The special offers a deep dive into Rosenfeld’s Jewish background, taking audiences through the experience of sitting shiva (the formal seven-day period of mourning a loved one) and the many fundraising events at which he so often takes the stage. Rosenfeld also pokes fun at the differences between Sephardic and Ashkenazi Jews, offering insight through humor into the nuances of Jewish identity.
Currently on his “Know Your Audience Tour,” Rosenfeld is set to perform for a sold-out audience at The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. on April 11th. Born in Tel Aviv, Rosenfeld emigrated with his family to the United States at the age of seven, growing up on Long Island and...

Mayor Eric Adams (D-New York) has expressed his desire to end the city’s sanctuary city policy and suggests that migrants “suspected” of major crimes should be handed over to federal immigration officials.
This proposal represents a potential shift in New York’s approach to protecting undocumented individuals.
In a press conference at City Hall, Adams stated, “I want to go back to the standards of the previous mayors who I believe subscribe to my belief that people who are suspected of committing serious crimes in this city should be held accountable.”
Adams emphasized the need to return to the standards set by previous mayors, such as Ed Koch and Michael Bloomberg, who allowed police to detain those arrested and charged for longer periods, which enabled U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to issue detainers.
However, the current rules established under former Mayor Bill de Blasio provide a level of...

The “Trump Links” sign, named after former President Donald Trump, was removed from the Ferry Point golf course in New York City and replaced with a sign reading “Bally Links,” named after Bally’s Corporation.
This Bronx golf course was operated by the Trump Organization from 2015 to 2023.
The “Trump Links” sign could be seen from the Whitestone Bridge for almost ten years.
Last week, New York City Mayor Eric Adams cut the ribbon to unveil the new “Bally Links” sign.
“This day is about so much more than the changing of a sign,” Adams declared. “For far too long, this beautiful borough has been sitting on the sideline of the progression of our city. I want to thank Bally’s for having the vision, and I’m excited about the opportunities that will come out of this partnership.”

The city of New York is nearing a settlement to pay $13.7 million as part of a class action lawsuit brought forth by nearly 1,400 people involved in the George Floyd protests.
The settlement, filed Wednesday in a Manhattan federal court and pending a judge’s approval, would pay roughly $9,950 apiece to 1,380 protestors who “were arrested and/or subjected to force by NYPD officers” and had their First Amendment rights suppressed in late May and early June 2020.

Fox News’ Jesse Watters is having a busy week, displaying all the talent that has led him to being the host of “Jesse Watters Primetime” and chief instigator on “The Five.”
Here’s a quick list. (1) He pissed on helping the homeless: “You can’t subsidize antisocial behavior you have to stigmatize it. These are people that have failed in life and they’re on their deathbed.” 2. He casually explained that Donald Trump was just “sifting through [documents] and determining which were personal and which were presidential.” 3. He compared not letting Rfk Jr. come on his show to making a girl beg for a date. 4. He misidentified “The Five” panel member Jessica Tarlov as “Katie.” 5. In another episode, Watters cut off Tarlov, aka Katie, and threatened to “smack” her with his copies of the Presidential Records Act.
This kind of behavior is not out of character for Watters, who said last...

The New York Police Department’s violent tactics during the 2020 protests against police violence and racial injustice could cost New York City and its taxpayers between $4 and $6 million thanks to a new settlement.
New York City has agreed to pay $21,500 each to the approximately 300 people who were arrested June 4, 2020 while demonstrating in the Bronx. Those who were given Desk Appearance Tickets instead of summonses, and were thus detained longer, will be eligible for an additional $2,500. Chris Wallace put Andy Cohen in the hot seat during Friday’s episode of “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?”, asking if the reality TV mogul was embarrassed by “The Real Housewives” franchise.
In a rousing interview, the CNN anchor rolled clips of some of the Bravo series’ most dramatic moments, including physical altercations between the cast members.
“Are you at all embarrassed by what you do?” he asked Cohen.
“No, I’m really not,” he replied without hesitation. “Because it makes so many people happy.”
Cohen said audiences get out of “Real Housewives” what he got from watching “All My Children” as a child: an escape from reality.

Kevin Hart isn’t holding back when it comes to CNN.
The comedian slammed the network for barring New Year’s Eve co-hosts Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper from drinking on-air during the live broadcast.
“What’s going on? I can’t believe this right now,” Hart said while video-chatting with the duo from Las Vegas. “I’m watching you guys and you’re completely sober. This is disappointing. You’re sober. What’s happening? What is happening right now?”
Hart continued, “You guys can’t say anything about it but I can. I can say things about it. This is absolute bullshit. I don’t like it one bit. I’m going to say what you want to say. This is absolute horseshit. I can’t believe this.”
Co-host Cooper was uncontrollably laughing while Hart started doing tequila shots from his own liquor brand, Gran Coramino.

“They brought us back for another year,” Andy Cohen crowed at the beginning of CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage from Times Square. But “there’s some stipulations this year, some fine print.”
Cohen and Cooper were famous for drinking liberally during their previous stints covering the traditional Times Square countdown. Cohen in particular became notorious for his alcohol-fueled diatribes, which last year took down New York Mayor Bill de Blasio and TV personality Ryan Seacrest. As a result, CNN ruled that drinking was out on this year’s live broadcast.
The drinking ban was addressed at the top.
“We can’t drink,” said Cohen, emphasizing that with a slight jump. “But that’s fine.” Cooper asked if Cohen would be “able to make it” through the broadcast. His partner quipped, “Do I have a pocket of edibles? I don’t know. This is a long night. This is a telethon with no disease.

There’s no love lost between Kathy Griffin and Andy Cohen.
Just hours before the world turns the page on 2022, the 62-year-old comedian conjured up a 2017 clip in which the Bravo TV executive tells a TMZ photographer he didn’t know Griffin. The 5-year-old video filmed at Los Angeles International Airport came not long after Cohen was tapped to replace Griffin as Anderson Cooper‘s co-host for CNN’s “New Year’s Eve Live” show.
In the video, the photographer peppers Cohen with questions about Griffin, but time and again Cohen pretends he’s never heard of the comedian.
“Who?” Cohen sarcastically asked. “I don’t know her.”
In her caption, Griffin claimed that “every year someone sends me this clip around New Year’s Eve.” She added, “This guy was my boss for years. Decided whether or not I worked at Bravo. Can you imagine seeing your ex boss on TMZ like…...

Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper have only been hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve Live for five years, but they already feel like an institution — or at least a towering testament to the eternal beauty of tipsy live television. The show is decisively more sauced and debauched than any other New Year’s Eve program out there, which isn’t to say it’s a total drunken mess. But it’s that endearingly unhinged quality, the sense that Cooper, and especially Cohen, are always one sip away from doing something genuinely embarrassing,...

Every year, the most-watched New Year’s Eve coverage is ABC’s “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve,” hosted by Ryan Seacrest since 2006, and CNN’s coverage of the holiday, which has been hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen since 2018. This year’s CNN broadcast promises to be a slightly less boozy event than usual — and in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Seacrest weighed in on the decision from his show’s closest rival.
“I don’t advocate drinking when one is on the air. I don’t know how that started as a tradition, but it’s probably a good idea [to scale back], CNN,” Seacrest said.
During last year’s coverage, Cohen threw a few digs at the ABC show and Seacrest while inebriated on air, referring to the show as “Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers that are performing behind us” and saying, “I mean, with all...

Pour one out for CNN’s anchors, who will not be pouring one out this New Year’s Eve. The Warner Bros. Discovery-owned cable news channel is asking correspondents and anchors to remain (mostly) sober for the holiday.
As reported by Variety, CNN CEO Chris Licht reportedly told staffers at a Tuesday town hall that he wanted on-camera talent to refrain from drinking during the channel’s annual New Year’s Eve coverage. Licht, who took the position of CEO this May, reportedly wants his first New Year’s Eve at the network to be a teetotal affair due to fears that on-screen drinking damaged the “respectability” of CNN as a news source.
Each year, CNN devotes considerable airspace to documenting New Year’s Eve celebrations throughout the country, primarily those in New York City like the famous Times Square ball drop, as well as in Nashville and New Orleans.

As 2022 goes out, so too will a recent holiday tradition: During CNN’s broadcast of various New Year’s Eve celebrations, Don Lemon probably won’t be downing shots on camera.

New York City’s film office has a new chief, Kwame Amoaku, who’s got a goal fit for the five boroughs: to grow production beyond its record-setting pre-pandemic levels. In an interview with IndieWire, Amoaku said he’ll provide “concierge service” to film and TV production, streamlining the permitting process, balancing community and industry needs, and boosting the city’s crew base and infrastructure.
It won’t be easy. But if he can make it here…
Amoaku comes to New York with some three decades of experience in production: He worked as location manager for NBC’s “Chicago Fire,” and his career has included a long list of call-sheet positions from actor and director to production coordinator. He was tapped for the deputy commissioner position at the New York Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (Mome) last month after serving as the director of the Chicago Film Office...

Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Friday he plans to run for Congress in a redrawn district that includes his home base in Brooklyn.
De Blasio’s second mayoral term ended last year. He was briefly in the mix as a Democratic primary candidate in the 2020 presidential election and flirted with running for New York governor.
The pol announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination in the 10th Congressional District — covering a chunk of Manhattan and a piece of western Brooklyn – on Morning Joe.
Democratic Jerry Nadler represents 10th District now but will no longer live in there after maps were redrawn. Nadler, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, has held his seat in the now truncated 10th District since 1992.

New York City has rolled back its strictest anti-Covid measures, including vaccine mandates for indoor spaces.
Also, public school children from kindergarten through 12th grade no longer will be required to wear masks on school grounds, city officials said today.
Mayor Eric Adams announced the changes, which take effect Monday, during a news conference in Times Square. He closed his remarks by saying the momentous decision is “clearly an Arnold Schwarzenegger moment — we’ll be back.”
The choice of location for the news conference was not accidental. The pullback has significant repercussions for movie theaters, Broadway, concert venues and sports arenas, where mask mandates and vaccine requirements have been in place for nearly a year.
Broadway officials said today, however, that masks will be required in those theaters through April.

Gov. Kathy Hochul proposed extending New York State’s film and television production tax credit by three years — through 2029 – in a budget she presented today.
The proposed executive budget plan for fiscal 2023 doesn’t elaborate on the credits – they show up as a line item in a section of chart called ‘Other Key Tax Cuts and Credits.’ Details are being worked on and there could be some new stipulations and requirements.
The program, which provides credits of $420 million per year for film and television productions, currently runs through 2026. It offers a 25% credit for qualified production and post-production costs incurred in-state, with additional credits of up to 10% on labor costs in dozens of counties outside of New York City’s five boroughs.
“We’re happy about this. It’s very positive and it is totally aligned with what we have been doing in the industry in terms of job creation and broader economic activity.
The proposed executive budget plan for fiscal 2023 doesn’t elaborate on the credits – they show up as a line item in a section of chart called ‘Other Key Tax Cuts and Credits.’ Details are being worked on and there could be some new stipulations and requirements.

The holiday season was supposed to be a celebratory time for New York City’s theater and live events industries, marking a period of revival after months of setbacks and closures related to Covid-19. But omicron, a fast-moving and highly contagious variant of the virus, had other plans. Its spread has led several Broadway and off-Broadway plays to shut down or go on hiatus and it could cause headaches for the many television shows and movies that shoot across the five boroughs.
As commissioner of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Anne del Castillo is on the frontlines. She’s trying to help theaters stay open and and to keep productions humming even as omicron threatens to upend the city’s recovery. Andy Cohen dominated New Year’s Eve television headlines with his drunken hosting stint on CNN’s “Live From Times Square” special alongside Anderson Cooper. Cohen went viral for dissing outgoing New York City mayor Bill de Blasio, saying, “The only thing that the Democrats and the Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been, so sayonara, sucka! 2022! It’s a new year.” Cohen appeared on “The Howard Stern Show” this week and stood defiant when asked about his tipsy hosting duties. A report from The Daily Mail claimed staffers were left “embarrassed and angry” by Cohen.
“I will not be shamed for having fun on New Year’s Eve,” Cohen told Howard Stern. “That’s why I’m there. That’s why they bring me there.”

Andy Cohen knows his comments during CNN’s “New Year’s Live” made headlines, but he isn’t going to let anyone give him a guilt trip.
“I will not be shamed for having fun on New Year’s Eve,” Cohen told Howard Stern Tuesday when he called in the host’s eponymous SiriusXM show. “That’s why I’m there. That’s why the bring me there.”
Cohen’s comments, including his remarks about exiting New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and Ryan Seacrest made headlines, with Stern telling him, “Dude! You’re the talk of the town.”
The Bravo star, however, made sure to note that the headlines were concentrated on things that were said during the show’s final leg, and didn’t highlight his earlier interviews or commentary.

Plead the fifth? Pass. Andy Cohen is sharing how he really feels about the buzz surrounding his boozy New Year's Eve live broadcast. "Listen, I will not be shamed for having fun on New Year's Eve," he said during the Jan. 4 episode of SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show. "That's why I'm there. That's why they bring me there." For those who weren't watching live, Cohen hosted CNN's New Year's Eve Live from New York's Times Square on Dec. 31. And as the Bravo star put it in an Instagram post, he "was a hair over-served" that night. If you missed Andy Cohen’s headline-making rant about exiting New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, delivered on his CNN New Year’s Eve special not long after the ball dropped on Saturday night, Stephen Colbert has you covered.
The “Late Show” host opened his first monologue of 2022 by ripping into the Bravo host for saying this about de Blasio after an evening of taking shots on air with his friend and CNN anchor Anderson Cooper: “Watching Mayor de Blasio do his victory lap dance after four years of the crappiest term as the mayor of New York, the only thing that Democrats and Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been. So sayonara, sucka!”

Andy Cohen will return to CNN’s New Year’s Eve coverage for 2022, a network spokesperson said, as Cohen addressed some of the alcohol-fueled on-air rants he made while hosting the most recent event with Anderson Cooper.

Some of Cohen’s moments from the Friday/Saturday telecast went viral, particularly a rant against outgoing New York Mayor Bill de Blasio.
In another moment during the coverage, Cohen slammed the New Year’s Eve festivities playing out on ABC, with Ryan Seacrest as host. “If you look behind me, you will see Ryan Seacrest’s group of losers performing,” Cohen said. “If you’re watching ABC, you’re watching nothing.”

Ashanti and Ja Rule will join Journey as headliners for ABC’s Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest in Times Square. Karol G, who originally had been scheduled, has canceled her performance.
The changes are the latest for the New Year’s Eve special, after LL Cool J announced yesterday he had tested positive for Covid-19 and would not be performing as scheduled, and R&b singer Chlöe also had dropped out.
Other A-list stars and performers still scheduled for Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest include Pose alum Billy Porter, who co-hosts in New Orleans, Daddy Yankee in Puerto Rico and a Los Angeles bill that includes Ciara, Avril Lavigne & Travis Barker, Big Boi, OneRepublic and French Montana.
There have been concerns about proceeding with New Year’s Eve events in New York as the city has seen infection rates skyrocket due to the highly contagious Omicron variant.

On Tuesday, the United States recorded 512,553 daily new cases, according to Johns Hopkins University. That is, by far, the single highest daily case number recorded during the entire Covid-19 pandemic. University data indicates that the previous high was 294,015 on January 8, 2021.
One mitigating factor is the Christmas weekend. May testing centers were likely closed over the holiday, meaning some test results that would have been recorded during that period likely rolled over to Monday and today.
But even a measure that accounts for reporting ups and downs, the seven-day average of new daily cases, published by The Washington Post today was a record. The 253,245 cases as of Tuesday afternoon eclipsed the previous 7-day average daily high of 248,209. That was on January 12.
California, the nation’s most populous state, also blasted past its all-time daily record, hitting 86,634 new cases today. That number tops the 60,107 the state saw on January 4 of this year.

“Today…we make history in New York City. We lead the nation with the strongest vaccine mandate anywhere —- private sector vaccine mandate — reaching hundreds of thousands of businesses,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday.
The mandate, which takes effect today, applies to all “workers in New York City who perform in-person work or interact with the public in the course of business,” including contractors. Individual businesses must verify and keep records of workers’ vaccination status.
“Businesses may not allow any unvaccinated workers to come to their workplace,” reads the summary of the order on the city’s web site.
Those working on-site “must show proof they have received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. Workers will then have 45 days to show proof of their second dose (for Pfizer or Moderna vaccines).” The mandate includes businesses that operate out of cars, such as ride share services and taxis.

As New York has emerged as an epicenter of a new Covid wave driven by the highly contagious Omicron variant, the city has been gripped by skyrocketing infection rates that have shut down Broadway and have led to the cancellation of most in-person events.
That includes Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022. Broadway’s recent and ongoing surge in Covid cancellations is one of those shocking but not surprising things – New Yorkers knew instinctively since theaters reopened in September that disappointment was always just a cough away. Still, the spate of cancellations – with, it must be repeated, only one permanent closing to date – is disheartening to say the least.
So why now? And what now? Is there anything else Broadway should be doing to lessen the impact of the Omicron variant? The Broadway League has indicated that another industry-wide shutdown is not being considered, and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio stated bluntly this week, “No more shutdowns.”
At the moment, Broadway is battling Covid with various weapons – testing, vaccinations, masks, filtration – and while the approach is more rigorous than what can be found in other industries, the fight doesn’t always seem to reflect a unified front. While all theater workers and audiences must be double-vaxxed,...

Broadway’s Covid vaccine mandate will soon extend to children between the ages of 5 and 11, the Broadway League announced today. The expanded policy will take effect Tuesday, Dec. 14.
The new policy aligns with Mayor Bill de Blasio’s recently announced expansion of vaccine requirements at restaurants and other venues throughout the city, also effective as of Dec. 14.
Under Broadway’s new policy, children ages 5 – 11 may enter a theater only with proof of at least one dose of an Fda or Who approved vaccine. (Audience members ages 12 and older must be double-vaccinated.)
Charlotte St. Martin, President of The Broadway League said in a statement, “With safety and security top of mind, we continue to stress the unrelenting desire that we have to keep our theatregoers, cast and crew safe. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio today announced a major vaccine mandate expansion including the first in the nation for private-sector workers.
In an announcement today, the outgoing de Blasio said the mandate, which will take effect on Dec. 27, will apply to roughly 184,000 businesses.
His “Key to NYC” program previously required vaccines for workers and customers at indoor dining, fitness, entertainment and performance venues. Starting December 14, that will be expanded to require children aged 5-11 to show proof of one vaccination dose for those venues. Eric Adams has been elected mayor of New York City. The former New York City Police Department captain is the second Black mayor in the history of the nation’s largest city.
Adams, 61, who at present is Brooklyn borough president, prevailed out of a crowded field in the race to succeed Bill de Blasio, who had a rocky two terms as mayor, with his final years upended by social unrest and having the city become the first major Covid-19 hot zone in the U.S.
Adams emerged as a moderate option in a field of liberal contenders that included former city sanitation commissioner Kathryn Garcia, attorney Maya Wiley and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang. Adams was the largest vote-getter in the August mayoral primary, which signaled that he would have a smooth path to victory this month.

Facing Republican rival and Guardian Angel founder Curtis Sliwa in Tuesday’s vote, the former New York Police Department captain and longtime Brooklyn borough president was declared the winner by AP at 9:10 Pm Et — that’s literally mere minutes after the polls closed at 9 Pm Et.

Thousands of protesters, including firefighters and police officers, tied up traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge this afternoon with a march against New York City’s Covid vaccine mandate.
The policy covering some 50,000 workers comes after similar measures for health-care and education employees and takes effect on Friday afternoon. Anyone who does not comply with the mandate will be placed on unpaid leave starting next Monday, November 1. As an additional incentive, the city has offered $500 to workers who decide to get vaccinated.
Police and fire personnel joined sanitation workers, paramedics, teachers and a range of supporters in what was dubbed the “Anti-Mandate March For Choice.” It followed a smaller-scale demonstration on Sunday outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. NBA star Kyrie Irving, who plays for the Brooklyn Nets, has been sidelined by the team until he complies with the city’s vaccine requirement in a highly publicized case.
