Swift has been a music star for half of her life. She was only 16 when her self-titled debut was released in 2006. That country breakthrough was certified seven-times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America for its massive sales, and it earned her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist. But it was her next album that exploded her career.

Taylor Swift doesn’t give a damn about her bad reputation. Or does she?
On her sixth studio album, Reputation, the Grammy winner, 27, plays with perception. Since rising to fame in 2006, Swift’s knack for super-personal storytelling has been a blessing and a curse. She’s one of the best-selling female artists of all-time. But she’s also fallen prey to the pitfalls of fame and, in recent years, has become as well-known for the headlines she makes as the music she releases.
And it’s her experience with fame — and how it’s influenced her reputation — that fuels her latest LP.

Remember Right Said Fred? They haven’t been thought of in quite some time unless somebody happens to play I’m Too Sexy for whatever reason. Now this mashup with Taylor Swift’s Look What You Made Me Do has become a piece of work that’s a little impressive at least. These guys have been going since the 80’s and are still performing obviously since this version of their hit song is fairly new. The blending of the two songs does work, but you’d have to be a serious fan of Taylor Swift and Right Said Fred to really get into for more

We knew Taylor Swift was recently inspired by Right Said Fred, and now it has come full circle, thanks to a new mashup. The British band, which is most famous for its 1990s pop hit “I’m Too Sexy,” recently re-entered the pop culture conversation after Swift’s single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” came out from her new album “Reputation.” Swift had sampled the song’s baseline on the track. So in return, Right Said Fred paid tribute to the pop star with a mashup of their own. Also Read: Here's the Taylor Swift-Right Said Fred...

The old Taylor Swift may be dead, but it seems her squad is very much still alive.
On Sunday, the 27-year-old singer dropped the music video for her new single, “Look What You Made Me Do.” And though the self-referential, Joseph Kahn-directed clip shows Swift dominating over and then destroying her followers at “Squad U” — a fictional factory where lines of identical women follow her rules — one clue in the video appears to give a clue that the pop star’s crew is still at it.

The Beyhive may see similarities between a teaser clip of Taylor Swift‘s video for her biting new single “Look What You Made Me Do” and Beyoncé’s 2016 Lemonade visual album, but Swift’s video director Joseph Kahn isn’t having it.
On Friday night, the Grammy-winning director — who shot Swift’s “Bad Blood,” “Out of the Woods,” “Wildest Dreams” and “Blank Space” videos as well as Destiny’s Child’s “Say My Name” and “Jumpin’ Jumpin'” — tweeted his reaction to fan speculation that Tay was making a dig at Bey.
“I’ve worked with Beyoncé a few times,” he wrote.

Most assume Taylor Swift’s vengeful new single “Look What You Made Me Do” is about her long-standing feud with Kanye West, but is there another possibility? Could it actually be about Arya Stark? While there is no hard evidence or an admission from Swift’s side, Entertainment Weekly’s James Hibberd made the connection, positing what is perhaps the most outrageous “Game of Thrones” fan theory to date. Hibberd provides a surprising amount of evidence that the song was written from Arya’s point of view. Parsing the Right Said Fred-referencing single’s lyrics, he points to a...

Taylor Swift is nothing if not generous. "Look What You Made Me Do," the lead single off her sixth studio album Reputation, debuted at midnight and shot to the top of the iTunes sales charts. Swift wrote the song with producer Jack Antonoff, and it samples Right Said Fred's No. 1 hit "I'm Too Sexy" (first released in 1991). After Taylor's new anthem debuted, Right Said Fred tweeted, "What a marvellous reinvention!" To show their appreciation, Antonoff and Swift gave Fred Fairbrass, Richard Fairbrass and Rob Manzoli songwriting credits, and on Friday, the trio received a floral arrangement. "Look what you made us do," the two musicians wrote. "We love you and can't...

Taylor Swift’s new song, “Look What You Made Me Do,” debuted on Thursday, and if you think the baseline of the chorus sound familiar — well, it is. The baseline was sampled from Right Said Fred’s 1991 hit, “I’m Too Sexy.” BBC reported that Swift’s team approached the band in advance of the release. And right when the song was released, the band tweeted, “Thank you @taylorswift13, what a marvellous reinvention!” Three members of Right Said Fred — Richard Fairbrass, Fred Faribrass and Rob Manzoli — are credited as songwriters alongside Swift and Jack Antonoff, her longtime collaborator. Taylor Swift‘s got a whole new sound with her savage new single, “Look What You Made Me Do.” But if the baseline on the track’s chorus sounds familiar, that’s probably because it’s been sampled from Right Said Fred’s 1991 dance-floor delight “I’m Too Sexy.”

Fred and Richard Fairbrass, the musical duo best known as Right Said Fred, are attending the Afm to talk about their film plans.
The brothers are involved with three films at the moment. UK quirky comedy Meet Pursuit Delange is editing now for a summer 2015 release. The Fairbrass brothers have written two songs that appear in the film. Richard Fairbrass describes the feature as “quintessentially English.”
Howard Webster writes and directs and the film stars Jason Flemyng and Colin Salmon. The brothers appear on screen playing two guardian angels. “It’s a Kafka-esque scene,” Richard says.
They are also working on music for Roger Gual’s Barcelona Connection, which will shoot in spring/summer 2015 in Barcelona, London and Florida. Breaking Bad is over and what a finale it was, although it may have been predictable based on what we knew from the flash forward at the start of the season, it still didn’t disappoint and was full of stirring and thrilling moments. More importantly, now that this is over, Netflix crucially need to up their game.
Hansel and Gretel and Texas Chainsaw, two pretty dire entries from earlier this year, just are not going to cut it against Argo and The Perks of Being a Wallflower regardless of who did what at the box office. Netflix seem to have the monopoly on quality catalogue titles this week with some little seen gems with Permanent Midnight and Orange County but this means nothing to the public and mostly registers with nerds like me.

On Saturday, June 22, in celebration of the birthday of Peyo, the creator of the Smurfs (born June 25, 1928), Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation will once again coordinate events all over the world as part of Global Smurfs Day, a worldwide event in anticipation of the release of The Smurfs 2, in theaters July 31.
This will be the second celebration of Global Smurfs Day in what is quickly becoming a tradition. In 2011, the round-the-world events included painting one of the famous White Towns of Andalusia blue and setting a new record for Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Smurfs within a 24-hour Period (Multiple Venues).
This year, the studio has lined up an equally impressive program of events, highlighted by a worldwide Smurf Ambassadors initiative, in which over 40 ambassadors from 28 countries will represent Smurfs fans from around the world with a special day of events celebrating Peyo’s creation. The ambassadors – celebrities,...

"The Vampire Diaries" has some fresh blood this year, and we promise you're going to love her. In last week's premiere, you met Pastor Young, the fanatical preacher who blew up the entire Founder's Council in a suicide mission that's sure to have dire repercussions. Before he did, though, he wrote a letter -- to his daughter, April.
Grace Phipps plays the 16-year-old spitfire, who returns to Mystic Falls after a few years away to attend her father's funeral. When we first meet her, she's worried that the entire town will resent her father for not getting his gas gauges checked ... because, of course, the police have dismissed the tragedy as a gas leak.
A human orphan who is about to be sucked into vampire madness, April is a little bit Season 1 Elena, with the sarcastic humor of our dearly departed Anna. "I've done a lot of work with Nina,...

Who will win Big Brother 14? Will it be Dan, the masterful Svengali who deceived Danielle like a regular Lon Chaney? How about Ian, the nervous newbie who is definitely pacing at this second? Or what about Danielle, the underdog who pretty much doesn't deserve to be in the house? I'm torqued to find out (and I'm rooting for Dan, bien sur), but before we conclude this season, let's take a look back at nine times when Big Brother 14 didn't mind going a little gay.
1. Ian's exhibitionism
Sudden nudity, erratic disco dancing, self-spanking -- Ian was a wacky little freak in the first episodes of Big Brother 14. Though he eventually cooled, he was a flitty twink in pink boxer shorts for a little while there. Personally, I relished it.
2. The exotic headwear at the first coaches' challenge
Remember when the coaches were actually coaches? I know, barely. The one good thing...

Simon Cowell was reportedly once secretly engaged to a Page 3 girl. The 52-year-old music mogul apparently proposed to glamour model Louise Payne - who he met in 1995 following the breakdown of her marriage to Right Said Fred star Fred Fairbrass - but was devastated when their three-year romance collapsed because she wanted to start a family. A source said: 'Simon was heartbroken. They tried to make it work but it all went wrong. 'It was just before he started on 'Pop Idol'. Louise wanted kids and he knew he wasn't ready. 'He never stopped loving her, though. He was heartbroken.' According to the Daily Star newspaper, which Louise modelled for, the pair first swapped numbers at a function...

You know how you can tell the guy you're sleeping with is secretly a douchebag? By checking out his iTunes and seeing if he has a "songs to bone to" playlist, or if he's listened to "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors an inordinate number of times. Apparently, the same methodology applies to determining whether or not someone is a murderous dictator, if the recently unearthed e-mails from Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad's iTunes account are any indication. According to the Guardian, the man responsible for the brutal deaths of thousands has rather eclectic — and, if we're speaking frankly, rather shitty — musical tastes, ranging from country star Blake Shelton to '90s one-hit wonder Right Said Fred. Although Assad's iTunes account is registered to another name — presumably due to U.S. sanctions prohibiting Assad and other Syrian government officials from engaging with &[...]...

(click to enlarge) Well, close the laptops and put the turkey in the oven, because this holiday weekend just officially kicked off with the above photo, because it’s the greatest thing to happen all year and we can seriously, for really real give Thanks this Thursday for its existence. Yes, that’s 6’7″ actor Stephen Merchant leaving the BBC Radio One studios with 3’6″ actor Warwick Davis — the ultimate Tally-Smally duo. They appeared together to discuss their new TV show called Life’s Too Short, a show described by co-creator Ricky Gervais as the “life of a showbiz dwarf.” He went on to describe the show as “a cross between Extras and Curb your Enthusiasm and One Foot in the Grave but with a dwarf,” which if I’m not mistaken — Yes? What’s that? Got it. — this is officially the best show description of all time. The show also boasts some big time celebrity cameos,...

Last week saw the release of Blitz on Blu-ray and DVD. If you’re not aware, it’s the latest outing from Jason ‘The Stath’ Statham, who is fast becoming a genre in his own right.
In order to celebrate this, the crazy PR Team behind the release decided to hold a special screening of the film last Thursday in London’s Soho. However this was no free for all. Oh no, there was one key condition for entry: you had to bear a passing resemblance to the man himself. Now sadly, despite not hitting the grand old age of 30 yet, my hair has already upped and left, leaving me with no other way of ever looking cool unless I try and emulate the look of the great man himself. So, with my designer stubble at optimum levels,...

This week's news in the arts
London Fashion Week drew to a close yesterday, leaving us with only memories and a thousand photographs. But while fashion and photography have long been soul mates, the catwalk has also made a strong showing across film, music and literature – well beyond Naomi Campbell's classic Swan, and Lauren Weisenberg's seminal The Devil Wears Prada. Eighties sparring partners Bret Easton Ellis and Jay McInerney covered the territory with Glamorama (1998) and Model Behaviour (2007) respectively. A portrait of the empty world of the catwalk, Easton Ellis's anti-hero keeps himself entertained by joining a male model terrorist group.
In fact, the model caught up in world events is a recurring theme. As Zoolander's Derek Zoolander says: "I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good-looking." It turns out that more is saving the world from the evil Mugatu during the course of a fashion show.

In a new online feature, Rolling Stone released the results of a poll asking readers to vote for the worst songs of the 1990s -- a decade that, truth be told, brought the world some amazing music (Nirvana, anyone?).
Aqua's "Barbie Girl" topped the list, followed by the ubiquitous "Macarena" and Billy Ray Cyrus' "Achy Breaky Heart."
10. 4 Non Blondes, 'What's Up?'
9. Right Said Fred, 'I'm Too Sexy'
8. Baha Men, 'Who Let The Dogs Out?'
7. Celine Dion, 'My Heart Will Go On'
6. Hanson, 'MMMBop'
5. Chumbawamba, 'Tubthumping'
4. Vanilla Ice, 'Ice Ice Baby'
3. Billy Ray Cyrus, 'Achy Breaky Heart'
2. Los Del Rio, 'Macarena'
1. Aqua, 'Barbie Girl'
There are at least two songs we were surprised to find left out of the mix:

You know me, I'm not overly fond of cute animal links unless they're dinosaur related. But Friday's aren't about me, they're about you, dear readers. And as much as I try to fight it, I can't deny that you love your cute animal things. So here, interspersed amongst talk of live crabs in vending machines and Right Said Fred, is a heavy dusting of Pajiba Loves Animals links. Enjoy! We'll start with this link from the lovely Mrs. Julien which lists 15 Cute Animals That Could Kill You. Why don't I know anyone named Loris? I would call her "Slow Loris" every damn day. (Mother Nature Network)
Another thing I don't get? Nutella. Why not just eat chocolate? It's chocolate-y-er! For those of you who love Nutella and want to smother a slow loris in it, this Food Pyramid, courtesy of Lainey, is for you. (Skull Swap)
My least favorite animal?...

Normal 0 false false false En-us X-none X-none San Diego Comic-Con 2011: X-Play Panel
If you're a true video game fanatic, you have at least two televisions set up side-by-side, because how else could you watch G4's X-Play? The series is one of the most reliable sources of news, reviews and previews for video games anywhere, and on top of that, it's pretty damn entertaining to watch.
So, naturally we made sure to attend the X-Play panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2011. Here's how it went:
The panel opened with its hosts and personalities led in by a Stormtrooper and Jedi honor guard, presumably demonstrating video games' ability to bring absolutely everyone together. It included Kristin Adams, Blair Herter, Morgan Webb and Adam Sessler and was hosted by Wade Beckett. The first question was whether the panelists were excited more for Gears of War 3 or Resistance 3, but even though Gears' executive...

Super Mario has never been cool. Yes, he’s probably the most beloved videogame character in the world, and yes, he’s the star of some of the best videogames ever made. But Mario is beloved because of his goofy nobility: He’s a regular blue-collar dude with a Deadwood mustache, and he always does the right thing, whether that means rescuing a princess or providing financial support for his tragic brother, Luigi. He’s the Jimmy Stewart of videogame heroes.

Here’s hoping American Idol judges Randy Jackson and Jennifer Lopez were tuning in for the sophomore outing of Platinum Hit, Bravo’s new reality competition for the songwriting set. Judges Kara DioGuardi, Jewel, Trevor Jerideau, and special guest Donna Summer provided the kind of succinct, specific feedback that was all too infrequent during Idol‘s recently concluded 10th season.
Monday night’s episode found the 11 remaining contestants writing hooks for a pre-recorded dance track; the winning three composers then chose teams from the remaining songwriters and hit the studio to create full tracks that were road-tested for a crowd of L.

The theme for tonight’s Top 12 performance show on American Idol is the old chestnut, “Songs From the Year You Were Born,” first employed in season 4, back when Idol contestants were born in the 1970s. Now we have a contestant, Thia Megia, who was born the year I got my driver’s license. But more importantly, what should these 12 kids sing tonight? As luck would have it, there are plenty of Aerosmith songs potentially at their disposal, including “Dude (Looks Like a Lady),” “Janie’s Got a Gun,” “Love in an Elevator,” and “Cryin’” — but chances are only one contestant will grab that opportunity.

Tom Hooper may not pick up the award for best director but Academy Awards matter less to such a high achiever, says Catherine Shoard
The odds are that Tom Hooper won't be named best director this Sunday. What that will make him, by default, is the year's most discreet. For although the cast, composer and writer of The King's Speech seem shoo-ins – and the film itself may well win best picture – Hooper himself looks likely to lose out.
An insult? Was he really the one thing that let the side down? No: it's a compliment. Hooper has helmed an awards-gorger of a movie, an underdog the size of a bus that's steamrollered the competition into submission, and no one really noticed there was a driver. A story in last week's Evening Standard said that "Peter Hooper" was irked by accusations of historical inaccuracy. This is the man behind the biggest Britflick in years.
