With a premiere booked in for April 2017, the Starz adaptation of American Gods is currently garnering a ton of buzz, as Neil Gaiman’s fable of warring deities prepares to take that defining step onto the small-screen. But Gaiman is already thinking further afield, and we now have official confirmation that the author will develop a six-part miniseries based on Good Omens, the apocalyptic fantasy novel he co-wrote alongside the late, great Terry Pratchett.
Almost a year on from the moment Gaiman began work on the adaptation, Amazon has now struck up a deal with the BBC to bring Good Omens to television. A 2018 release date is the target, when Gaiman’s six-part series will premiere globally via Amazon Prime soon after its UK debut on the BBC. Former Doctor Who producer Caroline Skinner will help executive produce this new series, joined by Chris Sussman, Rob Wilkins, and Rod Brown.

With great writing, a strong cast and a gripping story, Jack Thorne’s 2011 supernatural drama The Fades was one of the best…
According to former BBC Three controller Zai Bennett, fans of The Fades have themselves to blame for Jack Thorne’s superb fantasy drama not being recommissioned. We were too few and too old.
The BBC Three remit aimed to attract 16-34 year olds, Bennett explained at the 2012 Edinburgh International Television Festival. Because The Fades found more love among those with mortgages and middle-age spread than it did with fresh-faced teens and twenty-somethings, it didn’t fulfil that remit.
However much critical acclaim (plaudits from The Guardian, The Telegraph, some website called Den Of Geek) or however many awards (a Bafta for Best Drama, nominations for Best Writer, wins for Best Music and Digital Effects) The Fades received, the kids weren’t down so it had to go.

Steven Moffat says Peter Jackson still intends to direct an episode of Doctor Who, just as soon as he finds the time...
News
To briefly recap for anyone who hasn't followed the undulating waves of this story since we first heard about it last September: Peter Jackson is a big Doctor Who fan. He'd like to direct an episode or two. Steven Moffat and Who's former executive producer Caroline Skinner have said they'd love him to do so. Jackson is very busy making The Hobbit films at the moment.
That's about the measure of it so far, and the latest addition comes from Moffat himself speaking in this month's ace interview with SFX magazine, on sale now. Moffat announced, "I've spoken to him face to face, and he would like to do one. He accepts that there's no money and that there's no time, and it would have to be...

Peter Jackson has confirmed that he still hopes to direct an episode of Doctor Who.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other journalists, the director explained that discussions about his involvement are "actually kind of serious".
"I would be very happy to," Jackson said. "I'd love to try my hand at television, because I've never had the discipline of having to shoot for those impossibly tiny schedules. I think I could do it okay now."
The director went on to joke that the prospective episode might be shot on location, given his own reluctance to work outside of his native New Zealand.
"I did suggest that they did a New Zealand story - something to do with the [rugby union] All Blacks versus the Daleks. There's a good story in there, although obviously the All Blacks would have to win!"

We had a feeling that An Adventure in Space and Time would be aired over the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who celebration weekend, but the exact day and time were still to be specified. Timed just ahead of the show's 50th anniversary, the origins of how "Doctor Who" came to be are explored in the 90-minute narrative drama "An Adventure in Space and Time" which has just locked down air dates.
In the U.K., the telemovie will screen on BBC2 on Thursday, November 21st at 9pm. It will then screen a day later in the U.S., airing on BBC America on Friday, November 22nd at 9pm.
The story revolves around three people: William Hartnell, a veteran actor coming to the end of a frustrating career; Verity Lambert, a former production assistant fighting to make her mark in television; and Waris Hussein, an India-born novice director.
Together they created a genre series that all ages would love. David Bradley, Jessica Raine, Sacha Dhawan and Brian Cox star in the project which will cover the show's genesis and will go all the way through to the first regeneration.

Yes, yes, we know what you're going to say: the Doctor lies, Steven Moffat lies, and there isn't a Father Christmas. Putting that to one side though, Moffat has promised that the mystery of "impossible" companion Clara will be uncovered over the next eight episodes of Doctor Who. He said it in public, in print, and on the world wide web, a place where no untruths or exaggerations exist. Ahem.

Oh, adorable Mathilda Gregory at the Guardian doesn’t understand that women simply don’t like science fiction and don’t read it and have no interest in writing it. Obviously. Because science fiction is a boy thing. Why Doctor Who needs more female writers [S]eason seven of Doctor Who will feature no female scribes at all. Not in the bombastic dinosaurs and cowboys episodes that aired last year, and not in any of the new episodes we're about to receive. In fact, Doctor Who hasn't aired an episode written by a woman since 2008, 60 episodes ago. Is Matt Smith leaving The Doctor behind?
According to The Sun, "Doctor Who's" current leading man is planning to exit the beloved BBC series when his contract expires this November.
“I am very happy doing it. I go and I do the anniversary special, then I go away for a bit. Then I come back and I do the Christmas special. It's sort of one of those jobs that you have to take year by year really because it's 10 months a year. It's all-consuming so I don't think you can plan five, six years ahead or even two years ahead," Smith said on Jonathan Ross’s show last week. "At the moment, it’s 2013 and we will see what 2014 holds.”
But an insider reportedly told the tabloid that the actor has plans to make his exit after the 2013 Christmas special.
Smith's possible departure isn't the only change the series has seen recently.

It never really seemed that Caroline Skinner was the most enthusiastic addition to the crews behind the scenes of "Doctor Who," but that might also be because she is not always the most forthcoming with her emotions. Unfortunately, however, Skinner's time as an executive producer on the series was a short one, as she has decided to move on to the BBC Drama Production department in London. Co-executive producer Caroline Skinner is departing Doctor Who, as she’s returning to BBC Drama Production. Meanwhile, her role for the soon-to-be-filmed 50th anniversary episode will be undertaken by the Head of Drama at BBC Wales, Faith Penhale. One the other persistent rumors is that Steven Moffat will leave, along with eleventh Doctor Matt Smith after the filming of the 50th anniversary episode and that Being Human creator Toby Whithouse will take over his duties. “I have heard the rumors,” the writer said. “No one from the BBC has said anything to me,” he insisted. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t intrigued by the idea, but also it would be terrifying. It’s definitely something I’d be really tempted by but I’m genuinely not in any hurry to do it.” Again, there is no indication they are leaving, but logically, with Skinner departing and...

Peter Davison has said a few words on whether Doctors past will be making an appearance in the 50th anniversary special...
Monday the 18th of March is the date Who producer Caroline Skinner has confirmed the 50th anniversary special will begin filming, and no doubt information as to location and guest stars will begin to filter through when it does. That said, the team is particularly adept at keeping secrets (including, remember, the genuinely surprising reveal of Jenna-Louise Coleman's role in Asylum of the Daleks which wonderfully made it to the screen intact despite the episode having been seen by hundreds of journos and fans), so don't expect to know everything before the credits start. Indeed, why would you want to?
One thing people do seem very keen on knowing though, is how much truth there is to the persistent 'Eleven Doctors' 50th anniversary special rumours.

Doctor Who exec producer Caroline Skinner has said that Neil Gaiman will bring "a new twist" to the Cybermen.
Gaiman's second episode for the sci-fi drama will reintroduce the classic monsters, pitting them against Matt Smith's Doctor once again.
"One of the things that Neil was initially really excited about was being given one of the classic Doctor Who monsters and being able to bring a new twist," Skinner told SFX.
The episode - rumoured to be titled 'The Last Cyberman' - will also see the Doctor "in conflict with the Cybermen in a new way", Skinner hinted.
"[It's] a huge episode for Matt," she revealed. "It's a brilliant performance, that one. It's interesting what Neil does - he always delivers such wonderful visual sequences... but one of his real strengths is that he gets right to the heart of the characters as well."

Last Saturday was a busy day if you were a Doctor Who fan in New York City. The first episode of the new series, Asylum of the Daleks, had its Us premiere at the Ziegfeld Theater, the largest single-screen theater in the city they could lay their hands on. After a minor frenzy to obtain tickets, fans were treated to an hour-long thrill ride as The Doctor and his friends Amy and Rory fought against more Daleks than you could shake an eye-stalk at. But the activity began earlier in the day, as the folks at BBC America made stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, as well as co-producer Caroline Skinner available for interviews to the appreciative hordes of the working press.

As the countdown to Doctor Who’s series seven heads towards its final week, more details have been announced about the “prequel” mini-adventure Pond Life, which begins on Monday 27th August online.
The five part story will air over consecutive days before the whole episode it made available to digital viewers via the Red Button service throughout Saturday prior to series seven opener Asylum of The Daleks.
The short adventure will star the three show leads, Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill as you would expect and writer Chris Chibnall was happy to give a little away on the plot.
“Pond Life provides us with a lovely opportunity to catch-up with Amy and Rory since we saw them at the end of the last series. It opens with the Ponds at home and gives us an insight in to just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives.
