Did anybody call for a lawyer?
We can barely contain our excitement about the news that Disney+ is bringing back Daredevil in a bid to reignite the character for Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The glimpses of Matt Murdock that we got on Echo and Spiderman: No Way Home were great, but we have missed this tortured, hopeless do-gooder and his heart of gold.
At the risk of sounding like a superfan (guilty), this Marvel nerd has faithfully watched everything that has led up to this moment, hoping for an eventual Daredevil return.
Now that it's actually happening, there's a lot to cover -- let's dive in.
Where Will Daredevil: Born Again Pick Up?
It's been nearly six years since Daredevil Season 3 was released, and it feels like yesterday.

Warren Leight is leaving Law & Order: Svu after serving as an executive producer and showrunner on the venerable NBC crime drama for the past three seasons. It was his second stint at the helm of the Wolf Entertainment series.
Leight announced his exit on Twitter Tuesday night, after wrapping production on the current 23rd season of Svu.
“The last two years of show running during a pandemic have been arduous, and I’ve decided to take a break,” Leight wrote on Twitter in a lengthy thread. (You can read it below)
Leight originally joined Svu at the beginning of Season 13 when the drama was at crossroads, having just lost its co-lead Christopher Meloni. He shifted the attention to Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson and successfully rebuilt the show around her, giving it a new life. Leight rejoined Svu in 2019 for the show’s record-breaking 21st season.

We’ll be seeing more of Octavio Pisano on Law & Order: Svu. Pisano, who portrays Detective Joe Velasco, has been promoted to series regular on the NBC procedural.
Pisano’s Joe Velasco is a former undercover and detective under Chief McGrath (Terry Serpico) who’s been assigned to the Svu. Pisano has appeared in 3 episodes so far, beginning with the season 23 premiere.
Season 23 picked up mere hours after last season’s finale, where Catalina Machado (Zabryna Guevara) was arrested for trafficking single mothers living in shelters in a complex housing-for-sex scheme. She now wants to flip on her superiors in exchange for a deal with the feds, and names a powerful congressman as the big fish. It’s a make-or-break case for the NYPD and puts enormous pressure on the entire Svu squad to get a conviction.

According to Deadline, the NBC procedural will say goodbye to Jamie Gray Hyder (Officer Kat Tamin) and Demore Barnes (Deputy Chief Christian Garland).

"It is with a heavy heart that I confirm Kat's departure from the squad room," Hyder shared on social media shortly after the news broke late last week.

ABC has canceled freshman drama Emergence and sophomore comedies Bless This Mess, Single Parents and Schooled as well as the new Kids Say The Darndest Things revival with Tiffany Haddish.
This cancelations are part of a big round of renewal decisions at the Disney-owned network today, which included the pickup of 13 current series for its 2020-21 slate.
While the cancellation of Emergence was considered likely, bubble comedies Single Parents, Bless This Mess and The Goldbergs’ spinoff Schooled all getting the axe was surprising, especially given the auspices involved. Kevin Williamson’s horror anthology series Tell Me a Story will not return to CBS All Access for a third installment. The two existing seasons of the show, from Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, have been acquired by the CW. This will mark the TV network debut of Tell Me a Story. It also will mark the return to the CW for The Vampire Diaries co-creator/executive producer Williamson and star Paul Wesley who stars in both seasons of the CBS All Access series, as does Danielle Campbell of The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals.
Seasons 1 & 2 of Tell Me a Story will continue to be available on CBS All Access across platforms, with the CW licensing the first two seasons for a second-window run. It is not clear yet whether Tell Me a Story‘s first season would run on the CW in the summer or be kept for fall...

"Are you happy? Or are you pretending to be happy...?" IFC Films has released a brand new, official Us trailer for a freaky indie psychological thriller titled Swallow, from writer/director Carlo Mirabella-Davis. This premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival last year, and also played at Fantastic Fest and Fantasia. Haley Bennett stars as Hunter, a newly pregnant housewife, who finds herself increasingly compelled to consume dangerous objects. As her husband & his family tighten their control over her life, she must confront the dark secret behind her obsession. The cast includes Austin Stowell, Elizabeth Marvel, David Rasche, Luna Lauren Velez, Zabryna Guevara, as well as Denis O'Hare. One quote compares this to Fincher. It looks very upsetting with all the swallowing, but that's what makes it a crazy concept. Check it out below. Here's the official Us trailer (+ new poster) for Carlo Mirabella-Davis' Swallow, direct from YouTube: You can...

There are fewer “Lost”-alikes nowadays than there used to be: Given how frequently hour-long puzzle-box shows seeking to draft off of the ABC smash’s success were met with utter indifference, the networks, give or take an occasional attempt like NBC’s “Manifest” moved on to attempting to copy the “This Is Us” formula. So it’s actually a bit charming to see “Emergence,” a new network show that puts forward a big supernatural-adjacent mystery expanding outward into potential conspiracy or mysticism. It’s the sort of show that they don’t much make anymore.
Here, Allison Tolman plays a small-town police chief who finds a young girl at the site of a plane accident; this young woman (Alexa Swinton) seems to have no recollection of who she is or how she got there. Tolman’s Jo Evans takes the young girl into her home but quickly finds herself...

Emergence, starring Allison Tolman is poised to be one of the most-talked-about new shows of the season.
ABC has shared the first nine minutes online, and we think it's fair to say that it's going to be filled with mysteries.
The series has had a long and winding road to the screen. It was initially in contention at NBC, but the Peacock network decided against giving it a series order.
ABC Studios produced the pilot and went straight to ABC when NBC decided against pressing forward with it.
Generally, when pilots move networks, there are significant changes, but it looks like Emergence will be staying mostly the same, giving hope that it's a high-quality series from the get-go.
Related: Emergence Trailer: Is This The Crossing 2.0?
More promising is that it landed on ABC's fall schedule, meaning the network probably bumped another series off the schedule entirely or delayed a launch.

[Editor’s Note: The following contains spoilers for “The Twilight Zone” Season 1, Episode 8, “Point of Origin.”]
Ginnifer Goodwin played Snow White for eight years on ABC’s “Once Upon a Time,” but she leaves that fairy-tale land far, far behind to enter the nightmarish “Twilight Zone” on CBS All Access. In the episode “Point of Origin,” she plays Eve Martin, who leads a picture-perfect life as a housewife, mother, and benevolent employer who must question her ideas of what it means to belong in a society.
“On the surface, Eve is a privileged white woman who has grown up, to the best of her memory, very safely in the best version of America … in ‘The Twilight Zone’ world,” said Goodwin in an interview with IndieWire. “I would say that she pats herself on the back a little too often for the ways in which she finds herself to be generous. This Thursday on The Twilight Zone, Ginnifer Goodwin plays a suburban housewife “who wants to go home.” But as the official synopsis asks, “Where — and what — is home, really?”
This latest installment of the CBS All Access anthology, rebooted by filmmaker Jordan Peele (Get Out, Us) and already renewed for Season 2, serves up a haunting take on immigration and “bystander apathy,” Goodwin says. And to reveal much more would be no fun, though we will note that James Frain (Gotham) and Zabryna Guevara (New Amsterdam) play key roles.

This is not your typical drama.
Emergence, starring Allison Tolman, is a brand new genre thriller which has had a long and winding road to the screen.
It started its life as a pilot at NBC but was produced by ABC Studios. While NBC apparently liked the show, it never made the cut for a series order.
That's when ABC stepped in, handed out a series order, and even put it on the fall schedule.

NBC executives explained how their Allison Tolman drama pilot, “Emergence,” ended up being ordered to series ABC.
“We had an abundance of choice,” Paul Telegdy, co-chairman, NBC Entertainment, told TheWrap during a conference call with reporters on Sunday. “‘Emergence’ is a great show, but one that we couldn’t find a home for at NBC. We’re delighted it’s found a future at ABC.”
“Emergence” was surprisingly picked up to series by ABC on Saturday, joining the network’s other new series “The Baker and The Beauty,” “For Life,” “Mixed-ish,” “United We Fall” and the Untitled Cobie Smulders Project. The drama, which comes from ABC Studios, stars Tolman, Alexa Swinton, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison and Clancy Brown. It is from Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, with Paul McGuigan on board as director.

In one of the biggest twists this upfront season, NBC’s genre thriller drama pilot Emergence, starring Allison Tolman, was picked up to series by rival network ABC.
During the NBC upfronts press call Sunday, the network’s executives were asked about the decision not to go forward with the project, produced by ABC Studios, and what they thought of ABC’s move to pick it up to series.
“We had an abundance of choices,” NBC Entertainment co-chairman Paul Telegdy said. “Emergence is a great show, one that we couldn’t find a home for on NBC. We are delighted it has found a future on ABC.”
This is the second consecutive year an NBC drama pilot passed on by the network has landed a series pickup elsewhere. Last year, it was The Bad Boys offshoot L.A.’s Finest, which is launching as the first Spectrum original series this week.

The drama pilot “Emergence” has been ordered to series at ABC, though the project had originally been developed at NBC.
The series, which hails from ABC Studios, centers around a police chief (Allison Tolman) who takes in a young child (Alexa Swinton) that she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.
In addition to Tolman and Swinton, the series also stars Owain Yeoman, Ashley Aufderheide, Robert Bailey Jr., Zabryna Guevara, Donald Faison, and Clancy Brown. Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters will write and executive produce. Paul McGuigan directed the pilot and is an executive producer.
Sources say that ABC was somewhat dissatisfied with its own development slate this year and moved on “Emergence” after NBC passed on the project.

In one of the biggest twists this upfront season, NBC’s genre thriller drama pilot Emergence, starring Allison Tolman, has been picked up — by ABC.
The project, from Kevin (Probably) Saves the World creators/executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, director Paul McGuigan and ABC Studios, was a favorite at the Disney-owned studio. It was bought by NBC instead of ABC last fall during the previous regime at the Disney-owned network. I hear the new top ABC executive team loved the pilot and when word came that NBC was not picking it up to series, they swooped in.
Chatter picked up yesterday that an Emergence move to ABC was imminent. Also yesterday, ABC’s romantic drama pilot The Beauty and the Baker emerged as a dark horse strong contender for a series pickup. I hear negotiations with Universal TV, which produces the adaptation of an Israeli format, are...
