Super Bowl commercials are often a haven of reunions and nostalgia grabs. In years past, they’ve seen the likes of Matthew Broderick return to play himself, similar to his famous Ferris Bueller character. Recently, Zach Galligan reunited with Gizmo for a commercial. Last night, Alicia Silverstone stepped back into her Cher attire for a Clueless tribute for a Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, Deadline reports.
The Big Game TV Spot depicted Cher Horowitz in her former debate class, being interrupted by her rival, Amber, which sees Eliza Donovan back in the film role as well. The spot mirrors a similar scene in the 1995 Amy Heckerling comedy in which Cher gives a presentation in Mr. Hall’s debate class against the opposing party represented by Amber. In the twist for the TV spot, it’s not the same class, but a modern-day school class.

Alicia Silverstone Returns to Iconic ‘Clueless’ Role for a Super Bowl Ad: ‘Couldn’t Be More Perfect’
“Clueless” fans, this one’s for you.
Alicia Silverstone returns to her legendary “Clueless” character, Cher Horowitz, in a new Super Bowl ad for the shopping platform Rakuten.
The 30-sec ad, called “Not So Clueless” will air during the first quarter of the game on Sunday, Feb. 12.
“I know people really enjoy this character, and that comes up for me all the time,” the actress told Glamour. “I think many people would agree that Cher is one of film history’s most iconic shoppers, so when Rakuten approached me, I thought it was a smart idea. It’s so clever and couldn’t be more perfect, because I think Rakuten would really appeal to Cher—the idea that she gets cash back for doing her favorite activity.”

Cher is back.
On Wednesday, Rakuten dropped a teaser for their big Super Bowl ad, featuring Alicia Silverstone reprising her iconic character from ’90s teen classic “Clueless”.

The teaser features Silverstone in Cher Horowitz’s signature yellow-and-black checked blazer and skit, walking into a classroom.
“Don’t bug — your girl is back,” she says, taking her spot at the teacher’s podium.
The teaser is set to the Supergrass song “Alright”, which was featured on the original “Clueless” soundtrack.
“Rakuten makes it easy to save while you shop, and working with them to revive Clueless for the Super Bowl stage made sense with how much Cher loved shopping — no doubt she would have tons of Cash Back,” Silverstone told People.

Cher Horowitz is back. 28 years after Amy Heckerling’s cult classic “Clueless” premiered, setting the bar for modernized Jane Austen adaptations and inspiring decades of Halloween costumes, Silverstone is set to reprise her role as the sweetly well-intentioned Valley girl — not for a sequel film or one of her TikToks, but rather for a Rakuten spot that will air during the Super Bowl.
The teaser for the commercial opens with a classroom of students chattering amongst themselves. A school bell rings, the iconic yellow plaid emerges into frame and Cher strides down the aisle, holding one shopping bag in each hand. She reaches the front of the classroom and sets them down, then whirls around to face the camera. The opening chords of “Alright” by Supergrass begin to play as she fixes a steady gaze.

Taylor Hawkins was sunshine incarnate. The late Foo Fighters drummer – also a songwriter, singer and multi-instrumentalist – had an unrivalled sense of positivity and joie de vivre. His megawatt smile could power a stadium show all of its own.
The first of two tribute concerts to Hawkins, who died aged 50 in March this year, does its utmost to summon that same energy. Gathered here at Wembley Stadium are some of Hawkins’s closest friends – the surviving Foos members, of course – family, collaborators and admirers, for a six-hour marathon of a show. Understandably, the mood that fills the 80,000-capacity venue is a strange one. Hawkins’s favourite songs are played ahead of the late-afternoon start time – Abba, Elo, George Michael – but no one feels like dancing just yet.

Although Radiohead's unreleased "Spooks" started appearing in 2006 as a fairly hard-rocking instrumental track, it never saw the inside of a studio. Now, here we are 8 years later, and "Spooks" has finally come to life -- but in a very different form. After reuniting with director Paul Thomas Anderson to score his new film "Inherent Vice," Radiohead's Jonny Greenwood alluded to the fact that the soundtrack would feature an unreleased Radiohead tune, which is sort of true. They've been playing an instrumental take on "Spooks" since way back in 2006, but the film version does away with the rest of the band -- including Thom Yorke's otherworldly croon -- in favor of guest contributions from Gaz Coombes and Dany Goffey (of the defunct Britpop combo Supergrass), and a spoken word performance from singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom, who also appears in the film. It's significantly slower and less frantic than previous live versions,...

With the arrival of Toy Story 3 (2010, Disney, PG), cinema (and now DVD) arguably has its first note-perfect trilogy. While Coppola lost the plot in The Godfather's third act, Kieslowski fumbled the ball with Three Colours: White and Jackson's The Two Towers (inevitably) sagged a bit in the middle, Pixar's bittersweet final outing with Woody and Buzz has all the poignant beauty of the last chapter of Winnie the Pooh. Some bands have all the luck, and some bands can't buy a break. Supergrass belong in the latter category, as despite a series of buzz-heavy singles (including "Alright," the breakout hit from their debut album I Should Coco that was also featured on the soundtrack to the hit movie "Clueless"), they never seemed to be able to get over the hump for a true breakthrough (at least in America, anyway). And on this day in 2007 (just as they were , the band had to put all of their business on hold when bassist Mick Quinn broke his back and heel in a supremely unfortunate accident.

If you're going to see Scott Pilgrim vs. the World on Friday – and you should – then after the mash-up of 8-bit videogame-inspired kung-fu action and My So Called Life teenage angst, chances are you'll have a new favourite soundtrack to cherish.

Conan O'Brien On TBS, Who Justin Bieber Supports And The Supergrass Break-Up In Today's Twitter-Wood
Conan O'Brien fired up his Team CoCo tweeters today with news that he would bring a late-night show to TBS. George Lopez, whose show will move to make room for Conan, gained a whole new following as a result, including Aziz Ansari and James Urbaniak. Conan even got a shout-out from Justin Bieber about the announcement. Bieber, meanwhile, saw a new #JustinBieberSucks tag emerge, which was bound to happen sooner or later. Frankie Muniz picked that one up, though.
In other tweets, Edgar Wright mourned the break-up of the British band Supergrass, who strangely enough were responsible for the 1995 album I Should Coco. Check out what he had to say after the jump where you'll also find Elizabeth Taylor dispelling a rumor and an "Eclipse" actor hugging a koala. It's all in Twitter-Wood for April 12th, 2010.

Sad news out of Hollywood today, as actress Brittany Murphy — the star of modern classics like "Clueless" and "8 Mile" — passed away at the age of 32. The details remain incomplete, but there is a report that she was admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars Sinai Hospital in full cardiac arrest. Celebrity friends — including co-stars Ashton Kutcher ("Just Married") and Alicia Silverstone ("Clueless") — are already weighing in with reactions to the tragic news.
Murphy got her first big break in 1995's "Clueless," the Amy Heckerling-directed California adaptation of Jane Austen's "Emma." The film was a huge hit, as was the soundtrack that featured Radiohead, the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Supergrass, Counting Crows and Smoking Popes. In one of the movie's definitive scenes, she raps along to Coolio's "Rollin' With My Homies" and does a little arm dance that ended up becoming associated with both the song and with Murphy.
That wasn't Murphy's only run-in with hip-hop.
