Bet has announced a series of special programs on Tuesday in response to the continued civil unrest across the United States following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.
The first special, “Justice Now: A Bet News Special,” airs on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Et/Pt and will feature dialogue with George Floyd’s family, former NBA player Stephen Jackson, Senator Cory Booker, singer John Legend, Rapper Ti, Pulitzer Prize-winning Journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones, activist Tamika Mallory, NAACP President Derrick Johnson, Princeton University Department of African American Studies Chairperson Eddie Glaude, Scholar Peniel E. Joseph, Emerald Garner (daughter of Eric Garner), youth activists Michael McDowell and Luis Hernandez and other leading African American voices in activism, politics and entertainment to reflect on the killing of George Floyd. Exclusive: Bet has set a series of special programs beginning today “addressing systemic racism, the violence faced by Black people in America and the solutions to help move the country forward” in the wake of the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. The network also is eyeing a Juneteenth Presidential Forum, in which President Donald Trump and presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee, Joe Biden have been invited to share their plans on a range of critical issues. Nat Geo Wild has renewed “Howie Mandel’s Animals Doing Things,” the network announced Sunday.
“We have packed even more hilarious, heartwarming and surprising animal clips into this exciting new season,” said Mandel. “As an animal lover, I am thrilled to team up with Nat Geo Wild for more of ‘Animals Doing Things,’ because there’s nothing better than combining work that you’re passionate about with something you love.”
The series sees Mandel teaming up with Doing Things Media’s Instagram account to bring the internet’s funniest animal videos to life on national television. The videos come from all around the world and feature animals of all breeds, sizes and shapes.
Mandel narrates the “best submissions” from the account, including videos of fainting goats, clumsy kittens and heartwarming interspecies friendships. Each clip is set up by Mandel’s unique comedy style.

Bet Networks is out with its slate for 2018-19, featuring a number of new scripted and reality series along with competitions, specials and awards shows. The cabler said the upcoming year will feature 21% more original programming than 2017-18.

Oxygen announced the expansion of its true crime programming Monday, including 10 new shows and the United States premiere of “Serial Killer With Piers Morgan.”
“Serial Killer With Piers Morgan” will explore the minds of three of America’s “most depraved” serial killers through on-camera interviews with Morgan. Morgan will executive produce with John Ferriter, Will Daws and Stuart Cabb. The show is produced by Plum Pictures and Ferret Productions.
“The response from the true crime community has been overwhelming,” said executive vice president of original programming and development Rod Aissa.

“Buried in the Backyard” looks at cases in which the victim was buried in an unsuspecting place: the backyard.
