After 105 years as the Cleveland Indians, the MLB team unveiled a new name Friday, the Cleveland Guardians, to sighs of relief from fans ready to leave the culturally insensitive branding in the past - but mostly to “Guardians of the Galaxy” jokes.
The Ohio MLB team announced its name change in a slick new promotional video that featured narration from Tom Hanks and a score courtesy of the Black Keys. In addition to the name, the organization also introduced a new logo, a baseball flanked by a G with a pair of wings. The video's sincere tone was undercut by one big elephant in the room though. Actually, make that one big anthropomorphic tree.

Comedians Join Forces to Parody Gal Gadot’s Star-Studded ‘Imagine’ Video: ‘Imagine There’s No Keto…’
Josh Wolf and a host of other comedians used their coronavirus quarantining downtime to create a parody video of Gal Gadot’s instantly-viral “Imagine” video.
The clip — featuring Jeffrey Ross, Sarah Colonna, Jon Ryan, Joey Fatone, Sinbad and Brittany Furlan, among others — starts out, “Imagine there’s no keto / you have to eat mostly carbs / I bought up all of the Purell / just to wash my car.”
The rest of the lyrics make references to other hobbies and escapes enjoyed primarily by the wealthy, like dodging urban quarantines by heading to vacation homes or “only” having three cars. When Gadot posted her star-studded version of John Lennon’s “Imagine” Wednesday, one of the immediate criticisms was that it was tone-deaf for featuring rich celebrities who are quarantining in their large homes, recording themselves singing instead of making donations to relief efforts.

This reunion seems to have been recorded before the entire series has aired, so who knows if any of the participants had the change to see what horses’ fannies some of them have been? Hopefully the producers will show some key moments so we get to see the group’s reaction to some of the behaviors of their fellow participants. I was hoping that tonight’s moderator was going to be Josh Wolf of Naked After Dark fame, he’s hilarious and has a sense of humor that would dissipate tension. Chelsea Handler hit the beach with fellow comedian Josh Wolf in the Bahamas on Saturday, cooling off in the ocean in a tiny blue bikini with a white hat. Chelsea and Josh were in town to perform a stand-up show at the Atlantis Paradise Island during the Memorial Day weekend; Josh, who appeared as a recurring panelist on Chelsea's former late-night show, Chelsea Lately, opened for her performance. Seeing Chelsea's impressive body is nothing new for her fans, though she was decidedly more covered during her recent beach day than in many of her social media photos. The 40-year-old doesn't shy away from showing her boobs on Instagram - even while riding a horse - and most recently, Chelsea got cheeky by sporting a pair of bikini bottoms with Harry Styles's name printed on the back. The cable network isn’t chickening out after announcing the after-show with surprisingly little fanfare last month – it’s changing the name and the host, to the much better Naked After Dark, and to Josh Wolf, respectively. Since "Sharknado" become a phenomenon, the Discovery Channel decided to bring actress Tara Reid for its "Shark After Dark" talk show panel, which is part of the channel's Shark Week. It turns out that being cast in "Sharknado" doesn't mean that you have to know a single thing about sharks. In fact, Reid admitted that the first time she did any research on the topic was in preparation for the show. She said: "I don't wanna sound stupid when I do this show today, so I learned a little education on sharks. I look up sharks on the Internet and I see whale sharks. So I'm like that must mean that a whale and a shark have sex and then it made me think how do a whale and a shark have sex?" At this point it became clear that Reid's attempt to sound smart was backfiring. So she decided...

Think Discovery Channel is fazed by the backlash that greeted the fake Megalodon documentary that kicked off its Shark Week on Monday? Not when its new late-nighter Shark After Dark made chum out of the talk show competition again Tuesday. The Josh Wolf-hosted talker bit off 1.19M total viewers, topping Conan, The Daily Show, Colbert et al. for the second consecutive night. It also beat the competition in the key demos. Shark Week programming led Discovery to win the Tuesday primetime cable race outright in adults 25-54 and several other demos, with Spawn Of Jaws and I Escaped Jaws ranking as cable’s highest-rated shows in 18-49. No official numbers yet in the seals 0-40 demo.

Sharknado! star Ian Ziering has been added to the guest list on Discovery Channel‘s first Shark Week after-show, Shark After Dark. Also signed: original Baywatch star David Hasselhoff, shark-diving WWE Wrestler Justin Gabriel, world-level surfer Laird Hamilton, as well as Alison Sweeney and Tom Green, despite their lack of known shark connections. Shark After Dark premieres tonight and will air each night during Shark Week from 11-midnight Et/Pt. Josh Wolf — best known for his regular appearances on E’s Chelsea Lately — is hosting, despite having no love for sharks. Back when Shark After Dark was announced — from after-show impresario Michael Davies (The Talking Dead, Watch What Happens Live) and CBS late-night host/avid Shark Week fan Craig Ferguson — Discovery Channel said it was lining up guests for its first late-night Shark Week after-show who were Shark Week-passionate or had shark connections.

New York — Comic Josh Wolf may not want to hear the word "shark" after next week, much less bump into one.
Discovery has given him a unique assignment: host an hour-long talk show for five nights in a row on the menacing beast, a new wrinkle in the network's annual "Shark Week."
"Shark After Dark" will debut Sunday at 11 p.m. Edt.
Wolf, who's a recurring character on Fox's "Raising Hope" and perhaps best known as a regular guest on E! Entertainment's "Chelsea Lately," said he's looking forward to the challenge.
"Not only have I always been fascinated with `Shark Week,' I've always wanted to do a late-night talk thing," he said. "That's been on the bucket list. This kills two birds with one stone."
So how do you fill an hour each night with chatter about a creature that does all its talking with its teeth?

Mark Cuban, of course, stars in ABC’s Shark Tank. Close enough. Lost fave Dominic Monaghan now stars in BBC America’s nature show, Wild Things With Dominic Monaghan which that network announced is returning for another season in 2014. And Tara Reid is enjoying a career resuscitation as one of the two-legged scenery chewers in Syfy’s flick/media darling Sharknado! which, in its third run on the network, snagged its biggest audience yet — 2 mil plus. In a late comedy buy, NBC has given a script commitment to Married With Roommate, a multi-camera comedy from Seinfeld alum Spike Feresten. The project, about a young married couple that moves into a house with their single bachelor friend in an upscale San Francisco suburb, is being produced by Universal TV and BermanBraun. This is Feresten’s second NBC comedy project in 2 years. Last year, he had an twentysomething ensemble half-hour starring Nick Thune set up at the network. In addition to Married With Roommate, CAA-repped Feresten has a half-hour script in contention at Fox this year, a single-camera starring Josh Wolf which Feresten and Wolf are co-writing with Michael Morris.

Tonight we have another instance of "Monday Night Football" happening on a night that is actually Monday which is comforting. There's a show premiering on ABC Family that is based around the always entertaining and not at all gimmicky premise of long lost twins, one of whom was in the foster system and one of whom was adopted by wealthy parents who decide to switch places. First of all, who adopts one identical twin and not the other and secondly, unless it's a delightful romp with Hayley Mills or possibly the adorable child that Lindsay Lohan used to be the whole twins switching places thing is not a great idea. Also, do twins actually ever switch places? Do we have any identical twins here who can let me know? Thanks. Here's your Monday night TV:

Tonight we have the return of football (even if it's only preseason football) and the months long passive aggressive comment war between the people who love football and the people who don't care for it much but insist on informing us that they don't care for it much Every Single Time it comes up. Listen, I get it. Some of you aren't football people and that's cool. We all have our preferences. Me? I hate mushrooms. And coconut. However, the football season is long and it only seems longer if you take every opportunity to remind us that you don't like football, usually in a way that implies that it somehow makes you smarter or culturally superior. Unless you can figure out a really clever way to say it, in which case dive right in. I will enjoy wit over originality any day. Here's your Thursday night TV:

Tonight, Discovery seems to be airing a non-Shark Week themed show since "One Man Army" is airing at its usual time. I've checked the episode description and nowhere does it mention Anything about sharks so that's frustrating and confusing. They've managed to make episodes of "Mythbusters" and "Dirty Jobs" that were Shark Week themed so I don't know why they can't just do that for all shows that air during Shark Week. And since the same company owns TLC and Discovery channel maybe they could send a few sharks over to "Toddlers and Tiaras" to get these parents to have a little perspective. "What's that? Your little girl doesn't like it when you bleach her hair because it burns? That's a shame. We've got someone to help you deal with those feelings. Actually, several someones. Or somethings. We call the big one Bitey." Here's your Wednesday night TV:

Because I'm currently job hunting I don't always have a firm grasp on things like "what day it is" or "am I wearing pants" (seriously, have we all decided that yoga pants count or no? No, then. Ok, that's cool) so I briefly got excited with all the Harry Potter pictures because I thought it might be premiering this weekend but No. Stupid internet. Anyway, it means that I'm far more underwhelmed by tonight's television offerings than I would be otherwise. And really, real housewives and "Big Brother" are happening on the same night? So it's just turned into a vortex of "your life is boring so here, watch these other people's boring lives to feel better because we're still pretending that's entertainment" and bleh. Almost makes me want to cancel cable. Then I remember it's included in my rent. For now. Here's your Thursday (right? Yeah, ok, good.) night...

It doesn't really matter if you think Chelsea Handler's talk show is funny or not, because the TV casting gods have decided that it is.
Five -- count 'em five -- 'Chelsea Lately' comedians have secured lead and supporting roles on network TV shows this fall, and that's not counting how many guest spots the rest of them are probably lining up. So has the 'Chelsea Lately' roundtable become the new casting couch?
Now we should note that these aren't the first lucky/intrepid stand-ups to try to hit it big without Handler: Jen Kirkman famously quit her gig at 'Chelsea' to write for 'Perfect Couples' on NBC, but came back when that show got canceled. And roundtable regular Josh Wolf appeared on several episodes of 'Raising Hope' last season, but never really quit his "day job.

Earlier in the week some of you were suggesting that I drop the "Intern" part of my name since I have graduate. It's very kind of you, but puts me in a bind because I'm the one who chose the term "Intern Rusty" so that prospective employers googling me didn't necessarily turn up discussions of thrush and what shows are best for the casual viewer who appreciates handsome men but not plot. (I have a fairly unusual name.) However, I am open to the idea of a new title so if you've got suggestions please let me know. Here's your Thursday night TV:

I've had someone point out that my time for "WWE: Raw" is apparently inaccurate for wherever they are twice now. I'd like to apologize, first of all, in case this individual missed the first hour of "Raw" when all the important plot lines are established and thus spent the second hour wondering why all these greasy men in swim trunks were throwing each other around the ring. I know that it's hard to follow the subtleties of such a show without all the information presented up front. However, I'd also like to remind all of you that whatever I put here is subject to local scheduling abnormalities and time zone weirdness. Most of the shows I list are listed by their Eastern time slots, so if you aren't blessed enough to live in the correct time zone then please always double check with a local source for anything you really don't want to miss.

TV is a bit confusing tonight, as there's at least one show having it's "Time Slot Premiere" that was on last night ("Jon Benjamin Has a Van") another show which I literally did not know existed until yesterday is premiering tonight ("Happily Divorced") and "Toddlers and Tiaras" is coming back. I think that last one is happening for reasons that have everything to do with the fact that the universe is a bleak and empty place devoid of a loving and just God. Also there's the Stanley Cup final game, but if you're not a big hockey fan the series has already given us the very best thing we could have hoped for in the form of this video of Rachel McAdams hamming it up for the Jumbotron during Game 4. Honestly, as much as "Toddlers and Tiaras" pushes me towards nihilism, the exuberance of Ms.McAdams's chair dance pushes me back in the other direction.

The fifth game of the NBA finals is on tonight and if you've been following along at all, you'll know that the series is tied up at 2-2. The games I've seen so far (the first three, I missed the last one because of work and will be missing tonight's game for the same reason) have been back and forth the whole time and incredibly exciting. Except I don't really want exciting, because I'd just like the Heat to win. Frankly, it's probably a little better for my sanity that I won't be able to get any information on the game other than what the little Espn app on my phone is able to tell me. Anyone who's not watching basketball tonight, I hope you're either big "So You Think You Can Dance" fans or have some nice DVDs to get through because otherwise you're Sol. Today is Thursday which means that I got woken up by the delightful noise of my complex's dumpster being emptied (how is it that it's always so far away when you're carrying trash but sounds So Close when they dump it?) and as far as television goes it means next to nothing anymore. However, I know you "So You Think You Can Dance" fans are legion and there's another audition episode on tonight so that's, you know, auditiony. Also the second game of the NBA Finals but I'm not sure how popular the Dallas Mavericks are and I know that most people following the Heat are doing so more out of hatred of LeBron James or the idea that the team was able to manipulate the free agent system to basically buy themselves a Finals appearance than actual appreciation. I am not one of those people. Here's your Thursday night...

Happy Towel Day! I hope all of you have been spending your day in appreciation of the genius of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Discussion question for the evening: has the emergence of tablet PCs and the iPad give us actual Hitchhiker's Guides? Hell, even smart phones at this point have given us the ability to access a wealth of information and directions from virtually anywhere. Well, anywhere with cell service so depending on which carrier you're with... whenever you're near a major city or suburban area if you're lucky. The bottom line is that I really want a cover for my cell phone that says "Don't Panic" on it in large, friendly looking letters. Here's your Wednesday night TV:

Dear readers; today is the day that I walk across a stage and shake hands with Donna Shalala to signify that I have completed the coursework required to earn my Masters degree from the University of Miami. I won't be receiving the Actual degree for another few weeks, but there are so many places in life where appearances are what matter and according to my family who have come to Miami to watch those ten seconds happen, this is one of those times. Besides, fetching the mail is never a good excuse to buy a fancy new dress and shoes and send out announcements. In fact, this column will be posted right around the time my commencement ceremony wraps up, so if you're feeling generous please spare a thought for me and the difficult job search that's in my immediate future. Also, I really hope the world doesn't end on...
