“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” is not slowing down for its last turn at the Emmys. For its fifth and final season, the period comedy on Amazon Prime Video is finishing exactly at the same amount it started with, at 14 Emmy nominations, almost a fifth of the streamer’s 2023 total of 68. This is the longest-spanning season for the show, covering five decades in nine episodes detailing the title character’s ascending career and destructive personal life. Among its mentions are its bid for Best Comedy Series, an honor that it has received its entire run (it won in 2018), as well as major categories it has succeeded in years past. Read on for a closer look at “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s” 14 Emmy nominations.

After “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” wrapped its final scenes, two-time Emmy winner Alex Borstein took center stage at the Wolford Theatre, home base of the comedy’s fictional burlesque club for a music-infused stand-up show.
The special, titled “Corsets & Clown Suits,” is now streaming on Prime Video alongside the first four episodes of “Maisel’s” fifth and final season. In conversation with Variety ahead of Maisel’s final episodes, Borstein describes the 81-minute special, produced by Amazon Studios, “as a filthy Ted talk with music.”
She explains: “You’re gonna learn some things that you may wish you could forget,” she jokes, elaborating on that it’s a “deeply personal and wildly fictitious journey I go on to figure out what perception is and how I am perceived.”
As an actor, Borstein is certainly respected. She has won two Primetime Emmys, two SAG Awards, and two Critics Choice Awards for her turn on “Maisel,...

Amazon is deepening its relationship with Alex Borstein.
In fact, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star is readying her first Amazon Original comedy special, which she’s titled Alex Borstein: Corsets & Clown Suits. It’s slated to hit on April 18th, four days after Maisel debuts its fifth and final season on the service. Fittingly, it was filmed at The Wolford Theatre, the fictional burlesque club from Maisel‘s fourth season, and relied on the award-winning crafts team from the show.
The special, which comes as Borstein and her co-stars embark on another crowded awards season, is being billed as the three-time Emmy winner’s “deeply personal and wildly fictitious account of one woman’s attempt to f*** with perception.” Equal parts provocative and whimsical, the self-penned performance will include assists from Borstein’s muse and maestro, Barcelona-native musicians, Eric Mills and Salva Rey. It is the first special from the former Mad TV star.

The last two Producers Guild of America Awards told us which movies — “Green Book” (2019) and “The Shape of Water” (2018) — would win the Oscar for Best Picture weeks before the Academy Awards. In fact, 21 of the previous PGA Awards winners have then gone on to claim Best Picture victories.
For the 31st annual ceremony slated for Saturday, January 18 at the Hollywood Palladium, we already know the top choice will be at the very least a major front-runner for this year’s Oscar. The PGA’s 10 nominated films are “Ford v Ferrari,” “The Irishman,” “Jojo Rabbit,” “Joker,” “Knives Out,” “Little Women,” “Marriage Story,” “1917,” “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Parasite.” All but “Knives Out” contend at the Oscars for Best Picture.

The Producers Guild of America has revealed its nominees in the motion picture and television categories for its 31st Annual Producers Guild Awards; nominees include recent Golden Globe winners “1917,” “Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood,” “Missing Link,” “Succession,” “Fleabag” and “Chernobyl.”
The PGA, which has about 8,200 members, has matched the Oscar for best picture in 21 of its 30 years, including “The Green Book” last year and “The Shape of Water” in 2018.
The PGA uses a preferential balloting system that’s similar to that employed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The PGA and AMPAS both expanded their voting for the top film to 10 nominees in 2009. About three-quarters of the PGA’s Zanuck nominees wind up as Oscar best picture nominees.
On the TV side, among all of the drama and comedy nominees, only “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (last year’s comedy winner) is a repeat from last year.

So far I've collected six separate 2010 compilation videos looking back at the this year's collection of films. To the best of my knowledge, these six videos include clips from 303 films and together they total 34:34. I have included the complete list of films on the second page if you are interested. Let me know if I'm missing any, but I think it's pretty safe to say if you liked a film in 2010 one of these following videos will feature it.

Recently, we've been seeing a lot of film compilations showing up on YouTube. Gen Ip's Filmography 2010 made quite a big splash and there was a very positive reaction to Matthew Shapiro's 2010: The Cinescape. Now we have a new film compilation, put together by Kees Van Dijkhuizen, called Cinema 2010. It's just as impressive as the Filmography 2010 and 2010: The Cinescape so we thought we'd reach out to Kees and ask him a few questions about his new video.

While I was blown away by the Filmography 2010 retrospective earlier this week, our old stand-by Matt Shapiro (known as oyguvaltshappy on YouTube), who started these cinematic retrospectives back in 2006, is back with 2010: The Cinescape. While his film selection isn't quite as expansive as Filmography 2010, Shapiro has carefully edited clips from many films including The Social Network, Black Swan, Tron Legacy and one great cut to Scott Pilgrim vs the World. While his only use of the films' dialogue is an invasion of your auditory senses in the beginning, the song he chose brings all of these to life in a great way. Here's Matthew Shapiro's retrospective video 2010: The Cinescape: Along with crediting "A Dustland Fairytale" by The Killers as his song of choice (and a chronological list of all films featured), here's what Shapiro had to say about this year's effort: "I am a huge believer in...

For the last four years, we've been featuring Matthew Shapiro's yearly film video montages (you can watch the videos which highlight previous years here: 2009 [1], 2008 [2], 2007 [3], and 2006 [4]. His latest video, 2010: The Cinescape has been released just in time for the new year. This year Shapiro edited the video to The Killers' "A Dustland Fairytale" , a more upbeat tune than last year's Radiohead. Here is a note from Matt: I am a huge believer in the notion that while some films may be for adults and others for kids, and while some films may be of higher quality than those aimed at the lowest common denominator, escaping into the world of a film is a universal experience that we all crave, no matter who we are or how greatly our tastes differ. The goal of this video is to at least begin to capture the essence of what that lose-yourself-to-film feeling is like.
