable intel about the villain...heck, he may even show up to help Sam Wilson deal with Red Hulk.

The Ultimates #1 went on sale earlier this week (you can read our recap by clicking here), and thanks to ComicBook.com, we have a first look at the second issue ahead of its release on July 10.
In the sneak peek, the Ultimates are shown fighting their way into the White House, presumably to find out more about The Maker's Council. The heroes eventually make their way inside where we see a photograph of The Maker cosying up to the United States President.
It appears Captain America, who has only just come out of the ice, will also learn more about America's history and how the United States is no more after the world's supervillains carved the world up as they saw fit.
As for the Iron Man-like baddie waiting for Cap in the Oval Office, we're pretty sure that's Midas.

Welcome to the latest instalment of a brand-new feature here on Nerdly, where one of our comic gurus, Ian Wells, delves into comics history and dissects Comics Interview, the long-running journal of interviews and criticism from David Anthony Kraft (Dak).
Respect For Dak
In this issue Dak kicks things off talking about how much writing he is still doing in other forms. Borrowing a page from his book I want to take a more extended look at his comics career as I don’t feel I done it justice in the first issue. I mean no disrespect but I feel ‘journeyman writer’ is best to describe his career. It is an impressive catalogue of work, where he can play claim to having worked on legendary characters such as; Kamandi, Tarzan, Captain America and She Hulk. In 1984 he finished a long stint on Worlds Finest, so you can add Batman and...

When one looks at filmmakers who have been influential in the landscape of Hollywood films, it is difficult to look past Clint Eastwood. The actor-director has left his stamp on the industry through various path-breaking films that have left an indelible mark with audiences and critics alike.

Having mastered the Western with films like The Good The Bad and The Ugly, For A Few Dollars More, and High Plains Drifter, Eastwood turned the genre on its head with his award-winning film Unforgiven which redefined the aesthetics of the Hollywood Western. Interestingly, the director mulled over the script for a good decade before taking it up, a move that ultimately paid rich dividends.

Kevin Feige had a far crazier idea for Avengers: Endgame climax inspired by the Toy Story 3 ending. Feige wanted to kill off all the six Og Avengers at the end of the film and proposed the idea to directors Russo brothers and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. However, they shot down the idea since the directors believed that they could not do justice to all these character deaths.

Moreover, too many deaths would’ve left the audience in a disappointed and confused state. The sacrifices of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man were the only ones required to create an emotional impact on the viewers. With Captain America’s fitting happy ending, fans were overwhelmed with emotions while leaving the theaters.

Yesterday evening, the news broke that Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy is being eyed to helm Avengers 5. Marvel Studios must be pleased with the Merc with the Mouth's upcoming threequel, but the report also featured another major revelation.
Apparently, the movie - previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty - will feature upwards of 60 Marvel characters!
As you might have guessed, that got us thinking about who we'll see in Avengers 5. While Marvel Studios has already introduced hundreds of heroes and villains, not all of them would fit into this movie.
So, no, this isn't just a list of 60 MCU characters, it's our breakdown of who we believe would fit into the story as well as which corner of this shared world they hail from. There are bound to be some surprises and glaring omissions which upset some fans, but we think this is a pretty definitive list of exciting possibilities.

We lost a good many Avengers in the great battle against Thanos – Captain America, Black Widow, Vision – but perhaps the one that still gets fans really emotional is the death of Robert Downey Jr.’s ‘Iron Man.’ Happily, after 15 years of playing Tony Stark / Iron Man in three movies and across the Marvel
Cinematic Universe, Robert Downey Jr. is still interested in reprising his role. He also doesn’t want you to bet against Kevin Feige when it comes to his character’s grand return to the world of the living. If they can bring Gomora back, sure they can do the same for our Iron Man.
Robert Downey Jr. – Is “Surprisingly Open-minded” To Reprising His Iron Man Role
I don’t think fans will ever forget that Iron Man died just days before his wedding to Pepper Potts – his assistant, who later became love of his life.

In the new Ultimate Universe, The Maker (the original Ultimate Universe's twisted Mister Fantastic) used time travel to create his ideal Earth by systematically preventing anyone from ever becoming a superhero and by establishing a secret council of supervillains.
The Maker's Council rules the world from the shadows, but he's now gone, locked in his own facility, The City, by Howard Stark.
That's left Howard's teenage son, Tony, to take on the codename Iron Lad and team up with this world's Doom (a broken Reed Richards) to set things right. First, they stole the frozen Super-Soldier Captain America from the icy depths. Next, they broke the Asgardian God Thor out of prison and were followed by his warden, Sif.
However, the Maker's Council did not want Iron Lad unmaking the world they had built. Council member Captain Britain confronted the team, badly wounding Thor but losing an eye to Iron Lad.

Avengers, re-assemble!
Variety has reported that Shawn Levy, reliable director of “Night at the Museum,” “Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian,” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb” is “in the mix” to helm the next “Avengers” superhero team-up for Marvel. In late July, his promised-to-be-potty-mouthed R-rated “Deadpool & Wolverine” will hit theaters and, clearly, Marvel’s leader, Kevin Feige, liked what he saw.
Marvel is in desperate need of a course correction after some wobbly entries like “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” “The Marvels,” and “Thor: Love and Thunder.” There was once a time when the Marvel opening logo was enough to print money and create cultural resonance, but those days have begun to wane, due in part to a glut of Disney+ streaming shows and the fact that “Avengers: Endgame” really did seem like a nice place to end the story. “The Truth is… I Am Iron Man”. The iconic line for Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark kick-started the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the first Iron Man movie back in 2008. Ever since the franchise evolved and expanded beyond comprehension and currently stands as one of the most star-studded ones in Hollywood. However, the biggest pull and win for this new connected universe truly came with 2012’s The Avengers and its subsequent iterations.

Will the Original Avengers Assemble Again? Jeremy Renner Reacts to Potential Reunion(Photo Credit –Instagram)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has not been the same since the departure of the original Avengers in Avengers: Endgame (2019). While the franchise continued with new and young heroes, ardent fans believe that it has lost its plot and are eager to see the Og heroes back on screen.
Jeremy Renner, who played one of the founding Avengers, Hawkeye, in a number of MCU films, has now expressed his thoughts on a possible reunion, revealing that he would love to work with everyone again.

All we know for sure is that he is playing a villain, and based on his array of weapons, we'd say he is more than likely a non-super-powered mercenary of some kind. This does narrow things down, but not by much!

Director Shawn Levy may be sticking around the Marvel Cinematic Universe a bit longer.
Levy, who helmed this summer’s “Deadpool and Wolverine,” is being eyed by Marvel — though it’s in very early stages — to direct the next “Avengers” movie.
Destin Daniel Cretton, who made 2021’s Marvel movie “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” was previously supposed to direct the fifth “Avengers” movie, but he backed out in November 2023. That movie, which is scheduled for May 1, 2026, also does not currently have a title. It was originally named “Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,” but lost that title after Jonathan Majors, who was cast as the time-traveling villain Kang the Conqueror, was convicted of assaulting and harassing his ex-girlfriend. After this untitled “Avengers” movie, the next will be “Avengers: Secret Wars,” set for May 7, 2027.

Way back in 2019, Avengers: Endgame handed over the mantle of Captain America to Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson. Two years later, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier made the point canon and established the hero firmly into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which canonically was flaring up in tensions owing to the sudden re-emergence of the population that vanished and returned leading to mass displacement and worldwide chaos.

Ever since The Mandalorian and The Boys star Giancarlo Esposito confirmed that he'd been cast in a mystery MCU role, speculation has run wild about who he might be playing.
The actor confirmed he'd debut in a movie before showing up in a Disney+ TV series and set photos have since revealed his big screen project as Captain America: Brave New World. Esposito was enlisted for reshoots and a first look at his unnamed character showed him in tactical gear wielding several knives and what appears to be an axe.
Typically, a set photo like that would make it clear who an actor is playing; as things stand, we're no closer to knowing for sure who the Breaking Bad alum has been cast as. Or are we?
A new rumour is floating around online (we think it's more of a theory than anything) which suggests Esposito is playing Moon Knight villain Bushman.

Robert Downey Jr. led the Avengers in the Infinity Saga as Tony Stark/ Iron Man for a decade. Following his introduction in Iron Man, he slowly assembled the original six Avengers with the help of Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Hawkeye, and Iron Man would assemble for the first time in 2012’s The Avengers.

With reshoots ongoing on Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World, a ton of new set photos have been surfacing online over the past few days and the latest batch reveals star Anthony Mackie ("Sam Wilson/Captain America") suited up in his classic white-and-blue suit from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, essentially reaffirming that he'll be sporting multiple looks in the eagerly-awaited Marvel blockbuster.
As per a recent report, the additional photography isn't expected to be particularly extensive, and should conclude within another week or two. New action sequences were expected to be added, so based on what we're seeing in these photos, it looks like they might be shooting a new opening for the film, where Mackie sports his first Captain America suit.

New action sequences were expected to be added, so based on what we're seeing in these photos, it looks like they might be shooting a new opening for the film, where Mackie sports his first Captain America suit.

Rian Johnson, the writer and director behind Knives Out and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, loves whodunits, particularly due to “how malleable the genre is,” he shared on X last month. Johnson, who considers Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile (1978) and Evil Under the Sun (1982) touchstone films, announced the latest sequel in May, titled Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Marvel had a rough year in 2023. Many of its properties underperformed, and they lost their big villain due to Jonathan Majors being fired. Looking forward to their upcoming slate, comic fans have been excited about some of the studio’s projects over the next few years. Will these films help Marvel regain control? The upcoming Thunderbolts film has been one that fanboys have been hoping to see since the MCU started. With some recent news about the property coming up, it seems like the right time to break down what we know about the production.

The team first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1997 in an issue of The Incredible Hulk. They seemed to be a new group of superheroes that had arrived on the scene and gained acclaim very quickly. The reader was informed that the group was actually a group of supervillains led by Baron Zemo.

Ever since Steve Rogers decided to hand his shield off to his buddy Sam Wilson (a.k.a. Falcon) at the end of Avengers: Endgame, fans have wondered what was next. We got a Disney+ series that showed Sam’s hesitance to pick up the mantle of Captain America and the history that comes with it. By the end of the series, he knew he was the only person who could take on the role of Captain America. Now, where do we go? It looks like the upcoming story of super heroes and alter egos, Captain America: Brave New World, will tell us when it reaches theatre screens on February 14, 2025.

Following his debut as Helmut Zemo in the 2017 film Captain America: Civil War, Daniel Brühl reprised his role in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier alongside Sebastian Stan and Anthony Mackie. Zemo, who played a pivotal role in pitting the Avengers against each other, was anticipated to reappear in Thunderbolts*, where he is a key figure in the comics, even serving as the team’s leader.

What’s more, back when the Russo Brothers were part of the MCU, it was effectively a golden bird for Marvel. Avengers: Endgame was the second-last movie of the MCU’s Phase III, and there has been considerable stagnancy ever since. Be it in the form of narrative problems, dwindling box office returns, or repetitive storytelling, there are simply a number of reasons why fans have not been as impressed with Marvel’s offerings over the past few years.
