This article contains spoilers for The Lincoln Lawyer seasons 1 and 2.
It is a tumultuous time in Hollywood currently. The Writer’s Guild of America has now surpassed 100 days of strike action, and SAG-AFTRA is showing solidarity right beside them. Many television and film productions have been put on hiatus, which begs the question – has The Lincoln Lawyer even been renewed at this juncture?
Ted Humphrey, showrunner for the Netflix hit, confirmed that he and his writing team had already been working on a season 3 before the WGA began their strike action. An official renewal has not been announced, and there may be a delay in production for obvious reasons, but chances still look good we’ll see Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and his team again. And thanks to the precedent set by the Mickey Haller book series, we have a good idea of what to expect from season 3.

This article contains spoilers for The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 finale.
Mickey Haller’s life has been very eventful. From working out of the back of his car at the beginning of season one to his own office, his own staff, and being on the front page of every newspaper in the country, the titular Lincoln Lawyer from Netflix’s hit series The Lincoln Lawyer has had quite a turn-around. A high-profile murder case ending with your client getting executed vigilante-style in broad daylight tends to boost your profile. Now sober and ready to build his life again, Mickey (Manuel García-Rulfo) has clearly made the most of his second chance.
He’s clearly busy. Mickey spends season 2 rushing around from interview to interview, case to case, striking while the iron is hot. He’s stretched thin, and that strain is falling on everyone around him. The LA Times interviews and horseback riding lessons are all fun,...

"I See You" defies expectations. What begins as a typical crime thriller mutates into something more intricate and profound. Devon Graye penned the script, blending together social commentary on child abuse, infidelity, police corruption, and homelessness. At the heart of the film is the concept of phrogging -- when a person or persons secretly squat inside someone else's home. Director Adam Randall elevates the film with long static shots, emotional character close-ups, and methodical dolly glides. The camera work here takes on a life all its own. But let's not forget the film's chill-inducing score, courtesy of composer William Arcane, which punctuates the film's vital and mouth-dropping moments.
Initially, "I See You" arrived in theaters in late 2019 and grossed just over $1 million at the box office. But when the film hit Netflix, it went viral -- scoring top slots in the streamer's daily Top 10 list. As we revisit this harrowing movie,...

Jordan Peele’s highly anticipated third feature film, “Nope,” has finally arrived.
The film follows Peele’s first two horror films as a writer/director, 2017’s “Get Out” and 2019’s “Us.” Known for his comedy and leading role in “Key and Peele,” Peele has quickly become a draw for fans as a filmmaker and “Nope,” unlike Peele’s first two films, leans heavily into the sci-fi genre with a blockbuster-sized budget. Peele reteamed with Daniel Kaluuya on the film, which finds a brother and sister duo trying to catch UFOs on camera.

The horror genre and mental illness don’t quite go hand-in-hand but movie directors have always found the genre a good way to express and show these problems. From 1963’s The Haunting (and even before that) to more recent films such as Daniel Isn’t Real, real-life problems can always be portrayed in scary ways.
Hypochondriac explores the life of Will (Zac Villa) who as a young boy was nearly murdered by his own mother. She was subsequently put away but despite not seeing her, remained in Will’s thoughts. Now, eighteen years later, he is living a happy life until he starts to hear from his mum in the form of parcels and phone messages. This coincides with Will starting to see things, and although the doctors tell him he is physically okay,...

“Hypochondriac” informs viewers right away that it is “based on a real breakdown,” which certainly provides a new wrinkle on the now-wildly-overused “true story” proviso. Nonetheless, clarity of hindsight is not a major virtue in this adventurous first feature by writer-director Addison Heimann.
The offbeat indie drama features Zach Villa as a Los Angelean whose troubled past threatens to unravel his domestic partnership and his very sanity. The combination of gay protagonists, mental illness exploration, horror tropes, and surreal elements that gesture toward “Donnie Darko” make for an ambitious mix that holds attention, even if the uneven, somewhat muddled results are ultimately more effortful than insightful.
Following a festival tour that includes a midnight berth at SXSW and fitting slot in genre-focused Fantasia, XYZ Films will open the film in limited release on July 29, with digital and VOD release following Aug. 4.

As anticipation for Jordan Peele’s upcoming thriller “Nope” continues to build, a new announcement from Universal suggests that the movie’s place in Hollywood history is already secure.
The studio has confirmed that the film’s largest set, the fictional Gold Rush-themed amusement park Jupiter’s Claim, will be added to the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood on July 22, the same day that the film hits theaters. The famous tour contains set pieces from many of Universal’s most beloved films, including “Jaws” and “Psycho,” but this marks the first time that a film has been immortalized on the tour so soon after release.
In “Nope,” Jupiter’s Claim is operated by Ricky “Jupe” Park, the character played by Steven Yeun. The “family-fun theme park” is built around a whitewashed history of the California Gold Rush and is an important location for the UFO mystery at the center of the film.

"It will disturb you." "It will rip at you." XYZ Films has debuted an official trailer for an indie horror titled Hypochondriac, marking the feature debut of filmmaker Addison Heimann. This premiered at the 2022 SXSW Film Festival back in March, and also played at Panic Fest, Outfest LA, and the Neuchâtel Fantastic Film Festival in Switzerland most recently. Will is a young Hispanic potter / artist with a loving boyfriend and a good life, but when his deranged, mentally ill mother re-emerges after a 10 year absence, it erodes the foundation of the world he has created and exposes a dark past of violence he was desperate to keep hidden. Starring Zach Villa as Will, with Devon Graye, Paget Brewster, Marlene Forte, Madeline Zima, Yumarie Morales, and Chris Doubek. This looks crazy – in a good way. The setup with the story is fine, then it goes to some freaky places in the second half of this trailer.

One of the most anticipated films of the summer is “Nope,” Jordan Peele’s mysterious horror project that he promises is “the Great American UFO Story.” Fans have slowly begun to piece elements of the story together from the film’s multiple cryptic trailers. But if “Us” and “Get Out” taught us any lessons, it’s that when Jordan Peele is behind the camera, you never know what you’re going to get.

There is nothing funny about having a nervous breakdown, so it’s extremely admirable when someone can not only share their story with the world, but also manage to insert humor into a difficult situation. Writer/director Addison Heimann’s feature film debut, Hypochondriac, is an intimate, and sometimes hysterical, glimpse into his own personal experience with mental illness and the film is premiering at this year’s SXSW Film Festival.
Hypochondriac follows a young, gay man named Will, played by Zach Villa (American Horror Story), who gives a wonderfully authentic performance. When Will was a child, his mother (Marlene Forte) began acting strangely and after becoming violent, was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Will then cut off all communication with his mother, partially on the advice of a therapist, played by Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds), and eighteen years later, he has a boyfriend and a job as a potter for an exclusive gallery.

"What if I pushed you over and over again?" Gravitas has released an official trailer for an indie horror / psychological thriller titled The Madness Inside Me, from filmmaker Matthew Berkowitz. This initially premiered at the Filmfest Oldenburg in Germany last year. A forensic psychiatrist's husband is killed during a home invasion, but instead of identifying the killer, she recants. She stalks the newly released psychopath, deciding whether she wants to kill him, sleep with him, or try to understand him. "Is her relationship with criminals an excuse for her to rebel or is this the person who has always been inside her?" Merrin Dungey stars as Madison, along with Devon Graye, Thomas Q. Jones, and Anthony DeSando. At first glance, this looks like a very artsy exploration of guilt and instability, exploring the deep, dark aspects inside of us. Here's the official US trailer (+ poster) for Matthew Berkowitz's The Madness Inside Me,...

The fact that it’s a very complicated matter even identifying the “I” and “you” in “I See You” is just a sample of the narrative tricks in this very tricksy thriller. Working from an impressive first produced screenplay by actor Devon Graye, Adam Randall’s film is an eerie suspense exercise that starts out looking like a supernatural tale — one of several viewer presumptions this cleverly engineered narrative eventually pulls the rug out from under. Saban Films opens it on 10 U.S. screens this Friday, while Paramount is handling concurrent home-formats release. Long-term viability as a streaming offering is assured, while the distinctive plotting may well lure offshore remake bids.
Philipp Blaubach’s probing, restless camera charges the very air with unseen menace from the start, as a 10-year-old boy bicycles home through a picturesque small-town, his progress down a forest trail violently curtailed by some invisible barrier or force.

One of the best treats of The Flash‘s debut season was the return of the legend that is Mark Hamill as the Trickster, the same character he played twenty years before in the 1990s Flash TV show. The role offered a chance for the actor to basically do his Joker in live-action and he followed it up by making cameos in the second and third seasons.
Unfortunately, because he’s such a busy guy, he didn’t make it into last year’s season 4, but does that mean that we’ve seen the last of the Trickster on The CW show, or is there a chance that Hamill could reprise the role again in the future? TV Line put the question to showrunner Todd Helllbing and he admitted that the team “always” wants to get him back, but he’s tied up working on history drama Knightfall – which is,...

One of the biggest fan favourite villains on The Flash is the Trickster, as played by DC legend Mark Hamill. Though he’s most known for voicing the Joker since the 1990s, Hamill has also played the Trickster on both the 1990 TV series starring John Wesley Shipp and The CW’s modern interpretation.
While he appeared in guest spots throughout the show’s first three seasons, Hamill has been a no-show in season 4 so far. You might have thought that this was to do with the actor being too busy with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but it turns out he’s just waiting for the call to be asked back. Here’s what he told ComicBook.com while in attendance at the Aarp Movies for Grownups Awards:
“Who knows? They haven’t asked yet. They asked me once, and I agreed, but John was doing a play – John Wesley Shipp.
