Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not yet watched “The Bachelor” Season 24 premiere.
The new season of ABC’s “The Bachelor” has landed, with Delta pilot Peter Weber leading the franchise into its 24th season. While some of women vying for his heart have already found ways to stand out, it is the surprise return by Hannah Brown that promises to really shake up this season.
During the three-hour premiere, ABC reintroduced Weber, who originated as a contestant on Brown’s Season 15 of “The Bachelorette.” While several other contestants were up for the gig, Weber ultimately won the title after Brown admitted they had sex four times in a windmill during their final date in Greece on “The Bachelorette.”
At the start of his season, 28-year-old Weber welcomed 30 women vying for his heart, including five Texans, three flight attendants, two Victorias and only one woman over 30.

When Prince Adam of Eternia would raise his mighty sword above his head, he could exclaim “I… Have… the… Power!” and with it transform into He-Man. This would turn his pink and maroon body suit into merely a manly loincloth and pec-harness combo. He would be granted a physique that would make Vince McMahon want to give him the main event at Wrestlemania. Most important, he was now the mightiest mortal on his alien world – able to dispense of evil with but a flick of a forearm, and nary a tussle of his pageboy haircut.
When Marc Alan Fishman, Kyle Gnepper, and Matt Wright want to transform from slovenly suburbanite husband-dads into cantankerous comic book creators, they hold up their mighty laminated sign that reads “Can I tell you about my comic book?” and look mildly pathetic. But much like Prince Adam, that singular phrase has bestowed upon the lads...

What better way to teach kids how to count than with the characters, creatures, aliens, and more from the Star Wars universe. I've got a preview for a charming little number book for kids called Star Wars Obi-1 2 3. The book was written by Calliope Glass and Caitlin Kennedy with art by Katie Cook.
The book counts from numbers 1 through 20 and each number comes with a cute poem and illustration. You can see a few examples of that below. StarWars.com interviewed Cook about the book and said:
"It comes from me Loving Star Wars. Really. It’s a franchise I adore, so I try and put as much of stuff everywhere. Fun stuff. Weird stuff. Charming stuff. Cute stuff."
As far as seeing any future kids' books based on the characters from Rogue One, she says:
"You know, I don’t think we’ll see many kids books based off Rogue One characters.

The New York Comic Con is upon us once again, and I can’t wait. This year, as usual, I have a massive list of things I want to see, people I want to talk to, and, of course, merchandise I want to take a gander at (not to buy it, of course. Oh no no no! Certainly not, considering I have way too many collectibles already. I’m just going to look. Really. Just…you know, a little bit. No buying here, nosiree…um). There are also a few cool parties floating around…and you know how I love a good party.
Everyone who goes to Nycc has their own unique wish list of what they want to experience while there. But in case you aren’t sure what you want to see first, here are some of the things I’m most looking forward to. Maybe they’ll appeal to you,...

It’s typically around this time of the year where I admit to you that I feel like giving up on comics. On reading them. On writing them. On drawing them. On attending the innumerous conventions. On being so far on the outskirts of the industry I want so badly to be right in the center of, it feels like the mountain between success and where I stand is nigh insurmountable. Truly from this vantage point, I can’t see even beyond the first plateau before reaching menacing storm clouds.
Why so glum, chum? Well, for starters… My own book, The Samurnauts: Curse of the Dreadnuts is just killing me. Between a full-time job, a plethora of freelance work, and two full-time children? Blake Shelton was caught completely off guard by his romance with Gwen Stefani. The couple has been officially dating since November, but the country crooner is still surprised (in the best way, of course) about how they got together. "It's not something anybody could've seen coming besides God I guess because it doesn't look like it would make sense," Shelton told Cmt's Katie Cook. "All I can tell you is that it does. It just makes the most perfect sense for us and where we're at in our lives." Although their relationship has made them both incredibly happy, nevertheless leading to hit duet "Go Ahead and Break My Heart." But it turns out their love has meant more to them...

There was a shit-ton of Aliens-inspired fan art posted online recently. A lot of the art I’ve come across is from an upcoming art book called Alien Visions by Udon, and here are the artists that provided the art you see below.
The artists whose work you see here include Shane Hillman, Derek Kaufman, Carlos D’ Gonzalo Ordonez Arias, Jaffrey Chamba, Edwin Haung, Long Vo, Tom Whalan, O_8, Livio Ramondelli, Bruce Yan, Ken Christiansen, Jim Mahfood, Whilce Portico, Ray Fawkes, Dan Hipp, John Giang, Seas Dove, Katie Cook, and Pikomaro.

With Katie Cook and Andy Price having last month wrapped up their latest arc on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the series’ reins are taken up by the creative team of Ted Anderson and Jay Fosgitt. What they have is a fun done-in-one issue that puts a surprising spin on traditional masculine sports and hits the attitude behind the series dead on.
The story has most of the main cast take a backseat to the action as the narrative focuses mostly on Rarity. While at a wresting event, she happens upon, of all ponies, Cheerilee, Ponyville’s resident school teacher. It turns out that one of the most famous wrestlers in all of Equestria, and the star of the show, is none other than her estranged twin sister,...

It’s come to my attention as of late that I tend to write mostly negative reviews. Despite the general consensus, I don’t find much in writing bad things about comics. I’d prefer to read good books over bad ones any day. It’s just that I read more things from DC Comics than other publishing companies and that’s come back to bit me. Usually there’s at least one book in the New 52 that I think keeps the entire line not deserving of complete condemnation, but now that Earth 2 has been turned into drek, that’s changed. Pretty much nothing from DC interests me anymore, save for Jeff Parker’s run on Aquaman for being one of the few books that has a sense of fun to it. But right now, I want to take a break from bad mouthing comics. I honestly want to like titles.

This arc is heavily inspired by American Western adventure as it plays on many well established tropes of the genre, has Rarity obsess over cowboy romance fiction, and contains many hilarious shout outs to the like of Clint Eastwood and ‘Blazing Saddles.’ The issue starts out with Longhorn taking over Rancho Bronco, a chili pepper ranch, which effectively promises him ownership of the entire town. First thing is first: I hope you had a most festive holiday – be it Chanukah, Christmas, Festivus, Kwanza, or the Winter Solstice. Second thing is second (geez, now I sound like a Katie Cook Facebook post…): I’m truly perplexed over crowdfunding these days.
Recently I’ve backed a pair of Michigan-based Kickstarter campaigns that were right up my alley. The first was for a table at the upcoming Detroit Fanfare comic book and pop culture convention. Unshaven Comics has attended this show several times, and we’re big fans. The show-runners are nice, honest, and bring a solid block of comic-focused attendees every year. But, as it would seem, their show is under some kind of duress. With a shorter runway then I’ve been privy to seeing prior, they launched a campaign seeking $10,000. My name is Marc Alan Fishman. For eight years now, I have been an active comic book writer, artist, letterer, and publisher. For six years, my company Unshaven Comics has peddled our wares in the artist alleys at dozens of conventions. From the small, such as Kokomo, Indiana, and Orland Park, Illinois, to the large, like C2E2 in Chicago, and the New York Comic Con, we’ve put thousands of miles on our cars in an attempt to break-in to the industry we love nearly as much as our kin. But in all our travels, the furthest west we’ve sauntered was Minneapolis this past spring.
We’ve never been financially viable enough to venture to the Valhalla (or perhaps Ragnarok) of comic book conventions. The San Diego Comic Con is a nearly week-long mecca of geekery. For a small operation such as ours, it stands to dream that...

Comic-Con International has released the schedule for Sunday July 27th. This is the last day of Comic-Con, and they will be closing it out with some big TV panels like Supernatural, Sons of Anarchy and The Strain. There's also a panel for the Batkid documentary that was made. I rarely stay for the whole convention on Sunday, but I think I actually might try to stick around this year and enjoy myself. You can go through the full schedule here, but you'll find some of the highlights listed below.
Supernatural Special Video Presentation and Q&A - Series stars Jared Padalecki (Friday the 13th [2009]), Jensen Ackles (My Bloody Valentine 3D), Misha Collins (Ringer), and Mark A. Sheppard (Battlestar Galactica), along with executive producer Jeremy Carver (U.S. version of Being Human), return to Hall H to answer questions from the audience about what's in store...

Archaia will revive Jim Henson's The StoryTeller as a comic miniseries.
Each of the four issues of The StoryTeller: Witches will recount a different folktale about witches from Europe and beyond, reports Nerdist.
These will be 'The Magic Swan Goose and the Lord of the Forest' by Sm Vidaurri, 'The Snow Witch' by Kyla Vanderklugt, 'The Phantom Isle' by Matthew Dow Smith and 'Vasilissa the Beautiful' adapted by Jeff Stokely from an unproduced teleplay for the original series.
The first series of The StoryTeller was hosted by John Hurt in the eponymous role.
A second, focusing on Greek myths, featured Michael Gambon.
Archaia released a hardback anthology of The Storyteller in 2011.
It featured all-new tales from Katie Cook, Colleen Coover, Chris Eliopoulos, Roger Langridge, Marjorie Liu, Jeff Parker, Paul Tobin, Tom Fowler, Mike Maihack and Evan Shaner and more.
The StoryTeller: Witches #1 will be released on September 17.

Littlest Pet Shop #1
Story by Georgia Ball, Mat Anderson

Colors by Victoria Robado, Diego Rodriguez
Letters by Tom B. Long
Cover by Nico Pena, Katie Cook

Looking at the long list of credits above, it’s baffling to try to comprehend how a comic book, based on a multi-media sensation, can be so unimaginative, and uninspiring. Clearly, this critic isn’t the target audience, but the first issue of Littlest Pet Shop accomplishes little for those not already familiar with the franchise, and nothing for anyone past primary school.
For the unfamiliar, the wildly popular toy line created by Hasbro Studios, launched a half-hour animated comedy series in the 90′s; again in 2005; and once more in 2012. In between Hasbro, alongside various digital media developers, have produced video games for various consoles and over 3,000 different characters. Carrie Underwood brought the lighter and the darker to the red carpet at Wednesday's (June 5) 2013 Cmt Music Awards.
The ever-glamorous "American Idol" alum started her chat by pointing out that it was the birthday of someone quite special to her: husband Mike Fisher, who was right at home at the show, being a Nashville Predators hockey player.
"I feel so bad," Underwood told Cmt's Katie Cook. "He's stuck with me. I said, 'Would you go with me to the Cmt Awards?' He knows a lot of people here on his own, though."
And if that didn't make his birthday night pleasant enough, there was the prospect of a special gift from his spouse later. Though Underwood first claimed it would be "a surprise," she then admitted, "I think he knows what it is. I'm kind of a blabbermouth."
The conversation turned serious, though, when Underwood -- a Video of...

As a rule of thumb (the very same thumb I referenced not seven days ago), I stay away from licensed books. How did I come to that rule? It’s one engrained in my loathing of fan-fiction. Gasp! I’ve never, ever, (ever-ever) appreciated the world of fan-fiction. The whole notion that one’s love of a property goes so far they must appropriate the universe another writer created for their own nefarious purposes seems weak to me. Why limit oneself to the rules of another’s whims when the post-modern world allows for infinite homage, pastiche, and appropriation? Given the pre-sales of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (go Katie Cook!), I’m obviously in the wrong.
But Marc, you fickle bastard, you’ve just argued yourself into a corner! You, who have lamented on countless occasions how you’d love to write for Marvel and DC… don’t...

Country singer Jason Aldean is still feeling the heat over the photos of his makeout session with former "American Idol" contestant Brittany Kerr.
Although Aldean already issued an apology, and Kerr reportedly did not know he was married, the "Don't You Wanna Stay" singer still had to face questions about the incident for a "Cmt Insider" interview airing this weekend.
"You can go hide and run from it, or you can get up and face it and deal with it," Aldean tells "Cmt Insider" host Katie Cook. "And that's kind of what we tried to do and just kind of move on."

In an effort anger the Internet – and save me the time of writing too much – I figured this week I’d take a trip into Fantasy Land. Here is a list, simple and to-the-point, of five books I’d love to see hit the stands. This probably won’t happen unless we’re on Earth 29.
The Avengers: Written by Geoff Johns, Art by Peter Krause.
With his ability to handle a multitude of characters (see his run on Justice Society, or to a lesser degree, Justice League) and draw from countless years of continuity to craft original tales, John’s would deftly deliver a truly epic arc for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Peter Krause (of Irredeemable fame) has an amazing ability to show emotion, and a wide range of your more traditional superheroes. Put together? I think the fans would assemble in droves for a chance to see the premier...
