There’s a trap inherent to making a musical biopic. On the one hand, there’s something undeniably thrilling and crowd-pleasing about seeing a cultural icon like Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, or Elvis Presley come alive on the screen. On the other hand, when audiences buy a ticket to see a movie about a famous musician, they expect to hear their songs. More importantly, they expect to hear their voices.
Music history is filled with artists whose vocal qualities have become iconic in their own right, immediately distinctive and filled with incredible personality. Think of Mercury’s bombastic, four-octave vocal range that very few people on the planet are capable of replicating. Or Houston’s soulful, gospel-inspired technique, or Presley’s often-parodied stuttering Southern drawl. It’s not only difficult for an actor cast as these artists to live up to their singing — sometimes, it’s quite literally impossible.

After serving the entertainment industry for more than a decade, Margot Robbie finally found astronomical success in Hollywood, following her appearances in The Wolf of Wall Street and Barbie. Allow Robert Pattinson to introduce himself once again. He plays more than a dozen different versions of the same character, Mickey Barnes, in the upcoming science fiction thriller Mickey 17, helmed by the acclaimed South Korean filmmaker Bong Joon-ho.
Considering Pattinson’s acting credits from his earlier films, this portrayal appears to be difficult to pull off. As if we needed another reason to love Twilight fame, the skilled actor has once again proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the movie business.

In great news for fans of Baby Yoda, Buzz and Woody, and Disney princesses (as well as Disney shareholders), Disney announced a blockbuster slate of films set for release in 2026.
First up, on May 22, 2026, is “The Mandalorian and Grogu,” a feature expansion of the Emmy Award-winning “The Mandalorian” series that introduced the world to Baby Yoda. No word yet on whether star Pedro Pascal will appear as the title character as he’s done in the streaming series. Jon Favreau is aboard as director.
Next, on June 19, 2026, is “Toy Story 5.” Little is also known about that project but Disney boss Bob Iger revealed in 2023 that another installment of the Oscar-winning franchise was en route.
Finally, on July 10, 2026, Disney will release a live-action version of “Moana” with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This is not to be confused with an animated “Moana” sequel that Disney has set for release later this year.

The nuclear war genre has long been a staple in Tinseltown, with filmmakers putting their own unique spin on the catastrophic scenario. And, when it comes to nuclear, not discussing last year’s Oppenheimer will not do us any favors. Whether it is the ocean eyes of Cillian Murphy or Ludwig Göransson’s relentless score, the film is clearly one of Christopher Nolan’s greatest works.
And it appears that Denis Villeneuve is following in Nolan’s footsteps, as the former may have found his next project in the same genre. The Dune director and Legendary are in talks to collaborate on an adaptation of Annie Jacobsen’s Nuclear War: A Scenario.
Cillian Murphy in and as Oppenheimer
That being said, we are eager to see if Villeneuve’s approach to this dreaded topic will pose a serious threat to Oscar winner Oppenheimer.

Knives Out has become iconic in many different ways. Not only did its cast break the internet, but its approach to the whodunit genre was so unique and intriguing that fans could not help but fawn over its genius. As if Daniel Craig playing the role of Benoit Blanc wasn’t enough, the cast also includes Chris Evans, Ana De Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michael Shannon.
Knives Out
The mystery genre has been around for a very long time, which has made it quite difficult to do something new. Everything has already been done and every twist has been turned far too many times. When something becomes this familiar to audiences, many filmmakers and creators draw inspiration from preexisting works to get what they think are the best parts and make something new.

Ramy Youssef searches for his own superlative in this week’s Saturday Night Live trailer, struggling to find a diversity “first-ever” that hasn’t yet been taken.
“I’m Ramy Youssef, and I’m honored to be the first-ever Arab host of Saturday Night Live,” the comedian says at the trailer’s start, before castmember Kenan Thompson interrupts: “You’re actually not the first [Arab] to host.”
Dissuaded, Youssef tries again: “I’m thrilled to be the first-ever Egyptian host of Saturday Night Live.”
Again, Thompson tells him he’s incorrect. At this, Youssef tries to go specific: “I am thrilled to be the first-ever Egyptian host named Ramy to host Saturday Night Live.”
Again, Thompson tells Youssef he is still incorrect, citing past SNL host Rami Malek.
Youssef then embarks on a monologue of self-reflection: “Whatever, man. Whatever,” he said. “Who cares about being first — it’s dumb. Anyway, it...

“I am honored to be the first Arab host of Saturday Night Live, says comedian Ramy Youssef in the initial promo for his hosting gig.
“I’m sorry to interrupt,” says cast-member Kenan Thompson, “but you’re actually not the first to host.”
A seemingly-embarrassed Youssef then goes on to add a list of qualifiers in hope laying claim to being some kind of “first” in the show’s storied history. Thompson shoots them down one by one until Youssef gets to a designation go granular it’s meaningless. You can watch the bit below.
Youssef is set to host this Saturday, March 30 with Travis Scott serving as the night’s musical host. It’s his first go in Studio 8H.
He is currently promoting his new comedy special titled Ramy Youssef: More Feelings premiering on March 23 via HBO.

Standup comedian, actor and Golden Globe winner Ramy Youssef is hosting SNL for the first time this weekend, and in a just-released promo featuring Kenan Thompson, the star of Hulu’s Ramy explains why he’s so honored to host the iconic sketch series.
The promo begins with Youssef explaining how he’s “honored to be the first-ever Arab host of SNL,” but then Thompson cuts him off and tells him that he’s actually not the first Arab host.
Youssef starts again and says he’s honored to be the show’s “first-ever Egyptian host” before Thompson corrects him once again, telling him he’s “not that, either.”
When Youssef tries a third time, claiming to be SNL’s “first-ever Egyptian host named Ramy,” Thompson finally reminds him that Oscar winner Rami Malek previously hosted the show (October 2021).
Youssef is unimpressed, saying, “Who cares? Being first [is] dumb anyway.

Christian Bale is known for his insane transformations and some of the most critically acclaimed roles in Hollywood. The 50-year-old Oscar winner has worked with some of the greatest directors and delivered some critically and commercially successful flicks. However, he also has a fair share of flop films in his career. Interestingly, many of these projects even came after his highly successful, The Dark Knight Trilogy.
Christian Bale in The Dark Knight Trilogy
Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy is one of the most significant works in Christian Bale’s filmography. His incredible performance as the Caped Crusader in Nolan’s gritty world elevated the trilogy’s quality and made Bale a household name. Surprisingly, even that stardom could not save the American Psycho fame from some of the biggest flops in his career.

When Bruce Willis announced his retirement from acting in 2022 due to his condition, his dream to play one role in a film franchise ended. Willis was a big fan of the James Bond films. After watching Javier Bardem portray an exceptional villain in Daniel Craig’s Skyfall, Willis openly stated in 2013 that he was up for playing a big baddie in the next Bond film.

However, the role of the crime organization leader Ernst Stavro Blofeld in the next film, Spectre, went to Christoph Waltz. Bruce Willis never got the call from James Bond makers, who wrapped up Daniel Craig’s iteration of films in 2021 with No Time to Die.

The Apple TV+ limited series “Masters of the Air” is not exactly lacking in big-name star power. The World War II-era drama is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, the powerhouse team behind two previous Emmy-winning series about America’s greatest generation: 2001’s “Band of Brothers” and 2010’s “The Pacific.” And headlining the cast is Austin Butler, fresh off his Oscar-nominated star turn in “Elvis.”
However it is British actor Callum Turner who emerges as the real star of this ensemble drama, which just concluded its nine-episode run. As the free-spirited, occasionally volatile Major John “Bucky” Egan, Turner gives a haunting performance that both anchors “Masters of the Air” and allows the series to take flight.

At the inaugural Academy Awards in 1929, native Pennsylvanian Janet Gaynor made history as the first American-born performer to win an Oscar by taking the Best Actress prize for her body of work in “7th Heaven,” “Street Angel,” and “Sunrise.” Over the subsequent 95 years, 215 more thespians originating from the United States won the academy’s favor, meaning the country has now produced 68.1% of all individual acting Oscar recipients. Considering the last decade alone, the rate of such winners is even higher, at 70.3%.
At this point, 96.8% of American-born acting Oscar victors have hailed from one of 34 actual states. Of those constituting the remainder, three originated from the federal District of Columbia, while four were born in the territory of Puerto Rico. Masters of the Air was a labor of love for executive producers Gary Goetzman, Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. The Apple TV+ series marks the third and final installment of the trio’s war drama miniseries, after Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
The series took three years to create and cost between $250 million and $300 million to produce, including a hefty $60 million in Covid compliance costs to film during the pandemic. The result was an epic nine-part series with 325 speaking parts and an amazing cast of up-and-coming actors.
